The best thing about this hotel was its location, right on a beautiful beach, with beautifully landscaped grounds, and two restaurants with great ocean views. Staff didn't give us a king bed as requested, but offered to change our room for the remaining 3 nights. First room was showing age and the tub drain didn't work, but the room move went off without a hitch and the second room had the king bed and a working tub. We really enjoyed our stay and had expected to pay more for the location, but didn't expect a "resort charge" to be tacked onto the bill when we got there. I suppose I should have read the hotels.com fine print more carefully, but it started us off with a feeling of hidden charges for "services" that are usually included in the price (like Wi-Fi).

After a near distaster at check in, where I was told that my 2 daughters and I (ages 12 and 10) would all have to share a king bed (I booked a double oceanfront room), another couple checking in at the same time traded rooms with us so we did end up with the 2 doubles originally reserved. But the front desk was unable to help with that and only could offer a rollaway. This is a nice, basic hotel on a pretty beach. Very limited room service menu of just ok food. Both the concierge and the travel coordinators in the lobby were very helpful and professional planning excursions and making reservations. It was spring break and the ocean front pool was mobbed with kids, no chairs available, so we crossed the street and used the Garden Pool -- on some days we were the only ones there and had the entire pool (a very nice pool too) to ourselves. Valet parking is a steal at $10 per day and they get your car within 1-2 mins of requesting it. The rooms were big and clean.

We enjoyed our stay at Sheraton Kauai very much. Our room was great, nice view, very comfortable bed. Had a stopped up sink that was promptly fixed. All staff we encountered throughout were very kind, courteous & helpful-front desk, valet, maids, waitstaff, or cafe. (Not so at off resort restaurants-pretty grumpy people overall!) I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Expect to pay more for a room in Poipu. The Kapaa area is much cheaper and the rooms are great in Kapaaa.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort was far superior than what I was expecting. The accommodation was sheer luxury and the discount on my suite was enormous. I couldn't have asked for better accommodations, as an introduction to the island of Kauai. I will say, however, that as a young, single, professional this resort is pretty low key. BUT this was just what I was wanting and it served it's purpose in spades. That being said, if you want a younger, energetic crowd best to go elsewhere.

Beautiful, friendly and very pleasant. We would easily stay there again.

Lovely Hawaiian feel with great access to a beach and close to Poipu Beach Park!

If you are looking for a resort that is great for couples or families in Poipu, but do not want to spend Grand Hyatt prices, this is the place for you! Rooms have been updated so are nicely furnished. The ocean wing is right over the ocean. The garden wing, although not overlooking the ocean, has very nice views of lush gardens. Staff were very pleasant, patient and attentive. We were thoroughly pleased with our experience here.

The Sheraton has a really nice relaxing vibe. The beds are super comfortable and the grounds were rooster free! The beach is a nice swimming beach. The staff were really helpful and responsive when we had a couple of requests. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in the south. It is about an hour's drive to the Waimea canyon which you should definitely see if you are staying in the south.

Great location to watch sunsets. Very close to some great places to eat - beach house, keokis paradise, Tom cats (locals, great little place). Beautiful gardens and pool area on beach. The new bar is a typical hotel bar, not in keeping with Hawaiian heritage or style, big, shiny etc. rooms are spacious.

Loved the hotel, great snorkeling at the beach on the property. Rooms were beautiful. Lei making activity was fun. Bartenders at the lava restaurant were friendly and nice.

Generally very good. Nice grounds, friendly helpful staff. Excellent response to requests. Had to ask for additional telephone pad and towels.

Overall a good hotel and central location right on the beach. We stayed Friday to Monday and were a bit upset that the hotel charges this "resort" fee for items that should be included at no charge, it's just a way to jack-up the price. Besides, there were no activities on Sunday, but they still charged us the daily resort fee. Unfortunately, most of these places do it and people seem to be OK paying it.

We probably won't ever go back to the Sheraton though - Not because we had a bad experience or anything - There are just so many great vacation rentals in the Poipu Beach area that cost substantially less than any hotel in the area!! Just depends on what you want out of your vacation... But the Sheraton Kauai is in a great location, the quality of service was excellent and everything was very clean!

We loved the hotel, and when we travel we stay at a Sheraton almost always. We were at the one on Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. The only thing I think the hotel lacked it entertainment, something for the guested to do in the evening besides eat at the restaurant. When I was at the hotel in Kauai years ago before the remodel they had Hawaiian dancers outside on the lawn area you could sit and watch and have a drink, it was just fun. A small thing I know but it would make a difference. I know you offered a Luau but it was nothing like the one on Maui at your hotel.

Generally, our stay at this hotel was excellent. On arrival, we received an Ocean Front view with two double beds instead of a king. After a few snags, they were able to get us into a Ocean Front view with a king bed, apologized for the mix up, and gave us a $50 credit. Other that this issues, everything else was great! Ideal location for accessing the beautiful Poipu beach, local area shopping, and close enough to sites along the west and east coasts. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

For the price of this hotel, there were a few things lacking but overall the grounds and pool / beach view were breathtaking. The rooms were a little small and we didn't realize that these were separate buildings from the main reception area. Also didn't notice the additional "resort fee" to include parking which we often had to hunt for on the street or that valet parking was additional. At this level of hotel, it seems those items should be included as should perhaps bath robes in the rooms. Overall, they offered activities and a few specialty things on the grounds and the pool was wonderful. BUT.....you had to use cards to get towels and towel service ended at 5pm...who wouldn't want to go for a late night dip or hang at the jacuzzi in the evening, but without a towel it gets pretty cool / chilly. Loved some of the activities like lei making and surfing lessons...wish we'd known about those BEFORE we got there. LOVED that they offered a hospitality room to get cleaned up before we had a late flight home. Shuttle service to local amenities / shopping/ restaurants was awesome! Was pretty close (within a good walk) to several shops / sights. Was very, scenic and staff was very helpful and attentive whenever we needed anything.

Extremely nice and friendly service. The pool and. Each area are beautiful. Plenty of shallow area if you have small kids. Wifi in the room which is important to me and a business center if you want to use their computer

My wife and I loved this hotel. It was the perfect beginning to a relaxing honeymoon after the stress of the wedding and our travel to HI. We absolutely loved our room. Our King bed was very comfortable. Plenty of closet space to hang clothes, and the bathroom was huge (two sinks) and had a separate area for the toilet and shower. We had a great view of the ocean and sunset from our balcony (though not of the pool). Service from the staff - from the bellhop to the waiters at Rum Cafe - were excellent. Everyone was friendly and polite. We definitely would stay at this hotel again.

seeing that Kauai basically has a single road around the island but doesn't circle it completely, it was a good central location to both ends of the road. exploring wiamea and the napali coast on one end and the wet/dry caves and kalalau trail on the other. Kauai has the nicest people. this is coming from a person who was born and raised on the big island and lives on the mainland now. really, the nicest people, especially in waimea town. staff at this hotel were great. overall a great place to stay. nice beach!

Spent four nights at the Sheraton. The hotel sits on a great beach, although there isn't much to see if you plan on snorkeling. Poipu Beach is the next one down, and has much more marine life. There are many restaurants in the Poipu Shopping Vilage, a 10 minute walk north of the resort, and more in the Kukui’ula Village Shopping Center, a short drive or a long walk to the west. I ate breakfast at the resort a few times, once at the buffet, and a couple of times at the coffee shop. Both were on the expensive side, but the quality and service were both good. Lunch and drinks at the poolside bar were not overly expensive given the beautiful location, but I suppose "expensive" is a relative term. The hotel does charge $25/ day in as a resort fee, but if you made it all the way to check in without knowing that, then you are not really doing your homework. I highly recommend the hotel based on location alone, but the friendliness and professionalism of the staff make it a great bet for a wonderful vacation.

Very nice place. Friendly staff. Nice beach and pool. Kauai in general , very expensive.

If you're looking for the total Island experience, book your stay at this great spot on Kuai. Great ocean, neighborhood, and a great staff. Muhala!

Smaller resort, right on the ocean. Great for couples as it's smaller and not as many kids.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort is a lovely place to stay on Kauai. It is priced similarly to many of the other hotels and is right on the beach. We stayed in a partial ocean view room and were able to see a bit of ocean. The room was clean, comfortable, and typically quiet (a renovation is almost finished and there would sometimes be hammering at 8 am). We heard little noise from neighboring rooms. Beach and pool towels are included as well as parking, but very little else. There is a daily resort fee on top of the room charge, which doesn't get you much, but apparently all the hotels do this. We only ate breakfast at the hotel once, and while it was a nice buffet with good selections, we found it to be very overpriced. The Poipu Shopping Village is within walking distance and has several restaurant options as well as some nice shops. There is very little else in Poipu Beach, so if you are looking for more activities within walking distance, this is not the place for you. If you plan to explore by rental car, it's a good choice. It's the leeward side of the island, so the water is calm even in winter, and we saw many whales from poolside. Would stay again.

3 star, claiming to be 4 star, charging like 5 star! Nice staff, decent room, unaccommodating management, overpriced and mediocre food.

We booked this room for our honeymoon and booked a ocean-view room. Our room had an AMAZING view of the ocean from the 4th floor. The room was great and large. The property itself was a bit on the older side. They are working to add a new restaurant and bar to the property, which were supposed to be done before we arrived but they were still being worked on. Parking was not the easiest but was located across the street. No dining options within walking distance, have to drive to places to eat. Good pool and right on a great beach. Mention it is your honeymoon and they will give you a free bottle of champagne!

The hotel is a little dated and currently undergoing a remodel, but the beach is very nice and the staff was very friendly. Be aware that the hotel is very large and some of the wings are very convenient to beach, some are not. Also, in typical resort fashion, expect to be nickel and dimed with resort fees, expensive buffet breakfast, etc. If you're wanting luxury, spend the extra $s and go to the Grand Hyatt- if you want affordable Poipu, this is a good choice.

I have been to Kauai half a dozen times. The Poipu side is where you want to stay, since the weather is the most reliable. This was my first stay at the Sheraton, which has recently been renovated. Restaurants are not yet open, but the new pool has been completed. The pool is very nice, though not as large as at the Hyatt. The Hyatt is more of a resort, but does not have the lovely swimming beach; it has an artificial beach with pebbly sand. Compare prices; my advice is to stay at the Sheraton if it is two thirds or less of the Hyatt cost. The Sheraton property is divided by a road; make sure to book the beach side of the road, and if possible, the deluxe ocean front room in the Ocean Wing. Negatives: no screens on the lanai door; the wireless internet is so slow as to almost unusable; they cannot seem to enforce the no smoking policy on the lanai.

They just completed the main pool, but have not completed the resturants and main lobby. I would recommend the ocean view rooms, but you have to cross the street to visit the front desk and get breakfast. The "activities/time share pushers" aren't very good. The ideas they gave us were not very helpful and the "best beach in the state" according to the lady was definately not that. Unless you think getting changed in a dirty bathroom with drunks and drug addicts is "the best", or brown muddy water. Breakfast was free while under construction. Didn't eat on the property for breakfast and lunch - not that we were ever offerred that. Room was big and spacious and had a great view. The groundskeepers need a lesson on cutting the lawn. Our room opened on to the "lawn" and the first day it was beautiful. Then someone came in an cut the grass down to the ground, there were huge dead patches. They had "free Mai Tais" from 5-6, but there wasn't any alcohol in the drinks --- so make it "free Pinapple juice at the rinky dink old pool hour" and that would be more descriptive.

Went for a second honeymoon first time away from kids. Hotel was great even during remodel. The ocean pool was finished and perfect. Room had the best ocean view. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Would have loved to stay a few more days. Mahalo.

For me the Sheraton name is associated with a brand that is of a high class, the Sheraton in Kauai let down that brand. The decor is stuck in the 70s, that is ok as the rooms were still roomy and clean. The problem was around service and facilities. On arrival (mid afternoon) there was one person doing check in, I was 6th in line! Not a great start. Breakfast was in a room that made it feel like we were at school camp. Despite booking a table in the one place to eat for dinner they had no booking and told us to sit anywhere....which meant we rearranged tables and colleted chairs from other guests. Not the least bit helpful. Once seated getting served was difficult. The drinks order was not correct (although we took the extra drinks as easier than trying to order again). Waited a long time at concierge desk and in the end left and googled what I wanted to know, another service that just wasn't accessible. All up it wasn't a great ambience, the service was limited, constantly felt like they were under staffed. The hotel despite a beautiful location doesn't make the most of it. You just have to go down the road a little to the Grand Hyatt to find a hotel that makes use of its location and to us as non hotel guests made us feel welcome and looked after from the moment we stepped in the door. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and to be honest won't be considering a Sheraton again any time soon.

The staff were great, freindly and very accomodating. The room could use an upgrade as the aircondiioning didn't work well and the bed was very unconfortable. However very clean and wonderful facilities. We enjoyed our stay very much . One of the best and safest beaches to swim at!!!!

We spent just one night as part of Hawaii family vacation. There was construction going on so it was less than perfect but it did not take away from the experience. Great swimming pool. Use of hospitality room was much appreciated on day of departure. Service was outstanding. Location convenient.
