Hôtel des Colonies - בריסל

The room was extremely small but clean. The hotel has six floors, each of which has more than a dozen rooms, but there's only one lift in the whole hotel, which leads to long waiting times sometimes. And the lift only works after placing the room key into a slot, which is strange enough. The location is extremely convenient though, with its proximity to the Underground station and Brussels North Railway station, which provides fast and easy access to and from the main airport of the city. The internet connection that is provided in the rooms has weak signal reception though, which is another minus side to this place.

Stayed for 5 nights whilst working for the EC at Covent Garden - as such the location is perfect. The hotel room I stayed in was of a good size with a great view though rather basic and dated. Had to have a bath each morning as there was no hook for the shower-head. I didn't take breakfast in the hotel as there are a couple of options close-by. The hotel is "rather quiet", but was fine for what I wanted. There are plenty of places to eat in the vicinity, and all of Brussels is accessible from the Rogier Metro station. Gare du Nord is only a short walk away. For the price I paid I can't complain!

The 1-person room was very small. The biggest problem was the shower with mold. Hotel personnel was helpful. The rest was acceptable given the great price I paid.

i chose this hotel at last minute and was lucky to get some long-stay promotion. it has unbeatable location, 5-10 minute walk from the north railway station (Brussels Noord), depending on if you carry luggage or not. Walking distance to grand plaza (15 minute) or even walkable to Sablon (45 minute with window shopping). The Rogier metro is steps away, so is the City2 shopping mall, with Carrefour. Sheraton, Hilton and Crown Plaza are neighboring hotels. Quite safe. The room facilities are a bit old but you can borrow hair dryer or ask for hot water at front desk (they dont provide kettle in the room). The least satisfactory is the heating system, not strong enough, though extra blanket was available in the room.

Staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable. Location: very near a major tram/metro stop (Rogier), and city centre (Grand Place) was about 10-15 minutes easy walk. Useful shopping mall (City2) very near.

The hotel is located in the close proximity of some of EU buildings, just opposite the street from Crown Plaza hotel and Coven Garden building. It does not live up to the name: it's a dusted place in a dirty and dusted corner of Rogier square. But I could say the same about Crown Plaza hotel. The area looks more like the down-town of an american city. Good points: very close to the north station and to many touristic points of Brussels. The staff is pretty helpful. All in all, if you need a bed and a good location this is the place.

It was fine because of location and price. A room in which I stayed was too tiny. Bathroom could have been refurbished. Hotel staff was very plesant. Wifi in the hotel also works very well.

Very beautiful place to stay, but not close to much and hotel was expensive if you ate at the restaurant.

Quite a plain looking hotel at first sight, rooms even plainer. Looks better in the pictures than in real life. Very thin walls and cold rooms. Bed quite comfy but the sheets had holes in them.

the hotel team was friendly and service oriented. But the standard over all is bad. Rooms not in a good condition, bathroom not in a good condition and not really clean, shower such small that you can not really use it, the toiletflusher runs the hole night, minibar was empty and not connected ................ Breakfirst, no comment. I've never seen such a minimal breakfirst and the bread was horrible. I am traveller, and I got better standards, cleaner rooms, and better breakfirst in much cheaper hotels. There where not many guests in the hotel, no wonder.

Five minute walk from the hotel are the Rogier subway station and Brussels Noord rail station. City center is within a mile distance and across the road you have one of the largest malls in Brussels - the City 2 Mall. Concerning the hotel itself - the service ar the reception is outstanding. Breakfast is good. The only dissapointing thing is that our towels were not changed to fresh ones as frequently as they should be.

The best feature of this hotel is its excellent location. It is 3 minutes walk to the Gare Du Nord Rail Station, also 10 minutes to the Grand Place besides being situated close to the main shopping street. It is an old hotel, but serves an adequate breakfast. The staff are helpful. I stayed with my daughter who was in Brussels to do some work at Covent Garden and the hotel proved to be right for our different needs.

This is a small quiet hotel in the heart of the busiest area in Brussels, Place Rogier. It is only two minutes away from Rue Neuf and the Metro stop is round the corner. The amneties are pretty basic but for business travel it is excellent. There is no mini-bar in the room and no coffee making facilities. Breakfast is very basic but staff are very helpful and friendly.

In a city dominated by high-rise soulless glass hotels, the Des Colonies was delightful. It has tradition combined with modern amenities and was value for money. Clean, comfortable and nice staff. The buffet breakfast was great. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms, windows that open and it is easy to find from the Nord station. I highly recommend this place. A word of caution. When arriving at night on any public transport do NOT leave by side exits or you run the risk of being robbed by gangs of Moroccans or even worse. I was lucky to be in the company of big Liverpool lads which made them back off.

I stay here quite often. This is a good hotel for the price in a very central location. The rooms are Ok, the breakfast is good and there are internet facilities in the rather majestic entrance lobby. Just a word of caution: there are no hairdryers in the room, one has to ask for one at reception. On the last two occasions I stayed at the end of the week and there were no hairdryers left for loan. Luckily I had time to rush over to Blocker in the shopping centre and get one. My advice is therefore if you definitely need a hairdryer go with your own.

This 100+ year old hotel is tucked away in a narrow side street a long way from anywhere a tourist would want to go in Brussels. It may be close to Rogier Metro station but even this station was hard to find. We tried to follow the map on the underground tram but had to get on and off several times before asking several people and arriving at Rogier. No escalators so had to carry our heavy cases (close to the end of our trip) up the stairs. On asking a man in the street who had to phone a friend we arrived at the hotel with its paint chipped front door, and had to press a well-used security button to be let in - this doesn't give one a good sense of security. We found Reception in the gloom down a long dark corridor which was even more off-putting. We found the Reception staff friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast in the large old dining room next morning was acceptable and adequate. I chose this Hotel by reviews and details about the location when it said it was close to the station. However this was a suburban Metro station 6 stops away from Brussels Midi station, and not the main station as I had anticipated. As another Reviewer mentioned, I too agree that this hotel should not be included in Brussels hotels on this site. There must be others more central and more appealing to tourists. Personally I could not leave Brussels quickly enough.....

I have stayed in Brussels many times but this was my first time in this hotel. I was very pleased with everything and would definitely stay again. This hotel is very central to the city centre and one of the main rail stations in the city. One small thing that I did not like was the colour of the serviettes in the diningroom, please change them to white or a lighter colour.

Nearby the metro station "Rogier" the Hotel Colonies is a good place to stay in Brussels. The staff on the reception and during the breakfast are committed and friendly. The room was very clean and daily tidy (quiet rooms are situated to the samll inner courtyard). The bath was quiet a little bit narrow, the shower head should be replaced while it extruded to all sides. The room should have at least one free power socket - to get power you need to cancel the tv-access. In the lobby you'll find a computer with internet acces for free. You also can use your private PC (WLAN) in the lobby for free internet access. Using the internet access in the room on your private PC is not for free. On balance, it's a good hotel for a trip to Brussels.

Having stayed at this hotel several times before I continue to be impressed by its location, the cleanliness of its rooms and the breakfast. Just one thing however the maid left my window wide open and when I returned there were bird droppings on the inside of the window sill. The hotel is housed in an old but rather majestic building and the only problem for me is that I have a (not obvious) disability which means that I have difficulty getting out of the bath and therefore need a walk-in shower. Unfortunately I am not sure that they have any at this hotel. Now that Rogier metro station has completed some of its renovation the plus for this hotel is that there is an entrance through the Manhattan passage just round the corner from the hotel. Great for me because I cannot carry suitcases up or down stairs and here there is an escalator (I used to walk to de Brouckere where there are lifts). One word of warning though one can never rely on escalators in Brussels, so if you have problems like me always have a plan B. I would be sorry not to be able to stay at this hotel anymore but since I had an accident this time when getting out of the bath which scared and bruised me, I can only stay where I am guaranteed a walk in shower. If this is not a problem for you this hotel represents value for money in a prime location - a great deal!

Close to the station and all EU institutes

This hotel comprises an old but rather majestic building which has retained most of its original features. The rooms are spacious as are some of the bathrooms, but old fashioned and simple. Unfortunately some of them smell of tobacco smoke. There is a good heating system in the winter and windows that open in the summer. A buffet breakfast is offered which is simple but of good quality. Tinned fruit and the usual cereals etc.. A good selection of breads and pastries, cheeses and cold meats, boiled eggs and toast. The coffee is drinkable which is unusual for the cheaper end of Brussels. The location is good if one wants to be near a good shopping Road (Rue Neuve) and the Grande Place. The other side is not so great being the start of the red light district which surrounds the North Station. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. The only extra is a daily city tax payment which one settles before leaving. Hairdryers are available from reception free but have to be asked for and guaranteed by a credit card. There are good metro connections and access although Rogier the nearest stop is difficult at the moment because of renovation and a resulting lack of escalator access and no lifts which is not good is one has a suitcase in tow. De Brouckere is a 10 minute walk away and has lifts to the metro platform.

Very convenient to hop on/off the underground streetcar lines to get around the city. The local neigborhood does not have much to offer and the streets are underconstruction (Feb/2011). An old hotel that is comfortable and clean with an excellent breakfast. The breakfast is a combination of German style with various cold cuts of meat and hard boiled eggs along with French style pain au chocolate and crusty baggette. They also have a modern coffee machine for all styles of morning coffee.

This hotel is horrible and should be removed from Hotels.com as an option , It is smelly , dirty, staff is rude and unhelpful. So bad , did not even check in , went to find another hotel nearby , which was much higher priced but was clean.

Hotel is very quiet and rather plush for the price, with Art Deco decor and furnisihings throughout. It is about 3 mins walk from Rogier metro station (ext 6). Breakfast is more than adequate and served in a pleasant, airy room. Hotel retains the slightly formal atmosphere of the military gentlemen's club it once was.

This was a short break to see the Brussels Winter Wonderland / markets. Extremely clean and fresh, non-smoking, simple but not basic, justifiably described as a Boutique Hotel. This quiet hotel is well located, very close to some of the "big chain" hotels but at very reasonable rates. We travelled by Eurostar to Brussels midi and onwards by taxi (our first visit). It is only a short walk to the metro system, and we travelled around and returned easily to Eurostar by Metro. Although there are no drinks making facilities in the rooms the self-service breakfast offered a wide selection of Continental items including cereals and a good variety of drinks. The food vending machine was poorly stocked during our visit but local shops were available until very late. There is also a variety of food outlets close by. The lift is antiquated but was operational. The double room was generous and the triple room had three full sized beds albeit a little cramped (Grandma shared with my two daughters). The main lounge appeared to be closed from late evening and the hotel appeared quiet over the week-end when we stayed at the end of November. The provision of a free internet terminal assisted us with planning the sight-seeing and alerted us to the advance purchase of various discount voucher schemes. (Check and see if the metro is still offering an all day 5 person ticket!) We would use this Hotel again.

Foyer looked great but rooms a bit shabby,. overall ok for a 3star. Location good.

In an area (Rogier) containing many top name hotels, the Colonies is tucked away in a back street almost next door to the metro station. But it's a nicely appointed hotel, with good decor (if fading a little - liked the fountain though), a nice bar (only opens 6-11pm though) and an excellent breakfast room & spread. The room itself (single) was small but fine and very clean. Small bathroom/shower OK, TV with 40 channels (only 2 English). Staff professional and personable. We chose it as we were travelling on the Eurostar early next day, which is fine as the metro line runs directly Rogier to Bruxelles Midi. A few slightly dodgy looking stripclubs in the main road, but nothing too grim. About a 10-15 min walk to the Grand Place. Plenty of bars within walking distance. Enjoyed the stay.

SALLE DE BAIN EXIGUË moins d' un mètre carre au sol , il ne fallait pas être trop gros! Sinon pour le reste globalement assez satisfaisant.

Hinta ja laatu eivät oikein kohtaa Brysselissä. Hotelli oli sieltä hintatason puolivälistä, rähjäinen ja kulunut. Äänet kuuluivat koko talon läpi siinä määrin, etytä joku innostui hakkaamaan patteria yöllä. Aamupala ei myöskään ollut hintansa arvoinen, sämpylän ja kahvin oilisi saanut kaupungilla halvemmalla. Sijainti oli ainoa plussa, melko lähellä keskustaan johtavia kävelykatuja.

The hotel is easy to reach from Rogier metro (2 mins) and is situated right behind Sheraton. Some restaurants are nearby and many more around Grand Place, only 10 mins gentle walk. A tired looking ambiance, rather dark internally. As the name suggests, the hotel is still living in the past with a wooden lift, and decorative columns in grandish looking entrance hall with high ceiling and statues all around. My bed was too soft and tended to sink when l lied down. All the classical features of a hotel d'epoch. On the positive and modern side, wireless internet, free of charge, worked very well in the room (3rd floor). The reception staff was excellent and very courteous - printed my airline boarding pass and brought it to me in an envelope! Did not try the breakfast - so no comments there. Overall, might try it again in the hope of a more comfy bed.

Hotellet ble anbefalt av bekjente men dette var desverre en flopp.Gammelt og lenge siden det ble gjort noen oppjustering av standard.Reiser i jobbsammenheng og avhengig av netttilgang, det var det men troligvis det tregeste nettet jeg noen gang har opplevd.Med det utgangspunkte droppet jeg også frokost til 15 euro.God omelett med juice over gata til 1/2 prisen.City tax ble belastet både i fra Hotels og hotellet ! Blir ingen retur på meg,,,,

Slitet rum med dålig lukt av rök och rengöringsmedel (trots rökfritt), trots detta var rummet rent i alla avseenden och kändes inte ofräscht, bara slitet. Det bästa var frukostbuffén som var fräsch, dock saknade jag grönsaker. Hotellet ligger i ett dåligt område med mycket uteliggare och prostitution, som kvinna bör (och vill) man inte gå ut ensam på kvällen. Välj byxor och heltäckande klädsel!

・玄関は普段はロックされていますので、カードで開ける必要があります。フロントが奥まったところにあり、初めて入館する際のコミュニケーションが困難でした。 ・無線LANは無料でしたが、通信速度が極めて遅く、業務上のメールの確認にさえ支障を来しました。

Hotelli on muuten ihan ok ja asiallinen ja siisti, mutta baarikaappia tai siis kylmäkaappia ei ollut huoneessa. Aamupalasta en tiedä mitään, koska sitä en hyödyntänyt. Aulatilat ihan asialliset ja riittävän "ilmavat"

un très beau hall d'accueil, adresse intéressante

L’emplacement de l’hôtel est parfait, à proximité de la Gare du Nord, de la rue piétonne, de plusieurs centres commerciaux. L’hôtel et les chambres sont très propres. Le personnel est très courtois est accueillant. La télé est très ancienne, les chaînes les plus regardées ne sont pas accessibles. Un peu cher par rapport aux hôtels de la même catégorie.

Das Hotel ist grundsätzlich schön und sehr praktisch gelegen, mein Zimmer hatte jedoch einige entscheidende Nachteile: In einem relative engen Raum standen 3 Betten, wobei des 3. Bett sowohl den einzigen Hängeschrank im Zimmer versperrte (so daß ich meinen Anzug nicht aufhängen konnte) als auch die Tür zwischen Zimmer und Vorraum blockierte (so daß diese ständig offen bleiben mußte). Auf meine Bitte, das 3. Bett herauszustellen, wurde nicht reagiert (ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer gebucht). Das Bett war schmal und die Matratze unbequem.

Näin kauheaa hotellia en ole pitkään aikaan nähnyt, viimeksi ehkä Venäjällä 1990-luvun alussa. Iljettävä sisustus, vanha vessa, huonot valot, epämukava sänky. Ruma ja kolea huone, likaiset verhot, ei jääkaappia, epäilyttävä siisteys. Piti vaihtaa toiseen huoneeseen kun ensimmäisessä oli nurkassa telkkarin yläpuolella iso musta hämähäkki. Niin iso, ettei näyttänyt eurooppalaiselta lajilta. En ole araknofoobinen, mutten tykkäisi nukkua hämiksen kanssa samassa huoneessa. En ole uskaltanut enää mennä ravintolaan, mutta jo varausvaiheessa tuntui siltä, että aamiainen olisi ylihinnoiteltu. Silityshuone on hyvä juttu, myös huoneen wi-fi. Huom. Sivustolla luvattu hiustenkuivaaja ei ollut saatavana! En suosittele, enkä menisi Hotel des Colonies:iin itsekään enää. Älkää naurattaako, kolme tähtiä! En antaisi ainuttakaan. Huom. Kaupunkivero ei sisältänyt huoneen hintaan, piti maksaa erikseen.

Slitet gammalt hotell. Dock rent, trevlig personal och prisvärt, bra läge nära norra station.

They charge 15 Euros for the breakfast. You get bread which is not fresh, the boiled eggs are green, and the coffee is horrible. Save the money and have breakfast somewhere else.

ビジネスで滞在し、アクセス・場所は便利。ただし観光名所にはちょっと遠い。部屋は広く、それなりに清潔。ただし暖房時期でないにもかかわらず気温が低かったので、夜はちょっと寒かった。シャワーのお湯がちょぼちょぼしか出ないので、不便。スリッパ、ドライヤーなし、アメニティはミニマムレベル。
