Enjoyed the room. Beds are comfortable. Would have liked a refrigerator and microwave in room.

The hotel itself was very nice, well maintained and staffed. Unfortunately our room (for 3 adults) felt a bit cramped, and we were a bit disappointed at the lack of a mini fridge or microwave. We visited Portland for funerary services for my father and spent alot of time in the room itself. Future visits may be questionable. There was no clear explaination of things that were included in the room and things that we had to pay extra for (like 3.50 for a bottle of water) when you include a coffee pot and supplies in the room) On future visits, we have discussed staying elsewhere as we were overall not impressed with the "Hilton" experience.

The desk staff were very friendly. However, they were out of the signature cookies... out again when we returned later... took until checkout to get our welcome cookies! The bathroom was aging a bit but the carpet in the room looked very new.

The Doubletree is a very nice hotel - the room was pretty clean and spacious (king size room). However, one thing I didn't realize when booking it, was that the rooms don't have a microwave or mini fridge. I can only assume that is so that you'll spend your money on room service or the restaurant in the building. Eating out 3x's a day quickly adds up - I would much rather have had at least a fridge that I could have put some drinks to keep cold.

Book it! I've always wanted to stay in these two round hotels since I was a little girl. My husband booked a room as a surprise. I was very pleased with this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the get go. There was a hockey tournement in town so there were A LOT of kids running around with parents trying to attend to them and their things, while check in. My husband and I mentioned how helpful the hotel staff was with these families. We thought it was great! The hotel is located across the street from the mall and you'll have your pick of restaurants. Our room was airy, bright, very clean. The bed was so comfortable we had a hard time getting up in the morning. We will definitely book this hotel again. Next time, we'll take the time to enjoy the bar and pool :)

The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant's food and service were excellent. We'd go again, and hope to sometime.

The hospitality is great and loved the cookies. Doubletree makes you feel welcome and completely at home.

We just spent a few days at this hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday. Travelled with a young family, brought our dog also. Room was clean and we were in the West tower. Pool was a bonus and was used by us each day for the kids - it is showing its age, but was clean and there were plenty of clean towels available. Plenty of chain stores and restaurants in the area (we ate out all the time), and its only a 10min drive to Portland city center. An enjoyable stay.

Clean rooms, excellent front desk service, slow elevators

The hotel is very close to mall, it is Not near downtown Portland. If you are wanting to visit or stay in Portland this is not the hotel for you. IT is across from the mall and lots of stores and chain restaurants. The room was small but comfortable. Comfortable pillow top bed...Soft sheets, lots of pillows, lots of soft bath towels. The pool area was nice and clean . Well maintained.

It was my first time in Maine and let me tell you that it was really beautiful I was around everything me and my family were so surprised if you are visiting Maine and want to be around the more urban/townsy side of town I suggest going to the Doubletree by Hilton

The bar & restaurant are understaffed. I won't blame long wait times, no service on staff, they were just having to serve more folks than they could.bed was not comfortable, sheets very scratchy.

this hotel should be rated at one star. and hilton should cancell there double tree flage from them.

Nice place. Overpriced. Wanted to eat in the evening but couldn't get attention of bartender so went elsewhere. Excellent breakfast buffet, but it should be complimentary.

The air conditioning system was very loud and either too warm or too cool in the room to the extent that it interfered with our sleep and we woke tired each morning. It blew really cold air when on and if we turned the temperature up - even to 72 F - it would actually blow heated air instead of allowing the room to heat up from lack of air conditioned air. Otherwise it would be a decent stop but due to this significant failure I would not spend another night there. The air system is not what was expected from this hotel line.

Hotel seems to be showing it's age but room was nice but rather over priced. Easy access to interstate, downtown Portland and waterfront area

Hotel was nice but front desk service very mediocre.

The room was very clean. The bed linens had a feeling if luxury. The towels were large, soft and plentiful as were the pillows. Although facing the street; and across from The Maine Mall; I didn't hear any noise from it or the other rooms. The selection of places to eat within walking distance was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed walking to the only Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Maine.

The only thing I would "complain" about was the smell of cigarettes in the hallway of the floor I was staying on. It's supposed to be smoke free. Other than that, the hotel is in a great location. It's across the street from the Maine Mall and not even a mile from the highways. Portland is easily accessible as well. I had room service and the food was very good. A little pricey, but that was expected. I would stay here again if the price is right.

Only issue was the water in the shower never got hot :(

Everything was fantastic except for room service. We found that the hotel offered to pre order breakfast. Seeing as the next morning was mothers Day and all the restaurants would be packed this was a great option. My wife could enjoy a great Mothers Day breakfast in bed and avoid the crowds. So we filled out the card and left it on our door for collection. The card was collected but breakfast never showed up. We were so looking forward to it but it never came. I figured because the hotel seemed busy and it was Mothers Day they were just running behind. It still hadn't arrived by the time we were ready to check out so we sought out a meal elsewhere.

The DoubleTree by Hilton in South Portland is a well known land mark as it is two round towers. It is conveniently located, off the interstate. I chose this hotel because of the indoor pool and was traveling with my two children. They enjoyed their time in the pool. The staff was polite and helpful. The room itself was comfortable and updated. The downside of this hotel is that the pool area itself is in disrepair and the hallways need updating. Also, the traffic from the interstate could be heard from my room. Overall, I would stay there again.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The room was clean, comfortable, and a good value, much nicer than rooms at a similar price. I look forward to staying there again.

I generally look at negative reviews as just a complainer-type personality, but I got this room on sale and in the future I will find another place to stay, even if I could get it cheaper. I must have had the same room as another reviewer, hopefully all the rooms can't be this bad. Growing up in Maine, the "round hotel" has always been a point of interest, but once you get to your room, any interest goes away. This was originally a Sheraton hotel for as long as I can remember, then a Wyndham for a short time when it was supposedly remodeled, I think they just painted and re-wallpapered, now it's a DoubleTree and not anywhere near the level it should be for that brand. 1st, the lighting is horrible, three lamps, the brightest one being the desk lamp do not provide nearly enough light, the room is very dark. 2nd, yes the furniture is dated and shabby, but the real low point was the apholstered chair... unidentifiable stains and just plain dirty. Actually, the whole room was rather dirty. The little decorative duvet I pulled off immediately by the corner of it, again stained and not clean looking. If something is stained that badly, it should be replaced, and not on the bed. The switchplates in the bathroom looked like they had never been wiped down, there was make-up all over the hairdryer, to the point where I didn't touch my hair, just blew dry, washed my hands and then combed it out. There was also makeup all over the bathroom door. The shower tiles were not 100% clean. If you can find this hotel in the less than one hundred dollar price range, stay at the Towne Place Suites in Scarborough, a little further down the road, not all the "hotel" services, but clean, large and very comfortable! And yes, an "extended-stay" type hotel will book a room for just one night. Do that instead.

Could have been alot cleaner. Restaurant was not open. Hotel staff needs to be better trained to answer customer questions and concerns.

The parking lot and the cleanliness of the share in our room were my only complaints. They did a horrible job plowing and clearing away the snow and there was a stain of some sort on the arm of the chair that I was uncertain of. Other than that it was a nice relaxing night away.

This hotel is old. The rooms need updating. The bathrooms are VERY small. The beds were fairly comfortable, but the room was stuffy. The pool and the room the pool is in was COLD! You have to walk through the lobby and the bar in your bathing suit to get to the pool room. We took a cab downtown to go out to dinner and it was over $45.00 round trip. Next time we will spend that extra money on a hotel closer to the Old Port where there are more dining options. The staff were friendly, but I probably won't stay here again due to the location and old, worn down rooms.

Hotel rooms need some updates and remodeling. Pool need renovation. However, location of hotel is convenience to restaurants and stores.

Kids had a great time spending the evening in the pool.?

My family and I enjoyed the warm cookies upon check in, the indoor pool, and a clean room to relax in for the night! We also liked the proximity to all the local sites; lots of restaurants, shopping, semi-pro athletic events, airport (when needed) etc. My last stay at this hotel was 7 years ago and the new owners have made some really nice upgrades. We will return!
