The shower curtain had mildew on it as did the tub corners. The air conditioning was on full blast even though it was cool outside. Otherwise, the staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel was quiet. Best hotel I've stayed at in the area.

This is a great hotel. It is very clean and they pool is very nice. I just found the beds and pillows to be very uncomfortable.

My husband wanted to stay here rather than the Hilton Express next door cause he thought it would be a better quality. Wrong! The bed was like a rock, so very hard. We paid extra to stay on the 6th floor as they had a concierge service with coffee, snacks, papers....but it is not open on weekends. Elevators clunk and bounce....the hotel was clean, and the staff very friendly, but not worth the price of admission. This hotel is getting by with a name, needs some upgrades. Had the breakfast buffett....did not realize it was not included....we got there early and sat down.....waitress asked if we wanted coffee and the buffet, so we said ok. The hostess came over about 20 minutes later and said there was a charge for the buffett. It is overpriced for what you get, I suggest ordering off the menu if you are going to eat there. This was not only my experience, as a few people that we talked to outside also complained about the breakfast.

The hotel is conveniently located near many different restaurants and businesses. It is easy to get to the highways but the hotel does not sit on the highway so there are no traffic sound issues. The room was very clean but there was a lingering smell of solvent which may disturb some people. The digital thermostat was a nice touch. The small room (lowest rate) was laid out well considering the square footage. The view from our side was of the large parking lot, so that left something to be desired. Front Desk staff are available and attentive. Avoid the restaurant when there is a special event (such as Mother's Day) as it will fill up and require waiting for breakfast even if you are a paying hotel guest.

The hotel was very clean and all the staff was very friendly. It's far enough away from all the action that its quiet, but close enough to do everything!! The restaurant at the hotel is delicious as well!

I love this place! The location is so close to shopping and restaurants, but yet it feels like you are staying in the quiet countryside. Besides the location, this hotel is one of the best which I have stayed in recent memory; comfort, cleanliness, family-friendly, friendly and helpful staff, great pool and fitness areas, etc. I hope I stay there again soon.

My wife and I live locally, but experienced an emergency when our furnace malfunctioned and had to be shut down, then replaced. The Marriott at Sable Oaks, South Portland, Maine (ME) took us in with minimal advanced notice and provided us with a wonderful three (3) night stay until our new furnace was installed and we could return home. While it's true that "...there's no place like home"; the Marriott proved to be our "home-away-from-home."

Thoroughly enjoyed the brief stay, a combination of business and relax time for my wife. Personnel were terrific as with all of my Marriott stays throughout the USA and Canada over the years.

The room and bathroom were very clean, the staff was friendly, and the pool and hot tub were great. The only thing I disliked was the very, very firm bed, but that is just personal preference. I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Great stay for a family of 4. I have to boys ages 8 & 9 and they loved the pool and jacuzzi. The pool area itself was very comfortable to hang out for me when I wasn't in the jacuzzi. I tried to use the sauna but it seemed took forever to heat up so I left. The rooms were comfortable for 4 people. We stayed and had the breakfast buffet and it was a typical hotel buffet. Nothing spectacular but everyone left full. Lots of fruit, cereal, danishes, waffels and the omlets were made to order.

Based on the reviews on the website we expected a very good experience. Hour tonight staying was greeted by the most uncomfortable beds I have ever stayed on. Seabeds were so bad that sleeping on the floor had more padding and were more comfortable than the beds they have in the room! While On the surface the hotel appears to be nice and the help was excellent the quality of the beds in the room were sorely lacking for the price! I will never stayed at this hotel Again!

Nice hotel. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. Very good food in restaurant, although lacking in ambiance. Convenient for mall or airport. Noisy corridor at night (right near elevator). Personable staff.

Poor housekeeping dirty sheets and they just turned them inside out and tried ot make us think they changed them. very dirty

The breakfast at Fire and Water was the best part thanks to a special from Expedia. We wanted to take our daughter away for a night of swimming and the pool was very small, looke much larger in the picture. The Bath and Body Works toiletries were nice. The room was very small and the headboard had greasy handprints on it. Not impressed. Typical dirty hotel room was not what we were hoping for.

The grounds are beautifully maintained as well as the lobby. However, we stayed in a pet friendly room that had an odor and stains on the carpet. The staff were very friendly. The kids enjoyed the pool area and the cookies placed near the elevator.

I enjoyed by time at the Marriott, but I was also a little let down because of no refrigerator and microwave. These two appliances seem to be very common in hotels and with this one being pretty pricing, you'd expect it to have them. Other than that its a great hotel in a great location. Less than 5 minutes from the South Portland Mall and the Jetport.

Hotel location is great . It's a well maintained hotel with friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again when I visit Portland the next time

This Marriott was nice enough- but not quite worth what we paid to stay there. Everything was serviceable and nothing was outstanding. The ice machine on our floor was "out for service" :( and no one mentioned it to us until we asked. The staff seemed to be pushing for tips. All in all, when I go back to Portland, I will find another hotel.

Great location, so close to great shopping, dining and highway, but tucked away in the woods. Quiet, beautiful and very nice grounds. Want to go back to take advantage of everything the hotel and are has to offer, and stay longer of course.

Met all expectations. Stayed in a local competitor hotel last year and was disappointed.

This was kind of a last minute booking. Although the room initially appeared clean, I noticed that one of the glasses in the bathroom had a thick yellow film around the edge....like it had been used and then just turned over and one of those paper covers had been put over it. Our bed was extremely comfortable but the sheets felt "pilly"....like it was time to invest in newer ones. The service in the restaurant downstairts left a lot to be desired...our waitress, although, initially pleasant got snippy when we asked for a bread basket. It came after we'd finished eating. People who came in after us got it when they got their drinks....So, all in all, somewhat disappointing.

The hotel stuff was very accomodating and welcoming. The hotel was about 10 minutes from Old Orchard Beach and right beside Maine mall & lots of restaurants so the location was amazing. Really clean hotel, great food in the restaurant...Since we were entirely satisfied, we are definately going to say here again (in fact this coming weekend).

For what we paid, I feel that we could've gotten a better room. It's like, all the money must've gone into the lobby and bar, cause the rooms themselves seem to fit in to a lesser dollar range. I would've rather slept at another hotel. The AC kicked on loud every 30 minutes, the beds were stiiff and the bathroom mediocre. Crammy old bathtub with a shower that had old grout lines... The room was clean and had a nice view, but that's about it.

The only thing that I did not enjoy, was the odor that hits you when you first walk in the doors. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay there. Thank you very much.

Couldn't have asked for better service and accommodations.

Very comfortable

The bed faced the windows and to watch TV you had to lay on your side so the other person on the far side could not see. We ended up laying crosswise on it and that was not comfortable. Run of the mill room decor nothing special. There was no lobby. At the main entrance there was a wall and two wing chairs, an end table between. The photos show a really nice breakfact buffet but we learned you had to pay for it - no breakfast.

Though we only stay one night this time or room was clean and comfortable and the price was in line with other hotels in the area on short notice.

Absolutely loved the stay. The staff was phenomenal in all respects and every staff person we walked by acknowledged us. Will definitely stay again.

Staff was great. Room was clean. Only critical comment would be that std double bed room was somewhat small.

Checked in early and came back later to a bottle of champagne and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. Wonderful addition to a memorable night.

We stay here 2-3 times per year. Great location and excellent service.

The receptionist was very efficient, courteous and she promptly checked my family in. She was very helpful to my family by answering all our questions She made certain that we were comfortable at this hotel. The swimming pool was very clean and we enjoyed dining at their restaurant. I would certainly come again.
