This is a great hotel, very clean and well run. Our only complaint is the housekeeping staff lets the doors slam while they are cleaning rooms in the morning. We must have heard them at least 100 times in the AM before checking out, very annoying.

the hotel was very clean and comfortable. it was in a great location and very close to kittery outlets which was nice! i would definitely recommend staying here!

Loved the location and the room. Overall, the hotel was very clean as was our room. Staff was very helpful with our finding a local restaurant for dinner. The pool here stayed open later than most hotels allowing our daughter to get in a quick swim following our night out on the town. Room was quite nice with updated furnishings...the bathroom, although very small, was clean and well-stocked with Bath-N-Body Works toiletries. Beds were a little soft for our liking, but not uncomfortable. Breakfast in the hotel dining room was quite tasty and portions were more than satisfying. Both check-in and check out were speedy transactions. The only negative with our stay was that there was some confusion between hotels.com and the hotel because they both billed my debit card. I called hotels.com and they, in turn, called the hotel to handle the reimbursement...I should have the credit in 1-2 business days. We would stay at this hotel again.

Breakfast in the resturaunt was excellent along with the service!

The rooms were fine, would like to have refridgerators in the to save some of the exquisit food from the hotel's kitchen. Have stayed at this motel twice and both times the kitchen's menu and food service is among the best! I would definitely recommend this hotel. Our five year old loved the pool. Oh, and the breakfast menu is really good too. Okay, enough about food, however, it was a great stay.

HI portsmouth was our choice of hotels for our girls shopping trip. We wanted to be close to downtown and the outlets in kittery, and this was a perfect location! The room was spotless, the bathroom and shower were also great. Service and food in the restaurant exceeded our expectations of 'hotel food' and the lounge at night is a great place to relax. Jackie was our bartender one evening and she was great to talk to and provided great service! All around I would highly recommend this hotel.

Good for family. nice pool. close to Portsmouth shopping and restaurants.

It was clean and at a good location so it served its purpose. Overall thought the price was too high for a holiday inn. Rooms are a bit noisy. We could hear our neighbors talking very clearly .....but it was only for about 10 minutes then they left. So it wasn't really an issue after that. There is an indoor pool. However, it's located right in the parking lot and lights are turned on at night. So there isn't much privacy if you care. They do provide breakfast. But I think Portsmouth has great breakfast places that are worth checking out. They hotel offers cookies in the afternoon, which is a nice touch.

The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel is very clean. Rooms were adequate but bathroom was on the small side. Pool was nice, but located in an odd place (felt like we were in the parking lot) as though it was added after the fact. Little things such as a mini refrigerator and chairs for the table would have been appreciated. Also we were missing a luggage rack in one of the rooms. We arrived early and asked if we could check in. Our rooms (two adjoining) were not ready but the front desk staff said they would call us when they were (this was a nice touch). When we arrived back after being told the rooms were ready, we found that only one room was ready. Had to wait an additional hour for the second room to be cleaned (which was also one hour past check-in time). Of all the places our family has stayed, this probably wouldn't be one of the top ones.

Our stay was wonderful. Staff very helpful. We were there for just one night for a family wedding. If I were to return to Portsmouth, I would not hesitate to stay here. It's right off the highway, just a stone's throw from historic area and price is much cheaper with free parking. Also, there's an excellent diner next door, a bonus as we were looking for someplace to have lunch before the wedding without having to go downtown.

We stayed one night and it was just like a hotel off of I 95

My wife and I had stayed at holiday inns in the past first time for this stay..room was ok and the bathroom was very small...very nice flat screen tv but no HD...my wife wanted a place with a pool so I found this location...the pool was cold and dirty...first to see that in a indoor pool so she was disappointed...but overall it was a ok stay...better luck next time...

Stay here if you don't want to sleep and if you want to hear what your neighbors are doing at ALL times.

Dirty sheets, was given another room, smaller bed where I requested a King recieved a queen, and the TV was broken. Also, the first room there was a complimentary condom left in the night stand drawer. Do not stay here.

Hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Was a little disappointed the treadmill wasn't working when I wanted to use it and there was no hot tub at the pool. Also, the fact that there is only one elevator was annoying. There is no other elevator for the cleaning staff so I found I had to wait A LOT. Our room was on the complete other end of the hall from the elevator. This said, I wouldn't have noticed this at all if we had stayed just the night. We were there for a family weekend so I noticed little things more than I usually would. It did look a lot nicer than the best western next door.

The convenience of location and neighborhood conditions are great as long as you're ok with a short drive to downtown. The room was clean and comfy with a nice hdtv flatscreen. The walls were a bit thin: be prepared to hear your neighbors if they're the frisky type...Wasn't a big/recurring problem for me, but I could hear the excitement. Then again, isn't that expected in older hotels? The bathroom gets lowest marks... -Too small -No exhaust fan (foggy mirror + lingering no. 2 odor) The size would've been more excusable if there had been a good exhaust fan present to get rid of steam and toilet odor.

The "Fitness room" is a hotel room with three machines in it - period, so if you like to exercise don't go here. Otherwise it is perfectly fine and well-located.

I was very unhappy with my stay. My room was not clean, and that is putting it lightly. When the representative from the front desk came up, she said it was not her problem and that I would be suprised at how often the rooms were like this. She just shrugged and walked off. I travel a lot, and I have never had such terrible service.

Room was nice location super for the price but the TV was poor. Too small and poor quality did not fit the quality of everything else.

The service stuff were not friendly and did not erven say hello to the guests! The Gym did not work properly (stepper and bike). The room was to narrow.

I just returned from a fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn with my boyfriend. Even though his GPS broke halfway through the trip, he was still able to easily locate the hotel since it was visible from the highway, which was great for us. We were told that we could try to check in as soon as we arrived even if it was before check in, but when we called the front desk that morning we were rudely told that we could not check in until 3. She did not even check for us to see if the room was ready, but we decided not to make a big deal of it and just walk to downtown Portsmouth, and we were glad we did! It was a beautiful walk, only about a mile and mostly on a quiet street with nice houses to look at. We spent the day downtown and then walked back to check in to our room. When we arrived at there, we were pleased with everything. It was clean and nice and cool, and the bed was huge and really comfortable! We stayed for two nights and had no complaints. Our towels were changed and our bed was made and the room seemed as good as new when we returned from our day at Water Country. It was really an amazing vacation and we would definitely recommend the Holiday Inn in Portsmouth to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in a beautiful area of New England!

We called ahead of time to let the hotel know that we were arriving late 11:00 p.m. because we were driving quite a distance. We were told no problem. We get there and were told they didn't have a room for us even though it was paid for fully in advance and we notified them that we would be late!!! They scrambled and told us to check out a room on the top level near a venting system it sounded like a freight train. I explained our disappointment and need to have a comfortable room due to a medical condition that I suffered from. So they provided us with a room that had water damage in it earlier in the day, we got in the room, someone either spilled coffed that was not cleaned up and the cream went bad or someone threw up in it, it was horrible in one of the corners. We couldn't take our shoes off. There were long strands of hair in the bathroom that were not disposed of. The bathroom was OK BUT was not thoroughly cleaned properly. The duvets had no duvet covers on them and the list goes on. They provided us with a complimentary breakfast which was very nice and the young man at guest services tried his best to make us feel comfortable BUT regardless we will never stay again. It was a total disaster!!!

I recently spent one night at this Holiday Inn and was very pleased with the hotel and the personnel. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The only flaw in my stay was the pillows. They are labelled hard and soft, but the hard are anyhting but.

The hotel was very nice and the people were very helpful. Only down side was that the ceiling were quite old looking and the bathroom needed a fan.
