Clean and comfortable rooms. Very good trade off between price and position!

Continental breakfast v good...fresh croissants ev morning, good coffee. Room v small, but adequate. Very noisy at night. We were on third floor, facing street and over bar.

the staff was great. only minus was lack of fruit at breakfast. but it was great to find a place that even included breakfast! Plus two nice quiet rooms in which to work with computers and printers provided! the bar opened at 5pm each evening & also offered a quiet and inexpensive way to wind down.

We stayed here for a long weekend, and it was perfect for our needs. It was clean, the staff was fantastic and the location is great. It is not an elegant hotel but the price reflects that. The room was small (as most older big city hotel rooms are),but the price was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

this hotel is not brand new, but everything is clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location, and bar and breakfast (thought light) was a great touch. Internet on first floor only, but that worked for me. The rooms are small but comfortable. Has a bit of a community feel like a hostel, but with adults instead of 18-22 year olds (though there are some of those too). Plug-ins are a little scarce. i stayed here b/c it was half the cost of surrounding hotels in the area. Great hotel for the price -- I would absolutely recommend it and would absolutely stay again.

Good for a night when there is nothing else. I wouldn't recommend bringing your date there. She might think your cheap.

Our reception was friendly and professional,the staff was helpful,the location was wonderful for shopping,dining and all transportation.The Beresford is a well priced no frills hotel to base out of.I have stayed there as a single and recommend it.My only wish is that wi-fi extended to the upper floors.The first floor has wi-fi and several nice rooms to relax and communicate on the net...just not in your jammies!

the wireless didn't work, and my cell phone didn't have service in my tiny room. it hasn't been updated in decades, and the window neither closed nor opened, and overlooked a building that was a few feet away. Definitely did not match what was advertised.

I have stayed at the Beresford lots of times. It is in a great location for meetings, with shopping. I think of the Beresford as a European tourist hotel. It's quiet, filled with a mix of younger to older tourists. It's modest but very comfortable, good beds.

Convenient to Cable Car and Metro Transit. Room was clean, comfortable. Could open windows for fresh air. Neighborhood was noisy, but as expected for the area. Walking distance to many restaurants.

Beresford was perfect! Excellent location, great service, clean rooms, fantastic value. Will definitely stay at this location on future trips to San Fran!! Wish I had known about this hotel years ago - 2 blocks from cable car stop and major shopping.

the beresford is the perfect san francisco experience for a quick stay at a great rate. Rooms are small and quiet and close to the square with a very cozy bar in the hotel. Mostly out of the country tourist staying at the hotel, which makes the experience nicer.

The hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing and restaurants. It is good value for money and the small pub next door is great for a nightcap. My only complaints were that the bathroom was very small and the room was noisey at night.

This hotel has an excellent location but is in dire need of repairs, and the service at the front desk needs improvement. I am not sure when ripped wallpaper, broken beds, and mis-matched furniture became the definition of cozy and unique. but this hotel's best feature is the location...which it shares with many other hotels. I have stayed at many hotels in the Union Square area (Sir Francis Drake, Westin St. Francis, Handlery, Marriott, Nikko) but we chose this one based on the pictures and because the others were booked due to a convention. for the price, this was terrible. The issues were numerous, but the most outstanding were how poorly the room was. I knew it would be small....that is fine, but the TV remote didn't work, the shower head didn't work, the bed literally sloped to one side and was badly broken, the wall paper was ripped on the bathroom, and no two pieces of furniture matched in the room. IT looked like it was assembled at a garage sale! The staff at the front desk barely speak English, which was trouble for some of the guests from England that we witnessed trying to get help.

Good experience overall, but try to stay away from the upper floor rooms in the back, as you will hear a fairly significant roar from the air handling units on adjacent buildings. Transportation to and from the airport is reasonable and reliable if you don't have a car. Note the parking charge at this hotel if you do have a car...it will cost more than the shuttle.

We booked this hotel because it was close to union square and was an inexpensive booking. We don't need a pool or spa, we went to see frisco and the beresford was perfect fir that. Would book again

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Great location, the rooms were cosy and clean and the staff were always helpful. Can't fault it for the price.

Quaint but with modern ammenities. Great location close to Union Square.

Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room smelled good. I can't think of the last time I remember "smelling" a hotel room. At least, smelling a good smell. lol And it was very clean. We used public transportation and the hotel had easy access to the buses, the streetcars and the cable cars.

Room and bathroom were exceedingly small, otherwise it was agreat experience.

Great location to restaurants and Union Square as well as Moscone Convention center. Like to have in room refridgerator.

Great hotel for where it is located. Old hotel no air con in rooms, no wifi in rooms. Shower was the worst I had ever used! Room was very noisy. A few of the staff on the front desk need to be trained in customer service!

Cheap hotel for mediocre quality. WiFi was not available in the entire hotel, so you had to find a hot spot most of the time.

Hotel was you get what you pay for. It was clean,the staff very helpful,the continential breakfast was basically non existant.

Excellent service. Ideal location. We will definitely return to this hotel when we are in San Francisco.

The room with small but perfect for one. Very clean the staff was fun and informative. Perfect central location Within walking distance to just about anywhere. I would definitely stay there again

Service and most of the amenities were very good, although the property is showing its age. The rooms are small, the view from the window was a wall just several yards away, the window would not stay open and the shower head was malfunctioning. There were computers and wi-fi available in the lobby areas, but no wi-fi in the room. That said, the room was clean and the service was very friendly. The hotel has a very good pub on the first floor, and the complimentary continental breakfast included fresh fruit -- a nice touch. I have stayed there twice, and would do so again.

This a nice clean hotel ! The location is great. Its a few minutes from Unios Square and a few minutes from Chinatown. Best part of the hotel is the location. The room was small but very clean. The furniture was celan but outdated. Bathroom was clean. Over all it was a good clean and comffy room.

This place made my vacation. Friendly staff, great location and a cozy hotel with character.
