Very comfortable hotel.

The staff were al very friendly and very helpful with any questions I had about the area. The in hotel restaurants were all very good with excellent food choices. Having the athletic club at my disposal was a huge plus.

Pool & gym hrs for a family were terrible! The gym looked like a dungeon. The food, however was great.

We were expecting a lot of cold weather so we chose this hotel because of the restaurants within the hotel. The location was excellent and enjoyed the close parking garage. We ate at all 4 restaurants and the service and food was great. Our room had a view of Cook Inlet and that was excellent. Really enjoyed the view. I just wish Fletchers was open at noon to have a place to watch TV and get out of the room in the afternoon.

Good hotel with a bit of wear and tear in Tower One---not sure if any section has been renovated-As Preferred Hotel memebers we had an early check in at 12pm --very nice surprise and a late checkout. A very spacious suite with two full baths and very reasonable. Breakfast is definitely overpriced at $8 for a box of cereal and $7 for a plain bagel. Dinner in Fletchers was priced ok and food was very good. Would stay again.

Great stay. The breakfast waffles with strawberries and wiped cream were very tasty. Room and general areas well looked after. If you need transportation to or from the hotel call and they will send a complimentary taxi to pick you up or deliver you to airport or train station.

We were a little anxious that the hotel would not be either comfortable or haveany decent amenities having read other reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor etc. However we were very pleasantly surprised. It is a very large hotel with several cafes restaurants and bars - all of which were good if a little pricy . They have some very nice shops and concessions. The staff were extremely helpful and firendly and our rooms were spacious and clean and comfortable. A minus - no air condtioning - which I suppose most of the year is not a problem as it is so cold there! but it was quite warm when we arrived and the rooms were a bit airless and hot to sleep in. (there are fans etc however)The rooms all appear to be suites with living room area and king/queen bedrooms but no sleeper sofa in the living area which was a little odd. They do have rollaway beds upon request though.We booked two junior suits since there were four of us - however they said they did have family suites with 2 bedrooms which would have been cheaper and suited us better, but you have to call them direct on that apparently as they do not advertise them on their website for some reason! In general we really enjoyed our stay there and would certainly stay again if we happened to be in Anchorage!

The Captain Cook hotel is well placed in Anchorage. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and big.

The hotel is a wonderfully maintained, grand hotel that offers every luxury and convenience. The rooms are large and well decorated, and they have everything a traveler could possibly want, including a fabulous health club.

Room itself was small and not a good value. Room was too warm for comfortable sleeping.

The hotel was o.k. but overpriced.

Amazing hotel and amazing experience. Everything is of the highest standard. A stay here is a must.

Just a great place to stay, even in the middle of the winter

This hotel has allot of hidden costs and is not that great for the price. I have had stayed at better hotels for less money. It is an old hotel but a local landmark is the only draw for this hotel.

This hotel is in major need of an update/remodel. We stayed overnight in Tower two. Talk about run down. Our bathtub had water damage and mold along the tile. Our cable did not work either. When we talked to the front desk about the mold issue, he simply said we will alert house keeping. It's like, HELLO! If there is mold all along the caulking and tile, you have a bigger problem. We will not stay at this hotel again. NOT IMPRESSED!

Top rate hotel!! Staff were very friendly and willing to answer questions, give directions and recommendations for travel. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Decor reflected the history of Cook with artifacts and paintings which was very interesting. Hotel had a great deal of character!!!!

This is the best choice for a stay in Anchorage - the others (hilton, sheraton, marriott) lack the history and flare of captain cook. BUT - my room was very dark, and the bathroom lacked lighting.

Since we live here we don't have a lot of excuses for staying at "The Cook" but when we do, it is always a pleasure. Walter Hickel, the founder, made the Alaskan Tuxedo fashionable business attire in the late sixties/early seventies and, today, high-strung society types might not rate it as highly as I do, but there is a reason this hotel was voted "Best Bathrooms" in the Anchorage Daily News' Best of Alaska reader poll. Go to enjoy it and you will.

Very pleased with this hotel and the service received. The food was great, too! Must go to the Crow's Nest but be sure to make reservations to set near the windows and see the great view. Would stay here again.

Very, very dated hotel. no A/C, No shuttle, No free Parking this hotel is not worth it. We also stayed at an Embassy Suites in Anchorage and the suite was much,much nicer plus it had A/C, free shuttle service, free parking ,Free happy hour, free breakfast and was considerably less expensive. This hotel apparently is living on it's reputation from 25 years ago but is far from a luxury hotel, although it maintains luxury prices for Anchorage

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very attentive, the Crow's Nest restaurant is a MUST VISIT restaurant. Great vistas, extremely reactive staff, slightest comment is acted upon before you even realize you said anything. Hotel beds were very comfortable, and I loved the pillows for comfort. Great nights sleep, walking distance to all typical area items of interest, good shops inside the hotel, can't complain about anything with this hotel.

While the Captain Cook certainly isn't the most modern of hotels, it is definitely TOPS in service. The room was clean, smelled fresh and was inordinately comfortable! My husband and I slept very well - very comfortably! We were greeted by friendly and hospitable staff. The service is impeccable! Room service delivered breakfast promptly when ordered and was lovely!! I cannot say enough about how wonderful a time we had at the hotel.
