The US Grant - A Luxury Collection Hotel - סן דייגו

The room was great -- spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was lovely. The only ding I would give is the shower was not as clean as it should have been (drain emitted unpleasant odors). But, I would definitely go back.

Liked the hotel staff and concierge, 100 fantastic restaurants within walking distance

We enjoyed this hotel and its convenient location. Room was luxurious and very nice. It is on the trolley and bus routes for going to all of the popular places. We could walk to the pier and the restaurants there. Nice walk to the Midway Carrier and ferry to Coronado Island. There is a Corner Bakery and French Bakery about a block away and some nice shopping. Also close to the Gas Lamp district. Highly recommended.

Perfect location! Steep cost for valet parking. $35 per night to park - YIKES!

My wife and I stay at only two hotels in San Diego and this is one of the two. The U.S. Grant is an old iconic hotel which is right in the middle of where you want to be in San Diego. It is always clean and the staff is very friendly making sure you are taken care of. Though this hotel is very pricey, being so close to everything makes up for it since we didn't rent a car and we either walked or took public transit, which is very efficient in SD. My only complaint of this hotel is the price, but it is so nice I really can't complain.

We stayed overnight to catch a nearby concert. Fabulous location; very easy to get to using public transportation. The hotel is beautifully restored with elegant rooms. Very luxurious and comfy beds, nice amenities. Some of the woodwork/mouldings in our room were grimy. Only real complaint was the demolition noise across the street that started at 7 a.m.; it sounded like WWI in our room. Would stay again in a heartbeat once construction is done, though!

It was great and relaxing

It was a great location, but the carpet in halllways and rooms was EXTREMELY stained and dirty. There was a smell of urine on the floor I stayed on. I was very disappointed with the lack of help when I checked in. We asked to stay in joining room and wait about 4 hours for this to happen and they still didn't make this happen. No one offered to help with our bags when we checked in. The air conditioner in my room didn't work very well it was always hot in my room. I don't feel that this hotel should have a rating of 5 stars. The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

Overall nice hotel. A little old but I enjoyed that. I didn't enjoy the construction at 7am Sunday morning doing demolition. I didn't get to sleep in like I had planned.

Great classy hotel, decor and ambiance is beautiful, location is perfect, staff was great, reception/lobby is grand. However, our room is a bit noisy from the construction, traffic, and probably lack of proper insulation since we can hear people's voices from the hallway. Also, for a 5 star hotel, there is no pool, not sure if there was a gym either :(

A beautiful, elegant hotel with impeccable service. While the hotel exudes old world charm, the rooms are comfortable and modern, with the exception that the air conditioning didn't keep the room cool enough at night.

The US Grant has a great location, amazing service, great restaurant and lounge. Can't wait to go back again!!! The staff is amazing!!!

The service at the hotel was excellent: friendly, helpful, and professional. However, we did have some difficulty reaching anyone from our room in order to get a non-feather pillow sent up to us. For over an hour there was no answer at housekeeping or the front desk when we called from the room and we finally had to get dressed again and go downstairs to the lobby to find someone. This was only at 8:30 in the evening, not the middle of the night. Unfortunately, our room was in need of repair. There was a large amount of black mold growing around the window frame in the bathroom, paint was peeling on the walls and ceiling in the bathroom, the windows had huge gaps in them letting in torrents of outside air which meant that the room heater had to run all night to keep the temp warm and it was quite loud, and the curtains had a tear and had fallen off the curtain rings several places (not a big deal but didn't give the impression of a well kept-up luxury room). The location is very convenient but there is a very run-down hotel opposite and we had a view of half-naked guys hanging out of rooms with broken and dirty windows. There was a lot of street noise from people out at the local bars as well. The lobby is beautiful and the bar is nice. Overall an OK experience. Not sure if we'd stay again.

Proper 5* hotel, excellent service, great room central location next to the Gas Lamp Area. Can't recommend highly enough.

Room is clean quiet but a little tiny... but knowing the building is a registered historical landmark, it is understandable... great lobby... very good front desk... close to Gaslamp District is a plus... no free internet in the room is a drawback... all valet parking with a daily $35 price is another extra cost not expected... too old style

Wonderul hotel in a perfect location. Exceeded our expectations as a luxury hotel. We parked the car in the valet at our arrival and never needed it until we left. Excellent location with in walking distance to everyplace we wanted to see in the gas lamp district. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We expected a nice stay with clean rooms and amenities and were not dissapointed. This is our new favorite spot in San Diego and will definitly be back.

Amazing hotel. There was a formal ball, costume party, and a wedding which was amazing to see the elegant people. The room was super cute. Bed was comfortable. The staff was amazingly helpful. Too bad the area during the day is full of homeless people. Likes that the hotel was across from neat places to go to at night, like the Yard House. I would recommend and stay here again. Worth the money!

Great service and beautiful historic property

It was great from the desk to the bellman sam what a wonderful staff you have. The grill food was great. The waiter the worst ive ever had in my life! I would definetly stay again

This hotel has a great history and appears to provide a luxurious experience. This was my second time staying at this hotel because my first experience was phenomenal. This time around there was a slight difference, employees were courteous and helpful as usual but other details were missed. I was on the fourth floor and the first thing I noticed walking through the hallway was a subtle smell of mildew. Once I got in the room everything looked normal until I had to use the phone to order room service, it didn't work! Then I went to use the TV and that too didn't work! An engineer was sent to the room to fix both problems in a matter of minutes. I also expressed my concern to the front desk at check out. Overall this hotel is great but I am concerned with some aspects of their maintenance.

Luxurious hotel near to the historic gas lamp quarter with beautiful rooms and extremely helpful concierges. Holiday-makers might miss having a swimming pool. We found the beautiful single-glazed sash windows in our room to rattle quite loudly with passing traffic.

We visit San Diego often, but this is the first time we have stayed at this hotel. We were very impressed and will stay there again. Everything was very clean and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly.

We had amazing time. the room was wonderful and we were treated great by every employee.

What service! I'm in the customer service business and wow, very impressed ! We'll be back for sure ! The concierge Albert, the valet Jose just to mention a few, were top notch service professionals always eager to make the best of our stay in anyway they could!

If you love historic hotels like we do, this is the place for you right in the heart of the Gaslamp District. The restoration is beautiful and they have done a good job documenting the history of the hotel in an exhibit in what used to be the carriage entrance. Not well marked but worth the time to see are the photos on the lower level and if you keep wandering you will find the Crystal Ballroom which is spectacular. The Harbor area is an easy one mile walk but the trolley stop is also right behind the hotel. You can walk to the Midway and the Surprise and also to Horton Plaza for shopping and the Gaslamp for jazz and partying the night away...no driving. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I only mention thie following because another reviewer had a similar issue. We asked for late check out but housekeeping came knocking at 8:00am. We were up and on our way out so not an issue for us but I could see (as another reviewer pointed out) if I had spent a night drinking in the Gaslamp, the 8am wake up call would have been unpleasant. All in all, loved this hotel and will defiantly stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful and we booked it because it seemed nice to stay here around Christmas. It wasn't cheap, but the rate was ok for such a nice hotel. However, they charge you for other things, that add up. We had a quick bite to eat, nothing special and they charged us gratuity because we are a family of six; a huge bill for nothing special.The parking was 35 dollars and for breakfast, the day after we decided to go elsewhere because it is so expensive. Our room was absolutely beautiful!, but very noisy at night. Since the building is old, it does not at all keep the outside noise outside, like the modern hotels do. Bathroom was stunning too, but there was an awful smell coming from the sink that made the whole bathroom stink. Overall; beautiful hotel, but very pricy and although the redid the whole place recently, it's not totally comfortable.

We simply can't be happier with our stay at the US Grant. The accommodation and amenities were luxurious and the service befits this luxe establishment. The attention, efficiency and professionalism of the staff were almost faultless - everyone in the hotel seemed to excel in the hospitality stakes. The location is convenient in the historic Gaslamp Quarter and a short drive to major attractions and shopping. A definite return to this property when we're next in SD.

Classic old hotel in mint condition. Excellent and well trained staff.

Really great friendly staff, room service was prompt and on time. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Room was small but clean and cozy. Only complaint is that there were weird stains on the floors in the halls. We thought we were walking in a haunted hotel. I think that if they updated their floors and just a couple things here and there, they could really up the rating easily.

Only stayed one night in room 633. Found all staff to be very polite and helpful. Room was very clean and comfotable, especially the bed. Good shower and hotel right on the door step of the Gaslamp. I would stay again. Went to the Yard house across the road for dinner and drinks which was also very good.

Great service. The hotel staff were extremely attentive. The room was very clean, elegant and comfortable. The bathroom was huge and top notch. The shower was huge!!!

Hotel was nice although the TV in the room wasn't working correctly (we didn't get all of our channels), the bathroom had a moldy odor to it and we couldn't get the room cold enough (thermostat said 65 degrees but it was definitely warmer than that).Service staff was excellent and the hotel is in a great location. Workout room was excellent.
