What a great hotel right on Bourbon Street. The hotel was clean, classy and a great place. But wow were my wife and I (ages 66) so surprised to see the strip joints and gentlemen clubs on Bourbon Street...very reminiscent of 42nd street in the 70's. Fortunately the hotel had a side entrance directly to Royal Street and close to Jackson Square.

Highly recommend the inner court rooms. There are two types, over the pool and over the courtyard. Very quiet, two doors to enter/exit room. Courtyard rooms have French double doors leading out. Service was great.

Everything was great. One thing to know. If you get a street side room with balcony, it's pretty noisy in the mornings, otherwise it was great!!

Great location on Bourbon Street. Being located on Bourbon Street, it was a bit noisy as would be expected.

For our first visit back to New Orleans in many years, we wanted a convenient location for shopping, restaurants and sight-seeing, and Royal Sonesta was the obvious choice. Fortunately for us it was a great choice for other reasons as well--beautiful lobby, attentive and helpful staff and great jazz in the lounge Desire. We were lucky to be there on a night Jason Marsalis was playing which was a treat. As others have noted, rooms are not large but adequate and most importantly, bed is very comfy! Yes, a coffee pot in the room would be nice, but not really a big deal.

The ups and downs of staying in party central are always part of staying at the Royal Sonesta-- hard to miss the late night revelers and yet, you should stay at another hotel if you want quiet. The service is excellent (the website should tell people who drive to go straight around the corner to the garage) and the facilities are really nice. Great music in the restaurant and a lovely courtyard to eat in. So easy to walk to all the fun galleries, shops, and old time restaurants.

Great location in the French Quarter. Desire restaurant is wonderful.

Myself and 2 girlfriends stayed at the Hotel Sonesta for 4 days.We were having a vacation and winter getaway. It was a perfect place to stay. Great location, booze, music and service.I especially want to recommend Richard, the head Concierge...he was so knowledgeable , and spot on. EVERY recommendation he made was super! The staff was just great.... kind, helpful and engaging.... in case you can't see....I loved the Royal Sonesta and would recommend it to one and all.

Perfection on all levels! Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, service was impeccable. Do "The Revolution" and order the oysters on the half shell with shaved cucumbers and mango on top! Yummy All of the food was delicious! Will return as soon as possible!!!! A shout out to "Coop" for his great help and fabulous personality.

I told the desk clerk I was there for business, not the Bourbon street atmosphere and they put me in a room directly above a bar that had live music and a DJ until 5 in the morning. I called the front desk to see about switching and nobody answered the phone. I just stayed up all night working instead of trying to sleep. I did not stay there the second night, I booked a different hotel. When I called to say I was checking out early they did not even ask why, they just said that I had to get in touch with the service I used to book the hotel to get a refund. I did not even ask for a refund. They were never concerned about my stay or my comfort. I will never ever stay there or recommend that hotel to anybody.

We live in New Orleans, so we were tourists in our own city. The hotel lobby was very nice looking, however, when we went upstairs to our room, some places in the corridors seemed a little dark and dreary. The room was a little smaller than expected, but not to tight. The bathroom was big enough for two to move around in. Toilet was one of those tankless, commercial types with a flush-valve sticking out of the wall, like you would see at a bus station. It seemed out of place, and we had to "double-clutch" the valve to get it to flush satisfactorily. We paid extra to get a balcony on the Conti street side. There was really nothing to look at. One thing I did not like; I woke up in the middle of the night and grabbed a bottle of water for a drink. I didn't realize it wasn't complimentary: $6.50 for a liter of of Evian. Parking overnight in the hotel garage was an extra $40. When I spend as much as I did, I expect services, not surprises. I'd recommend this place, just don't expect too much band for your buck.

Great location, fabulous staff, clean room, comfortable bed & pillows. Had a courtyard room, wasn't bothered by the Bourbon Street noise.

Very nice hotel--quaint and comfortable. I would not choose to stay right on Bourbon Street again--near but not on.

I loved this hotel. It was beautiful, comfortable, the staff were very friendly. We had a balcony room, which was fun, but be prepared for the noise level at night! This is to be expected on Bourbon Street. It's a great location, even if you want to explore the "non-party" zone of the French Quarter.

Hotel is right on Bourbon Street, which can get crazy, loud and smelly depending upon the night. Fortunately, the hotel and rooms were quiet. Unfortunately, however, our room stunk of cigarette smoke. The rooms are pretty small but sufficient for two people. Elevators are SLOW! The Bell Staff are friendly and accommodating. Front Desk Staff seemed a bit stressed. Though we arrived at 2:30, we didn't get into our rooms until 5 pm (check-in is supposed to be 3 pm). Not a horrible hotel, and the location is good if you want to be in the FQ (and on Bourbon Street).

This was our 23rd trip to NOLA Bd our 2nd time at this Hotel Our room was beautiful and comfortable Wish we had a coffee machine and fridge but PJ's Coffee Shop in the Lobby was convienant for that first cup of coffee each morning We enjoyed the pool and the fitness room New restaurant R'evolution was top notch and has made our favorites list

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was wonderful. There was no noise. I would definitely stay at the Royal Sonesta again.

Royal Sonesta is the ideal place to stay if you want to stay in the french Quarter.On the 3rd block of Bourbon St. it is in the heart of it all. The hotel is clean,the staff friendly and helpful,food is fantastic.Also there is secure parking below the hotel.We have stayed here many times and will many more as this is the only hotel we will stay at when traveling to New Orleans.

Had to go to a different floor for a coke. Had to go really far!!

The hotel was beautiful, conveniently located, and the staff was awesome.

We werevery satisfied with our stay. Staff and service was incredible and extremely helpful! The French Quarter was very welcoming and had an incredible pulse and southern vibe. Exactly what we were looking for. Can't wait for our next visit......

Perfect place to stay for our 2day stay in New Orleans. Love being in the French Quarter so close to all the places we wanted to go. Hotel is beautiful and the staff was very helpful. We will stay here again!
