Herodion Athens - אתונה

The Herodion Hotel was a pretty great hotel in an amazing location. The service was great and the people were very friendly. And it really is just steps away from the Parthenon and conveniently located near the tram to take you to the beach. The view on the roof top of the Parthenon is also amazing and great for relaxing with a drink. My only complaint is that you have to pay to have the jets run on the hot tub. I believe it was 5 euro for every 15 minutes and it just became annoying to put a time limit on that kind of relaxation. Otherwise, it was a really great trip and I 100% recommend the Herodion to anyone.

Very good and clean hotel, excellent location, good breakfast very friendly and helpful staff. From negative side is lack of coffee maker in the room or even in the lobby, another inconvenience you have to pay and renew internet connection for every 24 h. 4 star hotel should afford this few thing at this days coffee maker and free internet are attributes of less star hotels.

Hotel was great. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The location is close to everything, all the important land marks. My only wish is that it was closer to the Plaka area, but it was still only 10-15 minute walk. I do not recommend the day tour of the three islands that is offered. You spend more time on the boat than anything and it's not really worth the money. Everything else was superb! I will definitely be back to Greece.

Nice roof top deck with a great view. Many restaurants just a block a way. Metro is just 2 blocks away. Clean, modern rooms and a very helpful staff.

We arrived in early April, we were told they had plenty of rooms available. The hotel was very close to the Parthenon, the checking was friendly, however as soon as we got up to our floor smelled a bit unfresh. The room was very small, no closet space, and smelled like stagnant water. The mattresses and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. We only spend the time there we absolutely needed to. On the bright side they had a great, fresh and tasty breakfast. We believe this hotel is barely a three star considering everything.

We had booked a room at a nearby hotel which stated that the room would have an Acropolis view. It did but only if you stood on the small balcony and turned completely left. When looking out the sliding door! you looked directly into an ugly building. So we moved to the Herodion the next day and stayed in a room that stated Acropolis view and it did! The room itself wasn't quite as nice as our first hotel, but the view was what it claimed to be. In addition, it had a rooftop deck for sunning with magnificent views and an outside hot tub area, which we didn't use as I believe there was a small fee. The room was very nicely kept, clean and attractive, but nothing special, then again the rate was quite reasonable. You can walk everywhere from this hotel and I would highly recommend it.

Very good location to walk to most of the sights and the Metro. Breakfasts were excellent. Staff were very pleasant.

I selected Herodian because of a review on TA. I would for sure make that same recommendation and for sure stay there again.

This was one of the best locations in town, nice clean Hotel, very friendly staff, and tasty breakfast. Pay a little extra for a room with a view. Will recommend this hotel to all friends and colleagues traveling to Athens.

The hotel is clean and modern. Very comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and bountiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is glorious...moments from the Parthenon/Acropolis... And right next to the Acropolis museum-- which is a fabulous building..Find the chocolate/ baklava shop around the corner on the way to the metro...delicious! The hotel did a lovely job transporting us from the airport-- would highly recommend spending the money for that convenience. Truly a perfect hotel for any type of visit to Athens.

Great location, and a good buffet breakfast! My room was cleaned everyday and the people were very nice.

We had an outside room overlooking the street. Would have hated the interior rooms!. Everything comfortable and lovely breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Have to pay for internet access. Great location near sights, restaurants and metro. Wonderful rooftop terrace view (especially at night) of Acropolis and Museum. Definitely recommended!

Very nice hotel! Beautiful lobby and entrance. Great price! Rooms and shower were clean. Rooms were small but fine. The hotel does charge 5 euros for Internet which I thought should be included. The staff were very nice but it would have been nice if they offered to help with my bags when they saw I was struggling with them up the stairs. I ate at the restaurant and the food was very good and god portion size. I would recommend and stay again.

We did have a small problem with the room type but that was fixed for us on the 2nd day. The bed was comfortable and room big enough to walk around comfortably.The staff was nice and polite, we ate breakfast every morning and the staff was always helpful, The hotel is close to the Metro stop (Acropolis) and nearly on top of the new Acropolis Museum, The access to the pedestrian walkways around the areas was very quick and easy. The street itself may seem "rough" but it was not uncomfortable for us. We would go back here if in Athens again,

Excellent stay at the Herodian. The hotel is located within walking distance of all the ancient ruins, The Acropolis, Mars Hill, etc. Outside our baloney was the Parthenon...beautiful sight, especially at night. The hotel staff were extremely helpful. Clean, spacious, quiet room. Very enjoyable stay. Would highly recommend!

Excellent location, near the must see sights. Hotel in quiet street, away from busy traffic and busy bars, but within walking distance to them. Hotel was very clean, and the staff were efficient and friendly. Room was very spacious. Breakfast was excellent , would stay here again, if in Athens.

I transferred here after several days at the Hilton while switching from work to leisure, and though the Hilton room was larger and fancier, Herodion was absolutely lovely and couldn't have had a better location. I also really liked the staff and the breakfast. The room was modest sized but quiet and comfortable... only negative that they were having some problems with the internet on the upper floors so I had to use my laptop on their lobby connection (but they waived the 5 euro per day fee). Just a really nice place to stay and I'd repeat in a minute

There were no non-smoking rooms available. The hot tub was cold and would only be turned on for 15 minutes and only for a small charge. The room with a view was really a room with a view of a school fence. The room was quite small. Overall the convenience of staying this close to the Acropolis was outweighed by the disappointment of this over priced hotel.

We stayed at the Herodian for 6 nights when participating in the Athens marathon. The staff were incredibly helpful for our whole stay even starting breakfast just after 5am to accommodate our early start on marathon day. Very clean throughout. A really comfortable stay.

Great central location to many attractions. Very friendly staff. Hotel rooms need some minor updating.

The location was very close to the Acropolis and museums, which was the primary benefit. The hotel itself was adequate. The negative was that the hotel staff were unfriendly and not helpful - very grumpy men.

It was great hotel, with a great and reasonably priced restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and there to help with bags and anything you needed. Clean rooms, great service will not go wrong with this one. Would like to go back just to stay in the hotel....

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The location was close to the Acropolis and its musums. However, it is about 15-20 minutes walk to syntagma square.

Ideal location for sightseeing and lots of restaurants nearby, all within walking distance. Metro station around the corner so easy for other places too though onlt stayed overnight so no time to utilise. Hotel was beautifully furnished, staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was plentiful with a good choice. Room was small for 3 people and on iside so window overlooked and internal wall - would have asked for an alternative room if we'd stayed any longer, but okay for one night.

We liked the location. It's just below the Acropolis, a 5-minutes walk to the entrance path. Also a quick walk to the Plaka.The hotel has a very nice restaurant with reasonable prices. There is also a roof-top dining room/bar with a terrific view of the Acropolis. Only dislike: in-tub shower. Hard for seniors to step in and out.

Great location and value. Awesome view from rooftop of the Acropolis and a great spot to sit in the evening for a drink or dinner.Very helpful staff and a very nice breakfast buffet with a wide variety. Easy walk to everything, Very happy to have booked this hotel.

We enjoyed the five day stay (in two bits) at the Herodian. It was peaceful and quiet and yet so close to the Acropolis, Plaka, metro station and many more interesting/useful places. The service was good, the people friendly and helpful, and the breakfast brilliant. By way of improvement we would suggest that the room service starts providing coffee/tea earlier than the 07:00 hrs start time that they have now. Excellent; will go there again.

Hotel location was spectacular, the proximity to the parthenon and the museum was unmatched. The hot tub with a view of the parthenon was amazing. surrounding neighborhood was safe and quiet. Metro station twoo blocks away. Will stay here again

We stayed here for a night in September. The photos look lovely and the hotel was clean but we had a truly tiny bedroom and bathroom. For example if I opened my case I couldn't get round the bed and the ‘wardrobe’ could hold about two shirts. Breakfast was quite expansive but not of the highest quality. The jacuzzi / roof garden was lovely though with excellent views of the Acropolis. It's a convenient location close to most places but tiny rooms for the price.

Very convenient to Plaka, Parthenon and Acropolis metro station. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Good value. Would return even though hotel starting to age a little and is due for major makeover soon.

Stayed at the Herodion for a night in early September. The location was great being so close to the Acropolis made it easy to see all the sites. The hotel itself though is a bit dated except for the lobby and roof terrace. The breakfast was not great. Overall if you are looking for something with easy access to the tourist sites and public transportation then this would be a reasonable choice. I would advise against it though if you are looking for a boutique style hotel or service.

My husband and I spent 10 days in Greece for a vacation. By day 8 we were ready for a comfortable, king size bed, so we decided to spend the last two nights of our trip at the Hotel Herodion. As we had hoped, the beds were nice and comfortable, a "real" king size with nice linens. The room and bathroom were a nice size as well, clean with strong air conditioning and working mini-fridge. We got the "Acropolis View" room with a balcony. The service was good, but we got MUCH better service at the less expensive hotels we stayed at earlier in the trip. The two lead desk clerks we dealt with were quite snobby, which took an effort for me to shrug off. However, we did order a drink at the bar while waiting to meet a friend, and the bartender was friendly and the drinks were nice and fresh. (Fresh squeezed orange juice for the cocktails). The breakfast attendant was super friendly as well. He even taught us a couple of words in Greek, which we thought was fun and charming. The location is good, but there are MANY hotels that have as good or better location than this one. Note: There are two Jacuzzi tubs on the roof. You need to make a reservation and get a special key and towel to use them, and you get 15 minutes at a time. All in all, I'm happy we spent the last couple nights of our trip at this hotel, just for the bed and A.C., but I'm glad we didn't spend our whole trip at this hotel. I think that we would have missed out on a lot if we had.

The price for this hotel was great for its location and service. The rooms are normal/solid for a downtown hotel in Europe. While not big or stylish, they are clean and comfortable. The staff was always there when needed and the location was close to, while not in the middle of, the tourist area.

Not upscale but a clean, well located, friendly staffed hotel. The new museum is right next door and to the pedestrian street with great cafes, restaurants, gelato, shopping, etc. Metro stops right there also. Great view of the Acropolis & Parthenon. Only point of immense frustration...WiFi service. On this trip we had traveled through France and Turkey and every hotel was free with great connection through the entire hotel. The Herodian charges a modest fee daily. No problem paying but they have a different network on each floor. When you moved around, it causesd you to disconnect. Then you have to call the reception to reset your account each time. We paid for 3 device fees and had to do this numerous times a day---Totally Crazy! Other than this frustration that really needs to be addressed by the hotel...I would recommend the Herodian. Very Friendy staff. Great Location. Horrible WiFi setup.

Close to many of the sites in Athens, this is a good hotel for convenience. The room is average and comfortable enough, and the roof top view while relaxing in the spa is amazing. Breakfast is pretty average compared to the other hotels we stayed at, and the door to our hotel room was also very hard to open as it jammed on the carpet. A no frills location to stay at while exploring the sites of Athens

A la carte pricing for amenities reduces quality of value compared to neighboring hotels. Website also doesn't make it clear that you will have to pay extra for wifi, jacuzzi, etc. so it extra disappointing when you arrive. Also, the rooms look much better on their website than what I actually got. When I compared notes with friends at other hotels, I found better value at other hotels (location, room, amenities, price). Overall not bad, just not great.

Great location, next to Acropolis, wonderful rooftop garden with gorgeous view. Rooms are very clean, but tiny by American standarts. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Apart for the excellent quality of the hotel, what set this hotel apart is its location. It is exactly at the heart of Athens, Beautiful view of the acropolis and situated right next to the new acropolis museum and about 10 min walk from PLAKA, the small legendary neighborhood with all the restaurant and café

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, great location, safe, close to major attractions and the metro. Helpful, professional staff. Lovely public areas, including the roof top garden. Our only criticism is that the room was a little small to accommodate our luggage.
