Brookstone Inn - La Crosse

Other reviews are correct that often there is a lot of smoke. We had a smoking room across the hall from us and often smelled smoke in our non smoking room. Free breakfast was good. Room very small. Bathroom was remodeled and great but the sink is weirdly very low. Shower was good. Towels good. You get the use of the Best Western across the street for laundry fitness center and indoor water park. Also pool table. Area was not the best but ended up being safe. Would not stay there again. Not a good place for non smokers n

While on a recent trip, I reserved a double queen room. When I got there, I was given a single queen room. The receptionist offered to fix it and give me a double. I kept the single because it wasn't a big issue. What concerned me is that I was still charged for the double room. When checking out, the hotel wasn't able to give me a receipt because I had booked the room online.

Nice & clean---good value for the money

The staff (cleanging), was very rude and all the mgr did was say that she would try to speak to them. Also the breakfast area wasn't kept full and was dirty.

Very helpful staff, we reserved a two bed room and were accidentally given a room with one bed, staff quickly changed our room no questions asked! Thank you!

The rooms were very reasonable, the staff was very nice. Not the most spotless room in the world, there was pizza sauce (I hope) on the side of the bed, but other than that it was what I would expect for the price.

A good place if you are looking for a basic stay. We didn't use much of the amennities . Check in and out was easy and friendly. Room was adequate for us. Rate was reasonable. Breakfast was standard fare.

it was overall ok, but at about 3 am, several drunk guys were fooling around in the halls and were opening/shutting their doors over and over again and were talking really loudly. 30 minutes went by before anyone said or did anything about it. They did shut up afterwards.

A port in a storm. Good to have even a small pool & spa for us. Noisy between rooms & hallway traffic. Breakfast was OK. Room cleanliness was OK. Looking dog-eared with carpet and lampshade stains, minor plumbing problem, no temperature control - but we made it comfortable. Pillows were more usable than most - not too fat & fluffy. Magnetic card locks were cheaply installed on room doors.

Not dissapointed at all.

The rooms were not clean and it was loud all night. If you want a good night's sleep this is not the place to go. The hotel's location is ok and the front desk worker was friendly enough but there were odd smells in different parts of the hotel and people running around screaming and talking at all hours of the night. Not a good experience.

Had a clean room, with a contentintal breakfast was a very good value

all in all it was a nice clean hotel, one exception is we got stuck in the elevator for a minute and had to call the front desk.

We enjoyed the stay. However, when we tried to use a side door, our room key did not work, and we had to walk around to the front entrance. The clerk did apologize for the inconvenience and reset our room key. We like this motel for the rates and the location in LaCrosse, since we are from Stoughton WI.

Our stay was very satisfactory. We had booked a 2-bed room. Apparently, they were overbooked, so they gave us a king suite. Very nice. Thankfully, two beds was not a REQUIREMENT!

This is the second time we have stayed while visiting our son at colledge. It is a cheap stay with a good location for us. The staff was wonderful, helpfull so attentive. I think it is not good PR to have staff smoking at front entrance. Sheetrock torn off in our bathroom. Doors repaired improperly, jam missing parts. Comforter stained. The pool cleanliness with rings around the whirlpool and green matter on the deck kept us out of the pool area. Would we stay again? Probably yes for the cheap stay and great staff and location.

This hotel is fairly typical of those in its price class - basic rooms, basic free breakfast. I needed a place to crash for the night after an evening event, and for that purpose, the Brookstone was fine. Hotel staff were friendly. WiFi in my room was free and the connection was decent. My only mild complaint (and this is not at all unusual in hotels like these) was the relatively thin doors/walls -- I could hear a couple arguing at 2am down the hall.

Location was great, but the morning I left I had to carry my luggage down 3 flights of stairs because the elevator wasn't working. Bed was extremely uncomfortable, pillows were flat, and there is no way the bed was queen size, if not a full size. But I chose this hotel for it's price and location which were great.

The motel is older and pretty beat up. Carpets and walls were dirty in many places, our room door jam was open to the unfinished wall, and the pool was a bit cloudy. Having said all that, the price was reasonable and everything was functional enough. Just got the impression the place was sort of dirty and in disrepair.

The room was nice, but early shuttle service to the Airport wasn't available and that was disappointing. Had to get a cab.

Everything about your hotel and staff were fabulous. The only thing that would have improved our stay is the use of a refrigerator. Thank you!

This is one of the best values ever. I don't understand the negative reviews here, those people must be expecting the Ritz Carlton or something. For less that a tank of gas I'd say the Brookstone Inn is one heck of a deal. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. No problems with door locks or overall uncleanliness mentioned in the reviews - maybe I was lucky? Didn't use the pool, but I walked past it both nights and it looked clean and kept. A couple of families were using it and looked to be having a blast. The breakfast was nothing special, but then what do you expect? I've spent 3 times as much on a room that has been half as nice as this one.

staff was helpful and friendly; room was neat and clean; breakfast was adequate and good. Was pleasantly surprised considering the price-would stay again.

We just needed a place for 3 boating couples to lay their heads. This place was perfect. Clean and super affordable. Nice simple breakfast included. The hotel across the street had a fun band in their lounge and was twice the cost so we had the best of both worlds. Would stay there again.

The staff was excellent, and very helpful. The location is excellent for getting around to downtown, Riverside Park, and to I-90. The free social hour is a nice plus. And I got a great rate with Hotel's.com

The hotel was average. We were on the first floor and the noise from upstairs sounded like they were right outside the door. We asked the frontdesk what was going on and were told there was no one staying on second floor because it was under renovation and it must be the construction workers/ The noise continued non-stop and it was the sound of running...definately not construction workers. When we said something again to the front desk they said they spoke to the people staying above us and asked them to stop the kids from running....but I thought yu said there was no one staying above us? They didn't have an answer as to why they said no one was there originally. They did quiet dow nuntil 7a the next morning when the kids apparently woke up and began running again. That was a short nights sleep!

At first I was put at the end of the registration desk, the first door in the hallway. I asked for a substitution and the maintenance man was able to verify another room was open and available. Much quieter, clean and cool! Getting around town was ez, and the desk recommended a good place to eat. I would stay there again!

After reading some reviews I was a little nervous about booking. But it was a very nice hotel for the price. The kids enjoyed the pool and the breakfast. All in all, it was a very nice stay.

Room was okay as far as cleanliness and comfort. Locks on the doors were too flimsy, the peep hole did not work, and there was no chain on the door. From midnight to 3 am there was a great deal of noise, yelling, and foot-pounding in hallway. Staff was only marginally helpful with dealing with this problem. The continental breakfast was awesome.

I had to change rooms twice. The air conditioner in the first room did not work properly, the second room smelled like it was a former smokers room, finally the third room was fine. This hotel was OK for the price. Next time I'll stay at a chain hotel and spend a little more.
