Great rates. Kind helpful staff. Older, needs some newer furniture (chairs) but a wonderful value and location. WE were happy.

Wasn't happy that taxes were added on top of my reservations

A nice place to stay in Solvang. We went cycling around the Santa Ynez vallen and a bonus is the Bicycle Shop across the street. The room and service was great.

After having planned a nice getaway for the week-end, nothing could have been worse than not being able to check in when we arrived after 2 hours of driving! When we tried to check in, there was nobody at the front desk. After ringing their doorbell repeatedly, we finally gave up and tried to find accommodations elsewhere. After an hour of finding no vacancies, we came back to see if anyone could be reached. The lady at the hotel FINALLY answered us (it was not even that late...around 10:15 pm). We got a room, but only after wasting almost an hour of our time and adding frustration to our trip. We did not feel as if the lady even cared that we had booked the hotel online, and was unfriendly (as if we inconvenienced her for getting her out of bed). In spite of all this, the hoom was clean, the hotel was conveniently located to shops and attractions, and the breakfast the next morning was very good and served by a friendly young lady. They just need to improve their check-in policy.

we love the casino its near by, so went for that and get to our pastries that we can't find in los angeles, we didn't make the rounds around solvang as we wanted cause we got stuck at the casino...our winning not too bad and able to play for a long time with the winnings...my boyfriend went for the simple breakfast and very pleased with it, he brought me back a danish and oj that was very good...we also went on a day where it was pretty quiet and not busy , they let us check in a bit earlier we appreciated that and your walking distant to all the bakery, restaurants and shops

We have stayed here many times before and have always had great service, friendly atmosphere, and a feeling of being home. The staff is very informative and will do all it takes to make your stay enjoyable.

Beautiful location in lovely Solvang- Well cared for spacious rooms, with a great pool in the plaza. What more could one ask for? Relax a little with the breakfast! The meager choice and supply of foods was not put out, but meted out by a server in a window. Please, sir, can I have some more?

We felt so comfortable here the one night we stayed. The lady who checked us in was very nice and accommodating. The room was very clean and had a fireplace! It was conveniently located to the shops and restaurants - we walked to them.

We were a group of six, three couples. When I made reservations a month in advance, I asked for three rooms, each with a king size bed. Two couples were booked at the same location and one couple was given a room further away. Also, your hotel served danish rolls as a complimentary snack, but you should have a sign posted that only one danish roll per customer, that would prevent an embarrasing situation.

We enjoyed our stay ,hotel was very comfortable and clean.Restaurants and shops closed between 7:30/8:00 pm, if you like country quiet evening this is the place!.....lol.Rooms included continental brakefast but limited to 1 small Danish pastry or a baggle and a glass of orange juice (if so call juice) dont ask for a second serving you will have a sorry cannot do,otherwise every thing was fine.

The hotel room is huge and clean. Easy walk to the Mission, museum, and shopping areas.

The place was good... the people were great!

Room was very plesant the staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitly will stay here again. The free breakfast was very good. Has a nice pool and spa. Close to all the sights in Solvang.

We arrived late at night and the hotel was called "Svengaards" so we thought that wasn't it. We drove up and down the street, finally went to the office, which was dark, to ask directions. There was a room key with our name on it. Turns out "America's Best Value" is a tiny sign, low to the ground. Svengaards is the giant, lit sign. We mentioned that this was confusing to man at desk. He was polite but stated he doesn't think it is a problem. Room was clean but dated and unfortunately, we did see a cockroach.

A lovely hotel. We got much more than we expected for the price! Everyone was so nice. Loved the breakfast pastries!

The staff was very nice. The room was clean and neat. The wall are so thin that you can hear everyone around you and that was not great.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times and everytime it is a great experience! It is the perfect location in solvang and the rooms are a great size!

We stayed here on the second night of our honeymoon 29 years ago. It is still quiet, rustic, friendly, homey and comfortable. I would smack around the housekeeping staff a little bit, as the rooms could be so much better with a little more attention to detail. Location is unbeatable. Really enjoyed our stay.

We managed to get a very large room upgrade I think because we're members of their 'Value Club' scheme. It was really cosy. I wish we'd stayed here longer. Fireplaces decked out for Halloween. Separate shower/bathroom and kitchen areas. Massive, comfy beds and a little balcony overlooking the swimming pool and hot tub. Service was professional and you could park right outside your front door. It was a very short walk into Solvang town centre from the hotel and there's a windmill viewable from most rooms, which gets you in the mood for the place. Breakfast in the morning was basic but excellent, with a wide range of Danish pastries (not surprisingly), juices, cereal and coffee. We had a great time here and this hotel was the best of our trip.

The hotel was very nice and in close proximity to the areas we wanted to visit. We would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Hotel staff friendly, hotel clean, comfortable, excellent location. Nice fireplace, clean, comfortable beds. Delicious local danish, coffee, oj for breakfast. I plan on going back.

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at this inn. The outside is adorable--fits in well with the Danish village theme. Our room last time was spacious, but this time we brought our two children and it was like having a suite for the price of a double room! There was a kitchen table in a separate area with a microwave, a roomy bathroom with an exterior vanity and seat, a fireplace and flatscreen TV. The beds were clean and comfortable, too. And we had a sliding glass door that led to the pool. Continental breakfast in the cozy, lodge-like lobby included a fresh-baked Danish from one of the amazing local bakeries--and they'll heat it for you! A great place to stay for a terrific price! Also right near all the shops, bakeries, wine stories and restaurants in this cute Danish village.

Very pleasant staff and clean hotel rooms. The hotel is located in the centre of Solvang so all the bars, tasting rooms and restaurants are within a stone throw.

Positives: Nice basic room with not a lot of frills at a good rate. Quiet location in downtown with easy walk to everything. Room had refrig and microwave, but I do not know if others did. Concrete building was quiet all night. Negatives: Bkfst was danish and bagels only, cereal would have been nice, and did not open till 7am on a weekday--very late for me! No fitness center either.

The Room was well maintained and very spacious. Loved the Jacuzzi and pool. Hotel Staff was excellent. We have stayed in Solvang, CA in the past and found the room great for comfort and service. Can't wait to stay again.

the only reason I picked that place is location. It's overpriced Motel - and as good as any motels. I was upset that my reservation was not held - I reserved one room with king size bed and one room with two beds, I got two rooms with two beds.

It was a hotel room, nothing fancy, no smoking in any hotel in the area, so the room smelled fine. The room was clean, and was located on the east side of the motel by the parking lot. It was a perfect location to walk from when sightseeing all the Solvang delights, and the price was amazingly low for the area. I only had a problem with the title "America's #1 Hotel" or something similar, and it had a different name on the sigh, Okay, go to the last crossstreet eastbound through town. It's on the northeast corner. You'll find it!

Great access to Solvang and wine treking in Los Olivos nearby. Older furniture, but spacious room and VERY comfortable bed, makes the stay worthwhile. Front desk is courtious and efficient with pleasant breakfast service in the lobby. We'll be back.

After spending 3 days in Disneyland my boyfriend and I where in desperate need of a good nights sleep and a calm environment. This was definitely it! The beds were amazingly comfortable, everything was in walking distance (huge plus when you have been stuck in the car for 4 hours!) The staff was great at answering questions and very polite. My only complaint would be that the pool and hot tub closed at 9pm. We didn't get there until 8:30pm so by the time we ate dinner we couldn't use the hot tub. Otherwise it is a great!

We found the hotel staff helpful and friendly and the room was spotless.

Great location...right in the middle of Solvang so you can walk to anything around there. The pool area was really nice and clean. And the rooms were decent and clean as well. Only issues with the place is that the walls are SUPER thin. Luckily our side of the building was quiet...but when someone would enter their room right next door it sounded like they were coming into ours. My friends stayed on the other side and the people next to them were partying all night so they heard everything and weren't really able to get sleep. Also if you're looking for free breakfast this isnt the place. They just had danishes and bagels and the coffee wasnt really that good. But all in all the place is really good for the price. If u want thicker walls and better breakfast then you'll have to pay more somewhere else.

The hotel for the value was a terrific. Our stay was very pleasant. The rooms were clean...we especially liked the decor of the bathroom area with 2 (his & hers) separate sinks and a vanity. Our only disappointment was how difficult it was to enter and depart the the parking garage. "Beware of scratching the front of your car!"

Quaint hotel at the edge of the shopping district of Solvang. Pool and jacuzzi just outside our sliding glass door/patio, accessible through a gate. Although the building is old, it is very well kept up and even has two sinks, refrig and microwave. The scenery in the area is beautiful!! Horse ranches nearby and Santa Inez Mission a couple miles away. Enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is easy to find, easy to walk to downtown Solvang, has morning continental breakfast, and is makes you feel right at home. But in the best light, this hotel is "quaint". Don't fall for the pictures on the internet, you'll expect way too much. But if you look at it for the price paid, it's a good value.
