Hallmark Hotel Carlisle - קרלייל

located right next to Carlisle Station this was a great one night break for a 70th birthday. Room and bed were in good order. Our dinner was top class and breakfast was decent too. Handy both for city centre shopping and for the bus route AD122 which takes you along Hadrians Wall this has both location and service to commend it.

Reception staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Reception area including the bar is inviting and modern, though some areas of the hotel need updating! Breakfast was nice, albeit a bit cold when it got to our room...probably due to no plate covers. Our bathroom was dated and a bit creepy I thought. Not somewhere you'd want to take a relaxing soak. It did us fine for our purposes, but the old windows didn't close properly and despite the secondary glazing we could still hear noise from the pubs in the lane underneath and the late night revellers making their way to the taxi rank through it. It hasn't deterred me from booking it again, as decent hotels in Carlisle are few and far between, but I wouldn't rave about it..

The price was right and the location ideal for the city centre. Although lots of business people there I would stay for leisure as well.

Really nice hotel, had been given a fresh lick of paint so smelt all clean. It is right next to the station so worth asking for a quiet room...Only problem.. The bathroom is Tiny,, you could do over possible bathroom function whilst sitting on the loo!!!!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The BEST part of my stay was the dinners and breakfasts. I was amazed at the quality and creativity of the food, amazing. The only disappointing part of the stay was that the hotel mattress was not very good and the lift didn't seem to work very efficiently, but its ok as I was only on the second floor & took the stairs, and I think the hotel only has 3 floors anyways.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. Parking was easy. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent.

Room was very nice however little things like wine glasses that were dirty and had lipstick staines on them, hair on the bath tiles and the room had obviously had a water leak at some point in the past as there were marks all over the ceiling and wall. Breakfast was not very impressive either I did not like the buffet style help yourself, the food did not look appetising at all and this was very disppointing to us as we were looking forward to our full English breakfast. Staff were excellent throughout our stay and any prblems we had they sorted with efficiency.

The room was very comfortable and clean. It was a little noisy as the room faced a busy town square, but the service was good and the amenities were fine. The breakfast was good and the staff very pleasant.

Pros:Staff were nice, breakfast was good, location is super convenient. quiet in the hotel. Cons: Bit tired looking room and Car park is really tight. Overall, would stay again

Perfect location in centre of Carlisle. Parking was a problem. Cost us £6 for one overnight in railway car park. Rooms small but clean. Breakfast was rather tepid.

Room was small but clean apart from Damp patches on the ceiling. It was a Saturday night When we Stayed and extremely noisy outside which is not really the hotels fault .

Disappointed that what was on initial caption was not the place u stay- it gives false impression. The staff didn't explain about the parking but said cost 4 gbp in rail park as get discount- maybe but need to leave before 7 am for that- do be aware u could be up for extra 9 gbp.

The hotel is located right next to the train station and castle. The staff is great. and the room was comfortable, but not great.

Unbelievably close to Carlisle Train Station. The service of the hotel staff was just wonderful - having a lucky dip for a little something in the hotel was such a nice touch. We had a corner room where we had an amazing view of the city's Citadel & surrounding areas. The room was very comfortable - the shower however was a little tricky to work. Overall my partner & I thought it was just a great stay in one of the nicest little towns in the UK. Thanks Hallmark, we will see you again. Highly recommended!

Not that enjoyable to say the least. Very dated hotel next to train depot (no train noise problem) and center of town. At check in, they said I had no reservation. When I produced my printed confirmation, it took them about 20 minutes to search their records. Then they found that I had two different reservations--one double bed room and one twin bed room. I only booked one--don't know where they got two. Then they didn't have the room ready altho it was well into check in window. They didn't have hotel parking for me and I had to park in train parking lot (they would only reimburse me for about 25% of the cost), then I found that they did have a slot in the hotel lot and moved my car there. Took me over 30 minutes to get back to lobby, then my wife said they had given us an upgrade to an exec room due to reservation confusion. Room opened onto street on second floor. Pretty good room except that all street noise came through windows and there were drunks screaming in the st until 4 am. Food and service OK otherwise, but prices were a little high, so this was not a value deal overall for this rather dated hotel.

Hotel was located in the center of town, within a very short walk of the castle, cathedral, museum and pedestrian shopping mall. Room was very spacious as was the bathroom. Elevator was large enough to hold ourselves and luggage comfortably. Free wi-fi (although we had some problems with password). Restaurant was clean with excellent service and above average quality of food.

The hotel is fine, except the lift wasn't working but no matter; we used the stairs. Right next to Carlisle station which was great as we had an early train to catch. We stayed on a Saturday night and we heard quite a few smashed glasses, sirens and people shouting outside. Not the hotel's fault of course, but I can imagine this would be off-putting for a family.

It is a nice, VERY OLD hotel. Though the picture is a bit misleading (makes you think you are in a castle, you are actually across the street from the castle), it is still nice. There was no air-conditioning, and it was about 80 degrees outside. They provided a fan, which made it much better. The food in the restaurant was great. The staff was very friendly. Parking was a bit confusing, but was great as it was free. Overall, I would stay again.

The restaurant was very good.

When we first arrived at Hallmark Hotel with a reservation for a double room they gave us a room with a terrible smell of mould and moist inside. We complained but the hotel was fully booked because of easter so we either had to go somewhere else or sleep two in one of the bigger single rooms. As a compensation they offered us complementary dinner in the hotel restaurant. We chose to stay and enjoyed our stay eventhough the bed was a little narrow. The hotel restaurant is really nice and for breakfast you can order extras from the kitchen for free.

Very convenient for rail to Carlisle. Excellent staff throughout.

We had a fantastic stay here! Amazingly helpful, professional and friendly staff!!! The breakfast was FANTASTIC and they were kind enough to be filling the buffet at 10 minutes before breakfast was to be done. I thought this was really amazing, as most hotels just leave what's left and if it runs out- that's it. So, good service. The front desk gave us pointers on what to visit during our short stay in Carlisle (that was cheap) and we happened upon a delightful park on our way to Hadrian's wall. Britt park was filled with sound sculptures that you could play during your walk. The beds were adequate and the shower divider was weird, but it was nice to take a bath for a change.

Room was quiet but the decor was brown and dark. Bathroom had a crack in the sink, large stain in the bath. Telephone in the bedroom was filthy and there was a large strip of wood missing from the bedside table. On the plus side there was an ironing board and iron in the wardrobe. Breakfast was fine. The hotel is convenient as it is next to the railway station and close to the shopping area.

The hotel was great overall. Check in was great, friendly and efficient. Extremely good location if traveling to Carlisle by train. A comfortable and well appointed room but stuffy stuffy. A small window that barely opened and no AC.. My room was on the back of hotel so was noisy from a pub or club nearby till midnight. GREAT dinner, one of the best steaks I have had. Fair value for money overall ..... BUT ... I inquired the next morning about check out and was advised it was 11am (fair enough). I stated I was holding a business lunch for four in their very nice restaurant, meeting at 11.30am (then departing for London) so could I check out at 11.30am. I was told it would cost Stg10. I said for 30 mins and was advised it was for one hour. I said i only needed it for 30 minutes but was flatly refused. I felt like taking my business lunch to a nearby restaurant, they would have lost Stg70. I spend approx 160 nights a year in hotels, the small mindedness of this hotel means "would I go back .... NO WAY". Please pass it on to the hotel

Staff very good and breakfast good.Bed clean but not really comfy in our three rooms.

I've recently stayed at the Hallmark Hotel and it was lovely! Service, food and room couldn't be faulted. I'd stay there again

If you wanted something close to the railway then nothing could be better - but our room was worn and on a hot night the room was stuffy with no air and windows that did not open.

On a bank holiday Saturday this was the only thing I could get and wouldn't book again. Right next to station and in town so convenient but having spent 5 nights travelling around Scotland and North of England, staying in Premier Inns, there is no comparison in quality and comfort. A little tatty and definitely old fashioned. Good modern TV, but rest of furnishings had certainly seen better days. While nothing really bad, it really was poor value for money compared to other chains especially if you have to pay £8 to park overnight if hotel car park full (20 cars only) Fairly noisy as well but expected that being in town. If you park in station car park, don't panic if you can't get into the station to pay your car park ticket (closed at 7.00a.m. on Sunday morning). There is an emergency phone number on the ticket barrier info which gets a station attendant to open up for you.

Overall we were very pleased with this hotel - it is currently undergoing refurbishment floor by floor. We booked breakfast on check-in at a very reasonable rate and my kippers were delicious! We had a large room with new carpets, a 4 poster bed plus bath/shower and large flat screen TV. They offered a free tapas in the bar before 7.30pm if you bought a drink which was OK but the mussels were rather thin and stringy and the barman was rather surly - however he was the exception. We found the room rather stuffy so it could have done with some aircon.

This hotel was great value for money and was in a perfect location for me and my partner exploring some of the northern lakes. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome and like our custom was appreciated. We had mountain bikes with us and they allowed us space in the staff area to lock them at the end of a hard days cycling. The breakfast in the hotel was pretty similar to many other breakfast buffets, pretty basic but everything was hot and the staff seemed to be replacing the food regularly. We also dined in the hotel restaurant one evening, I had the pate to start, partner had the prawn cocktail then we both had the steak, which was cooked absolutely perfectly. Would definitely recommend. We also dined at the nearby Andalusian restaurant, which served Tapas. This was the best meal of our holiday, the staff were really welcoming and the Tapas was delicious and a different selection to what you find on 'normal' Tapas menus. The only issue I had with the hotel was the car parking at the rear of the hotel. The hotel is directly next to the train station and to access the hotel car park you need to drive straight through the rail car park and out the back. The hotel car park only has 26 spaces which is in no way enough for the size of the hotel. On two occasions the car park was full when we returned after a long day out and we had to park in the rail car park and pay for parking. The car park is also down quite a dark alley leading down the side of the hotel and other restaurants. On the day we arrived we walked down the alley to find a couple of men going through the bins. There is no way that I would walk down this alley on my own day or night. It's very dark and secluded. Overall though a very pleasant stay

Really a tail of 2 halfs. The public areas downstairs are all nicely done out, modern and clean etc. The service from the staff was excellent throughout my stay. The room however was a real letdown. Having seen the picture of the room on the net, I get the impression that only half the hotel rooms have been refurbished, as mine bore no resemblance at all. Very dated, in both decor and furnishings, half of the light bulbs didnt work, (although fixed within 1/2 of telling reception. It resembled something you would find in your Grans. The room overlooked an alleyway to the side, which in itself wasn't a problem, however this alleyway connected to the pubs and clubs round the corner, and when they leave their fire doors open all night, you can hear not just the beat, but also every track and word, till around 2am. If you stay here, make sure you ask to move rooms if you are allocated the same side. Pot luck I feelm whether you get a lovely new room, or a shabby old one.

The public areas were nicer than the room and we were given a room right at the back of the hotel overlooking a dirty alley, even though the hotel was certainly not full. The room was clean and warm but the bathroom heater had to be switched on by us and took a while to warm up and the shower did not work at all. We ordered room service: the chips were still a bit frozen although the steak sandwich was good.

the rooms are small but was given an upgrade but even then the bathrooms are very basic for for the price. car parking is limited. the staff are fantastic, very helpful and willing even when it was very busy. Overall it is just too expensive for the standard of room

We found the hotel to be a clean and comfortable place. The free parking arrangements were good. The hotel bar was stylish. We had a problem with our shower (the water was cold) but the lady at reception sorted us out and moved us into a different room. We had a pleasant experience staying there.

Walked out of the railway station and the first thing I saw was my hotel, so no problems finding it. Situated on a square overlooking the station car park, it's absolutely in the middle of town, handy for the shops, (perhaps maybe a little too) convenient for the nightlife and next to the communication links. Really nice comfortable modern room, friendly staff, convenient location. What more can I say, next time I go to Carlisle I won't be stopping anywhere else.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The location was both beautiful and convenient (just next to the train station) and the room was incredibly comfortable. In addition, the service was amazing. I arrived much later than expected and had to ring the "night bell" ... the proprietor and his wife answered immediately (although it was 1:30am), were INCREDIBLY kind, asked if I was hungry and made sure I was settled into my room. Truly a wonderful experience to arrive to.

I had a room facing the train station... my evenings were livened by the sounds of the station announcer, the station clock chimes and millions of lovely, yet noisy, seagulls. Hotel was clean, well presented and the staff were great. Rooms a tiny (opening the bathroom door greats an obsticle) and the walls are made out of paper. Other than that, the hotel is fine.

The hotel is well placed next to the train station, reception is well presented along with the restaurant and bar. As you would expect for the price the room is basic but meet requirements, the only two issues with this hotel and in particular the room we were given are that on a hot night there is no air flow nor a fan provided or air conditioning. In a changing climate they need to look at this, glad we were only staying one night as it would have been unbearable. Also even though it was a sunday night, the noise from people coming from the pubs and the fact that people were 'at it' on the steps of the hotel was a little off putting and again problematic for sleeping. Wouldn't have been a problem if they had air conditioning as you could then close the window....

I actually choose the hotel because it was convenient for me to get (drive) to all the lakes in the area and be in a city in the same time.

Ikkunan takana ilmastointikone, joka piti hirveää ääntä aamuyölle asti. Huone pieni,mutta siisti, kylpyhuone vanha ja kulahtanut. Hotellin käytävässä outoa hajua, jota oli yritetty peittää "hajusteilla". Ei neljän tähden veroinen.
