Quiet and enjoyed the hot tub very much and liked the longer hours for usuage of the hot tub. Would recommend it to a friend,

The sliding window frame was bowed and leaking cold air. the shower tub felt as though the bottom was going to break out. the ice on the sidewalks needs to be looked after more carefully, my wife fell on the ice and hit her head, not seriously (head ache is all), I mentioned it to front desk and they took care of the ice. I got what I wanted and expected out of this hotel. A few things forced me to drop the ranking. There were Mike & Ikes on the floor beneath the desk: this is inexcusable and it's why I give the hotel only 2 stars for cleanliness (it grossed me out thinking if they could miss two bright red jelly beans in plain view, what else did the cleaning staff neglect). It's in a newer industrial park/development zone with the strip mall-ish buildings a mile from downtown and two miles from MTU, so I had to knock points for location as well. But I would certainly return. Hopefully they'll return to the hygienic standards I expect from HIE upon reading about the Mike & Ikes and I wouldn't have to put up with it a second time.

A great place to stay with great people!

The only problem we had was that the room smelled very much like cigarette smoke, especially when you first walk into the room. For a non-smoking facility, we were a little disappointed in that.

Was suprised by how nice this hotel was. REALLY nice and I stay at about 30 hotels a year. Pool was COLD, but I am sure the temp changes frequently as hotels 'refresh' the water. Hot tub and sauna were superb. Pool and fitness center were quite warm and inviting...

This hotel is dated. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, the door to the bathroom didn't lock, the breakfast bar was scarce both mornings. Mentioned all of this to staff and nothing was done. They said they didn't serve some of the items on the breakfast bar on the days we were there. Overall, I was not very happy with this Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed in a number of them over the past 2 years and this is at the bottom of the list.

Decent place to stay with excellent, friendly staff. I'd definitely say there again if I go to Houghton.

I stayed at this location 2 years ago, and again this past week when I was back in the area. Here are the many things I enjoy about this property: --easy / convenient / pleasant checkin --breakfast is included, and features scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, sausage, toast, muffins, pastries, cereals, juices, oatmeal, fruit, and of course beverages. Really nice assortment of items to choose from --rooms are clean, beds are comfy --coffee available 24 hours a day --very accomodating staff (I asked for extra towels and got them right away) --location is convenient, just a short drive to downtown, a grocery store is across the street, and a full-service restaurant is within walking distance --staff is pleasant and happy to provide service No real negatives....hence why I chose to stay here when back in town.

Our hotel stay was excellent, Houghton proved to be an excellent launching point for exploration of the UP. For a very modest rate we were given a suite with a jacuzzi, which was great after a long day. The hotel was in excellent condition, the service was very helpful, we checked in, in under a minute, and the complementary breakfast was one of the better ones I've had.

this is a very nice hotel. The only problem was there were only 2 bath towels left every day by the cleaning person and we had a suite with 5 people. We had to keep asking for more towels. Also, the breakfast buffet seems to run out of hot food and fruit every 5 minutes. We had to wait 15 minutes one day for them to bring out more eggs.
