The Pickwick Hotel - סן פרנסיסקו

This hotel is kinda a hidden gem. It is very well-located next to the Westfield Mall and a short walk to Moscone Center area, as well as BART and Muni. It was well-priced overall, and much more affordable than what my peers paid at another hotel 1-1/2 blocks closer to Moscone. The bed was comfortable and there were a couple of different pillow types in the room to choose from. The bathroom was "efficient" but not really much of an issue. The staff were always very polite and helpful. I would definitely return here on a future trip, and have already recommended it to friends.

Rooms are not huge but comfy and they are clean and have great beds/bedding! Good sushi place next door and a short walk from the trolley! You can feel the taste history in this place!

We were there to see the Giants play a night game @ AT&T Park. We walked to and from the park (1.2 miles one way) and felt safe both ways, even after the game at 10 pm. The room was nice; the bed was very comfortable and the bed linens were wonderful. There is a restaurant conveniently located off the lobby and breakfast was delicious. We would return there again.

Hotel personal could not have been more helpful. Bar/Cafe was great. HOUSEKEEPING AND PORTERS WERE GREAT..

few minor issues but overall a good stay... the first was the parking garage across the street being hit with a backpack blower at about 2am, second was the need to run the shower for about 10 minutes to get the heat going. beyond that the bed was comfortable, good size tv, and free wifi strong enough to stream video. area is a little iffy but great walking distance to anything, did not get in a cab for the five days I was there. overall perfect for the price

This hotel shocked me a little. I've walked by many times thinking, "this place is a dump". I was pleasantly surprised by how big my room was, how clean it was, and how comfortable it was. It's very conveniently located. SF Center is right next door, Soma to the South and the Theatre district is just 3t o 4 blocks away. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's got some personality on the inside. The only drawback was that walls are peculiarly thin, and the last night i was there, a couple checked in to the right of me and a family to the left. Let's just say I heard crying babies to the left of me, and adult situations on the right... the girl certainly had stamina, about an hours worth. So if you want a convenient hotel and don't want to spend too much money, stay here. You're getting the same location if you were to go two blocks either direction and stay and one of the more pricer hotels. More "bang" for your buck, no pun intended.

Small room, the a/c (or something!) was noisy and woke me several times. The bathroom was small, and the hand basin low, tiny and hard to use as the shel above it was very wide. Hotel was clean and service good when we neededit.

There staff were all very professional and courteous on my check-in. The room I was given first was an un-renovated room which was looking over a roof and was very tired and in need of an update. It was however clean and the bed very comfortable. After my first night I was very kindly upgraded to a business class floor with a renovated room which was fantastic! Spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and a pleasure to stay in. The hotel is in a great location, close to the epicentre of retail and business activity and all the transport routes. I would stay at the Pickwick again but would ensure that I was booked in one of the updated rooms.

I enjoyed my one night stay.The hot water in the shower was warm rather than hot however overall I'd gladly recommend to family & friends.

Pickwick is very conveniently located in the heard of downtown San Fran by an expansive mall, lots of boutique eateries and a lovely outdoor park. I would highly recommend!

Stayed here for a software developer convention in Moscone Center, which it was super close to. Also surrounding is market street, union square, shopping, movie theaters and the bart. The condition of the hotel is what you would expect from a 3 star in San Francisco: Decent, but old and lacking plush. Definitely not romantic. And I wouldn't stay here if I was a girl. But for a week stay here did fine for me. I booked late so I cant comment on prices. Things that stood out: wifi internet is terrible (dont expect to use Skype calls for business), the sheets are very itchy, and don't count on warm water in the shower, its a hit or miss. Hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. And the bar down the lobby is great too for a nightcap. Personally its a good 3 star, but next time I stay in SF I think I'll need a 4 star.

All in all a very nice place to stay & would stay there again.

The first evening I arrived there was no hot water. Also the WIFI was generally slow.

It was a great little room, definitely an older building, but it was remodeled very nicely and didn't feel old at all. I enjoyed it.

Excellent location, old but good value. They need updates but overall a good experience.

Location of hotel was on the same block as the main shopping area of Westfield's, and a short walk from Union Square and China Town (other main shopping areas). The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Service staff were friendly and met expectations.

Close to union square and short travel to most tourist spots, not the best neighbourhood after dark. Good staff, decent hotel bar, no complaints overall, enjoyed my stay

Our hotel room was very cold. I lowered the thermostat, but that didn't seem to help warm up our room. Also, there were no curtains to draw to have privacy, just sheers! The homeless people sleeping on the top steps of the building across the street could look in!

Please clean around the bathroom - remove all previous guests' hairs.

This hotel is old but well-maintained. The bed is comfortable and room is clean. However, my room has very tiny bathroom.

Hotel is clean and comfortable but needs a bit of a face lift - cracked vanity etc. It was good value and the hotel was consistent with the price. It is a fair stretch of the imagination to call the Soma restaurant such - it is more like a diner but there are reasonable places within walking distance where the selection of food is wider and better

My room was absolutely filthy and poorly maintained. Bathroom was disgusting. Shower did not function properly. No A/C. Smelled moldy. Street noise. Paper-thin walls. This building should be gutted.

Great location for doing just about any tourist activities in San Fran.

Staff was very friendly, room was nice, a little dated but it's an older hotel and has nice character. We were very comfortable here and would stay again.

The room was very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. Went out of their way to get us a town car to go back to the airport instead of those crazy cab drivers.

We had one of the best times ever in the city. We were close to just about everything we wanted to do. The staff was friendly. The only negative comment we had was our shower flow. That wasn't to our liking but it wasn't so horrible that we couldn't shower. We are just a bit picky about that. I will definitely consider The Pickwick when we come back in July for a week.

Pickwick was reasonably priced, close to Moscone and Yerba Buena. The room was clean and pretty. Bathroom was messed up. You could only get blistering hot water from any of the spigots. And there was no shower head on the pipe in the shower. Never got fixed in a three day stay.

The hotel was conveniently located. The rooms are small but the beds are comfortable.

Recently stayed for two nights. Hotel is an old construction, but I found the room generally adequate and clean (there were a couple of spots on the sheet at the foot of the bed). Union Square does have an issue with having a lot of homeless around, but I didn't feel unsafe nor find it terribly burdensome. Only real drawback was the spottiness of the hotel's wireless internet.

I found the Pickwick only because the newer hotel I usually visit for work was booked. The Pickwick has mojo and warmth, unlike newer hotels (which all seem to be leaning toward a more sterile, 'chic' vibe). Surrounding area was fantastic (shopping/food/ambiance) and the staff very helpful and thorough. My room was a bit smaller than the newer hotels b/c it's an older hotel - however, it was very clean, well designed, had cool wood features a nice TV, and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. Only drawback is their wifi. Free is a great price, however it's pretty slow at best. I will absolutely be back!

Really close to the Moscone Center, also close to parking garage and mall and some good burger joints. We had a nice view of some permanent bums though across the street, and the hotel itself had an older feel that needed a little bit of repair. One of our drawers was broken, the bathroom door didn't actually stay shut unless locked, no counter space. Horrible Wifi and no wired internet. No cold water, the cold actually got hotter and hotter!

Room needed painting and updating, uncomfortable desk cramped between wall and bed. I noticed that I was charged for water bottles that I did not drink. I complained and they removed the charge..

One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. Rooms were filthy so they switched me to a different room where the shower head didn't work. When I went to complain to the manager, she was not at all apologetic and offered to cancel my reservation - left as quickly as I could.

Really enjoyed staying at the Pickwick just a two blocks from the convention center. Everything was close by including the cable car to Chinatown. The resturaunt was great for breakfast every morning and they made sure we had a ride back to the airport in comfort.
