Rembrandt Classic Hotel - אמסטרדם

I can confidently say this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything in the hotel was old and run down. The 3.5 stars it received on hotels.com is not representative of the hotel. DO.NOT.STAY.HERE.

After refusing the first room that had dust boards (instead of base boards), we were promptly offered a new room that was 100% better. Overall the hotel needs updating. The bed seemed very old and the lighting was so dark that it made me nervous. This hotel needs some TLC. It's in such a great location and has so much potential.

Arrival on a Sunday was awful - slow and uninterested reception with lots of people struggling to get attention. The rooms were a good size and clean but a little cold and shabby. The hotel was filled with school children and teachers who were noisy at night. Breakfast was OK and more or less worth the price. All in all not a bad experience but I suspect we could have found better. We will not return to this hotel.

the hotel is old and a little run down BUT, the location is great, the place is as clean as it is possible and the staff, GREAT! they go the extra mile so you don't have to face any troubles or time lost. just ask... the internet is slow...but one week passes are available for for a small fee.

The hotel is well positioned with a 10 min walk to dam square and the staff were amazing and friendly however no kettle in the room! Couldnt make our own teas etc. Also some fool in a room next to us kept slamming his door from 10pm to 2am. I think the weed had dampened his hearing. We may have just been unlucky to be near this guy im sure. Amazing price though. Would recommend im sure the noise was a one off.

Room was a little run down, but still overall a good deal for the price. We had to use the pull-out sofa bed and bedding on it was ripped and old. However, location is great, situated between 2 canals and a short 5-10 minute walk from Dam Square, Anne Frank House, paddle boats, and great shopping area. The staff were also very pleasant.

Location excellent - right in the Dam centre - we also had a beatiful canal view on the 1st floor. Rooms a little tired but very clean, good for the money. The hotel staff were polite and the place has a lovely feel. I would happily stay here again as you are a stones throw from the Royal Palace and belongings etc felt safe. Only suggestion; add a kettle to the room even if £5 more a night.

I was very angry. I booked a room for 2 nights so I would have a place to stay upon my arrival early Sunday, Feb. 3, but was told I was a "no show" so they sold my room to someone else. Since I pre-paid through your site I consider this to be completely unfair as I was charged for services never received. I had to wait until 4pm to get my room assigned. They said I 'should have called' but that's impossible while in transit from the United States.

We stayed for three nights in the hotel and found it very enjoyable. Very clean and the staff were really helpful. The room cleaning service was convenient around when we left our room. We had a room with a canal view which was lovely. We walked everywhere from the room as it is nicely situated. The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions we had.

Across the street from the Rogier metro stop, two blocks from the North train station and two blocks from the pedestrian street that leads to the Grand Place - we couldn't ask for a better location. The room was fairly plain but clean. Not the most convenient shower arrangement, but in Europe you make do. Staff was very nice and helpful.

great location, great people, and room service. but the internet was just awful. then again, it was difficult to find wireless access in Amsterdam, but the hotel is a good place to stay.

Excellent value for money, and a great location, close to Ann Frank's house, and a short walk to Amsterdam Centraal. Excellent service from reception.

There's only one thing to say - if you like hearing the sound of slamming doors, stay here. The doors are sprung so heavy, that you will hear doors shutting from down the hall, all night. The staff are aware of this problem - there is nothing they can do about it. Pity, because it's reasonably priced, and a good location. I've stayed at around 100 hotels this year, and this was by far , my number one pick for "never returning". I checked out in the dark at 7am, just to move to another hotel. The morning staff didn't care a bit, they had my money.

The reception staff are one of the best that I have ever known. I had unfortunately left medication in Cologne and they absolutely bent over backwards to help me. It all got sorted and if it wasn't for Taris my European 50 th Birhday would have been disastrous. I am forever grateful. But so noisy,every time someone shut their door it felt as though the foundations shook. Cleaning staff very noisy and rooms we not clean. Shame as I found it a great spot with a fabulous view and Amsterdam is just such an amazing and interesting place.

We liked very much because of the location of the hotel and its simplicity well linked to its efficiency.. The only thing I believe that could be better is the improvement of the wireless internet signal for the rooms further from the reception desk because we coudn´t connect in our room. we had to go near the desk everytime.

The hotel and room are fine as long as one doesn't need any frills. I was mostly there to sight-see so I wasn't bothered by the lack of amenities. But my pal hated the hotel : no mini-bar, VERY spotty wifi in the room, noisy from other guests (that was on a busy Sunday when many people were checking in and out), and the smell of pot in the halls.

overall the hotel was decent and clean it was pretty centralizes but after traveling to a few different cities in europe during the same trip we felt that this hotel was over price. we expected to be above average. for the same price we wouldnt stay there again.

This is a great location, in the 9 streets area, just two minutes from the Dam.we did not try the breakfasts as we slept a lot, but it looked tasty and plentiful. Great location for shopping and walking to anywhere in the city center in minutes, clean, hospitable, my only comment is in our particular room the tv was positioned so you had to duck round it to get to one side of the bed which was awkward, but not exactly a big deal.

We stayed here for 1 night on our way back home. After seeing the reviews online and looking at the pictures from the hotel's website, I thought it was going to be a nice hotel. But for the money we paid I was sadly disappointed. The room was clean and what we needed but the hotel was not well maintained. The hallways looked like a frat house, and the carpets were old, etc. It was a good place to stay for 1 night; however, it was extremely overpriced for the quality. One nice thing is that both of our windows opened wide, allowing a nice breeze at night.

Rooms are SMALL and uncomfortable. But the location is great. Expect no real conveniences here. However, the staff is exceptional and things are well kept.

Pretty disappointed with this hotel. Very hot, no fan. Very old building and not well maintained. No WIFI in the room. Not quite what we expected and wouldn't stay here again. Location was handy to most attractions.

No frills, kinda stuffy. Not outwardly dirty, but not especially clean either. If you need a place to stay for a short time, it'll do the trick and it's not far from interesting parts of the city.

The Rembrandt is a nice hotel and has a great location. You can walk to all the highlights in Amsterdam from this hotel. The only drawbacks are you have to pay for breakfast and the Wi-Fi service. Most of the front desk people speak English and are helpful. Be mindful what room they give you when you check in. Our room was close to the housekeeping storage area and it got pretty loud early in the morning.

This place is in a great location for walking anywhere in town. It is right on the canal. Having said that, if you value blood-free shower curtains, stain-free carpet that doesn't smell like socks, or fixtures that are mostly unbroken, this place might not be for you. If you are in Amsterdam for debauchery, this place will fit in with your motif.

I really enjoyed how close the hotel was to everything in the city. We walked everywhere. Rembrandt Square is close, which has Starbucks, a variety of restaurants, night clubs, bars. It is a lovely area. It's about a 5 minute ride from Central Station.

Fair price, a little worn down, but very god location! Had a blast, comfortable beds!

The hotel is close to the centre of the city. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. The room might be a little compact for some tastes. Good breakfast.This is an ideal base for exploring Amsterdam at a reasonable price.

Found quite a few unknown room services items in the bill together with city tax when we checked out. When we asked for more details on what kinds of room services, the receptionist just replied 'I don't know'. After we asked for three times, she told us she needed to go to the restaurant and asked her colleague to check. Finally, these unknown items have been cancelled out. But it took half an hour to sort this problem out...

We had a great time in Amsterdam. The hotel rooms were small but the service was very good. The breakfast was not the best.

Room was comfertable, clean and had enough space. Beds were comfertable too. No noise.

Right in the middle of the centre of Amsterdam. Nice location. Small but clean rooms. A bit noisy from other guests in the hallways, slamming of doors. Didn't like that breakfast was not included. Breakfast service was good. They do offer service to store your luggage in a safe place. There are 2 computers that you can use for a fee.

Ok, ended up with a family room not a double as booked. Shower head was broken, I had to do a temporary fix. No parking facilities nearby. Great location, ok for a low price, but don't pay too much.

There is very little to recommend this hotel, other than its being in Amsterdam. I thought a great deal of money for modest accommodation.

Many thanks to Van, Erik and Jillian and the rest of the staff for making our stay so very nice. Everyone was so very helpful. A great location for seeing everything, close walking distance to attractions. Thank you again

Hotel well situated close to the city center but rooms look old fashion. Staff not really nice and not helpfull. Bad first impression on arrival day.
