Friendly staff got a room ready for us despite a very early arrival. The classic decor and comfortable and spacious room were a nice intro to Iceland, and the location was perfect for walking around the downtown city center and harbor area at all hours. Would definitely stay there again.

I don't plan on returning to the Hotel Borg. While the room and location were fine, the walls and floors are paper thin - I heard every move the people upstairs made and the racket from the people in the hallway. What's worse is there was some mixup about my checkout time - so the hotel believed I was checking out a day earlier than I really was. Instead of calling my room in the evening of that day (which I was in following dinner), the night manager took keys and came in my room at 2 AM! Imagine my surprise..making the situation worse, I had to be up to catch a 430 am shuttle to the airport, making it impossible to get any meaningful sleep. While the night manager apologized, it showed an amazing lack of common sense and courtesy to decide at that hour to check on the status of the room. The hotel even called the police to report a potential issue with a person who did not check out of the room - all before talking to me and realizing the simple mistake. I expect this "customer service" in the third world - not in Reykjavik. Taking my business elsewhere from now on.

A lovely place with great staff. Not a noisy place at all. The only thing we could improve is more storeage in the rooms. There is only a tiny wardrobe and a big room like this could take a chest of draws. Highly recommended though.

We were refused to have any sort of guest past 11:30, which is absurd on the weekends. They said it was policy and that it was in the information sent to us. It wasn't anywhere in any information. Considering disputing the charge because we had to make expensive plans on the fly.

Otherwise its alright.

The staff at Hotel Borg were fantastic. Everything we asked was given a quick response of "no problem." The hotel itself is in a great location near the parliament and several bars and restaurants. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Only minor complaint would be that the breakfast buffet was a little skimpy, but that was compared to the great breakfast at the Hotel Ranga on the south coast of Iceland.

The hotel is very nice and the location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik. The only issue is that it can be a bit noisy at night if you face the main square because there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby that are open very late.

If you found a similarly located top quality hotel in any other major city in Europe, you would pay a lot more - and not get a fantastic art deco hotel. The restaurant is excellent as well.

The beds are super comfortable.

Great hotel and would recommend staying here. Iceland itself is an excellent holiday destination. Reykjavik is a very funky city filled with hip locals, great restaurants and an excellent night life.

The quadruple double glazed windows work as keeping the sounds of the night revellors out of the room. We were very pleased with the excellent location, allowing site seeing on foot with the limited we had. I liked the style of the redecoration it was tasteful but not loud. The access lift is not too good. It is tucked in a corner between the kitchen and the cafe/bar so rather pungent at times. Room very clean and the meal we had in the restaurant was good

This historic hotel is centrally located not only physically but also spiritually at the heart of Reykjavik. The last night of our stay, Icelandic presidential candidate Ari Trausti Gudmundsson and his retinue were celebrating promising poll results at midnight (prematurely, as it turned out). The building shares the square with the Icelandic Parliament and a number of fine downtown drinking establishments, and it's no more than a 5 to 10 minute walk to most of the major sites and activities of interest to visitors.

This beautiful renovated art deco hotel is in the center of the city, walking distance to everything fun.

The hotel was great. To our surprise, we were upgraded to a suite. Our bathroom had heated floors with a rain shower. The bathtub wasn't draining properly but was improved (not 100% fixed) on the second day which was sufficient. Our room had Bang & Olufsen electronics throughout which was very impressive. I will say that the stereo had to have cost several thousand dollars but did not have a place to dock an iPod. I don't know if all of these features are in all room but we did have them in our suite. Lastly, the hotel is near a few bars so there is a noise factor but not enough to keep us away if we're in town again. Overall, a great stay and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Iceland is unique. Extremely clean. No air pollution.No water polution. But lauguage is very difficult. Usually I can guess at times what a foreign word means. Could not do it in Iceland. Fortunately most people speak english as a second language . I would highly recommend Iceland mainly in the shoulder season as high season results in Reykjavik being fully booked.

I was excited to stay at the Borg, as I have a love of art deco and historical inns. The hotel has retained much of its original charm, and my room was very comfortable. However, the finishes were quite tired, for example chips in the paint and worn tiles in the bathroom, ratty edges on the towels. The hotel staff were competent, but stiff, although I was quite happy to be able to check in early, and stash my skis in a stoage room. I liked that there were artifacts on display from the hotel's past and from the original owner. The location of the hotel is fantastic, near to downtown Reykjavik and the waterfront, and overlooking a park. Breakfast was an option, although it was rather steep. My biggest beef with Borg was that I felt as though my room was in the maid's quarters. It was in a group of four rooms that was seperate from the other guest rooms, and could only be accessed by a service elevator. Overall, Hotel Borg was fine. It just needs a little more polish around the edges to restore it to its glory.

The Hotel Borg is conveniently located in the city center close to restaurants & shopping.

Asked for an extra bed and the hotel gave us two rooms without extra charge. Breakfast was included in price and that was a treat. They even made us lunchboxes to go for our daytrip on a monster truck - even without any extra charge! Especially helpful was the night receptionist who arranged for most of our extras and bookings. Yes, if you are planning for a quiet and harmonious travel to Reykjavik remember that this hotel is directly in centrum with the noise that typically comes with this (and rather book something not directly in centrum). However, I was not bothered by this as the perques from stying downtown typically outweigth the noise.

We had beautiful large rooms overlooking a small square/park. We were within walking distance of the main shopping street and also a beautiful small lake. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We stopped in Iceland for just a few days to explore and rest a bit on the way to Sweden for the holidays. The location was the best we could have had. Lot's of amazing restaurants within walking distance and a very convenient one literally next door. The main shopping area is less than 5 minutes away on foot. Harpa is also really close and it was very convenient and safe neighborhood over all. The staff was very accommodating and checked us in many ours before we were supposed to as our flight arrived very early in the AM. They actually upgraded us to a better room. They also helped with many other details such as renting a car so we could got to the Blue Lagoon and booking some other tourist trips. Anyway, in general it was really great and I would definitely recommend it.

My sister and I really enjoyed Hotel Borg for its convenience, style, comfort and - most of all - service! They are very friendly and willing to help book tours, etc. There is a restaurant in the hotel, with room service available, as well. Much of the overall enjoyment of our trip to Iceland can be credited to how much we liked staying at Hotel Borg!

The location of Hotel Borg is perfect as it is within walking distance to many bars, restaurants and shops. Very safe neighborhood. Hotel is clean and staff was extremely courteous and helpful to its guests. Highly recommended!

excellent location, service, restaurant and staff!!!

The Hotel Borg is located on a main square right near the Parliament Building in downtown Reykjavik. The staff is very warm, friendly and helpful - concierge Thora sent me a great deal of information prior to our arrival and encouraged us to reserve a table at the Seafood Cellar for our first night - one of the best meals we have ever had! On a sunny Sunday, the square is filled with people sitting at the sidewalk cafes and on the grass. Many good restaurants in walking distance. Definately recommended.

Loved Hotel Borg. It was extremely clean and nicely furnished, staff was wonderful and helpful, location excellent. Definitely recommend.

Very nice Art-Deco themed hotel. Clean and neat with a great central location. Staff friendly. However, very difficult to park nearby because the street in front of hotel is closed most of the day. Also, we scheduled a double deluxe room and checked in Sunday morning around 2 AM. But the concierge put us in a double room. We realized this mistake the following Wednesday morning. They never realized this and when we explained our displeasure to concierge, they did apologize. However, they initially refused to reimburse us the difference (around $450 for five nights)! They suggested a complimentary dinner in their restaurant (Silfur) instead! We refused and they eventually credited us the difference; but I think they should have apologized either more sincerely or better compensated us. We just wish the country wasn't so exorbitantly expensive.

The noise outside our room in the park kept us awake most of the night. People were screaming and carrying on until 4:30 A.M.

Perfect location smack right in the heart of Reykjavik. Great food and shopping (101 Dsitrict) are within walking distance. The hotel listened to our request and gave us what we wanted even though we didn't reserve the room through their website. Unlike some hotels in the States, they treated the Hotels.com guests like first class and put you in the room that you actually requested.

We are recently retired couple - Hotel Borg was excellent. The art deco interior is impeccably maintained. The staff were friendly and truly helpful, giving good advice and assistance. The location, 3 blocks from the sea, is at the heart of the old downtown; handy to much you will want to visit.

The hotel itself was lovely. We were upgraded to a deluxe room upon check-in, which was a nice touch. The room was spacious, clean and well decorated. The location is very central, however, if you sleep with the windows open, you will hear noise from the late-night revellers as there are lots of bars and restaurants around. Whilst we didn't dine in the hotel, there are plenty to choose from in terms of dining options and bars in the area and within walking distance. We had a rental car and although the hotel has no parking, there are plenty of paid street parking available all over Reykjavik.

I recently visited Reykjavik on personal vacation and selected Hotel Borg based on location, price and other reader reviews. I was very pleased with the overall hotel offerings and especially appreciated the friendly and helpful demeanor of the front desk staff. Everything I wanted to visit was within walking distance or accessible through pickup by the various tour companies. My hotel room was smaller in nature (similar to most European singles), but the amenities were fine, the bed was comfortable and the free WiFi worked at all times. My only minor complaint is that the breakfast price (not included with the room rate) is too high for my preferences, so just be aware before going in and then being surprised later. As a female traveling alone on this trip, I did a lot of research in advance to ensure I was selecting a hotel where I would feel safe and comfortable while on my vacation. I would definitely stay at this hotel again on a future trip to Reykjavik.

Hotel is Lovely! However, I would never stay there on a weekend. It was so loud I couldn't sleep, the bars are open until 5:00am and the music was so loud. We stayed Friday through Monday, Sunday night was quiet. The location was perfect. Breaksfast was extremely expensive, we found a 24 hr store around the corner that had fresh pastries and coffee.

The Hotel Borg is located in the Old City Center in Reykjavik and everything, absolutely everything, from the employees at the Front Desk to the room accomodations (clean, inviting, comfortable, etc etc) was First Class all the way. I plan on returning to Iceland again and I also plan on staying at the Hotel Borg again.

I was travelling with my daughter and the Borgwas perfect for us. Our room was large and clean and the hotel itself was very well located. We did not eat beakfast at the hotel as we don't usually eat large breakfasts. There are lots of places near by to get a light, inexpensive breakfast. Our room faced the park and on the weekend the park was noisey all night.

Do not stay at this hotel. There is a dance club downstairs that you can hear clearly through the walls. It is impossible to sleep because the noise is so loud. There is NO concierge as advertised, there is someone who gives you the keys to your room and directs you to a computer. The breakfast is very basic and they direct you toward it without including that they´re going to charge you for it and the price is about 35 USD for two people for basically fruit, yogurt and toast. The night 'concierge' is grumpy and unhelpful and even before the club gets going, there are two cocktail hours going on on either side of hte hotel which are also noisy. Whenever you ask a question to the ´concierge´, they act like it´s not under their jurisdiction. We splurged on this hotel to help orient ourselves to the area. I would downgrade it to three stars, give it terrible marks for false advertising on the travel help thing, and worse marks for travel trickery (breakfast), and never stay here because of the unbelievable noise. Do not stay here!

Hotel Borg er et bra hotell som ligger midt i Reykjavik. Standarden er høy, men frokostbuffeten er helt grei. Gratis WiFi i hele hotellet er et pluss...et minus er at det ikke er noe treningsrom. Vennlig og hjelpsomt personell.

市内中心部にあり、とても便利な場所です。ホテル従業員のマナーや接客も良く、全体的には合格点以上です。但し、とても残念なのが、同じ建物の１Fにライブハウスがあり、週末は深夜４時までガンガンライブをやっています。僕の部屋は２Fで直接的に音と振動が伝わって来て寝ることが出来ませんでした。部屋のチェンジを頼みましたが、満室で出来ず、また、ホテルの案内では最初は浴室付きと書いて有りましたが、現実にはSGLはオールシャワーでした。それが残念です。
