Empire Hotel - ניו יורק

Paid for an "upgraded room" and low and behold the room was on the 3rd floor and I looked out to the roof of the lobby area. Even better, I saw three large HVAC units out my window and got to listen to them running all night long and did not have a complete night sleep. Probably was woken up 5-6 times by the noise.

Great location, friendly staff, nice lobby , room is small , but comfortable . Shower did not have a door ( design idea or missing/broke???) , water was splashing everywhere...Convenient location , next to Subway station, across the Lincoln Centre , steps away from Colombus Circle Shopping Center.

Excellent! We were greeted at the front cordially, we were told of the perks, the room is lovely, roomy, clean, comfortable, and quiet. When we asked fora little refrigerator it was delivered within a half hour. The location is the best!

Pros: Great location, fun roof top bar and pool. Cons: small room, which was to be expected. Weird bathroom with shower that I could not figure out. Overall we were happy with our choice, and the price was right.

Great hotel, comfortable rest, but the room is super small, and they didn't clean it the first night.

At first we thought the room small, but turned out to be perfectly adequate as we weren't in the hotel that much, but out and about. Bed was very comfortable and robes supplied - nice touch. Problem with the sink blocked on arrival, but fixed straight away. Staff and concierge more than helpful throughout.

The location is perfect - next door to Starbucks and just around the corner from Columbus Circle.

Too many annoying details to give a better review. 1- Air conditioning made deafening noise. 2- Maid took bath mat and wash cloths, but didn't replace them; request to have them replaced resulted in new bath mat, but no wash cloths. 3- Bathroom had no counter and no hooks, just narrow and high shelves to place articles. 4- Intermittent odor of cigarette smoke in room (and we don't smoke). 5- Waited in line to go up to rooftop bar; not told that most of bar taken up with private party; no response when I mentioned that hotel guests should have been told beforehand.

Nice funky little hotel in a GREAT spot right across the street from Lincoln Center. The room was small but lovely and had a retro feel to it that was fun. Definitely will stay there again. Also, the bar/lounge on the first level was a nice spot for an after-theatre drink.

If you have an early flight into NY you'll have to wait a very very long time before they give you a room.

We loved our stay at the Empire. The location is simply the best in NYC for the price. The staff was courteous, friendly, and the service was exceptional. We dealt with the check in staff, concierge, doormen, and facilities (to request more towels) and everyone was fantastic. The room was small, but this is to be expected in Manhattan! Our only gripe is that there is no door on the shower, so taking a shower made the entire (small) bathroom a bit of a wet mess. Otherwise, we loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

Nice hotel, however the rooms and bath area were very small.

They should have mentioned when I checked in that the room w/ a view would also result in extreme construction noise from the street. The construction noise (jackhammers, etc.) started in the early AM & woke me up. I never would have stayed in the room if I had known that.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and enjoyed our stay. This time, a different story. We were shown our room, a regular queen size bed. Only two feet of space on three sides of the bed. Too small for a four night stay. We paid additional money per night extra for an upgraded king bed room. The young lady that checked us in was able to reduce the upgrade cost by fifty percent. Ice was from room service only. Housekeeping either did not leave soap or toilet paper or not enough towels. We do not plan on staying at the Empire again.

Just what we were looking for: excellent location near Central Park (we ran NYC Half Marathon which started 2 blocks away in the park), Lincoln Center, 2 subway stops nearby, a Starbucks and a 24 hr. convenience shop next door. Empire is a smaller hotel (elevators easy to get), friendly reception staff; the rooms could use a little sprucing up (paint, carpets) but decor is sleek, modern. Would have preferred free Wifi in rooms (it is free in lobby) and extra towels already in room.

Hotel was clean. The space is very tight. Decent price and good location to public transportation or taxis.

Convenient for the Opera, but overpriced for what they offered. After checking in and running some errands, we were trying to bathe before meeting friends. Room had only a shower with the head mounted in the ceiling, we couldn't get the control to switch to the hand held. Waited 45 minutes, after 3 calls for someone to come. Bath had steel beam supporting the building running through the middle of it. And clear glass between the shower and toilet. Not my idea of class.

Very pleasant after first night, which was in a room on the first floor that was totally unacceptable, VERY small, no place to set open suitcase, inadequate lighting and other shortcomings, such as slow drain in bathroom sink, the window facing an small interior light shaft with a view of rusting machinery and other decaying unidentifiable objects. Definitely not what is posted on the web site as being the standard for this hotel. The room on the second floor that they transferred me to the next day was comfortable, well-lighted, with a street view and all the amenities missing from the first one. Service was excellent. Concierge outstanding, one of the best ever. Restaurant (Chowder House) and room service both excellent. After the first night's experience, this was a welcome surprise. I will return on my next trip, if reservations are available.

It was so convenient to go to several shows at Lincoln Center. Also close to Columbus Circle, Central Park, and the Upper west side. Hotel staff are very helpful. Good restaurants close by. All in all a great place to stay.

The hotel is in a great area...shopping, dining, theater, transportation. While the hotel is upgrading the rooms....mine was very dated and needed a face-lift The common area, lobby, lounge, etc. of the hotel are very comfortable.

Room was really hot throughout the night had trouble controlling temperature

You keep the rooms way too hot & dry. Its uncomfortable, unhealthy & a waste of energy

Very clean room, good and friendly service, but noise level in room after 11pm close to intolerable - nightclub dancing right over our heads!

The staff was WONDERFUL!

The staff at the hotel was pleasant. The room was very small. I don't believe I would stay there again. We had a difficult time finding floor space to open our suitcase. The bathroom was too small to get into. If we were large, we would not be able to shut the door.

Excellent hotel but the front desk needs was understaffed.

The hotel staff was very nice and the location was perfect. It is easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and entertainment. However, there were some things that were a problem for me. The cleaning of the room was inconsistent-- two hand towels one day, only one another day, no wash cloths the first two days, no bathmat for the floor on at all. The rain showerhead is a fixed showerhead in the ceiling that cannot be adjusted and that does not provide good water flow.

Great location and value!

We were in NYC for a Juilliard audition so the location was perfect. Unfortunately the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and the room was very hot. It was hard to dress for cold winter days without getting overheated. Housekeeping was inconsistent. We had to call and ask for washcloths one day, and a floor mat another day. They were delivered promptly but should have been placed by housekeeping. I would not stay here at the regular price, but would stay again at a discount due to location.

"Fitness Center' is a joke - 1 bike, 1 treadmill and another machine. Empty water dispenser, no towels. Want a wake up call? You will have to go downstairs to front desk - the phone rings and rings and rings 'sorry, we were busy" Need maintenance service for your TV - when they finally answered the phone - said, guy would be 'right up'.. that means 2 hours!

Great location, clean, small attractive room. Staff friendly & extremely helpful. Bathroom small, fixtures tough to use.

Rooms are small but comfortable. Great view and very clean. Perfect location- right on the 123 line.

Our room lacked a trash can and wash cloths along with soap. When call house cleaning they brought us only soap with a large trash bag.
