The Hotel Monaco is a fun and colorful hotel. The lobby is inviting and has multiple seating areas for private conversation. The wine reception was lively. The room was nice appointed and comfortable. I would definitely stay again and recommend to other travelers.

Pretty good rooms, but $450/night in the base room seems a little outlandish to me. I don't think I received my moneys worth.

The Hotel Monaco is beautifully appointed, from the rooms to the garage. The room was very large and comfy. It's location is perfect for walking to great restaurants and shops. Their complimentary late afternoon wine and beer in the beautiful lobby with the piano player is a nice way to end the day.

this is not the first time we've stayed - but a different room. i highly recommend the king corner room or the king suite if you're bringing pooch with you. the staff at this hotel are great.

Spend a couple days at the Monaco and really liked the hotel. The staff was great, and the room was cool, stylish and very comfortable.

Was here with two friends for three nights and had a very nice stay - room was comfortable as Monaco's usually are and staff helpful. Pets are welcome and they even gave us a goldfish for our stay. It was centrally located so a great place to stay to explore downtown Portland.

Welcoming staff at check-in, helpful concierge. Even the doorman was very friendly. Everyone tried to make our stay pleasant. The location was ideal and enabled us to explore by foot. Would certainly stay at the Hotel Monaco again. Very impressed with this 'boutique hotel'.

The customer service folks, front desk are always super at the Monaco. The Monaco has a super inviting lobby for those rainy and cold Portland days and evenings.

The hotel was just okay as was the service. Only saw the concierge once which stunk cuz we had questions. The rest of the staff seemed indifferent to offering suggestions, etc. Our bedspread was covered in hair when we checked in but at least they cleaned it up quick. Bathroom had no fan which was annoying.

The Hotel Monaco was great. Easy to get to all the parts of the city we wanted to, especially because they have bikes to borrow. Our only complaint is that the pillows are kind of a strange shape, squares instead of rectangles, a little odd and not overly comfortable. Seems a picky thing to say, but overall this hotel was great.

My wife and I wanted to go somewhere relaxing and different and we joke that we came to Portland after seeing a documentary called "Portlandia." We enjoyed the town -- the Japanese garden on our one non-rainy day, the many restaurants, riding the public transit -- and the Monaco complemented it all. The location is great, the staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly and the hotel is a nicely restored old building decorated with grandeur as well as some humorous over-the-top elements. Nice morning coffee in lobby too.

This hotel has personality and pet friendly charm. We loved it!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Loved the social wine hour. Service was outstanding! Hotel was super clean and pet friendly! Step out the door and you are right in the middle of downtown Portland.

The location was great, close to everything we wanted to see. The decor of the room was wonderfully fun. It was a little small, but comfortable enough for a short stay. The wine reception was fun and there was even a hotel dog there to greet out of town four-legged friends.

It was extremely Loud! We were awoken at 5:40 am with buses beside our room on the 2nd floor. :(

Overall it was OK but well overpriced if you ask me.

A year ago my family and I stayed at this same hotel and we were impressed with the customer service. We were sure we would be back. We raved about the Kimpton. This time around the service was not at the same level and we were disappointed because this time we invited others to come to Portland and convinced them to stay here for the "service". We enjoyed the wine hour, the decor, the lobby like the last time but without the exceptional level of service it was not the same. This time we were not always greeted with smiles. Sometimes no eye contact. We were asked by valet to call ahead 15 mins to let them know when we could bring down our luggage to load. When we called, however, we could hear the guy give out a sigh of frustration over the phone. To sum it all, the stay was pretty typical of a hotel stay in a comfy hotel in a great location. Our friends said it was "nice" but they didn't understand why we raved about it from our stay last year. I would rate this last stay 3 stars out of 5.

Will stay again. They needed more selection for their vinyl records an the 8-track selection wasn't bad either. The wine social in the lobby was pretty unique and the southwest area was pretty cool. Had an issue with the smoke alarm going off whenever you take a shower,we just thought it was one of those Portland things we wouldn't understand so we just danced to it till it went off. Overall it was a good trip with great places to eat.

We completely enjoyed the hotel and staff! Cute room, interesting location, and the staff helped us though the airlines losing our luggage for 24 hours.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful, with the exception of the doorman. I recommend tipping him every time you enter or exit or he won't see you coming with your hands full of items.

Great location. Red star restaurant was good, especially happy hour. Loved the wine/beer tasting hour and the voodoo donuts in the morning. Great room although being on the 2nd floor meant sometimes navigating around attendees for the function rooms. Underground parking was pricey but convenient. I'd stay here again.

awesome as always. Always such friendly staff. Valet staff is always helpful, friendly, funny and prompt.

Super clean rooms and lots of love for the Great Dane. These guys really shine in service.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay. In particular, the staff was quite friendly and most helpful. The free daily newspaper and the afternoon wine receptions were a splendid touch.

The Monaco exceeded my expectations. I really enjoyed visiting with people at the evening wine tasting. I had a package delivered to the hotel from Los Angeles and there was no service charge!

In one word, Hotel and Staff were "STELLAR". We'll be back for sure

I rarely have such a great all-around hotel experience, but my stay at Hotel Monaco was amazing. The hotel was very comfortable, with a unique and colorful style. The staff was friendly and helpful - we even discovered that we could take out the hotel's complimentary bikes for a ride around town (with plenty of suggestions from the valets, of course). The icing on the cake for us was their "Director of Pet Relations," a retired guide dog, named Timmy, who calmly manned the concierge desk from 10a-6p every day! The local microbrew and wine tastings in the evenings were a nice touch too. Will definitely be back!

the location of this hotel was perfect to walk everywhere. the rooms were spacious and decorated in a comfy modern boutique feel. the hosted coffee and wine hours were a great addition to our stay along with the pianist that played at night to whinde down the day. the staff was very friendly and helpful. we loved everything about this hotel. I don't have anything negative to say about it.

Enjoyed the large open lobby that was comfortable and well used by guests. Staff was fabulous. Dogs are welcome at the hotel and we enjoyed meeting a few very well behaved dogs during the wine and coffee hours. Our only complaint was that it was noisy at night with delivery trucks and activity outside. Hard to avoid outside noise in downtown Portland and we definitely would stay at Hotel Monaco again.
