Holiday Inn Express Detroit-Birmingham - ברמינגהאם

OK, mentioned to reception on the first morning that one of the lights was out in the bathroom, but it never got repaired the whole time I was there and the bathroom sink plug was broken. Alittle effort into keeping minor maintenance up to date would help make it a more pleasant experience.

It was great, the complimentary breakfast and the exercise facilities were perfect (I'm a runner and it was too cold out to run outside). The room was huge and everything was very comfortable. Very hospitable and attentive staff.

Need to redecorate; old fashioned. Nice hot breakfast & nice neighborhood. Needs bigger parking lot & my room & water from the sink never got hot.

This hotel is very quaint, and has a great location. The pictures on the website do not do it justice at all. It is definitely not the most modern hotel I have ever stayed in; but the rooms were clean, the staff was awesome, continental breakfast was good, and the beds were comfortable. We would definitely stay here in the future!

The folks were great!

The toilet did not flush properly during our 4 night stay. It broke down on the last night there. We used the bathroom on the first floor next to the work out room. The iron was rusty on the bottom and leaked rusty water on my expensive silk sweater top the first time I tried to use it. They had to send my top out to the dry cleaners to be cleaned. They did not call me when my top came back from the cleaners. I brought down the rusted out iron to the front desk and got a new one. But the damage was done. I was born and raised in B'ham. I lived there until 1972. Your hotel is not up to par, in my humble opinion. I expected much more and got way less. :((( I told everybody at my 50th reunion about how your hotel leaves much to be desired.

It is a very well located hotel. Unfortunately it is not very clean.

friendly, accommodating staff and grocery w/n a block, great hamburgers across the street and wonderful local area w/shopping and restaurants. Rooms are comfortable, clean.

This hotel sits across the street from where Birmingham downtown begins and it is well worth the stay. The rooms were clean and decor was nice. Perfect for the business traveler and the small size of the hotels is comfortable for couples as well. The building is a bit antiquated so the hallways and elevators are not equipped with air con, but the rooms definitely are. Breakfast is well prepared and the staff is top notch. I will be coming back to the area and plan to stay here again.

Upon checking in at the hotel I wasn't greeted in a very friendly manner. There weren't any hi's, hello's, or how are you doing. There just wasn't any hospitality at all. In the business of hospitality, you have to smile and be curtious, even when your not in the mood for it. Once in the room, I was a little happier. Good size room, excellent carpet, nice and clean. The bathroom was the same, clean and comfortable. Had a problem with the toilet not flushing that wasn't solved, no one came to the room to see what was the problem. Problem didn't get fixed before checking out. All in all a good hotel for a slightly high price. Definitely could use some more curtious and time concious employees.

Overall, the hotel suited my needs for a quick business trip. Unfortunately, the Internet didn't work in the room, but the staff was very friendly in trying to accommodate me. Breakfast was good - lots of options. I think it's a historic building, so the hotel is a little bit older than other Holiday Inn Express' I've stayed in. The surrounding Birmingham area is very cute.

Overall, I had a nice stay, but there were not very up-to-date amenities in this hotel. The breakfast was nice, but there was limited seating and the room was a bit cramped. Front desk staff at late night check-in was not very helpful. Additionally, the hotel is right near a busy street so there was more street noise than expected at night.

Rooms are not updated as well as others in the area and quite small. Water pressure was weak and tv was old. Staff was nice and the breakfast was included, but I would choose to stay elsewhere on my next visit.

The hotel was what I expected for a Holiday Inn. Simple with the bare necessities. If you need a cheap place, you'll do fine here for 2 nights! It's a very convenient location to "downtown" Birmingham where I was in town for a wedding. The room didn't seem super clean - hair on shower wall, leftovers in the fridge - but nothing too bad. The front desk provided me with extra toiletries (razor, shaving cream, toothpaste) and they were very helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast was edible, but I recommend just going to a nearby brunch place, Toast. But hey, it was free.

Location is Perfect. Walk across the street to all bars, restaurants, shops. I travel on business and this is the only place I stay! The staff is SUPER- front desk, housekeeping, breakfast staff, and management. I would highly recommend to anyone- reasonable but perfectly located. Would also be great for a wedding party or social weekend. Roomy fridges in all rooms allows for snacks and drinks! I love this place!
