Staff was incredibly nice knowlegable of area. Outside resteraunt was beautiful. There is always a BUT I felt like I was staying in a IKEA room. Not very original and small room with small bathroom. But clean and friendly atmosphere.

In all fairness, I was in this room for one short night as I had a late arriving flight. In summary though, thought the hotel was very nice looking and stylish. Great patio and nice kitchen and bar scene. Guest passes to 24Hour Fitness a short block away was a very nice perk as well. My room was clean and nice, although nothing special. The big challenge I had was the noise from the surrounding rooms. I heard everything. A woman and a man having a casual conversation could be heard. I am not sure because its thin walls, shared air conditioning vents, but the noise was the loudest I have heard from all my travels as of recently, and I travel a lot. So something to think about...

The location is ideal--right on a Max light rail line and not far from the Portland Streetcar line, it is easy to get to and from. The neighborhood includes several great restaurants close enough to walk to. The hotel itself has a very nice restaurant with a great outdoor seating area. There is live music in the lounge on the weekend and it is clear that even the locals come by to enjoy the show and the service. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful and the little details in the rooms, such as great pillows and glass glasses, made it feel like you were really being taken care of and didn't just find a place to sleep.

We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here when I was traveling around the Portland area for business. It is very convenient to I-5 and the airport. When I was in the room I was at ease. It was quiet and comfortable. There isn't much in the immediate vicinity in the way of food, but there is a lot just a short drive away.

Great location to Keller. Nice outdoor court yard with fire pits.

This is my fourth or fifth stay at Hotel Modera. It's great. The front desk staff is super nice. Only issue is that the HVAC is very loud. Not a super big deal--you get used to it.

Very cool hotel with very considerate concierges staff.

We really liked the hotel overall. My only complaint is that they gave us a wheelchair accessible room, which meant that we took our showers practically on top of the toilet. I called to see if they had a non-accessible room available, but they were all sold out. We didn't actually eat at the restaurant, but had a beer on the patio by the fire pit one night, which was really nice. Room are pretty basic, but very clean, cleverly organized for the space, and had everything we needed. Awesome location!

Some of the hotel staff could be a bit friendlier but all in all it was a great stay.

Lovely hotel and rooms, just more sterile than we like. Very ultra modern, minimilist. If that is what you like this hotel is for you. Furniture in the lobby is extremely uncomfortable but the beds were good.

Great size building and location. Rooms verycomfortable. Bathroom small.

My son booked this hotel for me since it is right down the street from where he works - The Raven and Rose. It was very comfortable and the staff was friendly.

Walls are thin, service was great... Modern rooms

This is a lovely, modern (dare I say: hip) boutique hotel in the south end of Portland, right across the street from a Portland State University building. It was actually cheaper than the pseudo-swank, high-rise convention hotel, and offered much better amenities and an eager-to-please staff. They provided directions and suggestions for my wife when she went out searching for a specific fabric store. Well done! PLUS, since it is only four stories, smokers like us (Stand Up!) are never far from an exterior door.

Nice, modern hotel: it showed particularly in the lobby and the room's bathroom. I particularly liked the furry-looking blanket that was included at the foot of the bed. And everything was very clean - as an allergy sufferer, I'm especially sensitive to dusty or moldy bed sheets and blankets, and everything was very good. Plus it was walking distance to a 24-Hour Fitness. I'll definitely return.

We were in town to attend the Synphony -- very close and couldn't be happier about our accommodations. Delightful experience.

My girlfriend and I were visiting for the Portland Jazz Festival and we stayed in this hotel. We enjoyed it. The staff was quite friendly, professional, and attentive. We enjoyed our room and was amazed at how the center of the bathroom mirror was fog free and the rest got fogged up. It was an ingenious attention to detail. The $27 for valet parking was grossly overpriced.

As advertised. Good location, clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff, would most definitely stay again.

I had stayed at hotel modera in the past, and it was much as I remembered. It is in a good location, with the max and streetcar not too far away, and just a short walk to the city center. Overall, the hotel was very clean. I was surprised however, at the condition of the shower. The coating in the tub was missing in places, and the caulking needed to be redone. Still, I will definitely stay here again. The outdoor courtyard is very nice, especially during the summer.

The staff was amazing - perfect place to shop, eat, and enjoy a show. I will be back!

I stayed here for my birthday night, and couldn't have picked a better hotel! I thought the staff was extremely friendly and courteous, the location was perfect for the nightlife of Portland, and the hotel itself was one of the nicest I have ever stayed in. I loved the fireplaces outside, the rooms were extremely cozy, plus having an Ipod dock for music was awesome (just stayed at a nice hotel in Whistler Village in Whistler, Canada, and they didn't even have that). I loved this hotel and plan on staying again. Worth every penny!

We were very satisfied with the look and feel of this hotel. It was a great location, great ambiance, design and a great value. It's annoying that downtwn hotels charge so much or parking, but that seems to be the norm so can't really complain about Modera, specifically, for doing this. The one thing that was extremely annoying to us is that when we arrived back to the hotel one evening at 11:02 and went into the bar to try and grab a couple glasses of wine to bring to our room, we were told they closed at 11 even though there were employees sitting at the bar drinking. Not cool. When we tried to then purchase a bottle of wine from the little store on site, the guy at the desk told us that he couldnt help us since the manager had just left for the night with the keys. He suggested we try the bar. Right. Thanks. Not a super big deal, just annoying. No one really seemed to care.

From top to bottom, the Hotel Modera was excellent. The staff was always friendly, courteous and knowledgable. The room was clean and comfortable. The pass to the 24 Hour Gym a few blocks away allowed us to work out in a full service gym with pool. The valet service was quick, efficient and worth the extra charge. The in house restaurant was a good choice for breakfast and seemed to do a brisk evening business though we ate elsewhere. Overall, I strongly recommend the Hotel Modera.

Spent the weekend exploring Portland for the first time, and this was an excellent base. Very convenient to public transportation, and easy walking all over downtown. Everyone was extremely friendly, the room was not generous, but not tiny. Nice amenities, and very quiet. would stay here again!

I travel to Portland for business monthly, and have become accustomed to a few simple amenities such as a fridge, microwave, ice machine, free parking and complimentary breakfast. ..not happening at the Hotel Modera. The rooms are nice enough but they seem just a little too impressed with themselves for my taste.

I would recommend Hotel Moderate to those who enjoy the boutique style. I will stay there again. The only issue I had was that the Hotel does not have a pool or any amentities like that. It does offer a free pass to a 24hr fitness that is one block over. Overall great.

I stay in 100+ hotels a year and see a lot of properties. The Hotel Modera is my favorite of at least the last six months. Great looking, trendy, chic property that is well maintained and clean. Nice amenities, comfortable room, good breakfast. I highly recommend the Modera

Coming from the airport, just one transfer on the light rail system left me 1.5 blocks from the hotel. My business involved meetings at city offices on the edge of Portland State and it was a short walk to get there. The only concern was the non-secure wireless network otherwise I had no issues. I would certainly stay there again.

Located on the south edge of downtown, the hotel is within walking distance of downtown / Pearl District restaurants & bars. If you don't like walking, you can always take the tram. The rooms are very nicely finished, with funky bathrooms. The front counter and valet staff are super friendly and helpful.I would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I have stayed in Portland a few times before and by far Hotel Modera has been the most pleasant. From the minute we walked in the staff from the valet to the front desk staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room while a little on the small side was clean and comfortable with all of the conveniences and amenities you might expect from comparable hotels. Walking distance to shopping and food but far enough from the bustle of downtown to enjoy a quiet night or sleep in late. Would highly recommend the restaurant downstairs (El Centro?) for drinks or late night meals (the staff there was also very friendly). All-in-all a wonderful trip made even better by our stay at Hotel Modera.

I loved Portland and thought the Hotel Modera and its staff delightful.

Hotel I an older hotel but clean I don't like the fact that you book a hotel at a good price come to find out they nail you for 27 dollars a night to park your car

The room arrangement was a bit awkward-the bathroom door 'doubled' as closet door and did not lock. It was also heavy and hard to open-no knobs. It was listed as Premium King but was pretty small with tight quarters. Tipping for valet parking can get expensive if you're in and out a lot.
