La Concha Beach Resort - לה פאס

It was a nice Mexican hotel to say in, good value for our money, but we did have some glitches...our room door lock didn't work all the time and we moved to another room and had a housekeeping issue but staff was very attentive to keep us happy. Rooms basic, no safe, no chain on door, no sink stoppers....fortunately I didn't lose any jewelry down the drain! Food and restaurant service was great....nice beach, with a few rocks and plant growth in the water....jacuzzi not functioning...loved the pool area though....and ease of water sports like snorkeling, scuba, spa, kayaking... the exercise gym was lacking but I didn't want to use it anyway as I was on vacation!

A beautiful location but due to weather issues, the hotel needs some maintenance. The rooms are small but acceptable and it was clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent. A nice place to stay for a night or two.

I paid a lot less than the other resorts in the area which may have been "fancier", but this place is just as nice and well worth the savings!

We felt comfortable and well taken care of, but bathroom needed work in shower. Some possible indications of mold and failure of grout.

Nice family hotel right on the beach. Excellent food at the restaurant. Friendly staff - very clean pool and grounds. Rooms a little run down but overall an excellent place to stay. Free pedal boats and kayaks for guests. Beach towels provided.

We liked this hotel; the only downsides were the stony driveway and parking lot, too bumpy to believe, and the lack of signage to find it in the dark on arrival. The 4 of us, wife and I and two daughters, had large free breakfasts, and enjoyed the facilities and quiet but gorgeous location and grounds. The room was smallish and it was a cold spell, quite unusual for BAJA, but otherwise highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay, hot showers, friendly staff, great food and a wonderful view of the palm trees and ocean right from the bed. Would stay there again.

Very nicely set-up Hotel but it definitely needs an uplift. Even if you don't stay there you need to go to their restaurant. The food and service are outstanding and prices were very reasonable.

Despite the low reviews, we gave this hotel and shot and loved it. We stayed two nights, the room was fair, flat screen TV, AC, small balcony, ocean view... The grounds were fabulous. Well maintained, lots of fun statues. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. The location is just outside of town. If you are into running, you can run the Malecon all the way into town. the beach is nice, there are kayaks free to use if you are into that sort of thing. The Cortez Club Dive Center is right next door, with dive and snorkeling trips. The hot tub was empty which is disappointing. We don't smoke, but ended up in a smoking room. It did not smell or smoke at all. Overall I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel! It was secluded but close enough to town. The resturnat was amazing! The prices for drinks and such were a little pricey though. All in all the view was the most amazing sight ever!

This hotel is hard to find, the signage is only on one side of the road. Our room smelled of sewage, they were nice enough to move us. The second room was fine, very basic, but did the job. The bed was comfy, not too springy. The restaurant food and waitstaff was excellent. They are quick to serve you, but very slow to bring the check, you may have to ask for it. The beach has nice palapas and loungers and the ocean perfectly laps at the shore. We enjoyed our stay.

The staff, location, room was excellent. It is an older hotel but overall it was great. A private beach that was groomed every morning. The Cortez Club was right there where excursions into the bay and sea of cortez could be booked. We went in mid-Nov and the weather was excellent and we virtually had the hotel, beach, bar, restaurant to ourselves. Couldn't have been better. Taxi to downtown Center was only 5 min away and cost was more than reasonable. Taxi was always there at hotel and no problem finding one on way back. Great shopping in La Paz City center.

The Hotel is far away from everything, If you need a pharmacy or something else they don't have it.

La Concha resort was a little ways from town, about 5-6 kilometers, should have a rental car if you stay here and plan on traveling around. The driveway in/out was very rough on the vehicle, they have had extra rain and it may have been due to the weather. The first night was quite noisy until about midnight due to a wedding party. Our room was on the first floor next to the lobby and late nights and early mornings were a little on the noisy side. The staff was extremely professional and helpful in everyway. The room was clean when we arrived and cleaned everyday and everything worked as expected. I find that in Mexico they like very firm beds, have had one every year for the last 5 years down there. A beautiful beach out back, the nicest one of all the hotels I've stayed at, along with a nice pool. They have sit on kayaks available at no extra cost for your use. This is my fifth year going to La Paz and I have had good experiences with the hotels every year. La Concha was no exception, I would use them again.

We read all the reviews before booking our stay. The pool was a big draw as was the hotel being on the beach. The pool was not opened, the A/C was on in our room for 6 hrs and still it was not cool. The staff did move us to another room with no problems. We do not have high expectations BUT the hotel is in desperate need of renovations or it will be left behind with all the newer, smaller and cheaper hotels that are popping up all over La Paz. One outstanding feature was the staff. Everyone we dealt with was just terrfic. Also the breakfast was just great!!!!! The hotel is a fair distance from town so you do need a car but there are taxis out front.

I was overwhelmed by the hospitality and warmth of the staff as well as the breathtaking location. The building, however, needs some TLC. Slow drains and peeling paint made my otherwise clean and comfortable room seem shabby.

Writing this review July 22 after a short stay at La Concha. Room very small with no view (in mine at least).. No shade available near pool. Vapor room and sauna out of order until further notice. Jacuzzi not in service. Those are 2 reasons that we stayed at hotel. Check out staff rude and had hickeys (yes those disgusting things that teenager put all over each other) all over. Totally inappropriate for working front desk. Food was not bad, but I think over priced and I live in Mexico full time. Beach in front nice for swim. Pool was open to 10 pm which was nice to go fir night swim. Corridor door outside our room open and closed all night constantly waking up my baby. Very restless night. Decent breakfast. We booked room with meal plan. It was worth it. Won't stay here again. We have also stayed at a private house in La Paz for near the same amount of $$$$. The beach house was a WAY BETTER OPTION. Look around.

Not satisfied at all!!!, room really small, the blankets old and not that nice, the room where we stayed was in front of the laundry room of the hotel and outside didn't smell that nice, the shower really bad looking and not clean at all. Not going back!!!!!

How many hotels are there in La Paz on the beach for this price? None I'm sure. How many have restaurants with great tasting food and low prices. La Concha is the best. The restaurant has Lobster, New York, Filet Mignon Steak, Pastas, everything and excellent quality and flavor at extremely low prices. The beach is the best, perfect sandy beach with kayaking and snorkeling. There are lounge chairs, huts, covers, umbrellas, restaurant service to the beach for food or drinks and a nice huge pool. The rooms are a little on the small side, are very clean, have a fridge, huge king size bed (could use a newer thicker comforter). Remote would be nice for the air conditioner and more options for controls. Some rooms have a balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean for the same price. We enjoyed the art them of the hotel, mainly in the restaurant and out by the pool.

Restaurant good, but it's tough to find a Mexican hotel where the restaurant is bad. On the sand and right next to a sportfishing dock, a couple miles out of town. Closer to the best beaches in La Paz. Hotel is older but they keep it clean. Major renovation underway now, but you can't stay there yet. Anticipate both the quality of the rooms and the price to be going up when it's done.

Would not stay there again. Old hotel uncomfortable beds and small rooms and old bathrooms.

The Hotel is older but the rooms are decent enough, The bed was firm which I liked. The food at the Hotel was good. The biggest problem that I had with this Hotel was that 4 out of the 7 nights we stayed,their was a large group of people who gathered accross the street from the hotel starting at 11:00 p.m. and staying until 4:00 to 5:00 am. all the while playing music so loud that the base literally viberated the front door. The first night it happened, I called the front desk and was told that they had allready called the police several times but they had not shown yet. The music ended about 4:00 a.m. Don't ask me how I know. The next night it started up again, I called the front desk and got a similar response as the night before. If you sleep lite, ???

The location was great, slightly out of town, but a quick drive and/or long walk. The views were beautiful and the setting spectacular. The room came with American breakfast, which includes fruit, eggs, toast, bacon/ham. The dining room was convenient and great food and service. My only disappointment was the "kitchenette" advertized, which is really just a half refrigerator, but with the convenience of the dining room, we completely did not miss having a kitchen.

This hotel/resort has obviously fallen on hard times. Although the staff was friendly, the hotel is in sad shape. The beds are hard as a rock!!! The food is mediocre at best. It is not within walking distance to the local shops etc. I have stayed at many 3 star hotels in Mexico and I would rate this at a 2 or less.

The location is away from the main part of the city. The view from the room and restaurant are good. But the mattresses are very poor. I looked at 3 different rooms and spent one night in the 3rd room. The others were not good. Even though the price is good, I would not stay there because of the mattresses. I was offered an upgrade, but declined since there is no reason why you needed an upgrade to get a good mattress. Also, the location of the rooms are odd-some are down long hallways and since there is no elevator, the stairs and walk to the 3rd floor is inconvenient.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beachfront hotel. It's just far enough out of town to escape the noise and traffic, and close enough for quick trips to the city waterfront. The hotel's restaurant is superb- be sure to get the breakfast as part of your package. There's good snorkeling right in front, and kayaks to borrow or rent. Our only complaint is that our trip was too short!

Stayed at this hotel for two nights on a weekend trip from Cabos to go on a whale shark excursion. This place is old and in dire need of renovations but it is NOT dirty. The staff are very nice and helpful and the view is fantastic. Too far from town to walk, we had a car but I believe they have a free shuttle. If you stay do buy the breakfast included option. The restaurant is very nice, food is excellent and well worth the small extra that is charged for it. For the price per night if you are looking just for a place to sleep you can't knock it.

The view from the small room was nice. Dinner in the restaurant was superb.

We stayed here for two days and had an amazing experience. The entire staff was friendly and well trained. The prices at the restaurant and on the beach were extremely reasonable.

Simply awesome and cheap too!

The property was dated (70's?) but well maintained. Quiet private area just outside the main city. Were initially put in a room which had not been updated & hence no screens. Left the sliding doors open at night to hear the water & catch the breeze & ended up with a room full of aggressive mosquitos who bit us through the night while sleeping. Moved to an updated room for the 2nd night which was much better. Food was good, staff very accomodating.

I would not stay at this hotel again. It looks like it was built in the 60's of 70's, and nothing has changed since then. The beds, curtains, pillows, and towels were very, very old. We noticed that they were renevating a few of the rooms with new beds and maybe even some flat screen televisions, but for some reason they did not put us into those rooms. Even if they had it still would not have been a good experience. The shower also did not have any hot water. Lastly, there is not elevator so we carried our heavy bags up three flights of stairs. We originally stayed at the hotel because we were going to Scuba Dive with their operation. The first day of diving was good, but after that things went down hill. The surprising thing is that no one ever asked for our dive certification cards, or had us sign any paperwork. We just showed up, got on the boat and went diving. I liked the dive loactions and the crew was really cool, but I wouldn't have wanted my two boys to dive with this operation because frankly it is not very safe. The most frustrating part of the diving experience was the lack of any organization. They would tell me to arrive at a certain time, and I would, but they would not have a boat ready. Two of the days I didn't get to dive because of their lack of planning and organization, which was odd because their was less than 5 people diving every day. They charge about $150 per day to dive, and they lost about $600 from their lack of organization. We were told by a local that James (the owner) used to run a really tight ship and things were good in the past. He told us that James had been focusing on building condos, and let the operation go the crap. Truer words were never spoken. The positives: The staff was friendly, and the actual divemasters and captains were very cool people. Snorkeling with Whalesharks was amazing and the captain of the trip was great! Note: There were two or three hotels located right next to this place that were very, very nice.

What wonderful surprises this beautiful hotel had for us from the beautiful blue, turqoise, warm water, 5 star service. Great food. Free breakfast every morning. not just coffee & donuts but freshly cooked eggs, waffles, ham or bacon. Wonderful food , fresh squeezed onrange juice. delicious. Very affordable drinks. strong, good margaritas. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget wanting a Great time.

The hotel and grounds are nice. We just stayed overnight. I think it would be a pretty good place for a longer stay which could include kayaks and fishing and snorkeling. It is not close to el centro but was on the way to the ferry, which is what we were doing the next day. The pool is nice, rooms fine, though a bit old, and the services were good. We had breakfast there--unfortunately our most memorable experience of that is the sausage (not good--like a wiener with slits in it so it curled up). Pleasant atmosphere in general.

Had to try three rooms before we found one that didn't smell. Rooms on first floor have strange balconies that almost let you go straight to the pool but really don't, forcing you to take long walks to go anywhere. Beach is okay, not special. Grounds need some maintenance. There's nothing to do around the hotel neighborhood so driving into town becomes necessary. Restaurant doesn't seem to get a lot of use, tho we had a pretty great breakfast. Dive shop, Cortez club, runs a good operation though I think they should do more instruction for discovery dives. Prices are high too.

It s probably the only hotel in la Paz on the beach, and it s nice and fairly priced, but the rooms, or at least the bathrooms needs some renovation. It s still quite nice, and remember we are in Mexico. Breakfast it s included and it s ok, so overall I can recommend the hotel, especially considering the price and the location, better to get the rooms on the upper floors, the ones on the bottom floor are more umid.

The distance from hotel to the malecon was too far . Taxi was needed. Pool closed too early. Bar closed too early. Not friendly staff. Room was run down. Needed work done on it. Toilet issue . Overall, go elsewhere!!

I would highly recommend it for families. Each room looks out at the center courtyard and the private beach. The water is warm, the waves minimal, the depth just right for children and there are colorful fish that swim around your legs. The hotel even offers a kayak for use. The pool was also a hit, with a section of shallow water for my three year old to play in. The restaurant was reasonably priced and had good quality food that appealed to everyone. The waitstaff was genuinly friendly and warm towards us and our children, making us feel right at home. We only stayed one night but are looking forward to staying longer in the future.

Its a pretty good hotel for the price. Nice beach although if you have a car there are much nicer ones nearby. The only downside was when we went to get a drink to watch the sunset, I felt I was being sold fishing and diving trips by the barman and then he persuaded us to have a margarita and charge us $10 per drink. His justification was that they had a lot of alcohol in - to much for our tastebuds. They lost out in the end because if the price was reasonable then we would have drunk more times at the bar. This just pushed us into a taxi into town for a nicer time.

The hotel is located away from Downtown and it takes about 50-60 minutes to walk to it. A small portion of the road there is no walkway, but once you get past it the boardwalk is the mose beautiful boardwalk. The rooms are clean and efficient. The staff is very accomodating. They got me a microwave oven in the room. Breakfast is not like continental that you expect. You have a choice of either a mexican dish (give you a lot) or pancakes or waffles with a fruit skewer and orange juice, coffee and toast. The pool area and the beach are very quiet (No blaring music all the time). You can a lounge chair anytime and the water is very shallow and kayak and snorkeling available.

I spent 6 nights at La Concha in 03/11. Overall I was very happy with my choice and felt it was an excellent value. The personnel were all cheerful, friendly & helpful. The grounds are beautiful and it is right on the beach with beautiful views & sunsets. It is close to town although it would be a very long walk. The room was small and showed the amount of wear you would expect for a hotel of its age but it was nicely decorated and very clean. I have two cautions however. The picture you see on the ads is NOT the hotel. It is the condo. The hotel is a three story bldg with no elevator so if you are not in shape, request a first or second floor room. Also, there is no real balcony. It is a tiny "Romeo & Juliety" style balcony that you can stand on but no room to sit. Also, the A/C in our room rattled and made it hard to sleep. I don't kow if that is the case with all of them or whether ours was defective, but bring earplugs! That said, I would definitely consider La Concha again for our next trip to La Paz

The hotel and rooms are a bit dated, but the location is exceptional. If you plan to spend your days in your room, pass on this one, if you plan to be outside enjoying the beach and the city of La Paz, the price is right on this hotel. The margaritas are very good at the poolside bar and so were our sandwiches.
