Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel - קילואה-קונה

We stay in Kapoho (other side of island) for most of our vacation. We arrive in Kona because we don't like to spend precious vacation time waiting in the airport in Honolulu for a connecting flight to Hilo Airport so we fly into Kona and drive to the other side. Two days prior to departure, we like to stay at the King Kamehameha because it is the perfect send off to the islands. The beds are very, very comfortable and like the proximity to the airport and last minute shopping. We will be back again.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 7 days. During this time everything was great. The hotel was very clean and everyone was very friendly. The beds are also extremely comfortable and very clean. I'm super picky about hotel beds and these are amazing. This hotel has a small beach that was convienient along with a place to rent snorkeling, paddle boards and other beach gear. If your not super picky about being on a big beach but good with a place to let your kids play, snorkle a little and just lay out to get some sun, this is a good place to be. The only thing I disliked was the $12 a day they charge for parking. Its nice to have a vehicle on the island to go different places, but be prepared for the parking fees. The breakfast buffet is also a little pricy, but everything is in Hawaii. The hotel is also in a great neigborhood. Lots of different shops and eating places to walk to and spend a day just wandering around the area. The hotel is also right next to the boat dock for boating excursions or fishing trips. There is an ABC store (local convienient store) in the hotel as well, very handy to grab a quick snack or souvineres. Overall this is a great place to stay!

Not as grandiose as the resorts but a lot more reasonable rates. The rooms and pool area are top notch. Downsides are tiny beach and bit of a musty/dated lobby area. The history and artwork there are great but the first floor area needs updating.

We loved the hotel, BUT at 4:30am the fire alarm went off sending us ALL out of our rooms and out side. Nothing was said to us from staff, we finally went in to the front desk to find out it was a false alarm, someone had pulled the fire alarm. IT was April's Fools Day. However we were still charged for our parking and no apology or compinsation for our discomfort.But we did love the hotel and our breakfast was very excellant.

It was excellent, the inclusive buffet breakfast was v.g.overlooking the ocean with open dining area Facility well taken care of, parking lot is security staffed at the gate entrance 24 hrs.All staff very friendly and accommodating. Met all our expectations. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel in a great location right in the middle the Kailua. Many great stores, restaurants and bars within walking distance and right on a beach with swimming, snorkling boarding etc. The hotel was very comfortable and the employees made every interaction very pleasant. They were always trying to make your stay better. For an extended stay there are very good laundry facilities available for your use. The room was a good size and the bed was by far the best of my entire trip. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definately stay there again.

Location was fantastic! Close to shopping, ocean, lots of restaurants. We stayed in an ocean view room which was fantastic! Pool was great. Rooms clean and quiet, beds were very comfortable. No complaints with respect to the hotel. Will definitely stay here again!

Had never been there before. Hotel is in excellent location - by the harbor and within walking distance of shops and good eating places. Staff was very friendly

The staff were very friendly, plenty of parking, big pool, comfortable and clean room, and decent beach area. We had a standard room, all rooms have balconys which is nice. I almost paid extra for ocean views but I'm glad I didn't and it's not necessary. There are many extra water activities you can do straight behind the hotel including snuba. Easy to get to from the airport, shopping center near by, souvenir shop is in the hotel (abcstore) which is great. And the local market/shops are within walking distance. There is also a Luau at this hotel on Tuesdays which looked similar to the one we went to but ours was at the Sheraton on a Monday.

Short and sweet. Too short really. The hotel is gorgeous, rooms very nice, staff very friendly and welcoming. Large, convenient parking lot and reasonable overnight parking fees. Open air restaurant on the sea (not so great service or food) - but wonderful atmosphere! Overall, Great place to stay in Kailua/Kona, Hawaii.

Great location, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodations. A wonderful experience for all - especially families.

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very comfortable. I was amazed at how quiet the hallways were. We never heard other guest. We had two partial ocean view rooms on the 4th and 6th floor. The hotel staff were all very friendly and accomodated my request to have rooms away from the elevators. I'd definitely stay there again.

The staff were friendly, the hotel was up to scratch. Our room looked into the courtyard, but that meant we had a full view of the mountain behind, which was awe inspiring! The only down side was that we were put into a room behind the elevator, and I dreamt of Thunderstorms the first night. We are good sleepers, so it didn't make much of a difference to us, but if you are a light sleeper, word to the wise: ask to be moved. The free breakfast buffet is not worth a broken night's sleep.

We enjoyed everything we did, especially the casual atmosphere of the hotel and its convenience to things we wanted to do. Staff were very helpful, too. Enjoyable Luau and excellent entertainment!

This hotel was awesome, the room was very clean, location was right at the end of where all the activity is on Alii Dr so you could still walk to everything but still enjoy peace and quiet too! Close to all the tours off the dock and they have a luau three times a week! Once we had checked in and found our room, we asked to move to the other side of the hotel so we had a better view of the (partial ocean view) that we paid extra for. They changed it with no problem. Thank you so much! I would recommend doing that if this happens to you! Bought the breakfast for two online when I booked and it was good but we got a little tired of the same items in buffet every day. And for the price each it was not worth it for what you got. I would have liked a few different choices. We actually gave away our coupons one day so we could go try something different. I would have done the buffet, maybe the first and last day, but you dont have the choice when you add this online. We had to get all seven days. Maybe that could be changed for the next time! :)

The hotel staff was great and very helpful. However the house cleaning was terrible!! There was only 1 day that our room was cleaned correctly. Only 2 days was the coffee pot cleaned and cleaned glasses left for the next day, pool towells were only left 1 day, and we even had to ask for bath towels. We stayed 7 days and for the amount of money we paid, we should not have had to call house keeping or the front desk every day for something.

Lobby area was extremely spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished with Hawaiian history and artifacts. All staff were accommodating to all our needs. Rooms and corridors were spacious as well. Onsite gym, spa, restaurants, beach-front lagoon, huge parking lot and free internet access in rooms made our stay comfortable and convenient. Lots of restaurant choices in walking distance also available. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel met all of my expectations. It is located right in Kailua which opens up a whole range of dining possibilities. I will stay here again if visiting the big island.

The hotel is located conveniently in downtown Kona. Lots of places to walk to. That's one of the best parts about the hotel. There is a very "tiny" beach right at the hotel (it cannot get closer than that). This beach will serve well for small kids (and for adults who just want to take a dip in the water).We also checked out other hotels (Sheraton, Hilton). This one is not as fancy as these. But the beach at the hotel is a definite plus. Our kids (8 and 10) had lots of fun. Buffet full breakfast is just ok. Would I stay here next time? Not sure. There was a funny musty smell throughout the lobby area (something that would smell in a very damp place). I did not ask the lobby people about it.

The hotel looks a little questionable from the outside, but rest assured that the rooms and everything within the hotel are great! We were very pleased with our room, and everything was very clean. However, our neighbors were SO loud (obnoxiously drunk, jumping on and off the beds, listening to the TV so loud that we could hear every word) that I think the people downstairs must have finally called the front desk around 1am and complained. Someone came up, but they were quiet for about 3 minutes and then went back to being loud. No one came back up to tell them to either be quiet or leave, and in the morning when we told the front desk lady, she very insincerely apologized on behalf of the hotel and the staff and promptly dismissed us. I would definitely recommend staying here because that isn't enough to warrant a poor review, however be warned that if you have loud neighbors, you will suffer all evening.

The hotel was comfortable and well located. Only complaint is that our room was very noisy as it was located on one of the lower floors close to the main road. We had an ocean view whcih was nice but would have been so much better in the other block and up higher.

Room was as expected. Clean and nice. Pool and spa was beautiful and very relaxing. All staff were perfectly helpful. Day spa was lovely. Easy access to food nearby which was fantastic as we had toddlers. Thankyou we loved our stay.

This hotel is right on the water in Kona, pretty much in the middle of everything. Recently renovated so it was pretty nice. Nice staff, very friendly. Within walking distance of many restaurants and entertainment.

We enjoyed our stay here at the King Kamehameha. The room was clean and well appointed, the service was friendly, the food at the poolside bar was delicious, and you had the choice of the pool or the hotel's own beach. It is in a great location just a short walk from all the local restaurants and bars, and also the shopping centres.

really really nice hotel, very friendly staff (maybe the manager at the reception could have been a tiny lit bit more helpful), beautiful.

Hotrl had great service and lots of neat history in the lobby. All the amenities. Beach view is not the best but can't go WTO g for the price
