Niece quiet motel tim hortons beside it 100 ft its own restaurant in a seprate biulding new owners are brinigthe motel up to 2012 standard .some rooms have cooking faciuties .three sections some with great river view But clean and well maintsined

This room was not one of those which have been upgraded, but was clean and very convenient. The room was in one of the rear buildings and was quiet.

an older hotel with beautiful river views and a restaurant/patio next door. Swimming pool for summer time visitors. The main hotel area and exterior of buildings is worn and showing it's age but they are renovating the suites themselves and these are very nice.Staff very friendly.

Everything I read indicated focused on the renovated rooms. Our booking confirmation indicated that our room opened to a balcony. The room we were given was in an older building and was not renovated at all. The carpet & decor were old. The room did not open to a balcony - it opened to the sidewalk across the front of the building, one step up from the parking lot. There was a fogged-up window that opened to a neglected bit of grass that separated that building from the front building. The building shown in the pictures has rooms (exactly the same floor plan) that were renovated and opened to a balcony - we did not have a room like that at all. I expected 'newly renovated' and I got 'tired, dated, should have been renovated 10 years ago'. I printed and brought the initial booking confirmation, not the only with details like "opens to a balcony" so I didn't bother to challenge the room assignment. There were very few cars parked at the renovated building so I don't think there was a reason why we were put in one of the older buildings unless it was the price. Even if we had been in the building behind us, we could have had a balcony (some rooms under renovation). On a positive note - there was a courtesy computer in the lobby and the bathroom was clean. If anyone else books a room be sure to insist on being in the renovated building!

The outside of the hotel looked promising as we arrived, but the lobby was our first sign that there is a real need for updating and renovation. Photos show great well appointed rooms. Our rooms were not anything like the photos at all. Loud poor functioning air conditioner, sagging beds, and old and tired flooring, walls, and furniture. The hotel is relatively close to the airport but there are nicer hotels closer to the airport. At the moment, this hotel is a real budget hotel, but I am not sure the savings are worth it. If you do stay, ask for an updated room. Otherwise, I would stay away.

This is an older hotel and we have stayed here several times. It is more than adequate for a weekend visit. It is clean, close to major thoroughfares and the staff are very accommodating.

I would definately stay there again. Very close to the airport,10 minutes to the Casino, and very quiet. Our room hadn't been updated yet, but it was a great price, very clean, and well kept. They are doing renovations to the buildings along the water now. Great setting.

Should be a one star.

Unfortunately we did not have hot water for showers on the first night we stayed, OK in the morning - did not report to anyone. The duvet on the bed was constructed of very noisy material - irritating! The continental breakfast was good and staff pleasant.

I have had multiple stays at this hotel was surprised by the construction hotel building refurb but I know that this is part of continuing improvement of any great hotel.

For a hotel that's gone through a full refit, the room looked a little old. All of the caulking in the bathroom was cracked, which shouldn't have been possible with a brand new refit - there will be mold issues in the future from that. Says there's internet, but the Ethernet plugs were taped over. There's wifi, but we weren't given a password for it. Since they have a full restaurant, the continental breakfast was tiny - toast, stale cereal, juice, milk, tea and coffee. When we went in for the continental breakfast, the entire restaurant was freezing - with fireplaces & heaters going. 1 of their heaters wasn't working, and so people were leaving the restaurant pretty quickly - most didn't bother finishing their breakfast before leaving because it was so cold. The heater/AC in the room though was horrible. To keep the room a decent temperature (ie above 18C), the heater had to be on all night, and it was loud. The room had a half stove (with big sink so you can do dishes), a coffee maker, and provided dishes and utensils for 2 people. Don't feel bad about skipping the Continental breakfast, and visiting Tim Horton's, which is located next door. Front Desk staff were extremely nice.

The hotel is old but the room is clean. With its location, It is reasonably priced. Our comfort can be significantly improved if the beds are replaced with new and firm mattresses.

This place needs a lot of money before you called it hotel!

This hotel was perfect for an overnight before leaving for vacation,. It was clean, easy access, not far from the airport and the parking was free for the week.

We were welcomed with an open smile and greeted very promptly beautiful setting even in the middle of winter, would love to see it in the summer as well...room was a clean and warm!

It's a great, quaint hotel, and the rates are great. There was hair in the bathtub and under the blankets of the bed that I thought was gross (as it did not appear to be head hair in either case).

The room was very out dated... Including the beds. The beds were horrible. Lumpy and uncomfortable. The room itself was some what clean.Definitely not worth the money I spent.

We were very warmly welcomed. The room was very clean and decently equipped. The location gives good value; it's only about 20 minutes from downtown via the highway and the Colonel By Drive, with a nice quiet setting right on the Rideau River. Lots of nice places to sit and enjoy the view. This hotel won't be great for everyone - say people who need to be at the heart of the action - but for those looking for a quieter spot to retreat to after a busy day it's probably the best around the city. We'd definitely stay there again.

We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. We use it as an overnight stay before departing for and returning from a Caribbean bound vacation. It is easy to locate (just off of Hunt Club Drive) and a short taxi ride to the Ottawa airport in the morning to catch the plane ($20 fare includes tip). The newly opened restaurant is a good addition. Food is very good with large helpings and reasonably priced. The continental breakfast offers a light breakfast before departing. No need to go off site to get food.

overall a very nice hotel, the continental breackfast could have been better but the view was great, clean room and friendly staff

The only place to stay in Ottawa!

Ireally loved the hotel. The room was abit outdated but clean. the view was breathtaking.breakfast wasnt that much impressing but u usually gona be in a hurry. i think i will go back again.

First room issued to us had a predominate odour - they issued us another room upon complaint.The coffee maker still had a used coffee package in it. The tap in the sink in the bathroom dripped water unless you played around with it to get it to a certain position. The hotel itself is in a great location - cleanliness is good - the whole setting is beautiful but its time to upgrade the rooms. From our experience we probably would not stay there again.

Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again. Room was very comfortable and looked out over the river with all its fall colours. Room was clean and service was very good. The free continental breakfast was great and you could also purchase a full breakfast if you desired. Location was excellent for us, close to our relative's home.

Good hotel for brief stay. Poor wifi in my room, had to go out to the balco.y to send emails. I would uss this hotel again.

An amazing view of the Rideau river, the only drawback was the wifi was really bad.... otherwise this place is spectacular. I enjoyed every bit of my stay here.

Room very much like Hotel.com advertisement, room was dated but very clean, staff were very helpful, easy to get to must see sights, I would stay there again...

The location of the hotel by the river is great. Apart from the location, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I stayed here for a night and overall a thumbs up for the hotel.

the room was clean and in front of the river. the scenery around it is beautiful. although it's far from downtown but I will certainly go back there.

THE VIEW WAS AMAZING AND HAD A NICE TIME OTHER THAN THE VERY BEGINNING WHEN SERVICE WAS SLOW. I WOULD STAY AGAIN.

It was convienient -Near to the University -we took our daughter -The rooms are outdated but functional -the patio door lock was broken -and the alarm clock had a mind of its own !!

There were a lot of stairs and they were all outside, there was an elevator to tho so that was good even tho the elevator was getting repaired so not usable when we left. The place where breakfast was served was nice, I don't like to get up early as I tend to be a night owl so went for breakfast around 9:30 when it was done at 10am. It would have been nice if the guy could have started to clean up the food after 10am and not while I was still there. Anyway other then that it was very good. I would go back there again. The place was very quiet and dog friendly which attracted us as we had our 2 dogs with us.

We had a family trip to Ottawa and stayed in this hotel for one night. We are very satisfied with the surrounding neighborhood. It was quiet and has a river next to the building. The service was great and the complimentary breakfast was good too. The room we stayed in was clean.

My daughter and I travelled to Ottawa from the Toronto area on a Sunday and we moved her into college residence on the Monday.The Monterey Hotel was situated close enough to the school to be ideal, as was the price. It was no 5-star hotel but it was clean, safe, comfortable and affordable. We just needed a place to sleep for the night and a clean, adequate bathroom in which to shower and get ready the next morning. It provided these basics, as well as a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning, in-room mini fridge (coffee maker and hair dryer), ethernet cable for internet from the front desk, was a lovely spot on the river to be by, had generous TV channels and a Tim Horton's RIGHT beside; I am happy with our stay. As they provide pet-friendly rooms at a reasonable extra fee I'll very likely stay there again when I bring our dog to visit his girl at school.

The hotel is spotless, very clean , staff friendly, but the rooms are from the early 80's are bathrioom had a make over but thats it. I think they are working on it .the free breakfast well there was 5 muffins all cranberry, tea, coffee, juice, 2 types of cearl & toast that was it. Because its in another buliding(resturant) you have the opion of ordering a full breakfast around $12 & up) Tim Hortons is right next door your better going there.or 5 minutes up the street is a great allday breakfast & resturant ROCKWELLS amazing breakfast we went there $7.00 for a full breakfast was awesome.

We were very comfortable at the hotel. Enjoyed the view of the river. Room was clean. We used the whirlpool and sauna. Whirlpool could have been a touch warmer but still enjoyed it.
