The pool was clean- lots of towels available & we were the only guests there at the time. The room worked pretty well & had fridge, microwave, sink & coffee maker. We also asked if we could use the breakfast area to cater in a meal. They gave permission & it worked great! In the morning, breakfast was fresh & was well maintained by staff. I would recommend the hotel, but probably not going outside for a stroll at night.

Very comfortable bed, quiet, exercise room had several machines The breakfast offers many options that are keep warm and fresh. The Holiday Express in Ames , Iowa has rooms with a microwave and refrigerator. Staff very friendly and wing to make your stay comfortable.

We had a great stay. The only exception was that the pool was too cold. OK for one of our kids but not for the other two. Everything else was great!

It was a wonderful stay. The only issue we had was the trains running through town at night and sounding their whistles. Kept some of us awake.

We will go back to this hotel.

Bathroom could have been cleaned a bit better

Nice hotel, people were very friendly, hotel was clean and comfortable...i requested a room with 2 beds, but with a large hockey event in town, they ran out of those rooms, so we were upgraded t o a suit with a bed and pull out couch, it was very nice.

About a half hour from Iowa City - would have preferred to have been closer - but gave us a chance to drive around Cedar Rapids and see what that city was like. Standard Holiday Inn Express. Clean, comfortable, convenient and breakfast included.

The desk staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was great, with microwave and frig.. We did have to ask for that to get that kind of room.

We enjoyed everything about it. The breakfast in particular was excellent. One of the best I have had.

Nice hotel. Clean and in an easy to get at location.

We had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before and were disappointed that this one did not have a frig or microwave in the room. Also, we stayed 2 nights and only got a newspaper 1 morning. As a Priority Club member I understood that we were to get a paper each day. The welcome Priority Club was 1 bottle of water...not one for each guest in my party of two. The facility was fine except that at breakfast there were no signature cinnamon rolls after 8:30 in spite of likley 10 people eating breakfast.

Our stay was very pleasant. We would definately stay there again. Thank you.

Convenient location, clean room, overlooked storage lockers though.... Really good breakfast.

As the title states the AC in our room was broken. Well I shouldn't say broken it just didn't work worth a darn and when we tried to get a break on the room all we got was an offer for an upgrade to a king bed with a sofa sleeper or a fan. We took the fan because the oldest daughter had a softball game and I didn't want her sleeping on a sofa sleeper and as a matter of fact I didn't want any of us sleeping on a sofa sleeper. We took the fan but you will be hard pressed to find us in this hotel again. The staff was nice they just didn't seem to want to help too bad. Probably limited by corporate and head manager on just how much help they can be. also, had to edit my review because it had inappropriate language. lol

Cedar Rapids is not exactly the Mecca of 5 star hotels and resorts but this Holiday Inn Express did the trick for a quick overnight stay. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant upon check-in, even telling us about a local 'festival' that was happening. There are some repairs being done at present but I think it was primarily painting. The hotel looks nice and fresh -- and I think the pool was just resurfaced. Yes, there was a pool! There was complimentary breakfast in the morning consisting of more substantial items than just pastries -- eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy -- and the gentleman taking care of it all was extremely helpful and quick to make sure that everything was refilled. One thing I would say about hotels.com is that we booked a room with two beds and ended up with a room with one queen and a sleeper sofa. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world but apparently when you book on this sight, it can happen. They front desk staff was extremely accommodating regardless and the room amply served its purpose. In terms of location, Cedar Rapids isn't all that large, and while our destination was on a different side of town, the easy access to the interstate proved very helpful and all of our drives were short ones. There are also several diner type restaurants and gas stations very close.

Clean, neat and comfortable even though remodeling. Had to make a change to reservation made thru a booking agent-even though Holiday Inn couldn't make the change they helped me with contact info. Only negative was evening check in was busy with only one clerk.

rooms were comfortable and nice. Breakfast had quite a variety! Place was a little noisy though, could hear things when we were in our rooms out in hall and above us

Comfortable. Staff was very attentive, from the front desk to the guy taking care of the breakfast area in the morning. They offered fruits and newspaper on arrival and the front desk looked up my Priority club membership number and completed my registration smoothly. Overall pleasant stay.

My folks and I have stayed here many times and it is always a pleasant experience. Highly recommend. Our stay started of splendidly when the clerk was able to get us into the room way early. Kids loved the pool. Breakfast was pretty good. Only complaint is that the eggs tasted like they were out there for a little too long. But, in their defense, we didn't see anyone else down there eating so I don't blame them for wasting the food. The attendant asked if we wanted fresh so that makes up for it.

Very pleasant stay at a good price. Plenty of parking.

good location on the south side of Cedar Rapids. There were plenty people heading to the game at UI. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The only issue was the train whistles we could hear from the nearby tracks.

Had an AWESOME Experience with my stay, .. My room was PERFECT as was my service... Not to mention the DELICIOUS Continental Breakfast!!! All together an EXCELLENT Experience!!! Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to ANYONE!!!!

I should have known from the moment that I walked in the door that this was not going to be a good stay. The clerk at the front desk was having an argument on the phone. I hope that it was for business, but it sounded like she was arguing with her boyfriend or husband. I and three other people stood in line for over ten minutes while the phone escapades continued. Whether it was business or a personal call, she should not have conducted herself so unprofessionally with guests waiting on her. Next I go up to my room. The person that I share the elevator with jokes, "Are you sure you want to take this elevator? It broke down yesterday with seven of us stuck in it." This probably explained why most of her very large party took the stairs all night. Those stairs are located right outside of the executive suite I was staying in. If the banging door (and it did bang) didn't wake me up, the air conditioner or the fridge with a missing foot that made it off balance shaking did. The air conditioner sounded like an airplane taking off every time it started, and it was over 100 degrees out, so it ran a lot. The fridge shimmied and shook and made knocking noises. At four-thirty, after waking up at least twice every hour, I decided I wasn't going to be able to sleep anymore and I went to take a shower. The water wasn't ice cold, but it wasn't anything resembling warm. I even let it run for five minutes, but it stayed chilly. I hopped in the shower and tried to hurry, but I never shower quickly when I'm exhausted. As I was finishing rinsing, the water went from cold to scald-your-skin-off hot. Other grievances were that the hotel listed having premium channels and HBO on this site for my room, but my room didn't when I got there. My TV had a black dot right in the middle where someone must have knocked it around, and the pixels there were out. It was very distracting. But this isn't even the worst part. Apparently the clerk that checked me in didn't see that I had booked with
