Hotel Carlisle & Embers Convention Center - קרלייל

Second year at this hotel. Room was nice but had some issues. Air conditioner had problems and worked half the time. Shower head and faucet in bath tub ran at the same time and was barely fastened to the wall.

the room was filthy. the window was nailed closed. the room and the entire building smelled musty. the toilet seat was broken. the shower head was full of scum. the blanket on the bed had holes in it as if it had been cut with a knife. the tv remote would not work properly. the room was not vacuumed before we used it, and it wasn't vacuumed during our stay.We go to Carlisle once a year. this was the third time we stayed here - and only because there were no other hotel rooms available for the car show. Each year the hotel's conditions decreased - and the conditions were not great to start with. This year the fridge and microwave were even an extra charge - our first two stays, those items were included. we had hoped the conditions were going to improve, but they did not. this room was not worth the amount paid for the three night stay. we will not stay there again even if it means missing the car show.

THE POOL WAS SO DIRTY AND DISCUSTING, HOT TUBE WAS SO DIRTY, LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NEVER BEEN CLEANED, SMELLS LIKE AN OLD CLOSET, THIS PLACE WAS HARD TO FIND, EVERYTHING IS DARK NO LIGHTS WORK OUTSIDE OF PROPERTY. THIS PLACE HAS A GIFT SHOP, AND A STEAK HOUSE BUT WERE NEVER OPENED, I ASKED FRONT DESK IF THE STEAK HOUSE WAS GOOD, THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER ATE THERE......LOL THAT TELLS YOU ALOT........THE $$ WE PAID WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE NEXT TIME I RATHER STAY AT A TRUCKERS REST AREA

the hot tub wouldn't bubble, swimming pool only filled halfway, clock needed a battery, ice machine was broken, tub wouldn't plug up to use bathtub, no remote control for tv, bed was too hard, pillows were too flat.I had stayed there years before which was better but I can tell upkeep is going downhill.

The hotel is very old and very run down. The pool area had dead plants and there were cracks in the pools. The pool towels were brown and dingy looking. The sheets were dingy and had holes in them. The shower was dirty and old looking. I was not very impressed at all. I will never stay there again. Unless they do a total remodel.

Although the hotel website says rooms are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. Toilet in my room was broken, water keeps running, have to leave the lid open and shut off water every time I use it.

the hotel could be as good as it once was but seems to be falling into neglect. The hallways were poorly lit and very cold . The room was supposed to be smoking but no ashtray was present the tv was blurry and several years too old and no remote. Over all i would not recommend anyone staying here especially for the price they charge there was not a coffee maker in the room and no continental breakfast just a shabby hotel all around.

With out a doubt the worst hotel say every the 1 should be -1 they should not be in business nor should hotels.com book for them

My son, two grandchildren and my 90 yr old mother were put into rooms without water. We were not told in advance, found out after settling in following a 9 hr drive. We were lead to believe the problem would be resolved overnight but that was not the case. The next morning we found it would be another 4 days, the end of our reservation. Then we found that there were other rooms available that had running water so our rooms were changed. The water pressure was poor but because we booked on line we stayed where we were. I would not ever stay here again especially when there are so many other options on the same street.

You know those hotels that have that slightly tired, slightly mildew-y smell? This is one of them. It is a rambling, long-hallway affair and the whole place just seems a little run-down. In fact, everything was perfectly clean: crisp sheets, very hot water, comfortable bed, excellent room heater. But the hallways and public spaces need new carpeting, better lighting, and a coat of lighter colored paint. The fact that the bar and the restaurant were inexplicably closed when I arrived at 10 PM, and were not open at all in the morning either, made me feel like I'd stepped into a half-operating establishment. The front desk staff said that the food service closes early if there are no customers, but both the bar and restaurant had the feel of not having been open for awhile. I guess when they get a convention in and have the rooms full, the place is different, but I felt like the only guest in the entire hotel.

Really too bad - hotel could be nice-convenient to everthing- but needs updated to todays standards badly.

There were not enough outlets in the room and we could not get the internet access to work.

The tissue box was empty, and when I asked for a box of tissues I was told that there was none because they were waiting on a shipment. The hall smelled when I walked in. The linens were old and worn. Cups were placed on a sticky tray.

Room was clean. We stayed for 3 nights and each day when we returned the room was satisfactory. The soap and toilet paper could be improved. Tissues in the tissue holder would be appreciated. We will stay again next October. 2013.

The hotel was conveniently located for access to the Carlisle fairgrounds and restaurants. The check-in was significantly delayed due to the fact that only one person was at the desk to handle incoming calls, the check-in of guests and answer questions of guests. Despite having written confirmations the clerk had to look manually through a three inch notebook filled with numerous pages to find my reservations. The clerk did good job given the lack of help and the check in system the hotel used. When I arrived in my room one of the two beds was unmade. I went to the front desk and after another extensive wait was assigned another room. The second room was clean and had clean linens and towels. On the morning of our second day there was no hot water for all the rooms in the section of the hotel were we were staying, therefore no shower. Since you took the time to ask I thought you would like to know. I realize things can happen. However,a second person and extra available staff for a hotel as large as the Hotel Carlisle is inexcusable.

We have stayed here in the past but this will be our last! Stayed three nights and two mornings didn't have hot water. Food was awful - never again!!

We had no hot water on the 2 mornings that we stayed at the hotel (Oct. 6 & 7/12). We were in Carlisle for the fall car show. On Sat. when I called the desk I was told they had run out of water and to wait an hour. When I called back in one hour, the story had changed to they had a water main that broke. On Sunday, they told me that they thought it had been repaired but in fact it had not. I was told that the hot water issue was just in the main building, so I asked them to provide me with a room in one of their other buildings so that I could take a shower as I had a 7 hour drive home. The Desk Rep told me she would call back, but she never did. There were a number of other issues - no internet in room, steam room did not work, the hot tub was dirty and even had black scum on the top of the foam, pool was dirty, our bathtub looked like the bottom of it had been painted and I am sure the room was never vacuumed before we arrived. I will not even get into the topic of customer service. I have contacted Carlisle Tourism and trying to reach a health department as this hotel should be closed down. I wanted to leave after we got there, but they would not refund us our money and the 4 other hotels we checked had no vacancies due to the car show and a soccer tournament in the area.

We booked hotel carlisle ,because we had made a mistake on the week of the fall Carlilse Swap Meet . Although the location was convenient for traveling back and forth to the fair grounds,The WiFi didn't work ,the hot water was hot than cold than hot , the room and adjacent hallways looked worn and unmaintained . No continental breakfast . Did have a decent bar which we tryed out a few times . plenty of parking

the buffet was over priced the food was poor if you want ice it is $2.00 for a small bucket ,the bed had hair in it & the one wall had hair stuck on it.

This Hotel leads you to believe they are 'business friendly' as the inclusion of 'Convention Center' in their name.Not true! Three days the internet only worked in my room for 1.5 hours. Many times I tried to connect there was no connection. Called front desk and offers to 'reset the modem' .Obviously the staff field regular internet complaints. Walked my iPad up and down my hall and no internet connection found. Went to lobby and connection was quickly achieved. Their sign boasts 'Free Wireless'. I asked if they had a business center. I found three very old computers and nothing else. Only one was turned on so I tried to use it. It was very slow and so loaded with security and blocking software it was almost useless. I created a small Word file and went to print it however there was no printer in the room. I checked with the front desk and was informed they used to have a printer there but they had not had one for quite a while. I did get my document printed by emailing the front desk and having them print it. Compared to the hotels(20+) I have stayed in in the past 12 months this is very poor business service. The room seemed clean however in bright sun the light revealed multiple spider webs along the drawer. My TV remote batterycover was electrical tape which allowed the batteries to lose contact and also provided a sticky surface for gems. Hotel is sliding fast many newer and better choices in the area.

room was very unsanitary and mouldy. bathroom was old and not clean. it was a nice hotel 5 yrs ago. must have new ownership now , judging by the people who are employed there. night time check in is very difficult and very hard to get to your room. very poor lighting. hallways where filled with cob webs and green mold. this hotel should have a complete inspection by local authorities.

This hotel should not even be on Hotels.com listings. The room smelled moldy and musty, I had to keep the air conditioner on quite low just to get some fresher air. The bedspread had a burn hole in it, the mattress was dirty and the sheets didn't fit correctly, there was no hot water one morning, I didn't get housekeeping service, and the carpeting was stained. I felt uncomfortable and was worried I would get sick, or bitten. This was the most uncomfortable I have ever been in a hotel room.

Nice place to stay, clost to downtown Carlisle, Hershey,Hollywood casino, Harrisburg. Employees were great, room was comfortable, however it would have been nice to have clean sheets and vacumming at least every other day. they did make up beds every day but one during our stay which was for 5 days. the hotel could use refreashing on interior but is great for the price which was very reasonable. They could use a different cook, we were ther to celebrate 25th anniversary, had dinner at hotel on anniversary sept.5th, 2012, steak was touch and over done, i was offered something el still therese, but they was out of first two choices of mine and husbands. I was so upset, i got ill and went outside to wait for husband, found out he was still charged full price. Lounge was nice and friendly and reasonable prices, pool was very nice. I was surprised they did not offer anytghing special for anniversary, I told them on line it was on sept. 5th, Over all was nice place for us and I actually wish We were

The hotel did not provide a closing account statement. The refrigerator appeared to be molded. There was hair in the bathtub and sink. The room door was broken - did not automatically lock. The hotel was empty of customers. The hotel requires a lot of fix-up work.

old and run down. Dirty. Few guests so they didn't even open the restuarant or the lounge. Beds VERY incomfortable. Whole place smells like mold. If someone put real money into this place - it could be a 4 star resort.. But - as it is now - it should be burned to the ground.

Stay was fine, but the hotl & grounds give you the feeling of having had much better days. We were put in the back wing with one other guest. Extremely long walk to front desk and amenities, down very deserted halls. Key card access not necessary ascthey did not work.

The gentlemen at front desk was friendly, we had to go back three times to get our keys to work in our room.

It was such an enjoyable stay. Room was perfectly clean, had everything my son and I needed. The staff was Very friendly and helpful. The pool was great for my son. He loved every minute of it. The whole place had a vintage old time feel. Which I enjoy myself. The area around it had every kind of store near by as well. I will definitely be going back. I have told so many people I know about it and my overall experience was great.

The stay was ok however there was mold in the bathroom. I thought the extra charge for the use a refrigerator that was already in the room was not necessary. The hotel could use some updated decor.

This was the worst place that I ever stayed at. The A/C broke down in the middle of the night we had to change rooms. Leaks throughout the hotel caused it to have an odor. The bathrooms had blue rings around the tub the towels were grey. No security ,no phone service. It was just horrible and the staff there could care less because they already got paid.

We went on overnight to celebrate our anniversary hotel was nice only thing was hotel bar closed really early and hot tub was not working do to high chemical

I loved the hotel but the front desk gave poor customer sevice. We needed more towels so we called the front desk over 10 times and there was NO response. We called a few times at night and again in the morning. Besides that the hotel was great.

This hotel is definitely dated, but the rooms were clean and suited our needs. There is a musty smell, but I wouldn't even call it unpleasant. The pool and hot tub were in working order and a great bonus.

This hotel was dirt cheap for a reason. It's basically a trucker hotel right off the highway surrounded by gas stations and greasy spoons. The hallways smelled like cigarettes and air freshener. The staff was friendly enough but very slow. The ice machine did not work and the window didn't open (by design). On the up side, the room was clean and spacious and there was free wifi. And again, it was dirt cheap. In the end, it gave us what we needed for the night: A bed to sleep on for not a lot of money.

I booked two rooms and about all I can that is positive is that there were no bed bugs. The rooms were larger than many hotels but were very dark. Both rooms had a burned out bulb. The air conditioner worked but was very noisy. The first room we entered had not been cleaned. The replacement room had been cleaned but one of the beds had the sheets pulled down. The third room had been cleaned but hair came up out of the slow shower drain. The hotel looked like it used to be nice but had fallen on hard times. I only booked at a "non-chain" hotel because it had three stars with AAA and Hotels,com I will not make that mistake again!

Hotel needs major updating...could be a great place to stay

The hotel itself is very nice but the room was lacking. First, the refrigerator was not at all cold. The toiletries that were supposed to be present consisted of a couple packets of shampoo and a few mini bars of cheap soap. Toilet wouldn't flush, shower walls were dirty, there was garbage under the sink that had not been picked up previously, and no tissues although there were two holders for them. One of the tissue holders was impressively wrapped in tinfoil for a makeshift cover, I guess???? The previous guests' hotel paperwork was still in drawers. The premium channels advertised was a joke with only being able to view a handful. The $ 22 buffet was a little pricey especially with a line up of meatballs, sausage, and other items that didn't make a good impression....would have liked to see some steak since it's supposed to be a steakhouse...I will not stay again next year when we visit.

A great room at a great price. They made sure we were comfortable. They even gave us a first floor room since my mom was with us and she uses a walker.
