Hotel still under renovation, but very clean and quiet. Rooms are large and have been upgraded. Breakfast was adequate, coffee very good.

Hitels.com price was not correct, I had to pay more

I could still smell a faint smell of paint in our room from a recent remodel. Everything seemed new. The indoor pool looked inviting, but I didn't see it until on my way out. I felt this hotel provided a really great value.

I think the hotel staff was wonderful and friendly. The renovations being done on the hotel are distracting from a good first impression. The hotel rooms and hallways and pool/spa areas were clean though. The hotel is a little outdated in it's decor and aesthetics but we had a pleasant stay. There wasn't much to do in that immediate area and the area around the hotel is sort of run-down but if your traveling through on Hwy 101 it isn't a bad choice for an affordable stay. The indoor pool was a bonus and our kids enjoyed it.

I made the reservation online and didnt realize that I left it as 1 occupant (usually this doesn't matter much?) but upon check in they saw that I was with my boyfriend, asked if he was staying and charged me $10 extra per night. I'm paying for a king suite! Why should I pay an extra fee per person unless I'm cramming in 10 people or something! Also the fold out bed/couch was broken, with a sign asking us not to use the bed. We also got a call about 15 mins before check out asking us if we are still planning to check out. This made us stress out that if we were even remotely late that they'd charge us. Other than that people were nice, there was a lot of construction going on but it wasn't noisy in our room. The location is a few miles from the town center, so not the best location. But we were looking for a more affordable hotel so it was ok for us.

the hotel was okay it served its purpose as a cheap 1 nighter. I don't feel it was right that they charged me extra for my 2 kids because when I booked the hotel on hotels.com it specifically says 2 adults 2 kids they charged me an extra 10 bucks per kid.

My stay here was okay. I travel a lot and stay in many different levels of hotels. I believe I had higher expectations for the price. There was a remodel going on and I believe it would have been appropriate to have been notified before I made my reservation. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I feel the rooms were over priced especially since there was construction going on. The location of the hotel was very convenient as I was able to visit friends in Humboldt and go to the State Parks just a little north. In conclusion, I don't believe I would stay here again. There are many hotel options and my bet is there is a better value around.

The surrpounding area were a few other budget motels, fast food restaurants and a strip mall. The access road was not the best of conditions, parked tractor trailers were lining the road making it difficult to see when entering and leaving places. They did try to present the hotel decently but there were hairs in the bath tub, some where stuck to the glue of the anti-slip mat on the tub floor, the closure for the tub drain did not work properly and there was no guide for TV channel selections and the TV did not operate like other standard hotel TV's. The free wireless access also did not work correctly. When trying to access standard websites errors would be displayed and I ended up using my mobile phone for a modem and chewed through a chunck of my monthly data plan. This is a budget motel and they showed it.

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly but the room showed too much wear. This place wasn't bad for the price but it is over due for an update.

Hotel is outside of town in commercial area. Ok for overnight, many other choices closer to attractions. Desk not very professional. Went mcd's for breakfast.

Clean, comfortable, not noisy and located in a decent area. No complaints.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean hotel with nice amenities. Pool area needs some work but mostly cosmetic problems. We will stay there again. We drove by the other places we considered....I am glad I picked hojos.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well cared for. A great stay all around.

I have never had such terrible customer service! They insisted they had to charge us for a rollaway bed that I was told when making the reservation that the price included it since the room was listed as sleeping 5. When I asked to talk to the manager she insisted it has nothing to do with them and hotels.com is the problem and they have no relationship with them, this hotel is in business to make money and it's not her problem that our stay in there left us feeling very upset and vunhappy. She also said she didn't care that I would tell everyone I knew not to stay at a Howard Johnson's esp that one.

Overall, a great experience. Clean and tidy. TV channels were less than exciting. But everything else was what we were expecting. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel manager noticed the ages of the kids and accommodated us before we even knew about it! When we arrived, he informed us his concern and the room was PERFECT! Plenty of 1 yr old 'walking practice' space and very clean. No issues, no complaints!

Very reasonable price for a convenient location, modest but quiet, comfortable and clean room. The hotel staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. The complementary breakfast was nice and kept well-stocked with the usual goodies. There is a reasonable selection of restaurants within walking distance as well as a grocery story, gas stations and a few other simple services nearby for all your 'on the road' needs.

I was very pleased with this hotel and the staff. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Also the rate was very reasonable. The room was large, new flat screen TV, recently remodeled bathroom. Breakfast was adequate, although the eating area is small.

We stayed over night here while on vacation in California. The room was very nice and comfortable. Everyone we talked to at the front desk was very helpful.

the description and pictures did not quite tell the real story of this place. it was outdated and partially clean. I will not stay there again.

We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was close to several restaurants that we could walk to.

I usually stay in the Quality Inn just down the road from this hotel, but I was with a large group and this one had a better rate. No I see why....the plumbing was bad, the toilet never flushed completely, the water in the shower and sink ran out brown and the room just looked run down. My students didn't even want to brush their teeth with the water so we used bottled water.

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights so we could go to the Humboldt State open day on 4/13/12. When we arrived the night manager told us one room was in the back and one up the hall at the street side of the hotel. I told him the second room was for our underage daughter and he moved her to a closer room. She was still 3 rooms away but it was much better and I appreciated it. The breakfast room was really small, but aside from that the whole thing was good and we all slept well, so that is really the most important thing. I would stay there again.

Upon arrival my employees trying to check in after a 7 hour drive had to deal with a disgruntled hotel manager.. He said without the credit card that was used to book the rooms he was not going to let them in. He told them that it was posted online that you need that same card number... I booked the 4 rooms over the phone. He then told them he could have them sleep outside or deny access altogether. He was lucky I was not present!

Hotel was comfortable. Breakfast was nice but the small room to eat made it difficult, along with the signs to not take waffles to your room. We disobeyed and did it any way since we didn't want to eat standing up.
