Howard Johnson Aurora - אורורה

We were not able to contact front desk with the couple problems we had. When there was a problem with our credit card they called us however when we tried to call over constant yellow hot water and could not reach to get a second pillow no dial tone no phone service what so ever. Next time we stay in Aurora we will stay at another hotel even being further away from our destination.

The staff are welcoming, respectful and helpful. Allison, thanks for all your help. The caretaker (I wish I knew your name), thanks for appearing within 5 minutes each time I made a request to the office. You guys made me feel I was at home. Great location too. I found out I was actually able to walk to my destination on Yonge St and Wellington. Better still, the bus stop is right in front of hotel to take me back to Union Station. Just one last thing, the delicious breakfast made my experience unforgettable!

We found the furnishings to be badly scuffed up and in poor condition. At $124 per night i expected a lot better quality in the rooms and the decor. The beds were not at all comfortable. The room and the hotel were clean. I would not recommend this hotel, at this rate we expected more.

Hotel is badly in need of renovations, looks like nothing has ever been updated. Bathroom full of water damage. The price is outrageous for what this hotel offers. The only reason we booked he is because its the only local option.

I had to be in Aurora on short notice for a family event (funeral). This is about the only hotel in town and it seemed to be nearly empty on a Mon-Tues stay. Understaffed (no one at the front desk when I needed to have my key reauthorized; the sole worker came back in 10 mins after running an errand for a guest on an upper floor). But the room was clean and comfortable, wireless Internet was free and responsive, and price was right.

With sub zero-temperature, windows cracked, no heating in most area of the hotel, you are better off staying in a freezer.

There was no heat in most part of the building. Window seals were all leaky. Here is the actual words from one of the guest... "You know ,it is terrible with the hotel, there is serious leakage of cold air from outside due to window cracking , the room is so cold and there are not enough heat. We checked many rooms with similar conditions until we found one better. We have no way to move out as Howard Johnson is the only hotel there in the city of Aurora !"

I will never be staying again. This was the 3rd time staying and it just keeps getting worse. The place needs an UPDATE. Cigarette butts in the stairwell. Swipe cards never work. The only thing I can give praise for is the Gentleman at the front desk. Do they think that anyone would want to stay for Breakfast???

To stay in a hotel, I only ask for two things other than location close to destination, a comforable bed and a pair of clean pillows as they are pretty close to your body and senses for the next 8 hours. Clean pillows refers to fresh pillows, not clean pillow cases. The pillows are overly used for a looong time in the room. The mattress is like the one that was offered in the dorm, hard and smelly. No complimentary breakfast on Sat and Sun,even it was confirmed in the booking breakfast included. The staff is polite and courteous. The washroom is reasonably clean. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There are many choices with better offering for the same price in the neighborhood.

A nice hotel way, way, way past its prime. Suffering signs of neglect and indifference. As it is the only hotel in this community of 50000+, it suffers from a lack of competition. Horribly understaffed, and underserved by the ones that remain. Needlessly expensive for the quality delivered. .All in all ... a disappointment.

I choose this hotel because it was very close to where I was working. The hotel is a little dated but reasonably clean and comfortable.

The lobby looked OK but the rooms, hallways and restaurant were not impressive. Carpets were dirty in the rooms and in the hallways. Beds reminded me of summer camp (hard), TV,s old. The staff all one of them were very plesent just not enough to make p for the shabby run down hotel. On Sunday no one had hot water, it was restored as we were checking out. Wish we would have stayed down the road at another hotel. No more Ho-Jo for us.

This hotel has had some rooms refurbished, however the halls and room smelled of smoke despite being a non smoking. Beds were old and poor support. Breakfast area poorly lit and dingy with same old musty smoke odour. Badly needs an upgrade.

This hotel is older but it is neat and clean. Lots of parking and lots of places close by to get food at. The room was large and comfortable. It was a very pleasant stay.

Check in was easy. We knew that we would be arriving in the morning and that check in wasnt until 3pm. So I called the day before (more than 24 hours notice) and asked if the room could be ready when we were due to arrive. They said that it would be ready and it was. Off to a good start. Got to the room, room was booked for 2 adults, yet, there was only one set of towels in the room!!! When we went out for lunch, we stopped at the front desk and requested more towels and they delivered 2 bath towels within 15 minutes. Ok.. I can live with that. The bed however was atrocious. There were 2 pillows on a very small sized "queen" bed The pillows were extremely soft .. no firmness what so ever. However the bed was HARD and LUMPY. Woke up both mornings with lower back aches and extreme fatigue. It was not a restful weekend. Also, the "free breakfast" is only available Monday-Friday. There is a restaurant and Lounge in the hotel, but they are no longer in use. Many amenities are no longer available. There was no refridgerator in the room(pretty much standard nowadays)

Tried to give us the incorrect room, argued that Hotel.com was to fault. Nasty receptionist, but finally looked at the reservation and provided what we paid for.

Hotel receptionist was rude - no customer services skills whatsoever. She did't even welcome us when we approached the counter. The room wasn't even ready when we checked in and took all our bags upto the room(the receptionist didn't tell us that the room is not yet ready) We had to wait 20 minutes for the room. The room that I booked through hotels.com was a king size bed and a sofa bed... when we got upto the room it was a queen size bed with a ripped apart sofa....the receptionist said there was nothing that she could do.... There was no breakfast available on sundays at this hotel!! NEVER AGAIN will I book with howard johnson.... EVER!!. Thanks for ruining the weekend HOJO

Room was clean, ready when we arrived, and the front desk staff, both at check-in and check-out, were excellent. Friendly and courteous! Room was nice, with all the necessities. Beds are a bit firm, and pillows a bit soft, but hotel was quiet, even though it was almost fully booked.

This was ounce an above average hotel. The building and interior sadly needs a facelift, but the rooms are in very good care, hense the price is a LOT more reasonable than other hotels in the area. If you need a comfortable clean place to stay It's a very good deal.

worst check-in experience of my life. Finally got the wrong room with the wrong bed(s) at 5:00 pm. I phoned early afternoon to confirm my accomodations and was then told I took more than an hour to get there so they gave my reserved and prepaid for rooms to someone else. Absurd. there was a lobby full of people without rooms.

Checked in and went to go into the room but the door was open a little so we knocked and there was already a family in the room. Went to see what happened and they took a long time to straighten it out. Then we went to the new room and when we got into the room there was 2 beds in the room that were different heights. The 1 mattress and box spring had a big stain down the side of it. We were leary about sleeping in the beds. Overall for a town and hotel chain like this i was expecting alot more.

The chef Makes you eggs for you fresh!

I have spent one night at Howard Johnson Toronto Aurora (Jan. 26th, 2012). My experience there was nothing less than excellent. The room was wonderful, and the staff was very helpful.

They looked after us very well even after the mix up in the room bookings.........we booked a King room non-smoking and hotel.com had us in Queen room.... the management changed the booking for us and found us a King room....we were very pleased.

Met the requirements for the evening (New Year's). Close to destination. Basically what was expected. Would be nice if there were actual glasses in the room.

Terrible staff! Rude and unprofessional. The lobby was filled with smoke from the wedding guests smoking at the front of the building. Hotel was dated and old. Lamp shades were stained and the shower was mouldy. The shower head was also broken and soaked the floor. The keys were also not working which prevented all the guests from getting into their rooms. Overall, bad hotel exprecience.

It was a satisfactory hotel for my short stay. I would stay there again

Was the worst experience I have ever had. When I had problems with my stay the GM did nor respond tomy concerns. I would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone

Comfortable hotel for the price. The complimentary hot breakfast through the week was excellent. The attending chef was very pleasant and especially with my teenagers. I would recommend this hotel for anyone checking out Seneca College or visiting their child at school.

Enjoyed the breakfast variety. Pillows were lumpy, but beds comfy and linens nice. Rooms spacious and very comfortable.

We arrived 20 minutes before the complimentary warm breakfast was suppose toi end ony to find the chef decided to leave early. NOT IMPRESSED! They wouldn't even let my two year old have some dry cereal for car ride!

When I was checking in, there was problems with the computer at front desk. Waited for 10 minutes approx as computer was not recognizing the reserved room - after 10 minutes it was fine. My room was VERY UNCLEAN. There was green feathers scattered all over the desk and chair. Dirty soap bar was left in the bathroom and there was hair all over the sink in the bathroom. It was disgusting - I cleaned the feathers and the sink out myself. Also the heater in the room didn't work and I was cold. The employees were very courteous and friendly.

OK place to flop for a night. An older hotel in need of upgrades. Staff friendly and courteous. Restaurant on weekends.

Staff members were nice. The continental breakfast was nice. The beds were hard. The free wifi did not work in our room, so my husband had to reschedule some work he had thought that he could take care of while we were traveling. Lots of restaurants in the area.
