Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa - הונולולו

Not only did we find the hotel first rate but its' location made it easy to get around without having to drive. Most everything we wanted to see or visit was within walking distance. We had a very enjoyable stay and will be sure to recommend it to our friends and family.

This hotel rates as one of the best in Waikiki, quaint, classy and the most central location of any hotel on the beach. We had a Banyan room with a beach view and birds chirping. Total relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel to travelers.

I have stayed at many hotel in Waikiki as I travel there for business regularlly. I have to say the Westin Moana Surfrider is by far one of the nicest and I highly recommend it! The building is absolutely beautiful as is the enormous Banyon tree in the courtyard. One of the best thing is the fabulous Honolulu Coffee Co is onsight for the best coffee, lattes and waffles, acai bowls ever! The hotels service was excellent, we had a beautiful upgraded room in the tower that appeared to be newly remodeled with a high end Toto bidet and ocenn view upgrade, and a patio at no extra charge! I only wish I was there 10 days and I could have stayed longer and taken some real time off! I will definately try to always stay here!

This hotel is all about location, location, location. Rooms are nice, but very small. The rooms in the historical part of the building (not the new towers) are like Manhattan sized rooms. Given the size, we were a bit annoyed that the room cleaning was minimal and that turn down service was only done on demand. It's a tight squeeze on the rest of the property, too. Don't expect an expansive pool with a swim-up bar or anything like that. Given the price, you'd be better off staying at the Sheraton two hotels down instead.

We loved staying here mainly because the location is perfect right on the water, the rocking chairs out front were so relaxing, and the beds were super comfy. The downsides were the tiny little rooms. There is no room for anything. The street side rooms were crazy loud so we talked them into moving us to the courtyard. We would've had a horrible stay otherwise due to the loud street performers. We loved the resort nature of this hotel. Can't beat the location.

We had a wonderfully pleasant stay at this classical hotel. We had heard it was one of the first hotels build at the turn of the 20th century, and by the looks of the hotel, it is classically contemporary. The staff was second to none in providing top notch service at every level. The only negative I could say is at night, we could hear street performers on the street level from our room. They should just try to put a stop to that because it could get loud a times, but that is more the neighboring area.....

The common rooms are beautiful and once you get away from the street, it's a relaxing oasis. Nice room. Decent ocean view even though we only paid the city view rate. But ... It's sold as an icon of historic Waikiki and delivers a pretty corporate experience.

The room was small with no view. Waikiki is full of homeless, they are sleeping on the beach in front of the hotel (till 11.00am)

Great Historic Hotel

Moana Surfrider was a great hotel to stay in.... hotel.com was able to get us a good deal... waikiki is great except for the actually beach itself. if you stay in waikiki, do yourself a favor and GET OUT during the day... rent a car, go to the east side, or north shore... there is A LOT to do on Oahu... go explore and enjoy... Waikiki Beach is actually one of the worst beaches on the island, but it's where everything is so it's the best place to stay

My husband and I stayed in the older section of the hotel. While the hotel was gorgeous, the room left a lot to be desired. The room was large enough to fit a king-size bed and that was about it. The bathroom was updated. However, it was so small two people could not fit in it at the same time. For the price, I think I would have gone elsewhere. The hotel service was awesome.

We had a great stay, loved the ocean view, and loved the location right next to Duke's.

The hotel is a Grand Old Lady in great condition. It is located in the middle of everything on Waikiki Beach.

Not happy to be charged $30 for a "resort fee" which included "free wifi" two glasses of wine and a "free picture". We did not use any of these items and there was nothing free about it.

Excellent location, friendly staff, and lovely rooms

The best 2 weeks of my life!

This is not our first stay at the Moana Surfrider, so we know the place well. If you are looking for a hotel with historical significance, perfect location, and a reasonable rate (for oceanfront Waikiki). This is the ticket. Rooms are very modern and very comfortable, staff very nice and helpful. We had stayed at the adjoining Royal Hawaiian before, but that facility changed a lot of things (no more breakfast Buffett, reconfigured lobby, raised prices $200 per night), so Moana Surfrider a better option now. Outstanding.

Had a great time at the Moana, Kristine at beach club was very helpful, gave an excellent customer service and took great care of us. Thanks. :-)

Hands down the best resort in Waikiki. Best location on the beach. Everything is very clean and up to date. Absolutly loved this place. Will stay here everytime I come to Waikiki. Location is right across the street from shopping and resturants as well!

The hotel is beautiful!!!! I love the open lobby and the back courtyard and beach area is amazing. I can't say enough good things about the employees and their service too! However, my friend and I were traveling together and for the first two nights we were put in a historic room with a kind size bed. It was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen! Opening the front door touched the edge of the bed, and that's the extent of space surrounding the bed. I think if you want to keep the room historic size you need to keep smaller furniture since it was hard to walk around. Then they moved us to a double bed room after two nights, but it was right over the top of the valet facing the noisy street. That street is so noisy at night with crowds and street performers, and then starting around 4:30 am we could hear valet talking and wheeling luggage racks. It didn't seem like the windows were sound proof at all. We kept thinking "are the windows open?" because it was so loud. I think its crazy you can stay in Manhattan and not hear a sound but here they obviously haven't sound proofed the front windows. Needless to say I didn't get very much restful sleep on my supposed to be relaxing vacation :( Everything else was great except for the comfort of the room.

What can I say. Great old charm hotel. Great Service. However, after booking with Hotels.com and prepaying your stay, you are then hit with a daily resort fee for many services that you will not use. The pool is small and dated. There are not enough sun longes around the pool, so you are forced to sit on the beach sand area within hotel grounds, where the hotel charges a large sum of money per day to rent you an umbrella and 2 sun lounges. It made me livid and spoilt my stay to the point where i complained to management and they waived the charges. Would I stay there again? Only if they remove this ridiculous beach umbrella rental charge or provided an adequate number of sun longes around the pool area to accommodate sufficient guests.

Right on the beach in Waikiki. Nice hotel. Great architecture. Rooms were nice, but nothing special. Restaurants (both of them) in the hotel were way overpriced (even for Waikiki), had horrible service and very mediocre to poor food.

This hotel is situated within the busiest section of Waikiki. If you are just staying in Waikiki, there is no need to rent a car as there are numerous shops around the hotel and you can take the trolley to get to Ala Moana mall. The hotel is fabulous until you get to the rooms. So first, I will critique the lobby - spacious and open, light and breezy, plantation style. It is a beautiful hotel which is a factor in our selection. However, the rooms are small.Also, some improvement on housekeeping - I found nuts when I opened the drawer where the outlets are and one of the towels have a permanent stain on them. I do like that the rooms have robes and slippers. The front desk was difficult to get a hold of. When you call, they will call you back and there is always a line. They need more than 3 clerks. The only restaurant we went to was the Beach Bar. I had Loco Moco - it was OK,my husband had a salad and he liked it. We were very satisfied with our drinks. Our attendant was also very efficient. My daughter dropped a fork and he replaced it in a second. There is a resort fee which includes parking (at Sheraton), wi-fi, free kids meal with a paying adult, etc. If you are after location, I would recommend it. Personally, as there are numerous hotels in the area, I would most likely try others.

It was the second year in a row where we decided to stay in Waikiki. The first with another Starwood Hotel as well and it didn't disappoint that we did. I give the quality of service and location an A+. The hotel surcharge of $25 though daily which was not included in the pricing i booked 6 months earlier was a dampener though. Nevertheless i still recommend to stay in this hotel.

We recently stayed at the Moana Surfrider (Westin) and found it to be average. The name and brand is all hyped up, and we were disappointed in the service and room. We we first arrived, the hotel staff were not that keen on helping us and weren't as friendly as hotel staff in Maui (Fairmont). We waited a long time to check in, as 2 people were helping one person?? They didn't even acknowledge us waiting. I know this wasn't the Fairmont, but a certain level of service is still expected from a so called 4 to 5 star hotel'. The room was average and the bathroom needed to be renovated. The bathtub was chipped and stained, sink was small and overall cramped. Plus, the closet was inside the bathroom, which I found very strange. The location however was good and on the main street. It's in walking distance to all the restaurants, stores etc... Maybe we expected too much, but nevertheless, I would NOT recommend this hotel (especially if it's your first time to Honolulu). I would highly recommend the Sheraton Waikiki just down the street. It's more central to everything and the service there was MUCH better. We stayed there one night and really liked it!

It would of been nice to know about the $25/d hotel charge ahead of getting there. Pool area is too small for this size hotel, otherwise very nice. You should definitely get an ocean view room. There were 2 bums sleeping on the ground outside window, so don't get on ground floor either.

This is a beautiful property. It opened in 1902, and the original building is still beautiful. We stayed in the tower, the rooms were big and well kept and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The restaurant is pricey; if you want a great meal, go to Duke's which is almost adjacent to the hotel. They have great food, wonderful salad bar, and beautiful sights looking out over the ocean. Expect a wait though (have a Mai Tai at the bar)! Very family friendly.

This hotel has it all. Great food, great bar, fantastic room and the very very comfortable bed. The beach is at your door. one small down side is it is super busy 24/7. But the staff are great! Cannot wait to come back.

We stayed in the original part of the hotel and really loved it! Wanted to stay longer but the hotel was overbooked for the rest of our stay. Good location on the beach with good access to the main strip for shopping and food and walking distance to Diamond Head, yes must do the walk if you have time it takes around 3.5 hours return, very good to walk off the food! We would definitely stay again!

We stayed in an oceanfront room...and you feel like you're on a boat, that's how close you are to the ocean. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The only amenity that was lacking lacking was the bathroom in our room. It was small and the fixtures were chipped and needed to be updated, tub was slow to drain. But the service was great and you can't beat the location. We dined at the hotel for breakfast (included in the package we purchased), and the buffet was excellent! We also spent one evening at the outdoor beach bar/restaurant and had an excellent meal with live local entertainment (kids 12 and under eat free!) and watched the sun set on Waikiki. We were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel. (Also saw at 3 weddings during our stay).

Very much enjoyed the Moana Surfrider

The hotel is very nice. But given the huge cost (compared with other hotels in Waikiki) was seriously lacking in service. Staff were not very friendly and just didn't really seem to care a great deal. We had stayed at a very inexpensive hotel down the road for two weeks, then finished our holiday with 3 nights at the Moana for something special. Those 3 nights accommodation cost as much as the whole first 2 weeks. It was absolutely not worth it. Wished we'd stayed the whole time at the cheaper hotel where the service was excellent, and the hotel ammenities were just as good (in fact, a much better pool) and we still had a nice view, just not directly on the beach. I would not recommend staying at the Moana to my friends.

had a great time staying at the moana

LOVE this hotel, will only stay here. Love the deal that includes breakfast - the morning buffet is delicious and the scenery is beautiful. We didn't want to do all the touristy things, just relax. So we did not get a car, and we walked to restaurants and shops around Waikiki. The pool is a little small but who needs it when you have the Pacific steps away? With the resort fee kids eat free with a paying adult, take advantage of this by the pool! At night we got a coffee and sat out front on the rocking chairs, a few nights a really good piano player was right behind us. Their gift shop is reasonable and has really nice things. Check the schedule daily, they have yoga and other events each day. The katamaran out back as well as the water sports rental place right next door are great.

Position of hotel excellent but our room on the street side of the Diamond wing was not great particularly the air conditioning unit was very noisy.

Enjoyed the stay. Enthusiastic, helpful staff made the trip very enjoyable. Were greeted by smiles and great service at all times. Housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room impeccable. Hotel is in a central location allowing easy access to all reaches of Wakiki. Will not hesitate to come return at some point in the future.

Exercise Room needs to be improved...old equipment with rust...poor attention by staff to exercise room

This hotel is in an amazing location, is a beautiful property on the beach and has a friendly staff. Unfortunately our room was facing the street and the noise was unbearable. There was a party going on and it truly tarnished our experience. We were jet lagged and exhausted and could't sleep with all the noise. If you stay here make sure your room does not face the street and you will love it!

This is a beautiful hotel, in a great location, and with excellent beach-side ambiance. My major complaint is that the WiFi (the main element in a $25 per day resort charge) is really poor, and for anyone needing to maintain contact with work/business the situation is hopeless. VPNs drop out every time the internet connectivity is lost. Staff at reception are aware of the problem, and lots of visitors complain. But when will it be fixed??

Amazing! Beautiful hotel and location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!Great location in Waikiki. Close enough to clubs, Diamond Head etc!! Loved it!!

Stayed in a Partial Ocean View Room in the Tower building. Room was very comfortableand clean. Tea facilities were not good and there are no treats to go with your tea or coffee. Woken one morning at 7.45am as they were cleaning the room next door and doing maintenance. No apologies.
