Travelodge Salem Capitol - סיילם

The room was very clean and comfortable. The front desk clerk was helpful when I asked for a wake-up call & the location of a grocery store. I would stay at this motel again.

It was an awful experience. Rude staff; broken, burned and dirty sheets; horrible breakfast. It was "jail-type" monitored. Neighborhood is not too bad, but the hotel is the worst I have ever been. I really regret have been there. Please, never go to this place, if you do not have a place to stay, better keep in the car.

Even though I booked ahead of time through hotels.com and sent a request for the top floor weeks ahead of time I was told they didn't have any available and I had to pay another $12.00 to be up stairs. We even checked in 2 hours early to make sure we could get upstairs and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. When I asked the older desk guy about it the next day he wouldn't even look me in the eye. The room was not dirty and the bathroom was alright but the walls were paper thin. You could here the people next door cough and a constant slamming of doors till 2:45am. Then there is the train who's horn WILL wake you up from a dead sleep every hour. The mattress was uncomfortable and made a cruncy noise like it had a plastic cover on it. Turns out with the $12.00 addition we could have stayed at the Red Lion for the same price and I would have had I not booked through hotels.com and already paid my money. I've never had a bait & switch like this happen anywhere I've ever stayed and I'm 53 years old and have stayed in quite a few places. I will never stay in another Travel Lodge or recommend them. Trust me, spend the extra $10-20 and stay in a real hotel.

It served its purpose. The room was adequate and there was an barbecue restaurant with a good beer selection down the street.

not to friendly if you have kids, manager lady very rude! need to work on customer service skills, complained about my kids being kids, and asking for anything other than toilet paper is a problem, even throwing garbage in the garbage can was a problem for that manager lady that didn't even tell us her name.

I have stayed here numerous times before and really enjoy it. It is a good location, close to the mall and capitol, clean and friendly staff and except for a hole in the bathroom door, a well maintained motel.

First, I asked for a non-smoking room. I did get to keep my dogs which was great, though a little spendy. The towels were stained. The shower tiny. There was a pitiful continental breakfast and the man who seemed to run the hotel never smiled; he was not a people person. In fact, it seemed like we were putting him out.

Will do for a night stay., But: The rooms were clean, but old, uncomfortable. The place seemed a little run down. There was hardly breakfast to choose from. Pool was closed in the middle of summer

We stayed here to watch some Salem-Keizer Volcanoes baseball. We decided on Travelodge because it was cheap and had all the things we wanted: continental breakfast, pool, and a place to sleep. The pool was out of service the entire weekend (Fri-Sun), and there was no hot tub. The continental breakfast was Svenhards packaged rolls and coffee/tea/chocolate. There might have been cereal, but I can't quite remember. We wound up going out for breakfast instead. It was a rough night sleep as the hotel was close to the train tracks and it seemed like the train went by every hour, and the beds creaked like crazy! They were comfortable, but loud. The location itself was way out of the way unless you want to be close to the capitol building, which the name should have clued us in on. It's also close to the state penitentiary. We were able to find a cute little farmers market near the capitol building, but that was the biggest plus, aside from the price (when everywhere else was quite a bit more expensive or booked). The male staff at check in was unpleasant, but I had trouble with my key on one of the weekend days and the woman that helped me was nice. Next time we will pay the extra to stay closer to the field and freeway.

It was in a good location, right near the heart of the city. The room was VERY small, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. The beds were absolutely the loudest, squeakiest mattresses I have ever seen or heard in my life! Not totally uncomfortable, but if anyone moved at all, the noise woke you up. The breakfast is scarce, but there is a Starbucks and a Safeway about 4 blocks away, easily within walking distance. :) One good thing is, I don't think we ever heard anyone in the adjoining rooms, so that was nice.

The room was fine and very clean. The breakfast is very small. There was some instant oatmeal with no milk, a few small breakfast danish packages, orange juice and coffee.

Very affordable, very clean and comfortable. The room was quiet, perfect for the price and you can go out to breakfast.

I would make a return stay again, if I needed to.

This is the third time we have stayed and really enjoyed it. It is within walking distance of the Capitol and has served our purpose for a pleasant week's stay. They have a very small continental breakfast but for the price, wow!

Best kept travel lodge I have stayed in. Helpful staff and hey clean. Only negative was the hotels location.

The Travel Lodge was adequate. Very close to Willamette (walking distance). Clean. comfortable, cheap. Very small rooms, weak wi-fi. You get what you pay for. Breakfast not as advertised. No milk, no cold cereal. Packaged pastries, coffee, and OJ. The price was very good. Just know what you are buying. We would likely stay here again (if we just need a bed for very short stay).

Good location for the state buildings and university. On a busy street with a bus, so if you're a light sleeper this might not be a good option for you. Good wi-fi connection in the 2nd floor rooms and satellite TV. Room was somewhat dated and really dark, though, and bathroom shower was enclosed and dark. But nice and clean which was great. Pillows were fluffy, unlike the pancake-like pillows in some other cheap motels. If getting a nice free breakfast is an important factor in your motel decision, this is DEFINITELY not a good option. Packaged oatmeal or danish were the only options and there was a sign saying to take only one... very cheap/stingy! I'd only take one anyway, but still, to have to put a sign up is just rude. Overall, though, a good place to stay for a night or two.

This was a great bargain hotel. Very convenient to Willamette University. I was impressed with the amenities considering it is a lower cost motel. I will stay there again!

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and it was clean, comfortable, and decent. This time it was less clean, looked dingy, had stains on the sheets and pillow cases--gross. Also very dim lighting inside the room, felt seedy

Let them know BEFORE booking if good internet connection is a must for you, that way you will get a room with a strong signal. This is a nice place to stay. It seems to be family operated and they seem like good people. I left a suitcase in the room and, unfortunately, no effort was made to contact me, so I was long gone before missing the bag two days later, but at least the room service worker turned it in (for which I am indeed thankful) and they are holding it for me. I will continue to chose this Travelodge when I visit Salem.

only problem was shower didn't drain at all took shower at night water still standing in morning. coffee in room and cont. breakfast well stocked. checking in a few minutes early, no problem

The Hotel room was nice. Whenever you call for something they respond quickly. The continental breakfast was not that great. Also, the main lobby had a distinct smell when you walk in.

The Travelodge Salem Capitol is a great place to stay if you're on a budget. The location is excellent--you can walk to Willamette University and the state Capitol--and lots of other things within short driving distance. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the room was clean, large and comfortable, and those were pretty darned fluffly towels for budget travel! All in all, one of the best budget places I've stayed.

There were ants in the room. They served tea, not coffee for continental, and limited it to 1 sweet roll per person. Having said that, it is comfortable and pretty clean for the price.

This hotel is convenient to Amtrak, has an underdeveloped neiborhood, but does have a good indian restaurant, a good breakfast place (if you choose not to have the included B-fast), and a store within a block that sells scores of beers from around the country/world. The only downside I found was that it was a bit noisy in the parking lot the night I was there.

An older facility that has been pretty well maintained. We stayed here for a college visit. It was convenient to campus and affordable. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The lighting was not quite adequate--lots of individual lamps trying to light the space. The wifi did not work consistently such that it was useless.We did not get a chance to try the continental breakfast so I cannot comment on that.

The look of this motel was decent except for a stack of wood refuse outside and the swimming pool looking yucky. The staff was courteous and helpful and my dog could stay at a very reasonable rate. The walls were thin and I heard loud giggling and talking till 12:30 p:m. The bed was ok for an inexpensive place. Most of it was clean but the inner shower door was dirty and there were ants in the bathroom. The water in the bathroom was nice and hot. The breakfast was sub-par and there was no milk.

Pluses: very convenient to downtown Salem, the basics work, good hot water, clean and in a reasonable state of repair. Minuses: loud, slow, imprecise heating system, road noise from State Street, very low quality breakfast, hotel employees slow to process requests and not particularly friendly. I stayed there because it had a reasonable rate, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a reasonable inexpensive place to stay.

This is a basic motel that's clean and relatively inexpensive. Very convenient to the Capitol. Breakfast is in the lobby, and it's nothing special, but adequate. Check-in was quick, but there's not much "service."

Very clean and comfortable...close to the capital and town center.....Continential breakfast was marginal but price for room was great! Will stay there again.

It was nice. I got free wi-fi, extended cable, and a walk in shower. I couldn't hear my neighbors and even though it was packed on a holiday evening i didn't run into them either. It was a nice getaway even if they were doing some construction most of the mornings i was there.

This is more of a motel than a hotel. But, that said, the price was great and it was a good choice for us. It is within walking distance from the capitol and Willamette University. However, it would be a bit too far to walk to the downtown area. The free breakfast left something to be desired. It was cheap danishes, cheap yogurt, and some oatmeal packets. We actually skipped breakfast the second day and ate at the Word of Mouth Cafe just around the corner (across from King's Donut shop) and it was fantastic!
