the room floor boards were creaking our room and next room has well and it was quite bad, could not control temperature of room it was way to hot in room, the toilet did not flush properly had to flush three to four times and and to wait before each flush, there was no fridge in room with drinks for a four star hotel it was dated and the safe did not work,

We needed somewhere to stay quickly as the motorway had been closed. Stayed here before in the old part, however, this time the room was in the modern part, which is typical of most modern chains bedrooms and bathroom layout. The old part of the hotel has a small bar. The young man on the bar and other staff were very courteous and friendly, reception check in and out efficient and professional. The room price was very fair for the standard.

I found the room very cold and a long walk to any of the facilities, however staff were great and the location was very good

Upgraded room to suite Main room above bar area. Great room with lots of space Hotel short run from Manchester would recommend Abode for something special to eat Hotel food was good and service excellent Wil be back and will upgrade again

Rooms dated, no free wifi, food extortionate, really old fashioned bathroom furniture. No manned reception after 10pm. Telephone in room didn't work. Stay somewhere else.

The room was comfortable and clean for our stay. The bathroom was a little tired and could have done with being updated. We booked as it was near a family wedding venue so didn't get the opportunity to use the facilities.

was great apart from our noisy neighbours and when phoning reception to tell them it just repeatedly rang out!

The beautiful country side and park around.The hotel was clean and comfortable, but the staff in the restaurant was young and without experiences.WE wait for food 1 hour and we were there 6 peoples.The food was less than average but breakfast was nice.

All good apart from breakfast being expensive.

The room was very hot, no a/c. They had a known computer problem which meant althought I had requested breakfast on registration, I was not on the list in the morning. Even though this was a known problem I was treated with suspicion and made to wait whilst checks were carried out. The vegetarian menu stated baked beans were included, and the waitor comfirmed this when taking my order. No beans were provided. I did report all this on check out but no offer of compensation was made. Other guests complained about the hotel whilst I had my meals, and a mistake was made with a guests food.

Disappointed! This Hotel doesn't live up to its ratings. I love this chain of Hotels and it doesn't compare with Cardrona which we stayed at during our break!Food was reminiscent to the old Berni Inn!Hard to find the Hotel too.

the bed was very creaky

This is a very noisy hotel with lots of drunken guests and I would never stay here again.

Warm,friendly, helpful welcome; spotless & comfortable room; wonderful service everywhere! Lovely pool & leisure facilities; beautiful grounds & surroundings, well worth exploring with lots of wildlife & small lake. The breakfast is to die for & nothing too much trouble. I came across just one nuisance & that was the excessive heat in the hotel with no way of controlling it in the room. There was a small window which would only open a few inches. I was with my grandaughter & neither of us slept much that night. This is the only thing wrong there & I wouldn't have mentioned it if it had been a slight problem. The truth is, I was shattered the next day but had to keep going as I had promised her we would spend the day in Southport. I would definitely visit the hotel again if I could be certain the unbearable heat wouldn't be a problem again.

Not the best - by far.

This is a great hotel with great facilities and great staff. The hotel is off the beaten track but this is a good point in my view and it is located in a beautiful park setting with majestic trees and a lake.The view from the dining room is absolutely lovely and the food and restaurant service is exceptionally good. There is a smashing gym and pool complete with sauna and spa which was an added bonus. Overall this was a great weekend stay and we would have happily stayed a week. We got a great price through Hotels.com which turned out to be cheaper than booking the hotel direct. If you need a hotel in the Wigan area this is one well worthy of a stay.

Nice hotel, nice grounds, need transport to get there, is an old building, staff friendly

We recently booked a last minute deal here as we were visiting family in the area. The hotel is situated in a very beautiful location close to some reservoirs which were handy to stroll around after the fantastic breakfast (do try and get breakfast included as it is one of the best we've had at a hotel and it's fairly expensive to pay when you get there) I wasn't impressed with the customer service on check in as I had to ask what time breakfast was and we weren't told about there being a code to get out of the hotel grounds which lead to us having to walk back to the reception to find out! I also think that the lady could have been more welcoming after our journey. Service at breakfast however was excellent - it really couldn't have been better - the staff being very friendly, efficient and helpful at all times. The food was of a really high standard and a lot of choice. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as we fancied a walk and went to The Crown - about a ten minute walk away (well recommended) Room was quite small but had everything we needed for a comfortable and peaceful stay. I do feel that it is a little run down in places but it has a lovely feel about it and we don't like places that are too modern. We also used the spa/pool/steam room before we left which was very relaxing and enjoyable. If you can get a good deal then I would well recommend this hotel

A most enjoyable stay,breakfast was lovely,dined there one evening,food and service was first class.One minor point,would of liked to of had a late drink in the bar,but not open,undestand though,it was very quiet.

The stay was good a hiccup with booking the spa think we were misinformed via the phone prior to booking even after 2phonecalls but ehAt we had was good .

I have stayed in many hotels around the world and from the moment we arrived at the Kilhey Court we felt like royalty!From the reception staff to the cleaning staff who I might add seemed there just for us.The rooms were clean to a high standard and very comfortable.The setting and venue are just perfect.I will certainly be using the hotel again in fact this will be a priority!! Thankyou to the staff and manager,whom I think was South African so all I can say about that is South Africas' loss is Kilhey Courts gain!

The staff are excellent - cheerful and helpful. The restaurant serves very good food and wine, although the choice is limited. The room I stayed in was due for a makeover. Cracked tiles in the bathroom, chipped paint and tired decor. Desklamp u/s. The services booklet had no reference to internet or broadband (although the hotel does actually have Wi-Fi) but advises on modem connection. Does anyone still use a modem? Ancient CRT tv. No fridge. There was a "call room service for milk" note on coffee tray. If I have to call room service for milk, they might as well bring a coffee...

We found from booking in to booking out the staff were very helpful, polite and could not do enough for us, we would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again

Glad I paid a discounted rate, would have been disappointed if I'd paid full price. Drinks are expensive at £5 a go.

Had a very nice Stay desk staff where very polite and helpful,i would recommend the hotel highly. And will be defiantly stay here again. Many Thank Mr & Mrs Edmonds

The overall hotel was good, but my room could have done with some modernisation. For a non-smoking room, it smelt of smoke which is a pet hate of mine, and I found cobwebs and dirt in the room, but mostly clean. The food was nice, but on the pricey side. The leisure facilities were great though. Nice gym and a great spa area with little pool, sauna, steam room and some other aromatherapy rooms. Overall, I would stay again and recommend it to others.

Initially given key to room that was already occupied.... Heating in room uncontrollable. Took 4 requests over 2 days to replace fauly kettle. Could be lovely but hotel & staff need re-furbishment.
