Pan American Hotel - אלמהרסט

When I checked in at the Hotel the clerk asked me for my driving license as a form of identification, when I gave it to him he made a photo copy of my license without asking my permission, I asked him why he done it and he rplied it was Hotel policy. Upon checking out the next day I asked fr the copy of my license to be returned to me, the clerk flat out refused my request and was very argumentive, I asked to see the manager at which time the clerk went into the back office, he returned after a short period of time and got me to sign a piece of paper to say they had returned my license to me. I was very concerned that the hotel has this policy, it is a big security issue of mine who has access to my private information and what happens to it under the circumstances I ran into at your Hotel. I would like to know if this is a commen practice for Pan American or is this an isolated event.

The hotel is located very close to the subway, which is very helpful. However, it is located in a horrendously shabby neighbourhood. It's not a great idea to go out of the hotel after dark, as we stayed there in constant fear of mugging or attack! Luckily, the room was reasonably clean and comfortable. The facilities are minimal, with basics such as tea and coffee unavailable. Avoid the restaurant as well - the shopping centre down the road is a much better meal solution!

When I walked into the Hotel, it looks that I am in 1950, nothing has changed everything is falling apart, I had aplan to stay longer but I moved to another hotel after 1 night & they charge the room rent of a 4 star hotel

TOTALLY TERRIBLE..THE BED COVER UNCLEAN ,BATH ROOM HORRIBLE..STAY 1 NIGHT SO DISAPPOINTED......

Pros: (1) Affordable rates in Queens. (2) Subway station about 7 blocks away, (3) Shuttle service to Laguardia Airport. Cons: (1) The front desk receptionist and the concierge do not smile at all. They looked very stressed out all the time. They did not make us feel welcome. (2) The cold water control in the shower in my room didn't work properly - - either the water was scalding hot or ice cold. It was impossible to adjust.

Noise all night long from a night club in the building. Don't even try to get any sleep. Must pay extra for everything, including wi fi. Could not even get a boarding pass without a $20 fee for use of the internet.

The hotel is a 2-3 star hotel that I would rate as a 5 within that category. The hotel is located just a few blocks from the subway which makes access into the heart of NYC very easy and the subway ride is only $2.50 no matter the distance you go. The rooms were clean and roomy enough with your private bathroom and free parking (!!!) which can be very hard to find in this price point in NYC. The employees were helpful and provided directions to the subway station and recommended nearby restaurants. There was an Argentinian steakhouse a block away which had amazing skirt steak and masked potatoes. The hotel was perfect for a place to sleep and shower while visiting the city.

Acceptable

This is an older hotel and could really use some upgrading. However, the staff was great and the shuttle drivers were wonderful. The hotel is convient to LaGuarda but the neighborhood is mostly automotive related business (garages, parts dealers, etc.).

It was on a good location near the interstate & 4 blocks (10 minutes) to the subway. Decent neighborhood & it was plenty of parking (that was free :-)!) The room was actually really nice for a 3 star hotel (really the whole atmosphere). The staff was really nice & helpful also. The hotel isn't perfect but nothing but good things to say. I would definitely stay there again.

Overpriced and underserviced. They turned off the heat and the room was very cold during the night.

No coffee pot in room. Asked for a roll out bed in advance, not in room. Asked about it at front desk and was informed that the person who was in charge of bringing it up, went home at 4pm. At 11:00pm another person was coming in and could we wait. Needless to say, we could not wait, due to a early wake up.

I am happy with my stay in this hotel. It's worth with what I paid for.

hotel is a little dated but as was only using it for a shower and bed was all i really needed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. the room was on the road side and was noisy but pair of ear plugs sorted that out. wasn't to far from a subway station with easy access to manhattan bound trains. all in all i would stay there again.

The bell captains were very nice and helpful. I was on the 2nd floor and the room was very basic and I could here the dance club through the floor. I guess the rooms on higher floors are nicer. The location is good lots of stuff within walking distance. The housekeeper on the 2nd floor was amazing and treated me and my daughter like family. The Pan American is fortunate to have her. She is an amazing lady

Clean room and good room service but pretty noisy.

We especially liked the pick up from both New York airports.

There were Molds behind the curtain. Night club was so noisy. Even through I was on 3rd floor, I can hear music until 3 am. Complimentary coffee was tasted like urine. My bed was making noise every move. Room Heater was making noise all night long.

Well one thing that really bothered me was that they had no microwaves or refrigerator in the room. To charge that much and not be able to eat your food the next day was not good. I don't like hotels at all so I consider myself to be a good source to use. It's good to stay at. Loved the jacuzzi, late night and early morning gym hours. The sauna was also awesome and we had a ball in the pool. The people were very nice and helpful but we had to go find maintenance to clean our room. PS...I hated the big back TV

very nice staff, clean rooms even though they are old. i would stay again.

I found this hotel through Hotel.Com, since it was offering a discount price. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nice attitudes. The hotel is old but it's kept clean. There were problems with the HVAC therefore my room temp was up to 88 degrees during the night. management said that they were in transition with getting the AC going. The 10 minute walk thru the neighborhood to the metro line felt safe. Metro system runs really well to get you anywhere you want. Tip well, the hotel staff are good at what they do.

The staff was very helpful. The room was basic but clean. The subway is very close and the R line passes through Times Square. The neighbourhood is a mix of many cultures, which made it very interesting. There is a large shopping mall within walking distance. I felt very safe at all times. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. It represented an excellent value.

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of shopping within walking distance of the hotel. The subway was within walking distance so opened up the whole of New York.

Really, we used this just as a place to sleep while we toured Manhattan. So it's relative closeness to the subway was a bonus. No wi-fi in the room though (just in the lobby, that sucks), and the bathtub had a drip. Don't expect much, but as a cheap place to stay, it'll do.

For the amount I paid the hotel was acceptable, wasn't expecting anything too fancy. The hotel itself is old but everything was clean. The surrounding area is great though, a mix of good Asian and Latin restaurants. There is also a Chinese supermarket with cheap prices. The trains are close by and can take you to Time Square within 40 mins.

Good stay except one thing, If only it has a coffee maker.

It was as expected. Other reviews said it was clean, but with some out dated furniture and that is just what we got. Our room had a refrigerator, which was also clean. There was no musty smells. Only thing negative I can say about the place was the sheer curtains in our room, no light blocking curtains just the under curtain. It wasn't that big of a deal since we were only there for 1 night, just needed a place to crash after an evening out on the town.

Located in a sketchy neighborhood. On a main street with a bar directly across the street. Heard traffic all night and then at 4:30am heard commotion from bar. No shuttle service offered, they charge $10 pp for shuttle to airport.

We were looking to economize and this hotel was perfect. Comfortable room, good service with no frills. Subway is a 7 minute walk and manhattan is about a 15 minute ride. Perfect for our needs. We'll be back.

Reasonable good stay with reasonable price. Well lacated and house keeping staff were very friendly. Overall no complain and enjyed our staying.thanks

very good and thanks for accepting and keeping UPS delivery package before we check-in. It would have been better if a microwave had been provided.

The maid was super nice, the hotel was walking distance to the subway and major store. I was very happy with my stay.

IT JUST AWFUL... I DON'T WANT TO SAY ANYTHING....TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Over-All,everything was good. No complaints. Airport noise at times was a little loud. The lounge was a great place for a quick meal,and the staff was exellent. No doubt I would stay here again.

Front desk needed additional staff. Room ok but very old and outdated. Bathroom needs a lot of repair/updating. Missing and broken tiles, wall paper hanging off wall, month exhaust fan etc.

The hotel room looked like a cheap motel with a new tv . The fridge was OLD ! The water was brown and had to be ran for a while just to be used . I will never come back to this hotel. You have to pay for WiFi, and the microwave is in the lobby area.
