HCC Taber - ברצלונה

When I first got there, I thought I was really fortunate to have chosen this hotel. Really well located, close to Passeig de Gracia, metro and bus stations... Little did I know that that was it. I made my check in. When I got into my room, it was dirty. And by that, I mean: sheets, towels, everything... simply untouched from when the last person left the room. SO GROSS. My second room was better. But, the moment I opened the door, the cigarrete odor killed me. Since I had no time to change for the 3rd time, I decided to stay there. I woke up several times during the night with that nasty smell. Breakfast buffet costs 16,00 euros!!! My margnet card for my room stopped working twice... you name it, I had it. If you want to be well located, fine. If not, DON'T STAY THERE!

I had a couple of nights to visit Barcelona and decided to book on this based on the location, which is great, easy access to subway, buses and even aerobus which will take you to the airport for about 6 Euros. Hotel is ok, near Plaza Catalunya one of the busiest turistic points in the city. European star rating in Spain feels below US star rating starndards. This hotel is classified as a 3 star hotel but I felt it similar to a Days Inn rather than a 3 star hotel like a Hilton Garden Inn or Courtyard Mariott if you know what I mean. I couldn't make WiFi calls because skype is blocked by their server. Another thing is that the A/C in the room didin't work, just the fan, but there is no thermostat to regulate room temperature. Fortunately it wasn't so hot but in summer this can be a deal breaker. The hotel is overall quiet but I did notice that housekeeping makes too much noise in the mornings between 7 and 9 AM which was bothersome for me. I am quite easygoing but I didn't appreciate their banging and door closings all morning. Beds are rather small and not very comfortable. Check out was easy and quick but clerks didn't ask if everything was ok. If they fix all these details this could be a great hotel to stay, but right now I would say it's just ok.

Great location! On the corner of Rambla Catalunia, where there're plenty of eateries. Close to a couple tourist attractions. Front desk people were great! Breakfast is pricey. I just ate at a corner bakery. Their room service menu is very limited.

This hotel was recommended by a friend who stayed there last year, and it was a super location, we could walk to all the major sites we wanted to see (Gaudi, shopping, Picasso Museum), and we could take the metro too. The hotel is older, and not in the old charming way, but in the "hasn't been remodeled or renovated in a while" way. But it was quiet, clean, very spacious, and very affordable. There was a lot of great shopping and eating within blocks. Great if you just need a place to sleep, put your stuff, and shower.

We had our favorite location in Barcelona with this hotel. Everything was excellent, with the exception of the TV, which cold be newer. would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very reasonable and fair level of everything for the good price.

Carpet, covers, and bathroom facilities were old and poorly maintained. Staff were compliant but not friendly or overly helpful. Location was convenient and easy to get to metro and taxi. Slightly expensive for what you get.

Nice and clean hotel with internet access.Over priced Breakfeast at the hotel I ate at near by rest.

On the plus side, I lucked out with my room. It was room 802 (a single) which is a the top of the building, so it has a small terrace with a table and a chair. The view is to the West and you can see the Tibidabo and the Sagrada Familia. The location is excellent. On the minus side, the TV has few channels, most of them with news.

Very nice location; close to all attractions, very conscientious staff.... I had issues with the WiFi. They were extremely helpful

Hotel Taber is an easy walk from the underground and only two blocks from Gaudi’s famous building just of Carrer d’Aragó. This lovely little hotel had one and only problem—at least for me—and that was the noise created by a few of its other guests who opened and closed doors with a bang at all hours of the night and thought nothing of holding loud conversations in the wee hours of the morning. In partial defense of said noise makers, the door are adjusted to swing closed on their own, and they do make a big bang when they do. I guess no one thought about that when they installed them. However, if you’re lucky, none of these late-night revelers and will be your neighbors and no one will be going in and out of their rooms at all hours. If that’s the case, you will have a lovely stay, indeed. Truly, the noise is the only reason I didn't give this hotel five stars. In fact, when I mentioned the noise to the receptionists, they urged me to please call them if I encountered the problem again. Really, the receptionists couldn’t have been nicer. On my arrival, I was greeted in the shiny lobby with a welcoming smile by kind and helpful staff members. My room, although small, was clean and comfortable. I was also very happy that Internet service in the room was gratis. All I had to do was hook my laptop up with a cable, which was provided by the hotel. My room was kept very clean, and the bathroom was equipped with a hair dryer and wonderful shower. The bed was only a twin, but it was clean and fairly comfortable. The closet has about six hangers and enough storage place for your things. There are many cafes in the area, but if you have an aversion to eating meat and cheese, as I do, you’re going to have a hard time finding anything to eat. I couldn’t find any markets in the area for takeaway, but I did find a restaurant or two on La Rambla (where I could get a salad and a plate of pasta.) Just come back from having an excellent stay at the HCC Taber in Barcelona. The hotel was simple, clean and friendly. Located within easy walking distance of La Rambla and many of the favoured cultural and historical sites of interest. Decided to take one of the bus tours to ensure we captured most if not all of these sites. Getting a ticket is easy and the hotel offers a small discount for one day or two day tours. I would recommend this bus tour as an ideal opportunity to ensure you don't miss anything if this is the purpose of your stay. Not short either of restaurants to go to. We had a room at the back which did not look out over the busy road outside so was quiet even when Barcelona football fans were celebrating their European success. We decided not to stay each morning for breakfast in the hotel as plenty of cafes offering a wide selection close by. This was probably the cheaper option as well. Be prepared if coming in from the airport by taxi the fare will cost anywhere between €35 and €45. The trip only taking approx 30mins. There are alternatives like the train which we did not investigate. All in all a great extended weekend had and we would have no concerns in recommending this hotel to others looking for a simple base location from which you can explore the whole city.

Hotel excellent value for money. Situated on the main road which enables a taxi to drop you off right outside hotel entrance. Central for sight seeing and a short walk to Las Rambles. Fairly basic hotel with very small bar but spotlessly clean and well maintained throughout. The Bedroom we had was small with 2 single beds but a larger than average tiled bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Again this was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Our room had a view of a brick wall (Shaft). We were only there 1 night so this wasn't a problem. The other 2 family members in our group had a seperate room which was much larger with a good view. We stayed on room only basis and unless your stay includes breakfast, I would advise to eat out. There are many places to eat within a short walk from the hotel, especially in Las Rambles where you are spoilt for choice from coffee/pasteries to full cooked breakfast all at a resonable price. The morning you check out, the hotel has storage facilities for you to leave your lugage should you wish to do any last minute sight seeing during the day. The staff at the hotel were efficient, friendly and very helpful which makes such a difference to your stay. For what we paid, this hotel was a little gem and we would definately stay here again if we return to Barcelona.

This is a clean no frills hotel.The hotel staff was polite but not overly friendly. Great location for walking to major Gaudi sites and Las Ramblas.

Hotel bastante ubicado. Aunque no llevamos auto hay un aparcamento techado a unos cuantos pasos y muy cerca de varios restaurantes y lugares donde comer. Ibamos y veníamos a pié a varios lugares entre ellos las ramblas y el muelle. La habitación bastante confortable y amplia.
