This grand old hotel has clearly seen better days and is not receiving the care and attention to detail it deserves. I would not recommend staying again. There was a jacuzzi bath but the taps did not work. The towel rail in the bath room was loose and my towels were not replenished for clean towels despite leaving them on the bathroom door. When I came to check out there were no staff on reception at 730 am on a Sunday morning. Fortunately I had paid for everything.

I don't like to write negative reviews but this hotel seriously needs some money spent on it. Considering it is owned by a major hotel chain it is very disappointing. Has not been touched in years and is showing its old age with outdated decor, peeling, chipped paintwork and poor quality beds. Just to add to this when we went to our room and opened the door someone else was already in there getting ready to go out, fortunately for both of us the poor woman was not naked. At reception we got a vague apology as the husband of the poor lady had gone to reception as well to complain. I think the service was poor considering the shock to myself and this poor woman and then on top of that I was told that there were no more double rooms and I could either go to their sister hotel or have a twin room. This was supposed to be a romantic night away at the hotel we got married at 3 years ago and it turned into something from Fawltey Towers. I will contact the hotel owners as the paultry bottle of cheap Plonk in our room was less of an apology and more of an insult especially as my wife had to suggest that it might be nice of the hotel to do that. Until they send some money on this place I certainly won't be going back.

A large and very lively hotel on the sea front with the trams running close by. Room very comfortable and clean. TV a bit dated so no teletext but not a major problem. Wi -fi available if near reception which is useful. Very good value for money in this grand old style hotel and I would certainly stay there again.

The room was tired and dated, the television bathroom fittings must not have been changed in the past 20 years. My wife and three year old child was kept awake by the downstairs disco till 2am. If your thinking about staying at the savoy I would reconsider.

We stayed 1 night to visit family. Was rather disappointed with standard of room - very tired, damp smell, carpet not vacuumed, window cracked & handles broken, table not wiped down, mirror smeared, cigarette burn in blanket...... Staff were friendly & helpful. Tram into town right on doorstep. Could be a stunning hotel if updated.

Hotel is a little tired but rooms were clean and adequate. Breakfast was OK but cold plates first morning mean't breakfast was cold. OK next day but breakfast room could have done with being warmer. Overall good value £50 for two for two nights B&B can't complain.

unfortuately we upgraded to a superior room for our usual standard double. we wanted to complain about the room for various reasons but felt it was too much hassel and didnt want to cause a fuss. the room wasnt a double room, merely a twin with the beds pushed together! the room was smaller than our usual size, with the television being very small. we were issued a superior room (with a sea view) yet felt disappointed with the "upgrade" we had chosen as a treat. we have used the savoy many times before however will seriously consider other competitors all priced at similar rates. overall we left the hotel feeling disappointed rather than had a great night away.

The hotel looks grand from the outside, offers parking and has friendly staff on the reception. The room, however, was very disappointing. On arrival the double room that was booked for 2 guests was set up for only one. The room was unclean; the carpet was stained, the tea / coffee facilities were covered in dust, the walls felt damp and the wallpaper was coming away from the walls. I complained and was immediately offered another room. This room was slightly better; the carpet was not stained, however the surfaces (including the tea making facilities) were dusty. There was no hot water in the evening. Overall we did not enjoy our stay and we won't stay in this hotel again.

very disappointed! although the decor is tired and needs a spruce up there is NO excuse for a dirty room or luke warm water in the bathroom. Water was dripping from the room above through the light fitting! the toilet had been used and not flushed....the list goes on!

more for the older guests staff nice but no information given ie breakfast time until we asked, but good when we asked for a fan got one but room not cleaned until 2nd night

Luckily only staying one night for a family party. The room would have been ok if it hadn't been like being in an ice box. Admitably it was blowing a gale and sub zero outside but windows without gaps in the putty or even better double glazing would have kept it outside. Room clean but they hadn't bothered to empty the bin in the room or bathroom. Only glad we didn't pay full price for the room, won't be stopping again.

The price of this hotel was the main reason for staying here. I didn't expect much and it was exactly was I expected. Once one of Blackpool finest, now a sad and tired hotel. Dated rooms and public areas, guests of a certain age and breakfast from the value range. I can't complain about the price and if I wanted style and excellent food then I would have to have paid more for it - I choose not to. I just needed a bed to sleep in. "life on mars".

excellent breakfast and quality of service,love the victorian building its ashame its not all up to scratch,really good value for the time of the year.

A former glory,very pleasant staff very accommodating .Breakfast was good good choice of items on offer.Bar food too .Old world feel to the place ,nice and warm ,bed was comfy enough ,not a spot for youngsters .Tram and bus stops just outside the front door into Blackpool centre. Bar offers were good ,entertainment in the evening if that's your thing.Overall good value for money.

Everything was in top order, sea view and jacuzzi bath, food excellent so could not ask for more.

Lovely sea-view room, twin with jacuzzi bath. room very warm heating on all the time, all for very good price. Very satisfied with hotel and location, bus and tram stop out side of hotel.

We found our stay very enjoyable and the food was of a high quality.

Could be a lovely hotel if had a make over

The hotel is a large, rather grand-looking Victorian pile which is centrally located on the Queens Promenade right on the sea-front. Tram stop just across from the hotel and just 3 or 4 stops to the centre.The main function rooms including the ballroom are rather grand but have seen better days. They are now a little jaded and grubby and need a good clean. Most of the common areas including the dining room are carpeted but this too is jaded and dirty in places. My room on the fourth floor (lift which takes 3 people only) goes only as far as third floor. My single room could have been cleaner - tea bag left in teapot and stubble left in the bathroom sink from previous guest! The water pressure in the shower was very weak and the curtain was hanging from the rail in the bedroom. The room had all the facilities you could need but a little more attention to cleaning and maintenance would have been welcome. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helfpul even though the hotel was very busy with a swing dance event and a wedding during my stay.

In general the hotel was dirty, basic cleaning such as the windows and window stills were very bad. Lift was smelly and dirty.Staff were very friendly.

Stayed here a number of years ago, wasn't to bad then but first impressions this time were poor unfortunately. Torn bedroom curtains, cigarette burns on the bedding - looked like a 50's guest house behind the scenes. Yes it was cheap but until this hotel does a major clean and refurb it will be unale to command anything higher. Oh, also no complimentary newspaper as was included in the booking - this is not available apparently.

Hotel quite good value, but in need of spring clean and decorating. Lift too small for size of hotel and somebody set off fire alarm, disabled rooms were on 3 floor, how do they get down stairs if severly disabled as one guest was and was very worried. Left phone charger in room but nobody found it.

Im guessing this was a lovely hotel once upon a time but unfortunately it is anything but lovely now. The first room we were given woukd not have even merited a 1 star rating being damp, smelly, one small dingy frosted window, dirty carpets, wallpaper peeling off the stained walls - disgusting. I can honestly say I have stayed in nicer hostels in the past. The second room we were given was a slight improvement in respect of the damp but was still appalling. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was not pleased at all with my stay at this hotel. We had a really old room, that had two windows that you could not see out of because they had a mesh on them. The window sills were full of brick dust and filthy. We also had a double bed which the mattress was concaved as it was so old. The only thing half decent was the breakfast. I would definatly not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel was very much dated & in need of refurbishment. Hotel room small & room area dirty with wallpaper falling off walls. Bed very uncomfortable & you could hear visitors in the next room including main corridor. Staff very friendly & helpfull. Hotel very much dampened our weekend stay in Blackpool meeting up with my sister & husband.

too far out of city centre and a room without a view but a frosted glass window come all the way from gibraltar to get a dark room ..as insisted to move and of course i did.

was suprised by hotel was much better than reviews i had read,breakfast was very good ,staff seemed friendly and helpful though did not have much to do with them quite far out of centre but tram stop outside great value for money

top quality,a guy called SCOTT on the reception was so helpful and concerned he deserves a mention.The whole break was perfect.

I wanted a cheapish hotel for me and my daughter before we went to gig at the Empress Ballroom. I read the reviews and was uncertain whether to book or not.. I booked a single room and took advantage of the children stay and eat free aspect of the room. (I previously phoned the hotel directly who told me to book a twin room which was twice the price!) Anyway I got there and asked for an additional bed which was duly put in.IOverall great value athough the hotel could do with a little update. Great breakfast included too!

Shower a bit grubby. Glasses in the bar filthy would not recommend this hotel

This hotel could be so much better some staff were Fantastic some need to be shipped out as they clearly have no customer skills at all.

hotel was once an icon but now falling ill under maintained not looked after and. becoming shabby rooms not very good and wife had to kneel down on floor to use hair dryer shame

very enjoyable food lovely room clean and tidy

bed shetts had holes in them. mattress not perfect. dirty marks on blanket on bed. left 2 dirty towels in bathroom which were not changed. breakfast was superb but evening meal,which we paid £12.50 each was disappointing. small portions and on one night,not hot.evening entertainment was mind boggling either!

I felt we needed a well deserved break,the offer sounded good, price to good to be true,however I would say this would of been a ' great ' hotel in 30s/40s, needs a complete makeover would not be booking another break there.

HOTEL IS IN NEED OF REFURBISHING, THE ROOMS ARE OLD AND WORN OUT, THE HOTEL TURNED DOWN THE HEATING DURING THE DAY, AND THE PRICES FOR MEALS WERE EXPENSIVE OVER THE NEW YEAR PERIOD ALSO THE RESTAURANT CLOSED ON THE 30TH AND 31ST DEC SO THERE WAS NO OPTION,

Not suitable as a business venue, entertainment every night prevents bar access, key lost its code everyday, room not serviced one of the days

the receptionist who was on duty at the time we had arrived on sat 22/10/11,was very helpful with the unfortunate position we were in at the time.aslo all through the day until we were actually had checked in. we could'nt thank her enough for her hospitality,help and consideration to us.

The rooms surprised me with a good shower and jacuzzi, the lack of staff was not good, it was possibly okay in off season but that week was a Scottish holiday for the children and it was busy. The breakfast was good apart from the fact that the food was not warm enough, again one extra cook would have made a difference. But the price was great again though I would have rather have paid the extra few pounds to have had better service on the reception.

As per usual with this brand of hotel the fabric of the building and the fixtures and fittings were in need of complete refurbishment. It was somewhere to sleep, only a £5 taxi ride away from the main nightspots. The breakfast was edible. One unexpected highlight was the jaccuzi bath in the bathroom. For the price I paid it wasn't too bad.

A charming old building in a charming setting. The room was disappointing: old and tired, and smelly. The toilet bowl was leaking and a plastic bucket had been placed under it to catch the water: on reporting this to the front desk they told us they knew about it, but didn't offer to fix it or find us another room. We were disappointed not have a room with a sea view. The in-house pub + food and the singer/bingo were a pleasant surprise: we stayed in and enjoyed the in-house entertainment.
