Candlewood Suites Austin-South - אוסטין

Wasn't expecting too much after reading a few reviews on the place. Turns out to be a really pleasant stay. Couldn't find anything to complain about at this hotel. Would stay again.

My boyfriend and I stayed only one night. The hotel was very clean and the room was very nice. The hotel is located near warehouses so it's kind of not in a main hotel area, but it's right off the highway, so it's convenient. The desk clerk when I checked in was very sweet and helped me pick a spot for dinner. Hopdoddy in SOCO (south congress avenue) was the spot. Long line, but OH SO WORTH IT.

The bed was comfortable though it sunk a little in the middle.

Hotel was located clean, staff was excellent. Location is great and price is affordable. I smoke and the hotel reserves an entire floor to smokers. That is very unusual and I appreciated the accommodation. Would gladly use this hotel again.

All the hallways smelled awfull like smoke, the bed squeaked loudly, the maid came by and didn't have any towels. Very disappointing , usually Candlewood is a good hotel, not this one.

The hotel and it's location are a great deal for the price, you can get downtown within 5-10 minutes and pay about half the price of an actual downtown hotel. However, I booked this through Hotels.com and I didn't read the booking very closely. I booked a non-smoking room but upon arrival, I learned that the hotel was full and they had to give me a smoking room. Both Hotels.com and the hotel manager told me that no booking can be guaranteed when using a service like Hotels.com- it is all subject to availability. This is fairly disappointing and I will reconsider using a service like Hotels.com in the future. Sleeping in a smoking room was less than ideal and have everything (clothes, luggage) reek of smoke after we checked out was disgusting.

I found the location to be a little complicated to get to and not very close to downtown. Seemed to be newer, clean, and had some very nice amenities. The in room kitchen, free laundry, free wifi, gym, gas grills, and food pantry were nice touches. There are a few shady characters that appeared to be conducting some suspicious activity but the all night attendant as well as a parking lot guard were much appreciated. It's a low cost alternative to surrounding accommodations and fairly quiet.

I enjoyed my stay, upon check out, David was very helpful and friendly. I will return and recommend for others.

Never stayed at Candlewood before. Will definitely stay gain. Enjoyed the setup and layout of hotel. 24 hour snack service was a great touch. Only snafu for us was due to our schedule, we tried to check in 30 minutes early and it seemed there wasn't even an attempt to accommodate us. Besides that little incident, the rest of our stay was great.

The hotel was great. But the maid service was not all that, they were suppose to come back in clean the room i didn't like that because they had not clean it. Then we ask for extra towels we did not get them but the hotel it self was great. Hotel did not fit the area.

Staff was very pleasant and responsive. Overall property was great. A little difficult to get to; good location at 290 and 35 in Austin; however, difficult to get to. Once you figured it out all was good.

We stayed at the Candlewood Austin while attending the inaugural F1 race on November 2012. The hotel wasn't at the most convenient location for us but most hotels in town were either sold out or asking very high rates, so Candlewood, while not cheap, turned out to be a reasonable option. The room was spacious and clean, we had one bedroom for us and a living room with a sofa bed for our little one. There's a dining / working table between the kitchen and the living room and a TV with basic cable. The kitchen was functional which is important when you travel with a toddler. The front desk clerk was responsive to our requests, for instance we didn't have enough towels or blankets in our room and he quickly provided some additional ones. The hotel has a little store, they call it their "cupboard" where you can pick up basic food items on the honor system. It's very useful and you can find most of what you may need for a late snack or basic breakfast. Everything was clean and in working order. You can't ask for more than that.

Great room and the staff was nice!

I have stayed here at least every 2 month for biz, no doubt, it is the best hotel in town with the amazing price.

Very convenient to where I needed to be, As a single woman I felt very safe, which is most important. Staff was very helpful and accomodating. The rates directly across the street were much higher, and I would definitly think twice before you book a room without checking out the Candlewood Suites first. Next time I will stay there again

Service desk employees are the greatest and the cupboard is fantastic. The bed in the room we were staying in is worn out and needs replacing. Other than that we will be back!

Newly renovated and plenty of room

The room was up-to-date as were all appliances (dvd player was a plus), linens, decor. The kitchen portion was really convinent feature to have. All in all- the deal we received through hotels.com was a steal. A suggestion for a future guest would be to pack an extra bathing towel, you're only provided two. Other than that, the room is equipt with everything you would possibly need- paper towel, dishwashing detergant, pyrex cookwear and the list goes on.

Nice hotel very comfortable and clean but the shower was awful it was what you find at a nursing home and was just a drain in the ground with a shower head on top and the drain was not working causing the bathroom to flood - only drawback - the rest was great!

When we were there the parking lot was being paved and the elevators were down. Got annoying since it was 100 degrees in the stairwells and we were on the thrid floor.

This hotel had just had the updates completed that all Candlewood locations across the country are getting (so recent you could still smell the paint). I've yet to stay at a Candlewood that didn't completely satisfy me. service was less than stellar and the surrounding neighborhood wasn't wonderful (but not bad by any means). This is a solid place to stay in the area at a terrific price!

well the tv remotes did not work and also the tv were out dated in my room and also the a/c on worked when it want to. the termostat didnt work?? our then that it was a great stay.Thanks

The hotel and room were much nicer than I thought for the price paid. Location was extremely convenient. Only complaint is the staff was not that friendly and extremely stingy with their towels. You can only have 2 at a time, bring soiled ones to front desk (in a specific basket designated for such) and you'll get 2 fresh ones. Just stupid.

The hotel was going to be renovated in the next week or so to a non smoking hotel. There was a lot of smoke in the air as we walked off the elevator past the smoking rooms back to our non smoking room. The fitness room was great. The bed was small but we managed. The hotel was off the highway and convenient to Furrs and IHOP.

it was a good stay. stayed 3 nights, but wish they would of cleaned it daily. overall it was a good stay

This hotel was not too bad. I got a good rate online. I enjoyed the fitness room and the fact that the hotel had accomodations for their guests to go to a larger facility if need be. I was not expecting the smallness of the queen suite. I thought it would be a little bit larger, which is really my only complaint. Our microwave did not work when we arrived and I had to put in a request to have it replaced, which they did immediately. I had read that they were doing upgrades for the rooms, which was not true (they will not be upgrading until after the new year). The place was overall safe, warm, and a good distance from just about every point in Austin!!

booked a non smoking room 1 month in advance of our arrival, upon arrival was given a smoking room, hotel was fully booked and could not change rooms until the following day. Not happy about the mess up but was promptly changed as soon as a non smoking room was available, toilet ran intermittently and one of the burners on the cooktop did not work.

I was more impressed with my stay at Candlewood Suites in Austin than I thought I would be. Being that it was the last hotel available during SXSW music and film conference, I had my concerns. The room was very clean and had all the comforts of home...a full size fridge, mini stove, dvd player, free internet access and was modernly decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful and I was never pestered by housekeeping. The only problem I had was the complete lack of taxi availability, which is not necessarily a reflection on the hotel but on the city of Austin. The location was convenient but the interstate traffic was loud when I opened my window for fresh air. All in all, I was very satisfied with my stay.

Where to begin with this hotel...First we had to stay in a smoking room because hotels.com apparently doesn't guarantee your room preference when you book through them. So, when we arrived for check-in I found out we had to sleep in a smoking room. Not only was this a problem for me (as a non-smoker) but the room was TERRIBLE. The walls did not even have paint on them, there were still waiting to be primed. The paint that was in the bathroom and in the kitchen area was peeling and yellowed. The bed sheets were thin and uncomfortable. They also only gave us three flat pillows for our queen bed. When we asked for a third pillow, the hotel "couldn't help us out." The greatest part of the room was the fact that the curtains DIDN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY. I'm still puzzled by this. How do you install curtains that don't close all the way, when you have a window facing the highway and the lights of the parking lot. The bathroom was also a gross area of disappointment. The towels felt like sandpaper and I was actually worried to get in the bathtub. Point is - this was a TERRIBLE hotel experience. Worst I've ever had. And I feel like writing to the CEO of the hotel chain and suggest that he remove the "suites" from the name because it most defintely was not suite.

Overall, the staff was very attentive and if we ever had any questions or needs they were there immediately to help us out. The rooms, though unexpectedly smoking rooms, were very comfortable and convenient; everything was well maintained and the bedding and all appeared to be clean. If you are needing a good, safe place to stay during your trip to Austin, this place is not too far from downtown and is a quality location to lay your head down.

I was suppose to have a non-smoking room but was giving a smoking room and the manager at Candlewood was not willing to provide me with any compensation. The room smelt really bad, do not stay there.
