The Penguin Hotel - מיאמי ביץ'

This hotel was perfect. It's right on Ocean Drive and just a short walk from everything!! The beach is right outside the hote also. The service here was great as well. Very friendly staff.

I stayed here because it was a last minute deal and cheap. But you get what you pay for. Small Cheap Noise.

yes I do understand that we stepped back in time but the rooms needed much help. If you are selling the Bogie and Bacall experience than do so, otherwise update the bathrooms and sleeping areas and at least install a quiet air conditioner that is (not) behind a heavy drape, get a coffee pot in the room, and rearrange the furniture. Get rid of the red transparent bed side 1960's plastic box. We were not crazy about the car parking and the rates seemed high considering zero choices. The breakfast arrangements, meager. We walked to a neighbor the next day. The people were great, the service was prompt and courteous and the building was cool but behind the doors, come on. We planed this for a long time, a sad disappointment. We will not go back.

The hotel was reasonably clean, but very outdated and worn. The location is great though!

The hotel was filthy and unclean. The shower was broken - sheets were dirty - not worth the $200 they charged me for a day at all. Only one plus is location - it is right on the ocean drive.

This hotel was featured on Hotel Impossible on TV, which turned it around to a beautiful hotel on TV. It is NOTHING like that in person. LOBBY: When you walk in, you can see they do not care about upkeep or cleanliness. The white leather dining chairs were all dirty with dirty hand prints on the top. The couches in their lobby were covered with an old couch cover that had stains and dirt marks. There were clumps of hair on the floor. The bar area was filthy. The hallways are very dark and narrow. ROOM: The room was disgusting. The floors were very dirty, leaving chalky marks on my bags. The beds were very old, sinking in on each side and very uncomfortable. The sheets had MULTIPLE BLOOD STAINS on them. The walls were covered in dust. Dust was all over the place. The handle to the faucet in the bathroom came off. FOOD: All of their food is made in the hotel across the alley behind the hotel. This includes the continental breakfast that was really just toast, cereal, coffee and orange juice. By the looks of everything else, I would never eat there. We had to go through a back alley to get to the other hotel to eat. VALET: The valet took 30 minutes to get my car. Worth it to pay $30 a day to valet than $20 per entrance to parking garage. SERVICE: The people there were nice, but nothing worth mentioning. When I told the lady at the front desk about our experience, she couldn't have looked any more disinterested.

the hotel was pricey, it's frustrating to learn you have to pay $19+tax/day resort fee upon arrival on top of what's paid. When booked I paid for 3d person to stay in a 2 beds room, but resort fee only included breakfast for 2. Breakfast is cheap. The beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. The only good thing is location.

The only thing I didnt like was the bed seems alike cheap

The staff at the Penguin was the best we have ever had. We have stayed at much more expensive hotels and the staff could not compare to the Penguin . The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. You will have to pay for valet parking unless you want to keep going to the parking meter across the street and put in money. It's like that at most hotels in Miami. Parking is scarce. I would recommend The Penguin Hotel to anyone.

great place to stay right across from the beach

Only problem I had with this hotel was the bedding was to small for the bed an kept coming off

Poor customer service at front desk. I was offered warm water in 85 degree weather.

Great location and courteous staff. Hotel needs some improvements but nice place and the price was right. We would definitely stay at The Penguin on our next visit.

We stayed here because of the location on the beach and also close to shops and many eating establishments. There is a $15 resort fee per room which gives you Internet, 2 cocktails in bar, water in your room ( although very small bottles) and continental breakfast in another nearby hotel but you don't have to pay it if you don't want the above. Room had a fantastic feature wall, very spacious with all the usual bathroom amenities. Elevator quite scary as the building is very old. Front desk staff very helpful and booked taxi for us the next day after check out, we were able to leave luggage and go walking before it arrived. Would consider this hotel should we be in the Miami area again.

good location for the price.

The room was dirty, sheets stained, and had an unbearable stench of air freshener. The bed was uncomfortable and the only window covering was a sheer, white veil which made it seem as if we were sleeping directly on the beach once the sun rose. There are far better options in the area. We switched to the Riviera Suites (one of the South Beach Group's hotels) and were much happier.

Well priced hotel and great location. The place had been refurbed however some of the fittings were a bit loose. No safety box in our room. Otherwise friendly staff, clean, airy room and would stay there again.

Great location but isn't worth the money. If you plan to be busy in the Art Deco area it is the ideal hotel to lay your head and change clothes. If you are accustomed in lounging and relaxing within the facility you will be disappointed

This place doesn't change sheets unless you make a request, very good policy for the environment, but not for a travler, who can't read English.

Nice room bed was a lil old but it was clean

Only disappointment was the restuarant "The Porch" has changed hands. If you want to stay in the area it is a great place and was resonable in price.

The staff are all so friendly and the bartender mixes a "mean" drink! Everything was just right. The continental breakfast could use a little sprucing up-maybe some muffins or bagels. But even the breakfast staff were so friendly and fun. I thought I had already paid the $15.00 fee but apparently that was not included when I booked the room so keep $15.00 available for check-out. I would definitely stay there again if I wanted to hang out in South Beach.

Had watched this hotel on Hotel Impossible being rescued , so when a South Beach trip was in the offing, I signed up for it. I was looking to see some of the improvements featured on the show, and they were there, especially the lobby and outdoor patio, all nicely done. My room had an ocean view, all the fixtures worked properly. Minor complaints; no instructions for use of A/C, TV , older bedding, and difficult to access shower controls. I had 3 interactions with front desk personnel, and in all 3 instances was dealing with a trainee, so they are bringing new blood on board. I had to lean under the shower head and get wet by it in order to turn it on. Valet parking was expensive! It is a small hotel, so service is normally personal, but I didn't feel the hotel went out of their way to make a connection. Overall I had a great time on South Beach, and though not in love with the Penguin would stay there next time..

If you want a great location to sleep only, this is it. TV does not have very many channels, email goes in and out, room never cooled and parking is $35/day. Other than that it was fabulous!

this hotel has great staff, the restaurant & bar staff in particular. i had a few issues w/ my room, initially, but the staff worked hard 2 rectify them. the room was cool, but the bathroom had a terrible shower. the south beach location was lively & active. so, if ure looking 4 a quiet getaway, this not the spot 4 u. overall, i had a good experience.

Breakfast was served in adjacent hotel. Staff friendly. Close-by public parking garage on 13th street.

I stayed in the Penguin Hotel back in 2009 when it was rated in a Tourist Guidebook as being one of the best hotels in the area. Good value for money and it had the best breakfast...which was then included. The hotel has since changed hands and it is no where near a 3 star HOTEL...more like a MOTEL. Look out for ALL the additional fees NOT included in your room fee. Parking is NOT good in area and it was just a rip off MOTEL.

My room flooded, not once, but twice! All my clothes werre wet! No offer to have them washed and dried. Mess!

It was great until the room two doors over began have a conversation. The voice went around the gaps of the door. Then into the corridor, and finally the the gaps around my door and into my ears. No sleep until I found my own ear plugs.

Great location, walking distance to the beach and not too close to the noisy South Beach clubs/bars. The room was small but we were expecting more from this hotel. The curtains were stained, the bed was not in really good condition and the hotel overall is a two star hotel. If you only care about the location.. it is the right choice.

Great location. Clean rooms. Bathroom NOT air conditioned. Hallways SCARY. Ok for adults, would not take kids here.

The hotel was very small and dirty. We didn't even want to touch the curtains to see the view of the ocean. The bed was really bad and the room musty smelling. For the cost, I would have expected a lot better.

I've stayed here a couple of times, and while the service isn't impeccable, the rooms are clean, and the location is excellent. I preferred the hotel when they had the Front Porch Cafe down in the lobby, but it moved up the street a bit.

personal is very friendly and helpful. hotel needs to spend money on some matteress, black mold in shower, shower head held up buy rubber band. if this hotel was any other place it would be a 1 star hotel
