magnific hotel. In one corner behind the Fenice theatre. Very close to San Marcos plaza. Many rooms, very cozy, any noise.

Difficult access from waterbus due to two bridges not easily navigated with suitcases. Also the shower was marginal and not appropriate for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was mediocre.

Hotel Location is excellent for walking through most of Venice without the need to cross the Grand Canal. Reception staff is cold at best, almost disdainful at worst - but you have to accept a 4 star in Venice is not what you think. The hotel is generally clean, it is quite a pretty little hotel with convoluted corridors with steps here and there - so avoid if this is an issue.The room was cosy if not very pretty, the only issue was the smell of sewage when you come back in the evening, but that is not the hotel's fault it's the aqua alta season so all of venice smells bad (was there early november). All in all a good value for money if you want to avoid being out on the Lido.

Wonderful location with helpful staff. We had one day with incredible high tide flooding and the staff gave us garbage bags to wear on our legs, taped them tightly so we could walk the streets. What might have been a day spent in the hotel room turned into an adventurous, fun day!

My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been happier with the hotel and its staff. This charming hotel is located just far enough from St. Mark's square to be away from the crowds and close enough to walk there in just a couple of minutes. The staff is friendly, helpful, and available 24/7. We definitely recommend it for a romantic getaway or any other stay.

This hotel is very close to St. Mark's Square, the Doge Palace, the Campanile and the opera house - I couldn't have asked for a better location. Nice old bldg, very clean and newly renovated bathroom, comfy room, great buffet breakfast. August means high season and lots of people everywhere - for that the price was VERY reasonable, and the area nice and quiet. I would certainly stay there again, and I recommend it to all ages.

Only one of the three desk employees was helpful. All were pleasant but only self service suggestions were offered and those were inconvient

Not much to say, except that the staff was great! I woke up late, after the complimentary breakfast was served and they still made me a great espresso and served me breakfast! What more can I ask for? The room was clean and the air conditioning worked great! You should take a look at the photos in the bar, Marcello Mastroiani, and other great celebrities have either stayed at the hotel or enjoyed the bar. I strongly suggest the Bellini, the Carpacio, and the chocolate ice cream at Harry's Bar, but only in Venice. Skip the Rolex Store at Piazza San Marco, they don't know anything.

Room was average, but clean and well maintained. Hotel has lots of character and is in a great location very close to the Opera house. Walking distance to most major attractions, we loved the shopping in the area as well. This hotel was a great choice.

I would recommend this place if you can get a good deal on it. Very nice. 10 minute walk to "the last supper". I probably wouldn't recommend walking to the city centre from this location though. A little too far. But there is a subway stop very close to the hotel (Panago stop) which is very convenient, and that line takes you directly to the Duomo subway stop (which is the city centre). Hotel was very nice and clean. Worth the 4 star rating.

We were surprised and delighted with our stay. We'd expected the hotel to be just fine; in fact, it turned out to be magical. Our room had a lovely little balcony above a small canal; we awoke to the sounds of gondolas passing beneath our windows. The staff was gracious and helpful, and we hope to have a chance to return someday.

Located just behind La Fenice Opera House, about 10-minute walk from San Marco, in the general direction of the Rialto Bridge. Desk staff is very friendly, available 24x7, speaks English. The rooms are very clean. Single room is small by American standards but quite comfortable: bed, desk, closet, TV, mini-fridge. Private bathroom with modern fixtures (shower, sink, toilet, bidet). The air conditioner is powerful and quiet. There is a small elevator that goes from one flight up above the ground floor to the 3rd floor (so the rooms are not wheelchair-accessible). Plenty of good eateries in all directions, including one right next to the hotel, which is frequented by opera goers in the evenings.

I can't say enough about the staff. We had an issue with an airport transfer and the hotel staff took it upon themselves to successfully resolve the situation. They were also very willing to provide suggestions for must see sights, unusual night time activities and directions for getting there. On the minus side, for a Four Star hotel, free in room WiFi was limited to 15 minutes. After that, there was a charge. The included breakfast was typical Italian fare but skimpy in comparison to breakfasts offered in other comparable hotels.

2 to 3 star hotel - definitely not 4 stars.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned daily and bath towels were changed daily. Continental style breakfast was adequate though not imaginative, with a variety of croissant, bread rolls (not always as fresh as I would have liked), cheese and poor quality ham. Very well placed for getting around Venice and quiet at night.

I really enjoyed our stay the front dest was so helpfull and friendy and the hotel is really cute. We got a spur of the minute deal and we were very pleased.

I have stayed at the hotel several times and love its location (easy to find from Piazza St. Marco and next to the beautiful thatre of same name). The desk staff is very gracious and helpful. The computer available to guests, however, only offers 15 minutes of free internet and then you must pay. The computer is so slow that you get little for your 15 minutes! The breakfast is more worthy of a pensione than a 4-star hotel....very paltry for the price of the room. I will surely stay there again for the location, but I would choose room without breakfast if given the option.

First room was very smelly- we had to move next day; second room was in a different building entering which was like a step back in time. Third room was oddly shaped and had too many items in it given its small size. The bathroom door needs shaved to help it close properly. Entry to the hotel was via an open air public toilet- well, that's how the alley smelt! Breakfast was very limited eg no cereals. Staff were friendly and spoke English. They did their best to help us.

Not high-end and a little quirky, decor-wise, but clean and staffed with knowledgeable, helpful and friendly personnel 24 hours a day

Lovely hotel right next to the Opera House. Beautifully done, noteable blown glass chandelier in the room. We stayed only one night because of rain and no hot water! Didn't stay to have breakfast. Headed back to Florence to our base hotel.

The Hotel La Fenice et des Artistes is a very cute, quaint hotel. Our room was a great size. We had the actual bdroom plus a small sitting area with a sofa and TV. very comfortable and clean. The front desk staff was very nice and polite and the complimentary brkfst buffet was quite decent consisting of coffee, tea, milk, juices, pastries, and cold cuts. To me the best part of this hotel was the location. About a 5 minute walk from Piazza San Marco and the Alilaguna and ACTV stops and lots of shops and restaurants, but yet the hotel itself is on a quite street so you can actually sleep and not be bothered by noise. I would certainly stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

I liked this place. Low key, clean, efficient, well located. Tucked away in a quiet spot , with a few cute squares within stumbling distance. I would recommend.

The location was excellent and the hotel was clean. The staff were not bad and breakfast was ok.

Great location. Clean and nice size rooms but the only charm in the hotel was the beautiful chandelier in my room. The reception was overall unfriendly, particularly the day shift, where the guy was the most sour personality I have encountered in a long time. Not the experience one would like in enchanting Venice.

The hotel was very well located for both sites and the vaporetto. The rooms are small and traditional (i.e. not modern), but they are comfortable enough. A very good continental breakfast is included.

Only a 5 minute walk to San Marco square, this hotel is tucked away on a quiet little plaza. My room was tiny and picturesque - it felt like the opulence of the Renaissance with all the mod cons thrown in. Friendly helpful staff and nice breakfast buffet, unusual in Venice where almost nothing comes free. Highly recommended.

Excellent little hotel in convenient position very near La Fenice Theatre only five minutes from St mark's Square and less than ten from the Rialto Bridge. Comfortable room and good breakfast.

Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes is a beautiful little hotel with easy access to just about everything but without the business and noisiness of some of the other areas. The staff was gracious and always helpful. The room was quiet and extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is well located and offers a decent breakfast. Those are the positives... The staff was rude, with simple requests/questions irritating and overwhelming them. Our room was in poor condition with [recent?] repairs made to a wall and the door being incomplete. The bedding, furniture and TV weren't in the best shape either. Needless to say, our room didn't exactly look like the pictures from the website. Given the hotel's 4 star rating and corresponding price, we were expecting a higher quality product and more attentive staff than what the Hotel la Fenice delivered. Maybe if this were a 2-3 star hotel and priced as such, things would have been appropriate...

This hotel has an exceptional location and the staff is excellent. It is also a quiet hotel. The stall was very helpful and pleasent. Outstanding. The rooms are small and the air conditioning is a bit weak. The property has seen much better days and I would have been completely satisfied if it had been rated a 2 or 3 star. The ratings of hotels in Europe are very problematic. This is a great hotel for location and staffing and I believe that the pricing is fair, but it does not deserve its 4 star rating.

This is fantastic hotel. with very nice location. Easy to access from airport shuttle. Rooms are small as i read in some other reviews, but are clean and decent. If you take canal side view, it will be difficult to keep windows open at night due to mosquitoes. If you like fresh air, take road side view. The people at reception don’t sound very co-operative but they try to help if they are in good mood. Breakfast is not good at all for the price they charged. No hot food at all, only refrigerated. Hotel have complimentary visit to Murano glass factory (even if you book hotel from Hotels.com) so ask for it. The map of Venice provided by hotel is not useful at all, you will have to buy one from the shops. Take the route map to reach hotel on you first day to Venice from train/ flight or you can get lost. Read on the hotel website how to get there, it is helpful.

This hotel is nicely located, it's close to St. Mark's Square, but far enough to be away from the chaos. It's right next to the Opera house and is just a very neat place. it seemed to be truly old fahioned Venice. The daytime staff at the desk were delightful and very helpful, the gentlemen in the evening were less helpful but pleasant. I would highly suggest Vino Vino around the corner for dinner. This place also had the largest shower of our entire trip. We had the opportunity to choose between a double or 2 singles. The singles were small but serviceable, and the bathrooms were reasonable. My only complaint for the room probably applies to most any place in Venice or Italy. Since the heating/cooling isn't on in April, we had to open the windows to get some air movement. Unfortunately there were not screens (as is a theme throughtout Italy / Europe), but there were mosquitos. Any part outside of the blankets was attacked by mosquitoes. My arms looked like I has chicken pox! Not much can be done about it, but plan your PJ's accordingly for April!

Adorable place! Needed room for 3 and were given 2 separate bedrooms-very pleased. Staff was wonderfully helpful and genuinely pleasant. Breakfast buffet was good. Wish we were there for more than one night! Getting luggage to and from water taxi & up to elevator was a bit of a chore...but that's Venice. Pack light!

Good hotel In the center of a triangle of the must-see: San Marcos, Rialto, La Academia My room was not big, but it was not a problem. Breakfast: all you want to eat. Not too much variety but good stuff

This hotel was a big disappointment and not what we expected for a 4-stars hotel. In my opinion, the room/bathroom that we received should be ranked at only 2-stars. Something you would expect at a Super 8 Motel. We were NOT please with this hotel at all.

We stayed in Venice at this hotel for eight wonderful days. The staff at the front desk, maids, breakfast area were very helpful and friendly. The hotel's location is ideal, close to nearly everything that you want to visit but tucked away in a quiet little square without tourist crowds. The room are of adequate size but unfortunately not well maintained. The mattresses are old and hard, lightbulbs are burned out, decorative trim is falling off the walls and the room furniture has seen better days. That said, the bathrooms in each of our two rooms were relatively new, clean without issues except for limited hot water during the morning rush. Breakfast was very nice with a great cappuccino maker, filled croissants, fruit juices, cold cuts, etc. Front desk staff went well out of their way to help with problems, questions and were consistently friendly and available. The prices for the rooms were very reasonable given the location. It's a bit of a shame because the maintenance needed is really light weight stuff to make this hotel an absolute gem. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it, especially to value conscious travelers.

Good value for Venice. Location very convenient. Very good breakfast. Competent and friendly staff who speak good English. All hotels in Venice require carrying your luggage from the boat. Get directions!

The staff at the Hotel La Fenice was outstanding. They took time to help this first time visitor understand and appeciate Venice. They are the greatest assett of this hotel.

We hope this hotel will be updated. It has become rather shabby.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. It's located just a few blocks from St Mark's and next door to the opera house, which was really convinient. The service was good and complementary breakfast, while not abundant, would still save you 10-15 euro by local prices. The only issue I had with the room was a really squicky floor. Keep in mind that the Internet is free only for the first 15 minutes each day, after that you pay by the hour. But at least it worked, which is more than i can say for some other Italian hotels i stayed at. Very good experience overall.
