BEST WESTERN SMOKEHOUSE LODGE - Monteagle

the lodge was very comfortable and the the food at the smokehouse inn was excellent for the dinner meal, was somewhat disappointed as to their breakfast offering.

The staff was responsive and the attached restaurant had good comfort food. The room was clean and quiet and the "lodge feel" lobby always had good coffee and chocolate and a fire going. A storm knocked out my cell service and they let me use the hotel phones to place a local business call. Be sure to sample some homemade fudge. They are very pet friendly. We would stay again.

Monteagle is a nice little town and your visit here is what you make it. The Smokehouse is our faviorite place to stay in this area for a number of reasons. Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff and you dont have to leave for anything. The Smokehouse resturant is hard to beat. Menu or buffet it is awesome. On the weekend there is live music that has never let us down. We will be back.

We were traveling through to our destination. We have been pasted this hotel several times and wanted to stay. Really enjoyed the short time of our stay. The staff was very friendly for the time of night we arrived. We had hope to get there earlier but delays made it impossible. Next time we would like to be able to enjoy the facilities. Want to come back with more family to use the cabins. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable.

The room was nice and the location is perfect when visiting Sewanee; however, the hotel allows workers to stay in rooms. Not a big problem, except they partied HARD both nights above and around us until 2 and 3 am. Unacceptable.

We have stayed here a few times due to proximity to the University of the South. Our last visit was disturbing as both nights hotel employees stayed above our room and LOUDLY partied until 2 and 3 am- combined with other revelers outside and a large dog barking within their room Even when we called the front desk the party continued for another hour. All the cleanliness, and interior comfort can't make up for such a hotel employee Policy. Unacceptable.

Stayed here with wife and group of 16 other riders out of Birmingham. This is the perfect location and we were able to park our bike just outside our door. The Smokehouse resturant had song writers night the Saturday that we stayed there and we were able to enjoy our dinner and the a wonderful evening with 4 very talented and entertaining individuals from Nashville. The Smokehouse Resturant and the location is the draw here. The rooms are OK and I see that they have cabins also available. The best feature here is the great resturant attached and location. I will be back if for no other reason the great service and quality of service at the Smokehouse.

If you're looking for a clean place to lay your head, this is it. There are no premium cable channels and few amenities surrounding this hotel. But the staff is friendly and helpful; and the rooms are spotless.

It was a very tired looking place. It's day had passed.

Nice stay

The cabin was cozy and romantic.

Our family has stayed here at different times during our many trips from Louisville to Florida. We choose it this time for just my wife & I to have a relaxing week-end and to see the Fall colors of the trees. We enjoyed a wonderful cabin that was huge, comfortable, clean, and quiet. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Another plus is their pet-friendly policy. If you want to avoid the Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge crowd, but still enjoy the beauty of the TN hills and people, this is the best place.

I like the idea of staying in a cabin and being able to bring my dog. The screened in porch is great. However, the bed was so bad, we barely slept. It creaked and swayed like it was about to break and the mattress had a cavernous hole that you couldn't help but role into. We put a cooler underneath to shore it up and eliminate the sag in the middle. It was incredibly uncomfortable. The tub had a bath mat in it to a) hide the dirt/mold on the bottom of the tub b) keep you from slipping an breaking your neck since there was not traction left on the surface (except the dirt/mold). The cabin was okay but smelled very musty so we kept the door open to the porch as much as possible. The kitchen is MINIMALLY outfitted. A few pots and a few plates/glasses. No baking pans, no pot holders. You can boil some water and fry something w/what they provide.

We recently stayed at the Smoke House Lodge because it is convenient to Sewanee where our daughter is attending college. There are few choices in the area. The hotel has become very run down--rickety stairs in disrepair, frayed carpet rolling up at the edges and pulling away from the wall, tired mattresses and springs, and a general damp musty feel in our room. The bathroom was clean and the shower was great. Air conditioner cooled the room well. Just generally run-down and permanently worn and dingy.

Staff was friendly. The room was clean upon check in. However that was the only day it was cleaned. We just received fresh towels every day we were there but that was it. It didn't matter what time of day it was, the cleaning staff was always on a smoke break. The only thing that makes this place worthwhile is it's accessibility to all of the state parks.

Great family get away. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was sooooooo nice!! It was a very nice cabin with plenty of room. The cabin was well maintained and very cute and rustic. We took full advantage of the oversized jacuzzi and the kitchenette. It was a great getaway with lots to do in the surrounding area and even more in the. Nearby surrounding areas. The cabin we stayed in was a perfect get away,and is perfect if you want to get away from it all. The cabins are sooooooo nice!! The only downside was we did not have a reliable working phone (except for hang up phone calls everyday ?), and the Internet was not working in the cabins while we were there. So if you want to get away from it all and enjoy your vacation free from the hassles of Internet and phone, this is your place. The only negative I have is about the manager that was working in a little room behind the front desk. Having been to the area before I knew there were passes you could buy to attractions in nearby lookout mountain - incline railway, rock city and ruby falls. When I asked the young lady working behind the desk where we could buy one of the combo passes for all three places, she did not know and asked her manager in the back room if she had ever heard of that. The manager in the back acted like she had no idea what we were talking about. After purchasing said pass, we went back and I let the girls behind the counter know there was a place you could buy the multiple pass for all three attractions and that it was even advertised in a brochure in their lobby. I do not blame the young ladies behind the desk, but the manager in the back room who as manager should know about these kind of things. I got the feeling that since they didn't sell the passes that they didn't care to help guests save money on a combo pass. Frankly, we were disappointed with the Inn. The room was of 60's vintage. Amenities were TV, coffee maker, and heat/cool. The carpet needed cleaning.

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS HOTEL. OUR ROOM WAS ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HOTEL AND IT WAS LIKE SLEEPING IN A BASEMENT. THE TEMPERATURE IN THE ROOM WAS 68 BUT IT WAS SO HUMID IT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.

Overall good stay. Kind of a fun and funky kind of place.

More than just a hotel room... beautiful surroundings, loved the chairs and swings on the porches as well as down comforters on queen size beds. Wonderful restaurant with great comfort food. Staff very accommodating. Would be a great place for a reunion, staying in the cabins overlooking pond, tennis court, basketball court, playground. All for a great price!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much we are going back at the end of the summer with the family. This is not an expensive hotel but a great one if you are on a budget. The fried pies are a must try and live music both friday and saturday night. Thanks.

Noisy revelers in the front parking area accompanied by someone repeatedly reving up a small motorbike between 11:30 and 12:30 at night (our room faced the parking lot). Our mattress was cheap and uncomfortable.

Great location right off Interstate. Clean and basic...not fancy. Good value.

the view was nice especially with the sunrise. It was quite at night which is what my friend and I needed after driving all day. Conviently located by a restaurant which was a little greasy for my taste but still good and a liqour store!

Nice little cozy palce for a one night stay. The staff at the Smokehouse was the best. We arrived late and the restaurant was getting ready to close. Not only did they stay to take our order, they also delivered ot to the room. The rooms are fine and will suit your purpose. The price was right and as usual everyone in Tennessee is always nice.

On big Sewanee event weekends, the price goes up, but I was there a different weekend. The room was clean, the front desk attentive. Only quibble was that the bathtub drain lever didn't work, and it took the staff several attempts to fix it.

We were very unsatisfied with this Lodge. The only good thing I can say is the beds were comfortable. We booked a wheelchair accessable room, one bed, with a roll in shower. They gave our room away even though we booked the room with our credit card. They did have another w/c room. However the bathroom was too small, did not have a roll in shower - which we booked. There was too much furniture in the room. We ate at the restaurant. NEVER AGAIN.. GREASY GREASY. We bought post cards - they could have told us we get them free in the office. The only good thing about the store was the fudge. When we checked out - there was extra on our bill. I asked what was it for - the girl did not know.. I of course did not pay!. We should not have had extras. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS LODGE..

Front rooms are very noisy.

Just a quick overnight stay while driving to florida. Cozy lobby, simple, clean rrom. Would stay again. Great price.

The cabin was exactly as it looked on the website, was very quiet and very clean. The Savage Gulf area is absolutely beautiful and we plan to do a return trip so that we can explore the area more. Monteagle is only about 1 1/2 hours from where we live making it a very easy trip and only 45 minutes from Chattanooga so you can take time to go see the Aquarium. We were also told at checkout that we had received a "really good" rate through hotels.com

It was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.
