Overall satisfying hotel, nothing unusual but Ok for a couple in need for a getaway!

It was disgusting and I couldn't wait to get out of there. We didn't sleep in the room and had to pay for two nights even though we left as soon as we could. The room was falling apart and extremely small. The bathroom was filthy and so tiny - shower and toilet were on top of each other and there was no room to move. To top it off the dead bolt on the door was broken.

Hallways r so narrow that only one person can go....sideways. You have to sit on the toilet to take a shower, that's how small it was. When I complained, they said its European style. Now I don't wanna Goto europe. Stayed there for two days and my sheets weren't changed, no cleaning lady ever entered my room. Very disappointed.

Lovely hotel for a cheap price, cozy rooms and rapid internet. I definitely would stay there every time I go to Montreal

Yes! It is an older Hotel and would need some repair and TLC but it was very clean and the front desk staff worry very friendly and nice. I was told that repairs have been started on a room by room basis. I was very satisfied and will be return next year for my event.

Staff very friendly , good location if was affordable

This is basically a step up from a hostel. The bathroom is less than the size of a closet. There are 3 floors & no elevators. The mattress was about 4 inches on a slab.

Very basic more like a hostel than a hotel. Parking is on the street free over night until 9AM. After 9AM the hotel stuff will gladly assist by paying the parking with money previously left by you with them.

the hotel was old and shabby. the room was small and dusty, the bathroom was verry small, it was also old. the location was good, within 10 min drive you where dow town. there are lots of resgaurants i the area. there was a kitcken in the hotel yoy could use. the staff was friendly and helpfull.

Small, sparse and adequate. And quite clean too! We needed a bed and a shower, but there was a tv if we wanted also!! The pleasant Asian woman who greeted was very helpful, offering the wifi password and instructions for the phone. She also directed us toward an atm and food. Less than a block to the park, about a mile to our destination. If you don't require or expect much, this place is great! If you need carpets, kitchens and room service, spend more elsewhere.

This is a two-star hotel but the facilities are in good shape and the rooms are comfortable. The staff, however, deserve five-star rating! They are extremely friendly, helpful and they really care about their guests. My family's Montreal trip might have ended in disaster had it not been for the staff at Hotel Park Ave. We had car issues and could not drive out of the city when we expected to and our room had already been booked by another patron. The staff helped us make all the phone calls necessary for our vehicle as well as called almost every hotel in town to try and find us a room. We eventually resolved the problem and drove out of the city happy and satisfied.

Very quite area even though downtown, but the room wasn't clean the bathroom pathetic very tiny water running all over the place. The walls were very messy. Would never suggest this hotel to any of my family members or friends.

This hotel is nothing fancy but a good option if you're looking to stay in Montreal on a very limited budget. It is very close to bus routes linking you to the downtown (almost right outside the front door), and about a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station, Mont-Royal. Good options for food and groceries also within a 5-15 minute walk. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, and accommodations felt safe. Many of the rooms have been refinished with laminate flooring and simple furniture, with flat screen TVs. It's a pet-free environment, great for anyone with allergies. Rooms were clean.

Hotel was easy to find and very central, right beside Mt Royal and between downtown and the Plateau (which is infinitely more fun that downtown). There is a lot of construction going on right outside the hotel, but that should clear up within a month or so...Our first room was up on 3rd floor (no elevator) in the back. The mattress was rock hard, the floors were crooked, the shower "stall" and the toilet overflowed, so we asked for a change, which was done right away, subject to vacancy. The new room was on the first floor, facing the street. Construction noise was tolerable in the morning, thanks to doubled windows. The bed was softer, the plumbing worked better and the shower "stall" was cleaner (there is no real stall, just a curtain...the whole floor is going to get wet...shower caveat, as they say). Overall, a decent stay for such an inexpensive room, but it's not somewhere I'd suggest to anyone who has a reasonable budget to work with. Just be nice with the staff. They did their best with what they have and were friendly and accomodating.

Staff was great...had a nice room...inexpensive...close to Beauty's for breakfast....1 minute walk to Mont Royal...perfect !

Good. Value find. Found nearby parking for free with help from the hotel owners. Very courteous people.

The hotel is not in the best condition, but for the price and location it's fine. Free wi-fi and friendly staff, too.

extremely stinking and too small space washroom

The hotel is located in a good area, and the employees are very nice and helpful. I didn't know the hotel was going though renovations when I booked the rooms, and the Avenue du Parc in front of it was closed due to (also) renovations. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if someone would have told me that before I got there. The room had this awfull smell of cigarettes, which I hate, and it was all over the duvet on the bed. The linnen were fine and clean; didn't like the towels. For the price, it was fine. I didn't expect more than what I got. Bad think about the room: I could hear my neighboor's TV (same floor) and all that the couple at the room above me were doing.

Cheaper than back packer hostels. Although not the classiest place in town, it served its purpose for an exchange student with a week to kill before moving in to campus accomodation.

Good hotel for an inexpensive stopover. A bit small but clean with washroom.

At that price, this is just about the best you can get. Bedding was comfortable and clean, as were the countertops and tables. However, they forgot grey fingerprints over every door and handle. The flat-screen TV was perfectly functional and ideally located, but only the most popular channels were available in English. Never had any trouble with the wi-fi connection. The mini-fridge is very small, but a larger fridge is available for all guests in the kitchenette dowstrairs. I did not open it so I can't comment. This hotel allows smoking in the rooms and on a little terrasse accessible from the kitchen. Personally, my room only had the very faint and reassuring smell of detergent. Perhaps because the windows open. The bathroom had been renovated recently, terracotta tiles all over and no bathtub. The room, kitchenette and basically the entire place are remindful of a frathouse or a dorm on an old East Coast college campus. Really cool atmosphere, but didn't hear a noise past midnight. Ideal for young folks who want to spend a weekend where the action is and don't need luxury.

Definitely a 1-2*...Nice location, but the hotel requires major renovations. But for the price I paid, I can't conplain too much.

this hotel was farther away from where we were goin to in montreal but was very nicely priced making it a very good choice for us. Would definitely stay here again

Poor parking facilities! Aircon in the room very loud. But Hey, if you need a place to crash It's okay!

I think this was a good hotel for the money. The staff was nice (especially the one called Jenny) and our room was clean, there were no bedbugs. I think this is a good hotel and if you are looking for a cheap hotel in Montreal you should try this one. It is only a 10-15 min walk to the metro station and overall it was good.

The hotel needs immediate maintenance, everything is out of shape

This hotel is extremely run down, the room was so tiny and everything in it was at least 30 years old. The decor was most likely original from when the hotel was build 100 years ago. But! the staff were friendly and very helpful my friends and I made the best of the hotel room and it was probably the most talked about part of our trip. We laughed and took photos of how bad it was! Very entertaining. I would totally stay there again if I needed a really cheap place to stay.

Few years back “Hotel Park Avenue” was a good place to stay. Unfortunately, my recent experience with this hotel was disappointing. The front desk agent (at check out) did not have any people skills. The room was awfully dirty and the building itself is not well maintained. The TV in my room did not work and was at least 15 years old. My room did not even have a trash-can in it. I will strongly advice everyone NOT to stay at this place as it will ruin your Montreal visit.

It is the WORST hotel I ever checked in ... No parking, the place is filthy , rooms look like prison cells, no wifi signal , the hallway was so norow I couldn't even push the stroller without bumping into the wall . No iron,no hair dryer, no microwave , no coffee maker, no shampoo , dirty shower and curtains, the A/C is just a tiny wall unit , and the worst service you could ever have

The room was much smaller that I expected. It was very cramped. Possibly was once the room for an on-site maintenance person. The bathroom was very tiny and the shower was ultra narrow! An OK room if someone was backpacking across the country.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very small but clean. The bathroom however was too small, small I can deal with, dirty I have a problem with! Shower was filthy and the shower curtain smelled of mold. I poured the remains of a cup of coffee in the sink one morning and upon returning at night, the coffee stain was still in the sink. I don't think the maid touched the bathroom. Towels were a hot commodity and paper thin. Having said all that, I would stay at this hotel again, I would just take bathroom cleaner and towels with me!

Any traveler staying here should expect to get what they pay for. Yes, it's not a luxury hotel, but its a nice budget stay. Ideal for college students (like myself) who are simply looking for a decent place to crash at night. The location is nice, not in the center of downtown but only about a 15min walk from a metro stop. The room had a working TV with no remote, a bedside lamp and a ceiling fan with a light, working AC which kept the room nice and cool during our very hot stay. The bathroom is tiny, but if you've lived in a dorm you can manage just fine. The best part of the hotel BY FAR is they front desk service. They never hesitated to help us with our questions (and we had A LOT), they had maps to show us where to go, and even recommended places to see. The only problem is the lack of internet (there's a few cafes on the street that provide free internet) and the lack of parking, which turned out to be the biggest inconvenience. Also, someone attempted to break into my friends car. Although the area doesn't seem unsafe at all, don't trust your belongings in the car. Be sure to stop by Cafe Traiteur on Ave. Du Parc for some crepes!
