The hotel is close to the french quarter ouir main objective for this trip. I would not refer the hotel as a boutique hotel! A standard hotel without any different character than a classical one. we didn't check when booking if breakfast or not! quite strange in a boutique hotel! not expected to go outside to have it...

Safe in room inoperable. All hallways temp at about 50 degrees. Room was nice and clean.

Pros: great location, nice modern feel, comfy beds, friendly front desk. Cons: needs a vent/fan in the bathroom, valet is slow getting your car (plan to call for car 30 mins before instead of the 20mins they quote).

staff was very polite, helpful....The room was actually a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed that everything was close by. i would recommend staying there...

Staff were excellent particularly liked concierge Diana. One piece of warning though - we were charged $84 for drycleaning/laundry because we did not fill out form. Leave laundry till u get to a motel &do ur own!

Hotel was very modern and clean. rooms were a bit small but no one goes to New Orleans to stay in their hotel for long. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Definitely one of the best places I've stayed in New Orleans. Would recommend to any weekend partiers looking for a nice clean place to pass out.

The hotel was nice and the room was very clean. The only strange thing was the room had a strange layout which put the TV in an inlet. The only place you could view it was from the bed, making the Couch and desk unable to see it. Overall the hotel was nice and the location had easy access to CBD and French Quarter. The internet required an added fee, but was unacceptably slow.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Royal St. Charles. It has been renovated and looks good. Our room was very comfortable and the air conditioning was awesome which is critical in New Orleans. We usually stay n the French Quarter and this hotel is one block across Canal Street but it was very handy to the places we wanted to visit in the French Quarter. We definitely recommend the Royal St. Charles and will not hesitate to stay there again.

I've stayed in dozens of hotels in NOLA. I really like this little place. Great rate for a last minute room. Small room, but it was just me so it matched great. Thanks.

Everything was great despite a little desappointment , by the check in , i have been asked of a credit card as garanty , after 2 minutes to sign a bill of 60 dollars , 10 for each days , the 60 dollars been cashed already for a so called package deal of internet and fitness center , without let me know about . On my reservation , i was told that everything is included .

My husband and I were there to celebrate his birthday. The last time we were there, several years ago, the hotel was under maintenance. Upon our return it has really changed,but good changes. When we got there even though, someone has put us in a double room and that was incorrect , we were offered a free upgrade. Very nice room. We enjoyed our stay. We will be back.

Just no where for guest to park. Or just not telling them where to go park

I was surprised to arrive at this hotel and to be charge a $9.95 convenience charge for each night that I stayed there. The front desk staff told me it was mandatory. I had a great stay in New Orleans, despite the rain but my room had no window so I never knew when it was raining or not. Decent rooms but small.

We loved this hotel. The price was great, hotel was clean and staff was awesome. We had a blast and will go back soon!

Extremely nice staff, very accomodating. Beautiful room with a wall of windows on one side, and another huge window on an adjoining wall. Comfy bed. One block from Canal Street, a couple of blocks to Bourbon Street. My only complaint: several TV stations didn't come in and maintenance couldn't fix it. But I wasn't there to watch TV! I will stay at the Royal St Charles again.

IT WAS VERY NICE. RAQUEL AT THE FRONT DESK TOOK REALLY GOOD CARE OF US!!! THE STAFF WE ENCOUNTERED WERE WARM AND INVITING!!! I WILL STY THERE AGAIN..

While the Royal St. Charles was clean and pretty conveniently located, it didn't really offer any of the extras or amenities I'd usually associate with hotels at its price point; I actually needed one of those little sewing kits, and there weren't any in the room. That being said, the staff was really nice and the location offered access to multiple neighborhoods: The Quarter and the Marigny on foot, the Garden District, Tulane, and The Bywater via streetcar stops right outside the hotel's doors. We didn't have much use for the CBD. The room was comfortable, but the walls are paper thin. Also, any hotel with mandatory "value-added" charges (for wi-fi and phone service) gets rated down, in my opinion. Why not just figure that charge into the cost of the rooms and avoid disgruntled guests?

The location is awesome and the lobby is beautiful but the rooms are the size of a matchbox!!! We paid over $200 a night and could barely stand on the sides of the bed.

The mandatory surcharge of ~$10 which then included local/national calls and Wifi was not explained either on hotels.com nor by the clerk but the paper in the Hotel stated it.

The hotel has been renovated very cleverly. Every inch of the place was thought out precisely. The rooms are as small as you'll ever see this side of Japan. However, the design works well. Sort of cross between Ikea & Asian design. Now, the bad. The street cars pass right out in front...ALL NIGHT & DAY. IT IS LOUD & will wake you up. The other street noises actually seem quieter during the day, than at night. This place would be more appealing to stay out all night & sleep during the day. The other thing that bothered me was that I was forced to pay an extra ten dollars a day for WiFi. This was never disclosed before booking. I don't even need the WiFi, but still had to pay for it.

I wanted to check in to a hotel to cap off a great few days of staying with a friend in New Orleans. Royal St. Charles was a great value. Yeah, the queen standard room was just a bit cramped, but if you're traveling by yourself, it was just fine. Seemed to have been recently renovated and modernized, so that was nice. Housekeeping was a little annoying in the morning, not respecting my do not disturb sign, and even just letting themselves in even after I asked them to come back in an hr 5 mins before. But overall, good value, AND there's a PJ's Coffee downstairs!

I won't stay here again. I'll find another hotel to try. Night 1 I didn't sleep because the pillows they provide are stuffed to the height of about 3 pillows. The next day I requested a normal size pillow. Did I also mention the street car drove in front of my room. So I hear it all night long, every night. Then night 3 there was rain and thunder and you better believe I heard that through the paper thin walls and not sound proof windows. The rooms were clean but the staff was also a bit rude. The girl who checked me in looked bored, didn't make eye contact and was less than thrilled with her job or life in general. They have a coffee shop in the lobby but no bar to hang out at. Overall I'll try somewhere new next time.

This was quite a nice hotel. It was clean and well kept with an exceptional staff.

It was all good...small room but very neat, clean and comfortable. Will definately be on my bookmark bar for my next stay in New Orleans.

The hotel was clean and check in was easy. However there was a MANDATORY charge of $9.95 for long distance calls,the tv only goes up to channel 34, the view in the room was horrible(burnt buildings)on the 6th floor and there is no room service! Other than that the stay was ok for the price.

Hotel was clean, staff courteous, bed comfortable, with easy access to downtown. Down side: When we called the # listed and got Hotels.com, we were given misinformation. We were told there was no fee for parking ($16.00) and wireless included ($9.98). Buyer beware. Call the hotel direct with questions.

Great location, good service.

The room was clean even thought it was obvious that the cleaning wasn't still finish in the bathroom. We had to call for towels. the staff at the entrance was OK but not friendly. The hotel is clean and close to the French quarter. The street is quite noisy, even during the night. As the hotel is situated on a main street, it was quite difficult to sleep.

I booked this hotel over a few more based on price to only realized that it cost me another $52 (10 resort fee, 32 parking and 10 tip) whereas I could have just booked a much nicer place close to where I was going to begin with. The clerk was very unapologetic. Not staying here again.

Location is great, service was great, room was small but ok as long as you aren't in it much

The hotel had what I was looking for. The bed was good, the bathroom was clean and the employees at the front desk were nice.

I was disappointed to find that there's a required fee of ten dollars a night due upon check-in. In my opinion, that's a deceptive practice. One of the four nights we were there, we did not get maid service. The room was tiny, but the location was great.

I wanted something near the FQ but also close to magazine st. This was perfect! Walking distance to everything we wanted to do, and off the path enough to cut down on noise. Rooms are a bit small, but the service is great, rooms are clean, and everything seemed new. Staff was friendly and helpful. Valet service is worth it!! One complaint the elevators were always full of bell hops with huge bag carriers, I would suggest a service elevator or one for employer use only. I only say this because the elevators are pretty small. Overall a great place for the price. I would stay here again.

Great Location. Staff was great as well. We stayed many times here and will def be back.

too much furniture in our room , not too much space to chase old man around , lol

I dont spend a lot of time in my hotel when I visit NOLA. But it is still important that your hotel not get in the way, and supplement your enjoyment. This hotel does that. They have a nice easy going staff, great location for Bourbon Street, the rooms are comfy with all the amenities, except a fridge, which is a necessity if you have kids or want to hold on to leftovers. Go to Vacherie, by the way, for dinner. Awesome
