Varsity Inn OSU North - קולומבוס

My family and I usually spend a weekend every spring in Columbus for a Science Olympiad event at OSU. Last year we stayed elsewhere and it was awful! (Knights Inn to be specific). It was so nice to be back at the Varsity Inn! It is very close to OSU; quiet, clean, nice comfy beds! And the check in was effortless! Thanks Again, we'll see you next year!

It was convient to where we were going. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

The TV remote is a video game controller, I would suggest changing that.

We stayed 2 nights for an athletic event at OSU. The price was reasonable, the room very clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. It was just minutes from everywhere we wanted to go in and around OSU. The one negative was being awakened several times each night by loud guests out in the parking lot. Not sure what can be done about that since this is a "motel" style hotel where you park right outside your door. Having the fan running helped minimize this.

great stay.....try to get .......hdtv

The hotel was nothing special but was certainly adequate for a couple of days when your intent is not to spend a lot of time at the hotel. It is not a resort, but a normal highway motel for a reasonable rate.

was ok, not great checked in at 5pm and room was not ready yet. very small room, shower water pressure not good. The room was pretty clean and location was good.

Very clean room. The bed was somewhat comfortable but the springs made an annoying sound every time I rolled over. Also, the housekeeping staff entered my room at 9:00am on my check out day while I was still in bed. Unacceptable!

Parking anywhere near your room was an issue. Also, the ice machine was broken, there was only one, and no options offered other than purchasing ice elsewhere. Plus, we had to hold the handle down on our toilet for it to flush properly.

The room was clean but outdated, I had to wait two and half hours after check in time to get a room because there were none cleaned from the night before. Lock on door was broke, television did't work, shower was broken. definitely not worth the twenty dollars I saved by booking there and not somewhere else. I was really disappointed.

The reviews for this hotel have gone down since I booked my stay. It was the weekend of the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, and I don't think the hotel staff had ever experienced that much traffic. Only major complaints were that a room was not ready when I arrived(about 5:15pm), and the ice machine did not work. Otherwise the facility seemed well maintained.

I've read some of the other negative reviews, but we had a very positive experience. Stayed two nights, with great customer service. The room was clean and it was quiet. The service people at front desk went out of their way to answer our multitude of questions. Pleasant and lovely. I will return.

The hotel was quiet and in a good location...a few good restaurants within a few minutes walk. We walked to the football game and it took approximately 25 minutes.

Close to where I needed to go

The hotel was okay--the chair in the room was worn, perhaps should have been replaced awhile ago. Also, the hair dryer had only one speed working. It was okay for what we needed it for, though.

Acrtually, we didn't stay - we left after our event at The Schott because my husband didn't want to stay there because it just wasn't up to his standards of cleanliness. The carpet was very dirty and the rest just didn't look that clean either. We checked in in the afternoon, and checked out at 10:00 p.m.

Very pleasant, but the TV didn't work well.

Over priced for what it offers. No towels for pool. Vending machines were not air conditioned. Had kids who wanted candy, it was half melted. Staff wasn't friendly at all. We stayed in three hotels on this trip. This was by far the worse!

The Varsity Inn North was our base of operations for four nights on a visit to our home town. It's very conveniently located and is minutes from most central Columbus destinations. If your reason for visiting is in Upper Arlington, Grandview, Clintonville, or any area related to the north central part of the city you won't find anything as quick at this price. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was very basic but comfy and the place couldn't hurt from remodel but I'd imagine the price would spike. I'd stay there again. Not a sidewalk area but you can walk to a very good Mexican restaurant called El Vaquero or Rooster's Wings. They're both 100 yards away. Other than that you have to hope in the car. It'd be a long walk but you could hoof it to Ohio Stadium if you wanted.

With in walking distance to several restaurant & close to OSU

It needs a work. Only stayed one night, then moved next store to a Hilton which was spotless.

I've stayed here before and both times the toilet actually had been visibly used and not flushed! Wow- the housekeeper? The rest of the stay was fine and it's a great location- ok price

Beds weren't that comfortable. Booked nonsmoking room and got a smoking room, although they did switch it for us the next day. Hotel was convenient but paper thin walls

I booked this hotel room with my boyfriend because we were in town to see a show at the OSU Schottenstein center. We picked this place because it was inexpensive and close, and while it is by no means a luxury hotel, it suited our needs perfectly. Fairly clean, even though we stayed in a smoking room and a convenient location. My only complaint is that housekeeping barged into our door at 8:00am despite our having told them it was not necessary, but really, not a big deal.

Manager could not remember his computer passwords so it took fifteen minutes to check in. Other than that, everything was fine.

At a minimum, this hotel has 50 rooms. During the nights I stayed there in mid-January 2012 only 10 or so were occupied. Despite the low occupancy, I was assigned a room immediately next to two other people staying there, with no empty rooms in between. This location allowed me to fully appreciate the shadiness and shiftiness of the characters who reside there. To my left was a younger man who had no car, but about 50 different cars pulled up in front of his room and visited him for short intervals throughout the 2 full days I stayed there. Anytime I went to my car, or opened the door to my own room, the shady guy would instantly open his door, stick out only his head, look quickly left and right, and then quickly slam the door shut. He repeated this same process every time a noise happened outside of his room, to the point of being robotic (or neurotic, take your pick). There were apparently people staying above me as well, although they too did not have a vehicle parked in front of their room. A number of people went into and out of that room above, but they never approached with a vehicle. Sometimes there was loud (but muffled and unintelligible) talking, sometimes there were rhythmic banging noises that I could hear through the ceiling, and in the middle of the night (both nights during my stay) there was loud, hysterical, cackling laughter. I will let you draw your own conclusions about this hotel from the observations posted here. I have made my decision that I will never return to this hotel, nor will I allow any friends or family to ever stay their either. The only reason why I booked this hotel was because I confused it with the University Plaza hotel just down Olentangy River Road—I won't make that mistake again.

needed a nice place place Close to OSU Med. This is the place to be.

enjoyed the room and bed was comfortable. not usually comfortable sleeping away from home but this bed was quite good for the cost of the room. the biggest problem I had was the walk to the stadium was 3 miles, not the 1 mile in their advertisement.

My fiancee and I were in town for a night to check out OSU and Columbus. We were very pleased with the overall comfort of the room, the staff was all very friendly and took time to tell us about Columbus, how to get around. The hotel is near campus, and there is a pretty good mexican restaurant right next door. The room was a good price and I would definitely stay here again.

Nice, clean, quiet, good neighborhood, goog rate. Will stay there again.
