The staff was very friendly and having the refrigerator and snacks to purchase in the lobby made it very helpful with a preschooler along for the trip. The room was extremely clean, queen beds were comfortable and the morning breakfast was delicious.

We enjoyed stayng here very much. The hotel has all the amenities you can think of, the rooms are well-appointed and the rooms were pristine as all the other amenities. The breakfast was more than they promised, but unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the location: it is near a freeway on an extremely busy corner, the good shops and boutiques in 23 rd Strre much too far as was the busstop. We had really thought that if you say "downtown " we are talking of true downtown - nearer the sights tourists are interested in.

The staff and accommodations were excellent prior to coming down, we spoke to the desk attendant, asking what bus to take to get there. she put us on hold and went to the end of the block to find out the bus number for us. they were great, we will be back at this place again.

The hotel was great. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic, within walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, coffee, etc. The pool is a nice bonus. Great hotel for a great price. Would definitely stay again.

The stay was not good at all and the staff was not helpful at all ,we are canadians visiting portland for the weekend and we will never stay or book or recommend this Hotel to any of my friends or family.

I booked this room for a couple of nights. I was coming into Portland, and friends were meeting me that were also coming into Portland. It was a bit away from our event, however, I've always found Holiday Inn Express hotels to be very consistently nice. Nothing fancy, but a nice place to stay. The desk staff were the only thing positive about this hotel. At night, I was afraid to walk 15 feet from the front door to the store next door. However, the worst part came AFTER check in. Check in was super friendly and very helpful. I received my keys, got on the elevator and my opinion started going down hill. The elevator sounded like it was on it's last cable. The door opened and the walls had paint covering wall paper with joint compound still fresh. Plaster on the carpets. Wall lights were hanging from their mounts. The hallway smelled like some horrible curry. It looked like the hotel had just survived an earthquake. The entire stay, workers continued to work in the hallways, renovating the hotel. GUESS WHAT? I don't want to pay $120 for a hotel room while you renovate your hotel. Put customers on another floor and close the floor being rehabiltated. When my friends arrived, I was embarrassed that I had booked a hotel room for the weekend that looked like a war zone. Let's just say, they won't let me book the hotel on the next trip. I will be forwarding the photos and comments to Holiday Inn.

The hotel was more or less a construction site as the wall paper got renewed. The elevator was very slow, better to take the stairs. Gym and pool ok. Convenient free parking. Close to 23rd, nice shopping area.

Holiday Inn Express is the best value for money you could choose for a stay in Portland with its proximity to the city, with its free parking, free internet and breakfast. The rooms are clean and neat with many TV channels you can choose to watch. Staff were extremely helpful. Heating was great too. The hotel was undergoing a wall paper change over but didn't affect the comfort at all.

Hotel was clean and newer, very comfortable. They are in the middle of a remodel so hallways are in mid transformation but there was no construction noise or hassle. Wish we had brought our swimsuits to use the pool, nice amenity. We like the free and easy parking being slightly out of the heart of things with easy access by walking and public transportation. This hotel is northwest of the Pearl district and downtown and right on NW 23rd, one of the great eating and shopping districts of the city.

Stay was great! Bed was super comfortable. Street car pick up was only a few blocks away. Only bad part was that it rained all weekend and you can't blame the hotel for that!

really enjoyed stay at this place. The staff were very helpful, and went out of their way to help! Really made my visit to Portland enjoyable.

Wonderful front desk help, great amenities and convenient location in Portland with free parking. Room was clean and spacious-only downside was that sound carried very easily and the alarm clock would buzz occasionally-nothing huge and not enough to take away from the whole experience. Highly recommended!

Good value and clean, comfortable place to stay.

It was just fine.

They did quick bathroom renovation, and air inside of room was really bad when we checked in at 5 pm. Tried to as if other room available, but front desk staff didn't really want to solve that issue by suggesting us to go out first. My point is I should have been noticed when check-in.

It was a nice stay except someone was smoking weed and it was making US sick

Planned on working in my room. Wireless didn't work on my tablet at all. Had to call tech support to get connected on laptop, which worked for a short time. Very disappointed, Internet is a must.

Great morning breakfast, all day coffee and tea. New comfortable rooms w/ LCD TV, lots of channels, microwave, fridge. WOW. I'll be back.

Worst hotel experience I've ever had. My job required significant travel, so I'm familiar with hotel cleanliness and service and this was not a good experience.

Loved the hotel. Very comfortable bed and large room. Convenient to highway and an easy walk to shops and restaurants,. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel great price great location, gonna stay again next time for Sure!

We had a very positive experience, we will definitely return to this spot.

This was our second trip to Portland, and we were there to take in a soccer game at Jeld-Wen Arena. We found the hotel very easily, and we were greeted by two very friendly ladies. They checked us in quickly, and had us to our room in very short order. They offered information about the surrounding area, and gave us tips on shopping and eating. I would stay here again, and probably will on the next trip. 23rd is a very fun street to walk up and down!

It was good. Nice to have breakfast available but quality of the eggs, whether scrambled or omelette is horrible. This seems to be the same at all Holiday Inn Expresses, where I usually prefer to stay. The coffee and cinnamon buns are excellent though.

Excellent place to stay..very clean and the BEST breakfast and its free. We stayed at a five star in pdx the week before and paid 100.00 more for a room that was awful in comparison. We Will stay here again. Pienaar family

Everything was very nice, well maintained, the staff was friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. My only complaint (and I did not ask, which is my problem), is that they needed softer pillows - mine were all too firm and it screwed up my neck and shoulders. With that exception, it was great for both location and comfort.

Nice hotel in a good location on Portland's NW side. Plenty of dinning and shopping clse by on 23rd Street. Hotel is a typical HIE with a friendly staff.

It was quiet, clean, well managed, no hidden fees for parking or wireless. All you could ask for and more. . Pool was warm, breakfast was plentiful and great quality, they even used compostable plates and service. Great Hotel. Would stay again.

Excellent except that despite the hotel policy of saving water and energy by re-using towels, our towels were replaced every day. Great neighbourhood close to NW 23rd Ave - very funky.

The rooms are small but nicely furnished and clean. The towels are fluffy. The breakfast was a little above average. It is on two bus lines, so it was fairly easy to get around Portland without a car. We stayed here because the hotel offered rooms at special rates for runners participating in a marathon or half-marathon nearby. However, they would not extend our check-out time beyond noon. This made our post-race departure hurried and unpleasant. Any hotel that agrees to be designated a race hotel should expect to extend check-out times by 2-3 hours to accommodate marathoners.

Stayed for three nights while visiting our daughter. Hotel was very clean, staff was helpful and it was the most economical choice for us. Parking was free and a hot breakfast included in the price. Location was fine..just minutes to get downtown. Pool and hot tub were especially nice after a long flight.

The room size is generous and the free breakfast was decent. The location made sense for me and was at the very end of 23rd. However, anywhere north of there seemed rather industrial. Staff at the desk was friendly.

The hotel was very nice, I'm definitely enjoying the breakfasts that Holiday Inn Expresses have. And the beds were pretty comfortable (which is a big plus for my bad back) The overall consistent quality of the hotels and services in this chain will definitely see me visiting again.

It is very convenient to the street where many restaurants are located. You don't need a car and you can use the public streetcar to get to downtown and places of interests. Ask the streetcar driver about fares as not much info. is published about it. The daily pass is very reasonable. The free internet connection in the hotel is great. The complimentary breakfast is better than we thought it would be. The free parking is an added bonus. Overall, we had a great stay and will definitely consider booking with this Holiday Inn should we come to Portland again.
