Albatros Airport Hotel - Moerfelden-Walldorf

This is an "airport" hotel, and when I checked in at 2200, I asked that the hotel call a taxi to be there at 0415. The woman on duty said this would be done. When I checked out at 0415, there was no taxi because the person who checked me in did not write it on the list. The man on duty had to call a taxi which took 15 minutes to arrive. Due to the hotel's failure in this basic request, I would never recommend it to anyone.

General hotel ambiance is very communist-era cement, cinder-block, and tacky wall hangings. Only thing, there was no communism in Frankfurt Germany. Overpriced. Quality is akin to a low-end Motel 6 in a bad neighborhood. Tree Euros for the wifi. Slower than dial-up. NOT FREE as advertised. Antiquated system of issuing a slip of paper with a password. Fuzzy TV on all channels. Elevator is old, slow, and filthy. Check-in process was third-word. Papers to fill out. Bathroom was dirty and room smelled of cigarette smoke. Shower was like a old college dorm. Soap dish had crusted residue. Shower nozzle was encrusted. Location is okay for an airport hotel, and there's a shuttle from FRA Airport. A few little restaurants nearby. Front desk never once answered the telephone when I called from the room. Twice I had to walk down to reception. Find another place. I don't recommend spending more than 120 USD on this bad hotel. Room Tip: Insist on a non-smoking room. Check the room first, before accepting it.

The hotel is a little out of the way and located in an industrial area. The shuttle fee to the airport is 5€ per person. There is a good restaurant next door called AVOCADO. However, for the price paid - I found that when I rebooked for the RAMADA hotel (4 star) I had a better deal in that room rate was the same and shuttle was free. So, I would recommend the RAMADA over the Albatros.

We enjoyed our short stay. Th staff was vwery helpful and i would even say accomidating to our needs. We had an early flight and they allowed us to have breakfast early. Great people all around.

I'm glad the Albatros wasn't an Albatross. Good price and close to FRA airport. There is a charge for the hotel shuttle. For 1/2 the price you can take a bus that is located a block away from the hotel that goes to FRA. Rooms were ok. Unfortunately when I was there the internet was not working. I was very pleased with the breakfast which was free. Overall good for a night.

I was to have come with a friend but due to medical reasons, she could not come, so... I was alone,my first time in Berlin. Great location. It's close enough to the airport so a taxi was affordable. The kitchenette was great. Kaiser grocery store is just across the street with a bakery and a chicken rotisserie place; so I stocked up and it was like being home. A great fruit and vegetable store is just down the next block. I spent a week in Greece on a tour so I got to use the laundry to was my clothes. I got to sleep in when I wanted but if I had to be up early, I was able a fix a quick breakfast and go. I would definitely go back.

We were disappointed first of all by the distance from the airport. Base on what is said on the site, we were expecting it to be closer. Then, on the site it is said free Internet. We were given 30 minutes free and not one site could be opened during this 30 minutes. We had to be at the airport at 5:15am, we had to pay 25€ to a taxi because it was too early for the shuttle. However, we were pleased to be able to have coffee and a light breakfast at 4:45 am.

It was ok for one night, the staff were very helpful, but it was in a pretty poor part of town, very industrial.

The only downside was that at the airport when I called they did not aanswer the phone. A second call was not answered--so t took too long to get the shuttle, But once it arrived, everything was fine.

Very far from Frankfurt city. Cost us Euro28 per way to get to Frankfurt. Bed & pillow not comfortable at all. Can't sleep all night because of the uncomfortable bed & pillow. Room is quite warm, no air cond or fan. No coffee tea making facilities. However, friendly staff at reception. Fast check in.

It was OK for the price - just a quick overnight between flights. The biggest disappointment was NO AIR CONDITIONING! I didn't remember seeing that information online when I booked this hotel.

I guess German hotels don't have air conditioning be/c the Comfort inn didn't either which was down the street. They did put in a fan for me that had a higher speed. This helped alot. I slept well. Really clean and beautiful bathroom. I highly recommend it.

we loved our overnight stay at this hotel. the hotel doesnt look that great on the outside but its nice on the inside in every way. our room wasnt flash but it was adequate with a very comfortable bed, the breakfast was excellent with the best scrambled eggs you will ever eat!! the staff are wonderful. very helpful and very kind. 2 doors along is a thai restaurant that serves delicious food and very cheap, my husband and i got a duck noodle dish that was huge and it was fortunate that we only ordered one dish as we werent that hungry and we were flat out eating this dish. And it was only 6 euros. we are going to return to this hotel for our flight out to the US.

Very convenient distance from airport, though not much to in the surrounding area. Problem with shuttle arriving on time at airport but shuttles from hotel to airport very helpful. Nice breakfast and very clean rooms.

Clean rooms but stinky elevator, seems like someone vomited on floor. Breakfast was substantial, male staff not friendly, no parking.

A good airport hotel for one or two nights. Good rate too. Convenient airport shuttle.

Parking is a problem. Finding the place, first time, a challenge. Breakfast above average. Staff pleasant, but little they could or did do when someone parked in a way to block access to the parking garage - a pain when raining! Sparce room, though adequate. No refer or microwave or extra pillows or alarm clock or radio. Price more attractive than many hotels/motels right at hotel, but to say it's an "airport" hotel is deceptive.

Great hotel if you have an overnight stop at the airport. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Shuttle service to/ from the airport is 5 euro pp and you need to call them when you get there. We had to wait about 40 min though. Overall good place for a good price. Recommended.

The staff were very helpful. Make sure to ask about ride from airport to hotel when you book. Otherwise you will pay too much for a taxi.

Hotel Albatross was a very good hotel to spend an overnight between flights. The shuttle service was very good, staff was friendly, the room clean, and restful, excellent breakfast with a large selection of items, and a restaurant on site. We would recommend staying here if you have to spend and overnight in Frankfurt, for the price and quality you couldn't get a better place.

my family has stayed at this hotel twice to ease arrival at Frankfurt for a morning international flight. The price is right, the breakfast is good and filling, and there is a shuttle which drops you right off at the airport. The only thing I would recommend is that they have a scale available with weights in pounds and kilograms for checking bags prior to departure and that they get an updated gate listing, we had to hoof it from terminal B to terminal A cause they dropped us off at the wrong one.

Friendly staff very helpful. I highly recommend. It is about 10 minutes to Airport.

This is a value hotel, its an excellent transit hotel through Frankfurt for only 50 Euro (including RT shuttle). There is a larger shopping center only about 5-10 min walk away. The internet was spotty but it did work well once you got a solid signal. Breakfast was small but decent, bed was comfortable, TV was flat screen and some rooms have a fridge. There is no A/C though so I would hesitate before staying here in the summer but the rest of year works well. 2 star accommodations but 4 star value.

We chose the hotel for airport location with wi-fi and breakfast. We were well satisfied on all counts.

We were thankful we had a place to stay before our return flight to the US but we were not satisfied with this hotel. The smell in the hallways and elevator was disgusting. There was no one who could speak English so our friends could not connect with us (no we didn't have cell phones with us) We were not contacted when our bag arrived from the airport - we just "saw" it behind the counter. Our room was located in the rear of the hotel and it was VERY loud (there is a night club right behind hotel). We HAD to have our window open because of how hot it was that evening so the noise kept us up all night. The only thing I would recommend was the food they served for their breakfast - fresh croissants and coffee!

The hotel is clean and was quiet. Room furnishings were minimal--the bed, 3 straightback chairs and writing desk with TV. The night clerk spoke neither English or German well but tried to be helpful. Neither driver, to and from, the airport was friendly. The morning clerk acted like she had a very bad night and while efficient she was unable to smile. When we checked out we said we would like a shuttle to the airport to which she replied, "well you can't have it---it is not here. Sit over there".

The hotel is clean and comfortable, close to the airport and has a restaurant, which is convenient. The big problem is that while the hotel has a shuttle service, they are not listed on the airport hotel shuttle board where you can easily call them. You have to have their phone number and call them on your own to come pick you up, which is a problem if you are an international traveler and your cell phone doesn't work in Germany. And their wi-fi wasn't working when I was there, and for a business traveler that is not a good thing.

I would use the Albatros again for a short stopover between a late arriving evening and an early departing morning flight. Good points were a clean and functional bathroom, a reasonable bed to sleep in with breakfast included, useful free Wi-Fi that I used in the ground floor areas (but too weak to use in my bedroom) and a restaurant that was open until late next door. For the discounted price I paid for B&B plus an extra charge for the roundtrip shutte charge this hotel provided the basic, short stopover, accommodation that I needed. I would use it again if I am in the same situation. One needs to be aware that to catch the shuttle bus from Frankfurt airport to the Alabtros hotel you need to ring the hotel on arrival to ask to be picked up. Therefore it is very important to know the hotel's telephone number in advance. Many of the airport hotels (particularly the large and more expensive ones) pick up on a regular schedule without being telephoned and most of the hotels pick up at the Frankfurt arrivals exit. The Alabatros is one of the hotels that picks up on the Frankfurt DEPARTURES entrance level which is on the floor level ABOVE the arrivals exit. level. I rang the hotel and was picked up at the departures point in the location "C7". The letter "C" is well-signposted but the "7" is written on the inside of the departures (entrance) to the airport and isn't so easy to spot. The shuttle bus from the Alabatros picked me up at C7 within 15 minutes of my telephoning the hotel and it seemed to be a 10 to 15 minute journey (I am guessing probably about 4 or 5 km). The pick up was free and then I paid when I booked the hotel's shuttle back to the airport next morning. Five euros for the shuttle roundtrip was a reasonable additional cost, for a hotel in the lower end of the B&B price range, compared to two taxi fares. The booking process was efficient and the staff were helpful. However you do need to know the hotel telephone number in advance and wait in the correct pl

Very convenient location and shuttle service to airport for 5 euros. The breakfast was fine. The room was comfortable and clean. My one major gripe was that I had clearly stated in my reservation that I wanted a non-smoking room, but was put into a smoking room. It was quite late when I checked in, and I had an early morning flight, so I was too tired to complain and ask for another room when I had already dragged 2 suitcases to the top floor. However, this was very annoying and made it difficult for me to sleep well, as the entire room (including the bathroom) smelled strongly of smoke.

Everything in the hotel was just fine for our stay except for the man at the front desk. He was rude, arrogant and didn't seem to care for Americans to much. I would recommended this hotel to others but most of the people I know are Americans and I did not feel welcome. Every time we talked to him it really seemed to be putting him out. He didn't like us but he sure likes our money. He made the stay a bad one. He was on the desk at the time we checked in. To bad it is a nice hotel.

I was very disappointed with the hotel, the beds were not made, there was just a comforter on the bed. Very plain, no pictures on the walls. They did not subscribe to any English language T.V. program. We asked for a wakeup call that never came. We were to get breakfast at 4:45 AM before the shuttle came at 5:30 am we got nothing !! After we came away from the hotel in the morning we were scratching our legs from some sort of bites. The hotel was cheap, but you get what you pay for.

NOT close to the airport. Additionally, you need to schedule a shuttle pick up, it doesn't just run like all other hotel shuttles. When I scheduled my shuttle to the airport from the hotel, they did not record it the first time I asked. I had to reschedule my shuttle to the airport.

The hotel listing on hotel.com does not disclose that the hotel charges 5 Euros for using the hotel van. So, add 10 Euros to the price of the reservation for two people. The hotel is not located at the airport so requires a small drive to the next town (ergo the requirement to take a taxi, for more then the 5 Euro cost of using the hotel van). The hotel is situated in a residential neighborhood so my wife and I felt safe in walking before dinner. We eat dinner in the restaurant that is next door to the hotel. The food is billed a Mediterranean but the chef adds in his own cultural twist that we very much enjoyed. The restaurant staff is very friendly and helpful.i would be pleased to eat there again.

We stayed 1 night and, for the price, it would be hard to beat. The rooms are very simple but clean and the beds comfortable. The selection at breakfast was not large, but more than enough to get us going. Would certainly stay again but only for a few nights.

The hotel was very close to Frankfurt airport, reasonable price and adequate for an overnight stay. I would stay again if I needed a hotel for a night between connecting flights.
