Anchorage Downtown Hotel - אנקורג'

The wall are really thin, so you can hear child and adult noises on your floor. Other than that, the hotel is excellent for the price.

The bed in my room was out of this world. Between it and the pillows I slept great. Minus the 11 PM phone call from the front desk one night b/c they couldn't get my credit card to run for parking charge. They had transposed numbers, no problem but 11 PM! Really! Also, house keeping was lacking. I went to make coffee the first morning and found the filter and coffee from the previous guest in it. I stayed four nights and they never once took care of the coffee pot or restocked the creamer, sugar, ect. I left a pizza box next to the trash can since it didn't fit and they didn't take it with. When I first checked in I had to wait an hour to get my room key because the desk clerk was on a shuttle run. The sign said to call a special number, the first time no one answered. It also said the wait would be no more than 20 minutes. After driving 7 hours I really wanted in my room. So overall, it's not awful. My room didn't have the prettty wall painting like the website showed but it was still a quaint little room.

bathrooms are very small. need to reorganize room set up so that the refrigerator isn't in the way of getting around in the room. parking is too expensive, no one else is using the spots so why are they charging so much, would keep me from going back if I can get the same price somewhere else and not have to pay. the include breakfast doesn't start until 8 so if you are on an early schedule you are out of luck.

it was nice and quiet and comfortable

Very nice hotel staff, unique rooms, easy to find, close to all the downtown attractions, quiet. I was surprised at having to pay to park at the hotel which would be my only negative feedback. Other than that, it was a great experience for the price.

We liked everything about the hotel except the mattress was a little soft. Perhaps they have some that are more firm and we will ask for one next time. Other than that it was a great place to stay at a great price.

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Anchorage Downtown Hotel. The decor is absolutely charming and the beds are reasonably comfortable, but I am afraid that is where my positive feedback ends. My room was dreadfully cold, and I suspect this must often be the case, as I located a space heater in my closet during the night while in search of additional blankets, of which there were none. Initially, I had no qualms about the dimunitive dimensions of the room, but the scant amount of floor space was then further depreciated by the bulk of the heater. After a very restless night of feeling like Goldie Locks in a room that was alternatingly too cold or too hot, I headed down to the lobby area for some breakfast. After making my selections from the meager fare, I returned to my room and decided to hazard the shower. It leaked everywhere. I think it is worth mentioning that the bathrooms are not equiped with hair dryers, which I found to be somewhat troublesome as I ventured out into the 20 something degree fahrenheit. Oh, and if one should catch a cold, I found it inconvenient that the room was not stocked with kleenex. I did voice my concerns to the manager on duty as I was checking out, and he stated that he would look into them. Perhaps the next traveller will have a more pleasant stay than my own. As it is, I would not return for another night.

Rooms are small but clean, very tight for 2 adults & luggage (1 case each). No lift, so carrying heavy bags up 3 floors of stairs was a big effort. Lucky we are fit or it would have been near impossible. The bathrooms are very tired and badly need an upgrade. Probably a bit expensive for what it was. The photos on the net make it look a lot better than in reality! The staff however were very friendly and helpful.

Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast, wi-fi were great but the best surprise was the free shuttle to the airport for hotel guests really topped it. Room was nice although the bathroom could do with an upgrade. Will stay here again in the future.

Room was extremely small - really too small for 2 people. Breakfast was sparse, but ok. Evening wine advertised in brochure was non-existent. Bead was comfortable and room did have nice touches like refrig, microwave and flat screen tv.

They do have free airport shuttle anytime. Staff was friendly. Close to downtown . Would stay again. Bathroom was dated but clean. Next to park area.

We got into Anchorage in the middle of the night but a day early for meeting our Princess tour to Denali. Rates at this motel were much more reasonable than at the Capt. Cook. There was a continental breakfast and it was a 3 block walk with luggage when it was time to check in at the Capt. Cook. Rooms were very clean and everyone very friendly and helpful;.

My first impression of this hotel was 'My! this is certainly overpriced!' as the hotel was old and room looked like you could have been staying in a teenager girls bedroom. That said, it was remarkably comfortable with a staff that made the stay exceptionally pleasurable. The staff could not have been more thoughtful, helpful and considerate. I would stay here again in a minute!

Initial contact at front desk was unfriendly. The quality of service is poor. We were unable to walk in room it was too tight, only a bed and small dresser in room with TV. We had to stand up in room --no place to sit except the bed. A large stain was on the carpet. The bedspread had a foul odor. The bathroom was tiny. I would not suggest anyone stay at this hotel.

We stayed 2 nights. The hotel is old and smells old. It needs new carpets and a good cleaning. I would not stay here again.

I always stay here when I visit Anchorage from my home elsewhere in Alaska. Best deal, nicer beds than most of the biggies downtown, very pleasant service.

The hotel itself is tucked between an office building and some type of rental property that seemed to have multiple people staying there. View from my room was a small parking lot. Rooms are quite small, but acceptable. Was expecting this to be a bit closer to downtown. So, while it is walkable, it's a bit far and not much between the hotel and downtown. Small continental breakfast was included - the bags of bagels were still unopened, and trying to get them open with small plastic knife was a bit difficult. Overall, I was a bit disappointed and thought it was overpriced for what I got.

Reasonable comfort considering 4 mo tourist season (price should be 1/3 comparing to similar hotels in NYS or 1/2 for downtown location). Minor details matter - no hooks in bathrooms, no chairs, and similar. Good - quality TV, free Internet, complementary breakfast.

A lovely little hotel with a near perfect location downtown Anchorage. An easy walk to central locations I town. A nice and clean cosy little hotel.

In addition to the downtown location and price, other positive amenities include free on-site parking, WiFi, and continental breakfast. However, the maintenance of the room was poor. For instance, the boiler went out and was not repaired for over 24 hours, the vent/fan in the bathroom was held in place by tape, the heating vents were deformed, etc... There was also limited staff, which resulted in a 20-minute wait for check-in because personnel were conducting business offsite.

The hotel was well maintained- definitely a boutique hotel, which I like. The comforter in our room had some stains on it and the hot water heater went out, but was back on at 10am.

I've twice stayed at the Anchorage Downtown hotel. The rooms are VERY small, no desk or even a chair, but the place is clean, reasonably quiet, w/ a fridge, good sized flat screen TV, ironing board . . . Certainly a good deal for the money. I'll stay with them again when I return next spring. There is a fee to park your car in their back lot, ($7 a day when I've been there) but that might be common for hotels in downtown Anchorage. Still, figure it into your budget. Also the continental breakfast is pretty lean on any sort of proteins. Mostly bread, muffins, bagels, and sometimes fruit.

For the price, this place was fine. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable, and a walking distance from down town.

This hotel is very small quaint and quite near the shopping and sites of downtown Anchorage. The staff are very helpful with questions and transportation.

I spent a little over a week in Anchorage at this hotel. The price was very reasonable and it showed in the service. Their front desk wasn't always manned and even when it was, you would walk in to find the employee watching the tv or in the office and with no bell or anything to get their attention with would get annoying at times. Also, the bedding has to be cleaned or get new bedding. Same goes for the bathrooms, they are old and need to be renovated fairly bad.

We loved our stay at the Anchorage Downtown Hotel. Our room was small, but cozy. We loved the comfortable king sized bed and the flat screen tv to watch movies. It was clean, quiet, and close to dowtown. I typically do not sleep well in motels/hotels, but I slept great here. The rates were reasonable and we will definately return. Thanks!

A small comfortable hotel with plenty of shelf and drawer space. Great soft and comfortable beds bigger than regulation size. Rooms are a little on the smaller side but who comes to Alaska to stay in the hotel room.

It's within easy walking distance of downtown, excellent (for fee) pick-up service from the airport. An good budget motel with helpful staff.

This is the perfect budget hotel for Downtown Anchorage- you get a tiny room for 1/2 the price of the competition. The facility is clean, the staff were friendly, and most importantly, I could walk to my downtown destinations comfortably. Two things that I would note: 1) they charge $7 for parking, but part of the parking lot belongs to a government office and is free parking on weekends. 2) the walls are not sound proof

Close to all the action. A few blocks to the convention center, close to very nice resturants, and very easy to get to. I will stay again!!

The room was really cute and had plenty of room for us. The guy at the front desk was really helpful and welcoming. The bed was quite possibly the most comfortable thing I've slept on in my entire life - I had a hard time getting out of it in time for checkout. This is a nice, quiet hotel that's close to everything downtown for a great price.

The hotel was ok, the room was clean. We did not like the parking they had to offer because it was very hard to park a truck in its u shaped parking lot that was only for about 10 cars. We were also suprised that there was a charge for parking.

I like this hotel and the service, i would recommend it to anyone...i just wish that they give u discount if u want late check out especially went you stay there over and over again..that is my only concern but nice hotel and excellent service Abdou

Even though the hotel was quite old, it was still clean and quaint. Rooms were on the small side, but decorated nice and convenient.

The parking lot was very small

Its a terrible place to stay -its dirty and uncared for and it needs an up grade in staff-it would be a nice place to stay -------if they would bother to run it properly.

The Anchorage Downtown Hotel is a nice hotel with cozy rooms, that for the price you are paying for the room cannot be beat anywhere! The rooms each have a floral pattern hand painted on the back wall, which is a nice addition above the queen sized bed. The room is well lit and felt comfortably warm at all points during the day. Each room has a large LCD TV, 47" or bigger with cable and HBO package. The front desk attendant is very helpful and kindly showed us to our room when we arrived. While it doesn't have extravagant additions such as a pool in the hotel or jacuzzis in the rooms, for the price you are paying for the hotel, you will not find a better deal anywhere in Anchorage.

This is one of the best hotels i have been...the service is wonderful very nice customer service...i will go back again and again

The hotel was cute and homier than a regular hotel. Very close to the train station and walking distance to downtown and less expensive than other named hotels. There were two issues....our room was really hot. There was a fan in the room (obviously they know it's hot) but no climate controls that we could see. The other weird thing was that the bed blocked about half of the bathroom doorway.

Very friendly staff [Counter Clerks and the Cleaning/Maintenance Personell]. I will be staying at this Hotel during my next visit to Alaska. This was one of the best Hotels that I've stayed in. It had sort of a Bed & Breakfast feel to it. Awesome!!! Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. There was also a very nice park to take an evening stroll in right across the street.

I was surprised by how awesome this hotel turned out to be! Great staff & service driver, Bily Ray from the airport to front desk help, & the owner Chad. Complimentary Breakfast, bottled water, coffee adds a nice little touch. So many places try to nickle and dime you. I have been to over 30 countries... This definitely was most convenient, friendly, & comfortable hotel at a great price. I'm so glad Captain Cook was booked. I discovered my new favorite place!!! I was traveling with my dad who is a senior citizen who uses a cane. Only negative? There is no elevator. Ask for a room closest to the front desk.

This is an expertly run hotel at very reasonable cost. Free downtown parking. We met perhaps six staff members and they were all knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I would encourage my friends to choose this hotel.
