צוות המלון Opal עשה מעל ומעבר והדפיס לנו את כרטיסי העלייה למטוס שלנו והעניק לנו שירות לקוחות מצוין.

לחדר שלנו היה ריח מעופש. כמו של מגבת רטובה שלא התייבשה לגמרי. הקירות דקים מאוד, אפשר לשמוע את השכנים מדברים בחדרם. המיקום היה נחמד, ארוחת הבוקר הייתה בסדר, והחניה הייתה נוחה, אבל בסך הכול, אני לא אשהה כאן שוב.

שהיתי כאן באמצע השבוע למטרות עסקיות. צוות העובדים היה חברותי ומועיל עד אין קץ. זה אחד מהמלונות הותיקים יותר והמזוהים ביותר עם סן פרנסיסקו. אם לא שהיתם באחד כזה, אתם חייבים לנסות; מאוד שונה מלשהות במלון רשת ענק. החדר היה נקי ומתוחזק היטב. אני אחזור בהחלט.

שירות מעולה, מיקום נוח, חניה צדדית בטוחה, טעימות יין בימי רביעי, אוירה של פעם, לילה שקט, סך הכל מאוד מומלץ!

המלון היה נחמד מאוד ונקי, החדרים היו קטנים אבל נעימים, והמיקום מושלם לביקור באתרים. חלק מצוות המלון היה קצת מתנשא לפעמים, אבל כן עזר לי עם כל מה שהצטרכתי. גם ארוחת הבוקר הייתה קצת סתמית, וכללה יוגורט, קפה וצנימים, אבל ארוחת הערב של המלון מפצה על זה ביותר.מקום נהדר ביחס למחיר ואמליץ עליו בהחלט. :) נ.ב - צפו לשלם הרבה עבור חניית הרכב שלכם. אני מייעץ לא לחנות כאן את רכבכם כי זה יקר בטירוף. לכו במקום זה לחניון ברח' O'Farrell.

נוח מאוד, נקי, סוויטה גדולה עם כורסא להתרגעות. קרוב לקווי האוטובוס, וחניון טוב במלון. ארוחת הבור רק מספקת, ואין בחדרים מקרר. אשהה כאן שוב בלי ספק. סביר ביותר.

מלון נחמד ופשוט, אבל צוות המטבח לא היה כל כך גמיש, תכננתי לצאת מוקדם בבוקר ובקשתי ארוחת בוקר קלה מוקדמת ולא נענו לבקשתי. למזלי, צוות הקבלה היה מאוד מתחשב וביקש מאחראי המטבח לתת לי קצת לחם לקחת איתי באוטובוס לנסיעה הארוכה לפארק יוסמיטי.

המלון הזה אינו מהודר בשום צורה ואתם מקבלים את מה ששילמתם עליו. אבל בסך הכול זה שווה את הכסף. זה מלון זול והחדרים והשירות טובים באופן כללי. חלל הפנים מיושן משהו אבל עדיין במצב טוב. נקי וקרוב ליוניון סקוור. מושלם לביקור קצר בסן פרנסיסקו.

אני לא בטוח אם זה בגלל שהחדר היה מבודד או שזה בגלל שהיינו כל כך עייפים מלילה של אכילה ושתיה מרובה, אבל הופתענו להירדם טוב כל כך כאן. המלון נמצא ממש מעבר לכביש מהבר של טומי (אתם חייבים לטעום את הפסטרמה תוצרת הבית שלהם) ומחובר למסעדה של מל, זה מאוד נוח. האמת שאין כל כך על מה להתלונן, מלבד שכשבאנו לעזוב את המלון, היו בערך שלושה אנשי צוות מאחורי הדלפק, ולא היה אף אחד מלפנינו בתור, ובכל זאת אנשי הצוות היו עסוקים מידי בלדבר אחד עם השני ולא התייחסו אלינו אפילו כשמבטינו נפגשו. קצת פגע, אבל לא מספיק כדי לפגוע בביקורת עד כדי כך. סך הכל מקום נוח ומטופח עבור המחיר.

כשמצאנו את המלון הזה באינטרנט, זה לא מה שציפינו לו כלל!!! החדר היה נקי אבל קטן להדהים!!!! נאלצנו לעזוב את החדר כדי לקיים שיחה בגלל כל הרעש מהחדר הסמוך. התאכזבתי ממש ממיקום המלון שהיה במרכז אזור של הומלסים וסוחרי סמים. כולם חיפשו לקנות או למכור משהו לא חוקי.

Comfortable, older hotel, breakfast at Mel's was fantastic, right on the corner!

We were pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the Opal, San Francisco. The front desk staff were friendly and polite and helpful with requests and directions to local attractions. The morning buffet breakfast that was included was fantastic and included fruit, bagels, yogurt, toast and tea/coffee. The rooms are homely and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Was disappointed that we had to pay for parking in our own hotel and was not told this until we checked in. Spent $130 just for parking for the weekend

Grand old hotel retaining the victorian feel of yesterday. Very convenient to all neighbors via public transportation.

I enjoyed the free breakfast and thought overall the hotel was clean and very convenient to downtown. Movie theater right beside hotel as well! However, the building across Van Ness from the hotel looked like a slum building. I know this has nothing to do with The Opal, but I was a little fearful when I was walking at night in the area.

The Opal was the perfect hotel for us this trip. It's in an awesome location downtown; close to great shops, entertainment and has a nice ambiance. We'll be staying here again.

Perfectly acceptable hotel in a very convenient location tho the immediate surroundings lack charm. It is a bit frayed around the edges and service is no frills, but this seems a good trade-off for the reasonable (by San Francsico standards anyway) price.

Convenient to get around with public transport from and to the hotel. Breakfast was very good for this price range. Enjoyed my stay!

The staff is very friendly, the room is comfortable, clean, but smell a little bit bad, is possible due the old carpet, with wifi, continental breakfast is good, . Is located to 8 blocks to union square, where the tourist bus makes a main stop. Theres a lot of choices to have meals.

Was in SF for a conference. Nice hotel and I like the fact that its right across from Tommy's Joynt.

The location is nice and it is right along the bus route. The hotel is old and the carpet is very old. The bed was comfortable. I would just take alot of clorox wipes and not walk barefoot on the floor. The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. Although I ate breakfast in the city, I checked out the breakfast the hotel serves and it looked very good. Elevator and AC are in good condition.

We were pleasantly surprised how quiet our room was even though it faced Van Ness and was near an elevator. Nice continental breakfast and great location.

I travel a lot. This is a very good choice for the price when staying near Union Square. The bed was comfortable. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful with any request. A standard breakfast with lite yogurt and bagels was included with the room. There were a few homeless people but the caused no issues.

Probably good value for money considering how expensive San Francisco is. the Hotel is old and a bit shabby but it was very clean and the staff were very professional and helpful. I would like to have had a small frig in my room but other things made up for it like 24 hr tea/coffee available in lobby and free breakfast. This was basic but reasonably healthy. I liked the fresh fruit salad. Everything is promptly replenished. Hotel is centrally situated and has a very frequent, reliable bus service almost at the door.

We loved our stay at the Opal. The interior is beatiful and very clean. Our room was spacious. The continental breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels and whole grain bread. And of course coffee. Mel's diner has tasty food and you can walk right in from the hotel lobby. Highly recommend!!!

Carpet was old and so was the bed-sheet. Overall it was ok.

A great value. Clean room, comfortable bed, and a continental breakfast. Not the greatest neighborhood, but within walking distance of some must see destinations.

I thought the hotel was nice considering the rougher appearance of its surrounding area. The staff was young, friendly, accommodating and what I would expect for the rate. The building isoldish and the walls are thin... I could hear an adjacent couple getting it on one night, but I wrote it off as part of the 'urban experience.' My room faced one of the cross-streets, so it could be loud at times due to traffic. I don't blame the hotel for that, but it is something to consider if you are expecting a quieter experience. The noise never kept me from sleeping. Before I left for my trip, I did read reviews about some of the floors wreaking of pot, which I certainly experienced. However, after my trip, I can attest that just about every block in San Francisco smells like pot. If you can't handle this hotel, then you can't handle the city.

Overall it was ok. If have no other choice, then go for this. Its not far from golden gate bridge, lombard street, fisherman wharf if you have a car. But when if u need to walk outside, then i will not walk outside with a family after sunset. Too many homeless outside. inside is clean. Reasonable daily clean area for breakfast. It could be better if there was cereal, waffle also. Lobby area is nice and clean. I liked about daily 24 hr coffee, hot water available in the lobby. The front desk reception people are good, nice and helpful. They guide u well. Problem was only one elevator and they close the stairs to go to parking lot via stairs. It gets crowded in elevator. Rooms inside are spacious. Outside rooms are smaller. I had booked a larger deluxe room but then i asked for a room near my family. They gave me an outside, that was good also but still charged for a large room. I do not know why? Anyway, overall, not a bad hotel if with family. No smoking area. They have good fitness area also btw.

This hotel is close to several main muni stops, but not very close to bart, so the convenience depends on which transport line you plan on taking most. The service is good, rooms are decent -- clean, but nothing fancy. The gym sucks -- a few small machines in a small basement room. Wifi is a reasonable speed. Overall, a good hotel for the price.

While the location was convenient, the hotel was not. The room was very small. No closet. Small chest of 3 drawers. The hotel and room was musty and in need of remodel. You need long arms and a good reach to get to the toilet paper from the toilet! I had to seek out additional towels each day and the day before we left, they did not replenish tissues, toilet papers, soap,etc. The complimentary breakfast was not good. There were no cereals, fresh fruits, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage,waffles, etc. as you often find in other hotels. Perhaps this is because it is attached to Mel's diner but the breakfast was not good.

Very pleased with this hotel. My only negative thoughts is the lack of counter space in the bathroom. No place to put toiletries and it would be nice to have a towel rack next to the sink.

I travel for my job and have stayed in a lot a different hotels, I have never felt so uncomfortable in a room. I felt like the carpets were disgusting and who knew about anything else. The lobby looked really nice with appetizers and wine for the guests, but the room itself was the worst that I have stayed in. I was thankful I was only staying one night, otherwise I would have changed hotels and not stayed.

The hotel is 5 blocks from the cable car on California street. It is a very far walk from the nearest Bart station and therfore I would not recommend if you are using the Bart to get to the hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room larger than any in Union Square for comparable price. The carpet needs replacing badly and the dingy comforter.. It was quiet compared to Union Square, but Union Square is more convenient location for me.

This is an old hotel, but a well maintained hotel. Probably not an ideal place for families or kids, it is great for singles and couples. Rooms are small (I had to do some interesting maneuvers around the bathroom door in order to use the toilet). Continental breakfast was average, but hotel is attached to a good restaurant--Mel's Diner. Multiplex movie theater next door is a nice feature.

We are a family with 3 kids (13, 11, 9) and we stay 4 days in vacation.The staff was very helpfull and professionnal. The room was large and clean. Only the price of the parking (30 $/day) was expensive but it'is SF and parking are very expensive.

There is nothing to complain about at this hotel, but here are a few notable remarks: No in-room safe. That was a surprise... Beds and pillows could use replacing bit weren't atrocious by any means. The hotel is amazingly quiet given its location on Van Ness, and it really is perfectly situated for transportation and access to everything. Mel's Diner restaurant is a bonus next door. The hotel's continental breakfast is fair enough. This hotel is a great value in a city filled with expensive properties.
