Grant Plaza Hotel - סן פרנסיסקו

This is the place to stay if you're looking for somewhere close to everything in SF, and has just the necessities to sleep, shower & change your clothes, which is all we needed. We were one bus ride away from AT&T Park, one bus ride away from Fishermen's Wharf & one bus ride away from the Alcatraz Pier. The front desk staff was friendly & knowledgeable.

This is a very noisy hotel - it was as though the people in the surrounding rooms were right in the same room (could hear conversations at normal volume, showers, alarms, phones, etc.) Rooms are in okay condition, but very small.

I had read many review in regards to this hotel before booking in regards to the manager T. I do not know who these people are but boy were the wrong Theo was kind, courteous and extremlly professional towards us as both a hotel manager and a host. The beware part mind you deals exclussevelly with the cleaning staff, one morning after having stayed on the third night I dropped something at the side of the bed, it slightly rolled under as i reached a little under I accidently grabbed a condom, I would hate to see what else they may have missed under there. Also on three different occasion we had to go downstairs for bathroom supplies (two rolls of T.P. and one roll of the body soap bag for the shower) B.T.W. clean the inside of these as the mold is starting to thicken up. If the maid is wondering why we did not tip her (as we normally do on the last day) she may find comfort in my wife's Ralph Lauren Sunglasses that mysteriously dissepeared in our room?

You get what you pay for. If you're used to hostels, this would be okay for you. Not very secure - they let delivery people walk up to the hotel rooms. Price is okay, cheap for San Fran. Very very noisy!

I'll never stay there again...key card did not work three times. The first night...Then room was switched...fast, but the back up room was not ideal

An excellent location particularly for China Town, but a long uphill walk from Bart. Staff very courteous and obliging - except that alarm call we booked was late as was call re shuttle bus and in neither case did the operator stay to confirm an answer. It is really hard to keep old rooms fresh and clean but hotel achieved this. With a little more effort the hotel could be excellent.

We would have loved to have had this hotel for our entire stay in San Francisco. Unfortuantely it was only available for a portion of our trip. A small lack of a few conveniences. No fridge, a shower instead of a tub shower combo. A bit tight on space and a ice machine that costs a quarter for a limited amount. With all that said a great location close to Union Square and the Financial District. Beautiful old rooms some with stained glass and for a family a very nice park/playground across the street in St. Mary's Square. Overall an affordable and great choice in the middle of the "tourist" portion of Chinatown.

No frills is the name of the game.

Stayed in the standard double room for four nights. At first was disappointed with the bad ventilation in the room and could not open the window fully. But the hotel staff was kind enough to provide us with a fan. Problem solved. The bed was extremely comfy and the toilet clean and working well. The main advantage of this hotel is its location, at the entrance of Chinatown. Very accessible to BART stations and bus/cable car routes, so travelling to and fro the hotel was a breeze. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to the fuss free traveller.

Resemable cost for location. Parking for hotel is a little bit of a walk from hotel Rooms are dated but functional. Good hotel if you go anywherr into the financial district or china town.

Housekeeping service was good. Place is clean. No bed bugs (I checked for them first). Price is reasonable. Walls are thin and so is the noise from rooms above. But if you need a clean room with little amenities I recommend this.

If you are considering downtown SF, stay at Grant Plaza. I've been coming here 4 times over the past two years and I am very happy with my stay everytime. It is a great location and not overpriced! You get what you pay for: a clean room (new towels and stuff everyday), hot shower, comfy beds, flatscreen TV. While in SF you shouldn't spend too much time at your hotel anyway - there are too many things to do and see. So for a 27 year old world traveler like myself, Grant is a really good deal.

Location of the hotel was fantastic we could walk to everywhere we needed to go and the tram service was very close....The rooms were not five star quality but you have everything you need and if your not planning on staying in the hotel then this is a great place to stay. This is definitely five star location wise and the staff that work there are very welcoming and informative. Would defenitly stay here again.

The walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor's conversation. And every step you take can be heard. And if you use the faucet or the shower, everyone will know. Still, it's not bad for the price. Rooms are quite small, but everything else in SF is overpriced. Great location, though. Easy to get to from BART.

Nice location and friendly staff. It was hard to sleep though because it was either too warm or too cold. There is no temp regulator in the room.

Price and location were right, room was clean, had free wifi. Shower didn't have hot water either morning, bed and pillows were not very comfortable, TV had 10 channels. You get what you pay for.

Room was relatively clean but needed updating. Bed for 2 was so tiny, I'm 5'4 and my feet hung over the edge! Shower was very low, OK if you're under ~5 feet! No bathtub. Water in the loo flushed yellow, which was a little odd! Staff we're friendly. No amenities available in hotel. No drinks machine or breakfast available. No tea or coffee in room. No microwave or fridge in room or hotel for customers. Location was in China Town, just near the arch. Great to pop out for Chinese food.

Grant Plaza is a must stay for someone who is wanting to be centrally located without paying an arm and a leg for the convenience. The hotel is a clean, basic hotel with amicable staff. We used only public transportation starting at the airport. It is also easy access to the hotel. The City Pass worked really well for us.

If you want a fairly clean and modest hotel room as your "home base" while in San Francisco, this is it! Our room was small, but clean and on the interior of the building which made it quiet but a little dark. We had maid service every day giving us fresh towels and making the bed and she did her best to clean around our piles. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with questions and we lived by the map they gave us when we checked in. Then, the minute you step out the door, you can go anywhere in SF! You are one block from the gate of Chinatown and a few blocks from the Ferry Building. We are real walkers , so from the hotel we walked to Fisherman's Wharf (on the way back walked all the way up to Coit's Tower), Pier 39, through North Beach and to Haight Ashbury---over 3 days, not on the same day. If we wanted we could have jumped on a cable car near any of these places. This is NOT the Hilton and you have to pay for ice (just a quarter for a half bucket), but you are in a great spot to visit any part of SF you want quickly and easily.

If you like Chinatown, then boy this is the hotel you got to stay in. The front desk guys are super friendly and helpful. The location is GREAT. It is right by the entrance of Chinatown, 5 min walk to city transportation and about 10 minutes from Market Street. BUT!!!! make sure you ask for a room facing the street. All the other rooms faces this weird atrium of concert and other rooms. If you open your windows, you can literally throw stuff into other guests rooms. Street view is better. Last note, the room picture is a bit misleading on hotels.com. It's NOT THAT BIG, and very un-sound proof.

I would stay there again. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful. There was a place store luggage before check-in and after check-out. Very handy for a travel schedule. Very handy to Chinatown and the general donwtown shopping/theater district. Buses within a very short distance, one block or so.

Location in Chinatown was okay (can walk to The House of Nan King). Bed springs left marks on my back, mold in bathroom and windows was disturbing. Noise level in the hall was high, but the drunk guy with no shoes in the elevator was comic relief for an otherwise embarrassing cheap hotel booking in a city I've never been to.

Grant Plaza hotel in San Francisco is located within chinatown. Its close to union square where all the shopping, pubs, restaurants are located. most of the hop-on hop-off tours also start from union square.The room was small but being san franciso, i guess this room had good value for money.it would have been nice to have coffee maker in the room and also a business center to take printouts. There was someone at the reception lobby at all times and they were helpful to answer any questions.

Room was clean but quite small for a couple. OK if just needed to wash and sleep.Right on edge of Chinatown which is a good location to start the city exploration

It is a centrally located no-frill hotel for the budget minded traveller.

This hotel is at the start of China town so it can be quite loud during the day but it very safe at night. The rooms were on the small side but with there only be myself staying in the room I had no issues. I did find that I was a little tall for the shower mind you I am 5'6". The service and location of this hotel were great.

LOVELY STAFF, VERY HELPFUL, BRILLIANT LOCATION, LOVED EVERY MINUTE. WOULD GO BACK!

Room was very small, but clean, and the hotel was very close to Chinatown and other restaurants and shopping in the area. If you won't be spending much time in your room, this is the place for you, as the price can't be beat for this location. Great for a budget traveller.

Great value for money, room small but clean, staff very helpful, location excellent for Chinatown, Little Italy, tours, restaurants and bars. This does not pretend to be a 5 star hotel and does not have any food services, but these are available in a few minutes walk. All in all, excellent value for money.

For the price, you can not beat the location of this place! Although the room was pretty small and reminded me of a tiny B&B, but we were comfortable and enjoyed our time in San Fran. The people working the front desk were also extremely nice and helpful. I would gladly stay there again.

It is an average hotel, nothing special...

Good handy location at reasonable rates

We were very pleased with everything about the hotel. Great location to just about anywhere you want to go. Frank at the front desk was great in helping us figure out best options for transportation for sight seeing and shuttle back to airport. Not a top line or top dollar hotel, and knew that going in, but price was great and rooms and hotel was very clean. Would surely stay here again

Good hotel for the money.

Little walk up motel, I won't call this a hotel. The room was tiny, spots on the floor, the general condition was shabby. The killer was that the bed felt like a laying on cardboard. I picked it for the location but left and got a room somewhere else after checking out the room.

The hotel overall was alright. The room was very small even for two people. It could use a bit of an upgrade.

Location excelent but that's the only positive. Tired shabby interior baring no resemblance to promotional pictures. Tiny room not big enough for couple and my 16 year old son who I had booked for . He was given an old fold up bed which was just a pile of springs, too short for him with a top blanket full of holes. When I complained they said nothing could be done. The only thing they could do was not charge for the bed. A charge I was not expecting anyway as we had paid in full in advance. In general very dissapointing .
