Daddy O Hotel - Bay Harbor Islands

Nice hotel. The room looked exactly like the pictures on the hotels.com Website. The room my husband and I had was 103B which was on the first floor. There was no view other than the back side of the restaurant next door. The bed was comfortable and huge. The room had a nice big TV on the wall with HBO. The was room was nice with a waterfall shower head. Even though the hotel and room was very nice it was very loud. We could hear everyone as they walked down the hallway and the room above us on the second floor sounded like elephants walking back and forward. If you are a light sleeper this could be aggravating. Parking was minimal located on the side of the building for hotel guest and meters in the back that the hotel staff would feed for us until hotel parking became available. All in all we had a nice stay. This hotel is not with in walking distance to south beach about 10 minutes away depending on traffic. I dont think this would be my first choice if I come back to Miami because it is so far away from the action.  

You have to try this place is you are in Bal Habour.

A very pleasant surprise. Modest cost for quality facility. Super friendly staff offering to help with suggestions as to restaurants and directions. Surprised to find out that there are free unlimited telephone calls to almost everwhere in the world. Eclectic mix of people, many interesting and from far away places. Will stay at Daddy O again.

Hotel was exactly as described. Cute, quaint, good location. Will stay again!

The way that I was treated by ALL of the hotel staff was exactly what customer service used to be, and should be ! I was so comfortable in every way! It was an easy walk to the beach, and Bal Harbour shops. Short trip to Aventura and South Beach. I will never stay anywhere else when I am visiting Miami Beach.

The bed was very comfortable and the room is nicely decorated. The room had a lot of extra amenities and the hotel staff were nice and helpful. My only complaint would be the carpet needs updating.

Very nice small hotel, excellent value!

Unfortunately, both rooms that we booked stayed up all night either listening to other talk on the phone, or walk about us, or heard the main air conditioning units and people talking around the unit at all hours. We loved the hotel but could not get a good nights sleep because of the noise.

This is a great boutique hotel hidden near the Bal Harbor shops. The staff is excellent with lots of suggestions for planning your day. Check-in was easy and they catered to our requests. The room is very nicely furnished and comfortable. You can even make free phone calls using their VOIP. Breakfast was good with muffins, danishes, bread and bagels. The coffee machine is great (self serve). They also have free use of chairs and umbrellas if you ask. Be sure to check out the Bal Harbor shops and restaurants.

Very good hotel, absolutely recommendable.

Ran out of hot water in shower, but otherwise terrific

We stayed here the night after a cruise and when comparing to other "boutique" hotels in the area and in South Beach I think you get a lot of bang for your buck. Generally speaking I am not a fan of the whole boutique hotel phenomenon going on in Miami and have paid huge money for "4 star" hotels in South Beach that would be considered nothing more than a dirty 2-3 star motel in other areas of the country. So this time we thought we would try something new and I think we got a better place to stay for half the price of staying in South Beach. If you do not mind walking a few blocks to the beach and not being right in the middle of the South Beach action this hotel is a very good bet. Some things in particular we liked were: Very comfortable beds, walking distance to restaurants and Bal Harbor shops, short drive to Aventura mall, better than expected free continental breakfast, helpful and pleasant staff. The only real con I can think of is that they do not have a pool.

This hotel is close to the beach and shops. Staff was very friendly.

It was OK, not great, not horrible. The carpets need to be cleaned badly. In the photos it appears to be a very modern hotel, when in fact it is a very old building that was refurbished... perhaps some time ago. Things need to be repainted or touched up. Breakfast was simple but restocked often. Lady who took care of restocking breakfast items and assisting guests was very pleasant. In all fairness, we were only there only one night but these were my observations.

The hotel is a gem. quiet neighborhood, 4 blocks from beautiful beach, 3 blocks from hotel. 20 minutes to South Beach by car and 25 minutes to Miami downtown

The whole experience was great. I gave them a 4 only because the walls are thin and you can hear everything that is happening in the hallways and adjacent rooms. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were very nice, only pitfall was the bathroom shower being "fashionable" and not having a door, which made for a wet floor after every shower. Overall I would recommend again.

Everything was great with the exception of having to walk up stairs with our bags

Great place- we loved it and would come back. It's like an upscale hostel, and perfect for our needs.

The only negative issue is that due to the age of the hotel if you are staying downstairs then you will hear everything going on in the room upstairs. We will come back and we will make sure we have an upstairs room. Very unique hotel and sometimes you need to put up with minor inconveniences if you don't want to stay at a boring "chain hotel". Walking distance to restuarants, staff was absolutely friendly and "quirky" which fit the mood of the hotel!!

Stayed for business - good people at hotel, enjoyed my stay.

I found Daddy 'O Hotel on Hotels.com and stayed based upon reviews from previous guests and the Excellent ration on Hotels.com's site. This hotel was far from Excellent. First it says a short drive to South Beach it was actually 20 minutes due to traffic It said short walk to beach. It is a 15 minute walk to the beach. Now we go inside. The pictures on their site have been enhanced (as are most but in my opinion it was a gross over representation). The building and especially the halls smelled like sewage. When I complained the Assoc GM first said our maintenance guy is working on it and then she said hey our city is built on trash. WTH? The bedroom carpet was so nasty we didn't want to take off our shoes but hey the bathroom was clean. The website said they have a bar well okay if you call a built in cooler behind the check-in counter a bar but hey they will deliver it to your room. They offered us Cappuccino but when we got there the machine was broke. No wonder the rooms were dirt cheap compared to the other hotels on Bal Harbour. We spent our 1st day searching for another hotel. We were stuck there the 1st night but the next day we moved to Eden Rock (in South Beach) and what a HUGE difference. I guess due to my extensive business travel I know what an excellent hotel should be and Daddy O is not it.

I loved the property and the style of it. Nice attentive staff with an intimate overtone. Right next to the Palm Steakhouse, one of my favorites. It's in a private upscale area in Bal Harbour and not on the strip of all the hotels and chaos. If you need all the action, this is not the place for you.

The staff was pleasant, the room was clean, the soup of the day was reasonable priced.

Everything at the hotel was great. The girl at the front desk was polite and helpful. Food and drinks were within walking distance. The beach was a short drive.

Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed ambience and warm welcome. Wine hour was a particularly nice touch. Definitely our first choice for our next stay in MIA.

It's a beautiful hotel, with a terrific staff, an amazing deal!

The hotel staff were over the top friendly and helpful......I real treat in South Florida! The room was nicely laid out, very spacious, clean and most importantly the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.

Great location ! Close to beach and mall. Don't expect much from their breakfast. Excellent place to stay for its price and what u get

Hotel and staff are wonderful. Rooms very comfortable. good location. Worked with the GM, Kevin, on a few things and he was great to deal with. The only issue is the walls are thin so your going to hear a lot of things going on.
