Hotel Sant'Angelo - רומא

We loved this hotel and found it to be in a great location, close to metro stops (about a 10-15 minute walk) and within easy walking distance of many sights. They also had the best breakfast we had at any hotel in Italy (and we stayed in 12 different hotels on this trip!)

we stayed in a completely different building than the hotel reception which was inconvenient when we got there with all our luggage and baby stuff, we dragged everything up to reception in one building to be told we were staying in another building down the road. That was frustrating. They did help us with our luggage but it was still an inconvenience after traveling. The rooms are small and the shower head had a mind of its own which was challenging. The armoire door was broken, good thing my husband is handy. Overall it was fine but a little pricey considering all our obstacles. The best part of our stay was the housekeeper, who was so sweet and always set up the crib for our baby so nicely.

This small hotel, conveniently located to many sights, provided a wonderful respite before our cruise the following day. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. We had a problem with a piece of missing luggage, and the reception person, Valeria, worked tirelessly to track down the errant piece. Cipriano was also very helpful. The entire staff worked to make sure our stay was pleasant, and we certainly will return the next time we are in Rome.

The hotel is not located where Hotels.com led me to believe, nor does it have the views shown in the pictures on Hotels.com's website. Hotel room was not in the main building, it was two blocks away. One of the rooms wasn't cleaned and still had items from the previous tenant in the shower. Very loud at night due to the local people gathering outside and parting until 5am. Could not sleep. Checked out early and found another hotel. Very, Very disappionted.

We booked 4 hotels through hotels.com for a two week vacation in Italy. This was the most expensive. The hotel Sant' Angelo was the pitts. It was misrepresented on the web site and by no means was a 3.7 rating. First of all the room was so small that when my wife went to the bathroom she would hit my feet when I was in bed. Next was the bathroom, It was a closet. The shower stall had mold in it and the shower curtain would not close due to a make shift curtin rod. There was only one(1) suitcase stand with no where to put a second suitcase. I also read something on the desk that was left out by mistake and it showed hostil prices. This hotel should be removed from hotels.com listings. When I complained at the desk I was told they were full and no other rooms were availble for my stay. It should have no star rating. " DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE ITS A DUMP "

The location is great - away from the touristiest areas yet within a 10 minute walk. Surrounding area is very pretty and fun to discover. We requested a quiet room off the courtyard but were given one right above the street. We had to press the manager to exchange after one night, because the rooms have paper-thin walls and you can hear everything happening in the next room (everything!) Also you can hear everyone doing their business in the bathroom (everything!). After we insisted we were given another room which was quieter but still not great. The wi-fi signal in the hotel is very weak, we could not use any of our devices. Most egregious is the breakfast. I have traveled in Italy for years and this is the worst breakfast I've ever encountered - old cold cuts, fake/cheap pastries and absolutely the worst coffee in all of Italy. It tasted like mud. I tried requesting espresso and cappuccino, but it did not get better. Just awful! I will stay in this area again but not in this hotel!

Hotel was clean and the room fine and only a ten-minute walk from St Peter's. However, the reception desk/breakfast room is almost a city block from the rooms themselves, there is no parking except for catch-as-catch-can or a garage around the corner, the elevator is a study in early nineteenth-century electro-mechanics, and there was no hot water the morning of our stay.

This hotel is very well situated, we didn't even need a bus to get to most sights.The best bit was it was full of character and the staff were really helpful and friendly and helped us with maps and tips on places to visit and eat etc.The breakfasts were also excellent value and had a good selection of meat, cheeses , fruit, tasty Italian cakes etc . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is the first hotel that I had to go to one location to get the room key and go to another location down the block for my room. I didn't believe the other reviews about the elevators lol They are tiny!!!! Only two people at a time, if you are on the heavy side, I only recommend one. This hotel is located in an apartment complex and the people living there are terribly rude. The room was really nice. Comfortable. Perfect location. For the price, I guess I can't complain. I don't recommend the breakfast, unless all you really want are fruits and cheese.

The hotel is in a good location and the staff are willing to help out. The bathroom is small which is much like all washrooms in Rome, but the shower is really tiny. A good clean hotel with free wi-fi and a nice place to come hom to after a day of sight seeing.

We chose this hotel based on past reviews and its central location to the sights we wanted to see. Boy, were we blown away! Service: we did order room service. However the staff was more than welcome to provide us recommendations and directions to local attractions. Many of them were bilingual. Cleanliness/condition: the room was as expected. Clean, with no signs of wear or worn out items. The rooms have universal plugs compatible with US plugs without adapters (don't forget, it's still 220 volts). Our only gripe was that on one night the hot water didn't work. They fixed it within an hour, though. Food: we elected to pre-purchase breakfast with our reservation. Impressed would be an understatement! Two staff members tended to a room of eight tables (16 seats). All the foods were freshly prepared, including the bread. Plus, by the second day, they had our coffee preferences memorized. By the way, they fresh-made each cappuccino or latte. No cheap, automated machine for this hotel! Overall: excellent experience! Highly reccomended!

The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful. Every night they had free wine and light snacks for their guests and some of the staff circulated and spoke with the guests. The buffet breakfast was the best I've had with eggs, selection of meats, cheeses, fresh fruits and pastries. The only complaint I would have is the shower is extremely small...about 2' X2', which I guess isn't that unusual for Europe as some of the other hotels we stayed in were that way. And we couldn't get Wifi in our room, but had to go to the 2nd floor and sit near their public computer to gain access.

The staff was very helpful, and were fluent in english. The location is good, close to bus stops but walking distance to all of the sights. The neighborhood was quiet at night. The elevator is small, as most i saw in italy, and we were on the 3rd floor which got tiring after a full day of walking.

Hotel is truly situated near main attractions. It took 15-20 minutes to get to Vatican, as well as sights across the river. Colisseum was our 'furthest' sight, and we took the metro (1.50 euros one way). The hotel room was clean...the issues we had were 1) the leaking tub that would make a puddle after each shower, 2) the lack of hot water on most occasions (probably best to shower 6-8am to get any hot water) and 3)the constant sound of water in the wall pipes...made it hard to fall asleep...We didn't have breakfast at hotel so can't comment on that. If we were to do it again, we'd stay by Termini station now that we know food there is cheaper and that the sights are all within walking or metro distance.

Beds were extremely comfortable, staff very accomodating. Clean and confortable, we will be back.

the hotel was as advertised.... a mid-priced hotel, OK on the basics, clean, near popular destinations. I didn't want to pay for un-needed luxuries, so this fit the bill fine for us.

We were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Sant'Angelo and would definitely stay again! This was our first trip to Rome and the hotel's great location provided easy walks to all of the sites we wanted to see. Our room was clean and had lovely crisp white bed linens. We had a double bed, which was actually two twins pushed together but was FAR bigger than I would have imagined. Great breakfast, happy hour glass of wine and very friendly front desk staff made our stay lovely. And the entrance to the building is beautiful, you feel like you are staying in a museum!! (note: we were in main building)

Room was tidy; furniture a bit scuffed up. What really got us though, was that the room was in a building down the block from where the reception was. And neither building had a visible, obvious entrance. The room building required going through an outer door, up stairs, then another keyed door (shared building), and then into the room. Use of 3 keys required. Felt insecure and was inconvenient. More open, visible lobby would be advised.

Central to sights. Nice breakfast served. Bathroom shower was very tiny. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The attention of the staff was perfect, excellent location, but the room has a noise in the wall like running water that was very uncomfortable. In overall we were very satisfied.

Hotel was nice and clean, bathroom was so small you could hardly turn around. Check in was 2pm according to my reservation, however when I got there they said it was free. Breakfast was good, but 7.30 was a bit late if you have an early start.

the hotel is located in a very good spot. about 10-30 minutes from all the best sites in rome. our room was very nice, clean and comfortable, exactly what we needed. the service is great- the staff is eager to help in tips on where to go and what to see. and the breakfast... that was one of the best things! it is delicious!! overall... we had the best time!

The location was good and we loved the hotel decor, enourmous wooden doors and huge staircase. We stayed in the annex which is only about 10 doors down. kids loved the lift, i refused to go in it! The room was of a good size and very clean. The down side was that the air conditioning was not working (wonder if it ever does) and it was 36c at 10pm, the noise outside was too loud to sleep with the windows open (it is the middle of Rome, so it is to be expected) and too hot to sleep with the windows closed. plus we had somehow managed to book 4 of us in a room and the hotel's biggest rooms have 3 beds (1 twin and a single). 2 long nights! I'd stay again without the kids.

We stayed at Sant'Angelo for 2 nights in middle of August. We booked the hotel very early, so we got very good price. First day check in our room was not ready or some other reasons, they put us in a no air-conditioning small room in different building across the street (I guess this is the annexed room which were talked about in their booking website), for compansation they give us free breakfast next morning. It was middle of August, no air-conditioning meant very uncomfortable night of sleep. The room was very small, the room was provided with fan. TV remote wasn't working. Shower drain was flowing very slow. The breakfast was good and reasonable priced. The second night, they put us in a fantastic suite with 2 double deds with good air-conditioning. I wish I protested more about the air-conditioning at first night, because free breakfast is not enough to compensate the hot stuffy room and disrupted sleep. The hotel location is very good, walking distance to Vatican City.

I was happy overall but on our first day the hotel was overbooked so they put us into another property that did not have air conditioning. It was mid August so the room was very uncomfortable. After the first day they moved us to the main hotel and everything was great after that. The breakfast was excellent as was the location. I would have scored this hotel with straight 4's and 5's if they had not overbooked us. The other property was not nearly has nice as the main hotel.

the hotel was too far from Termini, and from the subway stations too. On the first day we were told that for lack of power our room did not offer A/C service in 94F weather!! They offered a fan and free breakfast for our trouble. The next day we were moved to a new room, so we had to pack up again and were without room until the new one was available. We requested an airport shuttle reservation, that was not processed (perhaps lack of understanding by the staff). They called us a taxi in the last minute. And we were charged for breakfast!! On the top all this the concierge was not apologetic enough for all the troubles. Avoid it!!

We had a good time. The hotel staff were very accommodating. They made every effort to solve problems. The breakfast was quite nice. We would stay there again.

We took a chance on this hotel and we were happy we did. The problem is that this hotel tries to put people into a different hotel down the street. I think this is the reason that the reviews are inconsistent. They tried this with us but we insisted on staying at Sant'Angelo and they found us a room. Our room seemed to be recently renovated and our only complaint was that the room door was too thin and didn't stop hallway noise. Summary: location great, bed good, clean room, comp breakfast very good. The airport shuttle two blocks away is a great bonus.

When we arrived at the hotel we were very impressed by the service of the hotel staff, very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there are 2 buildings for the hotel and we were stopping in the building across the road and down the street which meant we had to walk across for breakfast every day as it was in the main building. Room ok just basic, unfortunately they told us the 2 rooms we had the air con was broke so they gave us a fan - this did not really help. Was so hot at night did not sleep well and when we opened the window to let air in the noise from outside was just too loud to sleep. Breakfast was quite nice, plenty of variety.

You can tell the hotel wants to be great, but doesn't quite fit the bill. The first night our air conditioning was broken and they couldn't change our room because they were full. The shower in two separate rooms we used didn't drain and in fact, overflowed within 2 minutes. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice. Just a few hiccups that were a bit inconvenient for us.

Upon checking on I asked how the AC worked and realized that it didn't work, apparently none of the AC's on the floor worked and they were unwilling to move me to a different room. The bed was rock hard and the room was boiling hot a very unconformable stay.

It was good, staff was very informative. Every things went well except Ist night there was no HOT water to take bath.

This was our last stop in Italy before heading home. We had stayed in 4 other hotels in the course of two weeks. The heat in Italy was intense and this hotel said they had air conditioning but our two rooms dId not. We were miserable to say the least. Opening the windows only allowed for the noise of the city streets to enter our room. It finally died down around 4 am! Our rooms were very plain, but clean. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. I would personal never stay there again, but in a cooler season I don't know.

Overall, very good hotel, great location and neighborhood. Walking distance to many city attractions, cafe/restaurants, supermarket and city buses. Inexpensive Bus shuttle to the Fiumicino Airport is also a great alternative to taxi, offered by the hotel.

We ordered three nights in a room with a private bathroom. We got a room in the 4th floor of a separate building, which is newer, but with an elevator that tends to get stuck half-way between floors. At the evening, after a long walk in the hot streets of Rome, we wished to take to shower, but only to discover that there are no hot water. The clerk told us twice that the problem will be solved in one hour, so we waited patiently. Finally, we had a cold shower. At morning they promised that the problem will be solved, but when we arrived back at the evening, we have been told that nothing changed. We asked for another room, but the hotel was full. As long as we were polite, they insisted that they have nothing to do, even not giving us back some money. But when we raised our tones, they suddenly started to look for alternative hotel. But even then, they tried to give us very bad offers, and it took us half an hour of aggressive argument to get some normal offer. So DO NOT GET CLOSE TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE.

Horrible! Completely misrepresented on Hotels.com. There is NO AIR CONDITIONING! We tried opening a window at night to cool the room down only to listen to partiers out on the street (UNTIL 4 AM EVERY NIGHT!). The beds are actually 2 twin size beds pushed together, no bedspread, the shower is tiny (the 1 1/2' square & when you showered you flooded the bathroom). There is TV, but unless you speak Italian, forget it...no CNN/BBC. No room at all to unpack...we had to push our suitcases partially under the bed & pull them out to get fresh clothes. They would not slide completely under the bed so the room was an obstacle course. The phones went out one day & we could not get the staff to understand (huge language barrier compared to other hotels & B&B's we've stayed at) & our other family members were in a different room on a different floor - each floor needs a key to access it, so we could not get in touch with our other family members until they finally fixed the phones. Another morning we woke up to a pop & found the power was out to our room. Since this was not our 1st stay in Europe I checked the breakers, one was tripped & I reset them...but still no power. I called the front desk & was told it would be at least 2 hours before a maintenance guy would be in to look at it! Please if you are considering this property for your stay in Rome - DON'T!

Quiet rooms, comfortable beds at reasonable price. Airport bus drops you off at Piazza Cavour, less than 5 min walk away. Pleasant walking distance to Spanish Steps, Piazza Navonna, St. Peter's basilica, etc. Staff is friendly and helpful; very good English

We had a great stay at the Hotel Sant'Angelo. Couldn't recommend the location more, and while the rooms were pretty basic, the staff was helpful. A bit of a hike up a bunch of stairs every time we left and came back to the hotel, and somehow I missed that breakfast wasn't included - but all in all good value for the money. I would stay there again, just don't expect luxury.

The hotel is situated in a quiet street close to the river but within a 5 minute walk from the Piazza Navona. We had a family room which was clean and comfortable and much bigger than expected given that this was the centre of Rome. Staff were brilliant - nothing too much trouble. The room rate included buffet breakfast which had a decent selection of hot and cold food. The only downside was that the breakfast room was very small which meant we had to wait each morning. Only a minor inconveniece though and given the price we paid for the room, this hotel was an absolute bargain. Would definitely return.

Brillaint location, around the corner from the airport shuttle stop, 15 minutes walk from major spots and centre of Rome. 5 minutes walk from Tiber so easy to navigate Rome from here. Hotel excellent value, clean, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, clean spacious room. Only minus was bathroom needed updating but loads of hot water.

tiny double room barely permitted opening of bathroom door as bed could not clear. hotel staff gave incorrect information about bus service, location of stop and place to purchase ticket. breakfast was charged at additional rate. not what I expected.

Clean but noisy hotel quite close Rome city center and Vatikan. Our room were located in other building approx 100 meter away. Dont ever choose this hotel if you are travelling with own car, there isnt any parking space!

The staff is friendly and very helpful. Make sure you ask for the annex (Hotel Angel) if you are a big person or if you are travelling with someone else. the shower is a joke. I am 110 lbs and couldnt fit in there. I asked to move rooms and they didnt have a problem, I was placed in the annex; a lot bigger and more comfortable. Walls are super paper thin, elevator wont fit 2 ppl plus luggage (keep in mind). The location is amazing, 10 min from the Vatican; 15 min from the Metro, bus stop is on the corner. Restaurants and shops on the hotel street and a supermarket near by. For the price, it is worth it.

Location was perfect for getting to the Vatican or to the Pantheon or Piazza Navonna. Room was adequate, but the shower was extremely small.
