"Gran Melia Colon, Seville"

My wife and I had a mixed experience at Gran Melia Colon. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, the hotel was generally clean and beautiful with a nice mix of classical and contemporary design elements, but on the downside, the bathroom is protected from shower splash by a tiny glass shield which forces you to choose between turning the water on and off while standing crowded up against the wall, or flooding the bathroom every time you shower for more than a minute. As it turns out, the water distribution is uneven, running cool then surging to painfully hot instantly, then back to cool again in unpredictable waves of too cold/too hot, so short showers were all we wound up taking anyway.
On our first night, my wife was awakened by the sensation of something crawling on her. It turned out to be a huge cockroach, the biggest one I've every seen (and I grew up in New York). Now Seville is an old city, and not the cleanest city, but we were on the 4th floor and nowhere near a kitchen.
