Didnt feel like i was trap in tourist world Felt very exclusive and peaceful Plus the penthouse suites are amazing!

Staff wonderful. Only negative was not enough light in the bathroom.

First off, there is not any signage on the building, door, sidewalk to indicate there is a hotel there.Second, once i asked a homeless person where it was. I had to get out of the car open a door and yell in the lobby to see if I was actually at the hotel. Once the bellman/valet/night audit/front desk attendent stopped texting/posting on facebook to respond yes. He then pointed to the bellmans cart for me to fetch my own bags. Then I had to basically force him to park my car which cost $35. checking out was worse. no restuarant, no room service, room was dark and felt cold. There are better options for the price.

the minimalist style of this hotel is, ironically, overdone, with expansive rooms, yet almost no living area. the bathroom alone is bigger than many motel rooms, but offers nothing by which to appreciate the space. the shower is airy (drafty) with a somewhat annoying dual-head system that yet produces barely enough of a stream to be functional and no way to step out of its way. considering the majority of the room was bare with concrete floors, the dust and even mold was surprising.

This is a wonderful- hip and stylish-boutique hotel.The rooms are loft style-spacious and modern with a industrial feel. The king size bed so comfortablething-18'-ceilings, cement floors, and incredible, delightful bathroom Did I say bath ROOM- so large that it is equal to the size of a bedroom! Unpolished marble, walk-in shower, freestanding ovular modern soaking tub ! Aveda products & a coffee maker to, start the morning off right before you head out. PS One of the best restaurant meals to be had is right up the block- "August", Chef John Besh. Perfect Stay!

excellent decor and condition, perfect for short or long stays, ideally located the day receptionists very helpful, the International House night staff and taxi booker brilliant.

Are you looking for a private, VIP getaway? This is it. There is no sign on building, everything has a hidden, cool, loft vibe to it. The hotel has all original local art. The place is a converted warehouse that has a minimalist appeal.

My wife and I have stayed here many times and loved every visit but our most recent was met with great disapointment. This hotel is usually flawless. Bed Linens were tattered and torn, Elevator smelled sour and old, Fridge wasn't stocked like in the past. I think this hotel is truly a hidden gem in the Big Easy so I will try them again but if I encounter the same "old and used" feeling .... It will be my last visit. Anyone looking for a unique and modern place to stay off the beaten path ..... This is it!!

Excellent location for my business trip and was not crowded like surrounding hotels during a weekend with a big college football game and a Saints game. Love the room size!

Love this hotel. Great decor. Seemed like a nice hidden gem in downtown. Quiet and clean. Loved the room (especially the bathroom tub). Very friendly staff, reasonable price for parking.

The reviews were better than the actual stay. The building lost water on the last morning there. Wifi was awful. I called to the desk and all he said was his worked ok at the front desk. Just a bad signal! It wasnt terrible but I wouldnt go back.

Nicely appointed / designed spacious rooms with high cielings gives this hotel a unique feel. Service was excellent, but valet parking was slower than I expected. Lighting in the bathroom was not adequate, and the shower head made the shower experience unpleasant, like being attacked by a crowd of acupuncturists. Lobby bar was closed which was a relief as some reviews complained about noise. If they open a location in the lobby that doesn't interfere with guests this place is going to be even better.

We were super pleased with our stay. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. The location was ideal and we could walk to anywhere and then leave the craziness behind. The noise was never and issue. The bar down stairs doesn't seem to be in use right now. It is a city so you do hear a big truck or car stereo go buy, but never heard or saw anyone else in the hotel itself. We have decided that this is our new go to spot when staying in New Orleans.

Finally, I found a clean, quiet, convenient and nice place to stay! I was so impressed with the layout of the room that I came home thinking maybe moving to a loft space is in my future. The only bummer was that there is no hotel bar or coffee shop so that was a bit inconvenient. It looks like they are in the process of remodeling though so maybe it's coming. Either way, I'll never stay anywhere else when I visit New Orleans.

Loft 523 was in a great location. It was within walking distance of several great restaurants. Parking was a pain though. The hotel does not have free parking and daily valet there costs $32 (although this does include unlimited in/out service). The room was beautiful, but at times, too dimly lit. The soft lighting is romantic but the lights in the bathroom were so low that it was difficult to apply makeup. The employees that worked at the front desk were nice and provided advice when asked. My biggest complaint is probably the fact that there was no internet for 2 out of the 3 days I stayed there. Also, I hate that the maid service came so early in the morning. No, I don't want my room cleaned at 9am -- I'm still in it. I wish the maid service came at noon or later. Also, if I asked for the maid service to come later, they would give me a call later in the day and ask if I was ready for my room to be cleaned and give me a bit of an attitude if I asked them to come another time. Overall the hotel was great, there were just a few small things I would change.

Clean, spacious rooms with plenty of light and amenities. This hotel is located on a quiet street, close to the Convention center and all the major tourist destinations. If you're looking for a unique hotel stay I'd highly recommend Loft 523.

OK, if I wanted to find things wrong with Loft523 I could mention the room keys that never work and require reprogramming at the front desk each time, or the surround sound stereo speakers in the room that weren't wired to anything, or the sound of other rooms surround sound late at night late at night. But those items are minor. The place has the great vibe of a small boutique loft hotel. The rooms are large, bright and airy, the king bed is very comfortable, large bathroom, etc. The neighborhood feels like SOHO but is only 2 blocks to Canal St and the French Quarters and 3-4 blocks to the river. Being located on the west side of Canal St. you are not in the middle of Tourista 101/Bourbon St. Everything thing is an easy 10-15 minute walk and walking back to the hotel is relaxing. We read in other reviews that the hotel is difficult to find. Well thankfully it has a very subtle facade, but is right next to the Omni hotel on a prominent side street. What's wrong with being hard to find, anyway? We'd definitely consider staying there again.

Probably one of the slickest, trendiest Hotels in NOLA. Staff are wonderful; rooms are spectacular (minimalists concrete lofts with 12 foot vaulted ceilings and huge bathroom); Shower awesome; and Bed, comfy as can be. Why the low rating? BECAUSE IT IS SO NOISY OUSTSIDE THAT YOU CANNOT SLEEP. Unless you plan on being up all night until 5am, this is NOT the hotel for you. first there is a bar/lounge attached to the hotel, with a very loud DJ. then, because the club is so small people mill around outside until it closes (at 2am?), but wait there's more . . . across the street there is a 24 hours sports bar where the revelry continues until all hours in the a.m. Trust me I wanted to love this place and come back again and again, but until they put NEW windows that are more sound resistant, I will not. Not to beat a dead horse, but our room was actually on the 3rd floor AWAY from the bar and the sound still came through as if the windows were open. I pity those poor unfortunate souls who were stuck in the 2nd floor rooms above the club facing the street. might as well have rolled your bed into the bar at that point.

I like the boutique aspect to the Loft. It was quaint and actually had very nicely appointed rooms. My room was very large with high ceilings. The decor was modern and I thought the bed was quite comfortable. Sadly, there were just too many issues with my stay to make it satisfactory. 1. The hotel was very hard to find. It was not clearly marked and my cab had to circle several times to find the location. 2. The auto lock to my room was broken and I had to attempt to enter 3 times before the hotel manager let me in. 3. The shower was really big and upscale, but the head was broken and it caused the entire bathroom to get wet. 4. MOST IMPORTANT - There is a nightclub downstairs that really gets going on Saturday nights. I was in NOLA for a conference and was working, so it was painful to hear techno music at 2am while I was trying to sleep.

I absolutely loved Loft 523. It seems like so many hotels in this price range all look and feel exactly the same, but this one stands out. The minimalist, urban style is bright and airy, and the combination of materials and carefully chosen textures is truly luxe. You are definitely getting much more design style than in chain hotels! The service was top-notch; even though I encountered three different employees at the front desk each remembered me after just one encounter. Free wifi is great too! The location is fantastic, immediately off Camp just a couple of minutes walk to Canal Street and lots of restaurant options. Also just a block from Poydras and many big-name hotels and the Pan Am conference center. I was happy to see that Loft is on a small side street (one lane, one way), but still moments from the major artery roads and all they have to offer. Only downside, and this has been mentioned in other reviews, but Tuesday nights are noisy. The lounge, adjacent to the lobby, holds salsa classes and then transitions to a club a little later in the evening and doesn't settle down until about 2 am. I was on the fourth floor, so while I wasn't hearing the music through the building it was coming in through the (beautiful, large) windows. The hallway was quiet, so I imagine if you get a room that is not facing the street you should have peace and quiet. I was up working anyway so it really didn't bother me (I was grateful for the help staying awake!), but if you are concerned about being well-rested on Wednesday keep this in mind. I will definitely be staying at Loft 523 again the next time I am in town, and thank you hotels.com for getting me a great rate!

Room was spacious and clean!!! City of New Orleans was working on the street and woke me up at 7:00 AM!!! No bueno!!! Get a room not on Gravier Street!!

This was one of the more unique hotels I have stayed at. Quaint, quiet and modern, the room was awesome and the bathroom beyond compare. The location was convenient for all I needed to access (which was the convention center) and I felt safe in the neighborhood. My only complaint was that I had requested a wake-up call which I never received. I shared this with the person at the front desk who told me she did call and left a message. I shared that I would have never slept through the phone ringing and that there must be a problem with the phone. When I returned later that day she affirmed that there was a problem with the phone in my room. No apology or otherwise. I shared that I missed a session at the conference I was attending because of that and was essentially told, Oh Well. That being said, the hotel/room itself was terrific and I would not hesitate to return.

Loved the size of the room. Nice high ceilings and tall windows. New York chic in NOLA. We were close enough to the quarter but far enough away to get a good night's sleep.

This is a boutique hotel. It has nice rooms (lhgh ceilings, big windows, nice king-size bed and a great bathroom with double shower). The only drawback to the hotel was the very loud and very noisy bar with wall shaking music that went on until 2am. If you're there for a vacation weekend and going out to the bars it is great but if you have an early morning meeting it is less than ideal.

I feel that Loft was the perfect place to stay in NOLA. The rooms are very modern and very chic, which is just enough opposite from the rest of the city and most of the sites. i found that it was refreshing to go to my room, with very cool concrete floors and wide open spaces, which not always what you get a cookie cutter hotels. The service I received at the front desk was extremely helpful and they always knew the best places to eat, drink and hear great jazz. And the hotel bar was one of my favorite places as well. I drank some amazing drinks and meet great people as well. Best place i have stayed a few years!

With a glowing report on this fabulous New Orleans stay-place, my fear is I'll never be able to get another reservation... with only 18 spacious rooms, the NO VACANCY will be a permanent sign. Wonderful unique design goes with warm service and it's nestled in hiding in the fun city. p.s. -- please don't improve the exterior signage... that way new people will NOT find the location.

This was a really cool hotel. The loft minimalist design was a refreshing change from the same old same old. Great space and windows. Loved that there wasn't any carpet in the room- felt cleaner in bare feet. Nice lighting. Minimal service in evidence, but the staff we encountered were very helpful in arranging for our needs. Great location. No bar after a late check-in, but using the one in the sister hotel on the corner worked fine. If we had stayed longer a pool would have been important. Would definitely stay again.

Rooms are great but there is loud music until 2 in the morning on Tuesdays & the weekends! It is very disruptive to guests.

Upscale industrial - and I'll go back. There is much to recommend about Loft 523: location, value, room size, amenities, & audio system! My room (3a) was great. Far more interesting and comfortable than the overpriced convention hotels in the French Quarter and along the Waterfront (I was in NOLA for business) -- and far more engaging. Extra points for the two robes & slippers in the closet, and the pouches of Community Coffee next to the pot on the large counter in the large bathroom. My one (small) complaint is the absence of electrical outlets next to the desk: no place to plug in the phone or computer.

Our room was amazing! Very modern and clean. The room, including the bathroom, was huge. Great location-two blocks away from Canal Street so everything was walkable yet far enough to get away from Bourbon Street at night. Only drawback was the lack of soundproofing in the room. You could hear your next door neighbors and anything above you with great clarity. Besides that, it was a great hotel and I would stay there again.

Outside noise very loud in room - little insulation. Difficult to sleep even though on a fairly quiet street. Very sparsely decored.

What a place!! My husband and I loved our room. I believe it was 2D, we had our own patio. The bed was comfortable and the front desk was more than accomodating. The only complaint I have is the bldg is hard to find. The hotel doesn't have a clear sign and no valet outside. Other than that we LOVED it and will be back for sure!

Love this place! We were in the Rock You loft and we loved it! Huge and overall very clean. The only thing that wasn't to standard was the rug. It showed it's wear and tear. The hotel is very trendy and chic. The shower was beautiful and the water pressure was awesome with plenty of hot water! The bed is extremely comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it!

The room was really nice and clean, and the location is awesome. That having been said, it was not at all sound proof. Our room was on the 2nd floor, and from 10pm until after 3am, it was as if our bed was on the club floor....NOT relaxing.

We had had good experiences with stays in other boutique hotels and the review on Loft 523 led us to believe it might be good also. We arrived and the desk clerk the first night was very friendly and knowledgeable. However, about 10 pm the party in the bar started in earnest and the entire building shook the music was so loud. The party the first night did not end until 5 am, although it ended at 3 am the next two nights. The room itself was worn out, with cigarette burns in the carpeting (supposed to be a non-smoking hotel), although the bathroom and the shower were very nice. We had breakfast room service all three mornings and they never did get the order right, the first time bringing us big glasses of milk instead of the coffee we wanted. I would not recommend this hotel unless you go to the party and need a room to crash in afterwards.

we were in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. Loft 523 was a great location: not a noisy congested area, walking distance to both French Quarter and Superdome. No problems with the bar in the lobby. Very 'artsy' design and great style. Will definitely stay here again AND recommend to others. Thanks Loft 523.

523 Loft is a fun edgy small hotel in the heart of the New Orleans’ central business district. Modern furnishings are a nice foil for this old classic building. The rooms are spacious and have towering ceilings. The overall effect is very pleasant. This is a small hotel. Staff is minimal (one person at the front desk and housekeeping staff) but very helpful. Valet parking is shared with the sister property, International House, which is located around the block so it can take a few extra minutes to get your car. There is no restaurant on property but good eating options abound in the neighborhood. This hotel has one big problem, the bar on the first floor. On three nights out of our four night stay the bar was closed and not a problem. The forth night the bar was open and booming. This is a loud DJ driven spot with extremely loud music and penetrating bass. We could feel the bass blasting on the third floor. The music lasted until 3:00 am. We enjoyed most of our experience at 523 Loft but will probably not stay there again because of the bar noise.
